Ate here this morning. Pancakes were good. Bacon and eggs were okay. My husband liked the hashbrowns but I thought they had an odd taste to them. Overall, not bad but not good enough where we will go back. Nice wait staff though. read more

If you enjoy breakfast on a boat but hate the water then look no further then Mr.Pancake! You can sit and dine within the remains of a river boat turned restaurant. The food is good, not great. But the price matches. The serving staff were friendly and generally quick for coffee refills and delivering food. I decided to try one of their signature items of the banana split waffle which basically consisted of whipped cream, some ice cream all sitting on a giant waffle. This might look and sound good, which it is. But it was ALOT of whipped cream. A lot of sugar for a breakfast item. I recommend buying this as a sort of side dish for you and two to three other people to share. Honestly my favorite part of the meal was the cheesy hash browns which you can specifically request. The coffee was good too. Also be prepared to wait in line if you come by in the morning. I had to wait 30 minutes for a seat. Not sure if the wait was worth it, but maybe I missed out on trying something. I'll go back again if the wait isn't so long. Otherwise it was a fine place to have breakfast in the Dells. read more

Mr. Pancake, I love you. The best and biggest buttermilk pancakes ever. Also had a bit of the chocolate chip pancakes and they were delicious. Wish there was one like this in Chicago. I was completely thrown off by how good it was and will be coming back 100%. The mr pancake coffee is not only delicious but strong enough to notice from a few sips . I had the 6oz steak and eggs. The steak is seasoned perfectly and is very tender. Completely caught off guard by how satisfied I am and how tasty it was. My whole family loved their plates as well . Definitely worth a visit if you are staying in the dells . By the time you're done eating Youl realize why they've been open since the 1960's read more

Refuses to accommodate nut allergies. Brought the entire table's food before informing party member with nut allergy they couldn't make their food because they don't sanitize griddles or waffle makers between orders and would not do so. When asked about this, told they could not accommodate, but guest could order eggs and sausage (while the rest of the table already had and were eating food). Terrible customer service. read more

We stopped in for breakfast with a group of 10. We were seated pretty quickly and I felt like the service was quick all around. The menu is quite large but some things are a bit silly. For example, I ordered the pigs in a blanket thinking it would somehow be something a bit special but it was literally just 3 pancakes wrapped around 3 small sausage links. I could have easily done that myself. Also, be aware that if you order the banana pancakes they are literally just regular pancakes with a few slices of banana on top. The blueberry pancakes were just regular pancakes with what looked like blueberry pie filling on top. It's a bit misleading. The portions were large and the price was very reasonable. I'm going to go with the masses on this one. This place might actually be an IHOP with a misleading sign out front. The wait times were long (to sit, for the waitress to take our order, for food, to check out) and it was not a luxury we could afford with 3 children of varying ages. The restaurant is loud and every 3 minutes or so you'd hear a child at another table losing their mind. I don't blame them--I was close to screaming in desperation myself. The food was decent but similar to what you'd except at a Denny's. If you don't mind waiting exorbitant amounts of time for average flapjacks at the kind of place where your forearms stick to the table and where Midwestern tourist families come to die, then by all means, check it out! read more

This place is an insult to humanity. Don't go here, and keep your children away. Everything is filthy. If they can't keep something as trivial as the bathroom clean, imagine the kitchen. The table was filthy. The plates that came out to us were filthy. The coffee cups were. FILTHY. As in obviously unwashed. The syrup bottles were communal and disgusting. Everyone who comes in this place is touching them. Let me tell you how you are received; they tell you it's a 10 minute wait - 1/4 of the restaurant is empty... In the waiting area are shabby bins of stuffed animals. All the families that walk in, the kids go to the bins. This establishment is praying on the impulse pressure of children on their fatigued parents. There's a small sign saying no refunds. It was terrible to witness all these parents arguing with their children they don't need another stuffed animal, prying them out of their hands, these toys touched by every snotty child that walks in. We only got as far as ordering the coffee. My wife was busy being disgusted by the bathroom when their stink coffee showed up. Instant coffee. Burnt. I was on the far side of the table and I was revolted. We just left for our own dignity. The place just screams "Fuck you tourist cattle, here's your shit." read more

The Pancakes are light and fluffy, and a little cakey. I wasn't going to be picky about syrup in a place like this, and obviously not worrying about pure, but what they use was a light amber so it didn't detract at all. A side of bacon managed to be burnt and rubbery. A definite throwaway item. However the bacon in the pancake I was told was good, but you did have to use a knife. We were seated in a corner which was nice, cause it gets bustling in here. We had an excellent waitress. Restrooms are very clean for a place this busy. There was a surplus of eager patrons lined up and ready for their table at Mr. Pancake upon arrival. I was preparing for a long wait but was pleasantly surprised when we were seated just 10 minutes after arrival. However, upon being seated, it became clear to me I had some pretty rough decisions ahead of me. The menu simply sang to me as it listed some of the most mouthwatering pancake flavors I could ever imagine. Normally, I would attempt to try a bite here or there from other plates on the table but I was so incredibly obsessed with the downright scrumptious peanut butter pancakes. The peanut butter flavoring wasn't overpowering or too heavy, which is something I feared upon ordering. Instead, they were still very light and fluffy. I tried eating with and with syrup and took full advantage of the chocolate chips and whip cream toppings. Everyone else at the table seemed to be smiling ear to ear with their selections. The only two things I tried outside my meal were a sausage link from the Pigs-in-a-Blanket dish and a sip of the hot chocolate ordered by the kids. The sausage was great and I would likely order a side of it the next time we are there. The hot chocolate was thick and creamy and everything a kid would want from a hot drink. There is no doubt, being a Chicagoan, that we will one day return to the Dells. And I guarantee one morning will find me staring down the Mr. Pancake menu looking for my next pancake adventure. read more

We stopped at Mr Pancake after we saw it driving to Noah's Ark. We got there around 10:30AM and only had to wait about 15 minutes before we got seated. The restaurant is built to look like an old paddle boat from the outside and the inside decorated to match. There is a small gift shop on the inside where you can purchase toys and stuffed animals. After we were seated, we knew what to order (after the 15 minute wait). We got hashbrowns, scrambled eggs, bacon and strawberry pancakes (which is a favorite on the menu). We got our food in less than 10 minutes and it was just as good as all the reviews I read myself. The pancakes were amazing! Very soft, fluffy and cooked to a nice golden brown on both sides. There was a VERY generous helping of strawberries, whip cream and powered sugar. The hashbrowns were nice and crispy on the outside. Overall, a wonderful experience and I would definitely go back again. read more

Best breakfast in the Dells. It is extremely busy, but we waited 15 minutes, or less, before we were seated. Don't be intimidated by the line or crowd at the door. It didn't take long before we got our food either. Color your Mr. Pancake menu and you won't notice the delay. The chocolate chip pancakes are phenomenal. They were impossible to finish when I was 5, and still impossible to finish even when I'm starving at 26. Delicious with blueberry and strawberry syrup! Great menu selection, but they should have a better kid's menu. The no-plate sharing fee is unfair due to their huge portions, but I don't have kids so I can't review based on that. A definite must try if you are in the mood for pancakes! Our party tried four different kinds and we were all very pleased. I had the special pumpkin pancakes and they were delicious with chopped nuts whipped cream and nutmeg sprinkled on top. Another guest had the peanut butter pancakes sprinkled with chocolate chips and Reeses pieces, so good! We also tried the chocolate chip and strawberry pancakes, both good but not my particular favorite. Prices were reasonable for the pancakes and included 5 cakes per order!
