I used to go to Mr. Perry's a lot before the beginning of Covid. As a matter of fact, my dad loved to go when I was little, back in the 70's, before we went to visit family in the central valley. Well, my mom wanted seafood and suggested we come here. Oh my, I still love this place! There seems to be so many more and different items. But, many of the same as well. I had a T-bone steak that came with soup, salad and a potato. It was soooo good!! My mom had the seafood platter and my son chicken and waffles. It was ALL good and filling! I ordered half a turkey sandwich with a side of fruit, and I added two strips of bacon for the Half Turkey Sandwich, which I believe wound up on the Club House Sandwich? I also ordered a Club House Sandwich with Ham and American Cheese and a side of French Fries. Last, but not the least, I ordered two chocolate Milkshakes. The food was good, the service decent, the ambiance not so great. This all cost me $50.81. Now you add in the tip, well, I should've gone to Zocalos. Just found out that Tina who has been a waitress here for a very long time no longer works at Perry's. She is one of the best and is really missed. I've been coming to Perry's for over 20 years and is one of my favorite places to eat but unfortunately I will not be going there anymore. The current main waitress is one of the worst I've seen. Over the past 20 years about 90% of them have been fantastic. The current one is not attentive, doesn't provide items that are included with the meal, bring your salad after your meal is served and today had a really crappy attitude. As being one of the old timers I would take a vacant seat at a small table wave hello and others would take a counter seat. There was three or four parties after me that she gave seats and menus and just glanced at me as she walked by. I got up and walked out of the restaurant. To be clear the food is good and service by other staff is great. This is the first time I've stopped going to a restaurant that I enjoy because of poor service and attitude of a waitress. HOWEVER, it is clear that in the last several months, this lovely little coffee shop has been reborn. The exterior and interior have been tastefully cleaned and updated while preserving the vintage charm of the original restaurant. The food has also received a substantial upgrade in quality while maintaining many of the classic choices that have always been available. Went to Mr. Perrys last night for the first time in about 3 years and it wasn't a very good experience. We had to stand there at the entrance for almost 20 minutes with hardly much acknowledgment we were there waiting for a table. There was no one in front of us waiting, they were kind of busy so I chalked it up to that. We were finally seated, the waitress was nice and got us our drinks promptly and took our orders. The food did not take very long to get to our table. Wife got the $20 chicken dinner, I got the $18 chicken fried steak dinner. Well to make a long story short, everything we ordered was overcooked and dried out. Not even the gravy I got on the side made it anymore palatable. Never had such a rotten experience there, we may or may not ever go back :( read more

My waitress looked so tired! I hope the 30 percent my daughter tipped her for our Togo order helped her smile more! Her co worker came in real perky! I almost wanted to switch waitresses-- then I realized my server was the opening manager DARN-- I saw it was very busy & the two servers were OVERWHELMED. I asked the manager if they maybe needed to hire more staff-- he said AFTER THESE COVID raises-- I can't afford it. Oh well. I guess it usually isn't busy like that or guests are use to mediocre service. Oh well. Bomb food and amazing portions! My hubby got the chicken and waffles. He said he loved it and It was the first time he had real chicken rather then tenders with his waffles. I got the country fried chicken and sub the hash browns to country potatoes and omg it tasted soo good. I ate the whole plate. Our 2yr old daughter had a corn dog and fries and the corn dog tasted like it was prepared there rather than frozen. Loved the crunch to it. Also loved the smiley face they made on a plate with ketchup for her. The service was great too. A couple ladies that worked there came by our table to admire our little girls beauty. Mr. Perry's is one of my favorite restaurants in Sacramento. I was told that they are offering Prime Rib Dinner at very good price. I went there at around 5:00pm on Sunday. As expected, there were not much customers inside. First of all, there was no people welcoming us. Waitress seemed do not care about customers busying chatting with each others. Waited for at least 10 minutes before a waitress came to us. Waited for another 10 minutes to get our drinks (just coffee and water), another 15 minutes to get our prime rib dinners. I was surprised that the waitress did not even bother to ask us how we want our prime rib to be cooked. When we see our prime rib dinners, we were totally shocked. The prime rib are well-done like rubbers (as see in the photos) I asked the waitress if "well-done" is a standard for all prime rib dinners. She did not answer my question directly. I don't like well-done prime rib, I asked for an exchange for a medium rare. She said she needed to talk to her manager (to me, this is a lie) When she came back, we were told that we could not change for another plates because SHE (the waitress) ORDERED WELL-DONE for us even though she did not ask us at all. I was so angry, I lost my appetite, and I asked for the check right away even without eating any of the prime rib. I rather pay instead of eating those rubber like prime rib. A few minutes later, "the manager" came to us. I told her what happened, and she said she would exchange another ones for us. Waited for another 10 minutes, our new prime rib dinner came. What's wrong with Mr. Perry's, the new ones look exactly the same except the new ones were not as dry as the ones before (see photos) The prime rib taste BAD and salty. They called that Prime Rib, but you don't feel like they are. I recommend people going to Mr. Perry's in the daytime. You will get good services and food. For dinner, please go somewhere else. This has been a good, steady standby for us when we want breakfast in the area. It is not haute cuisine, just everyday good breakfast maybe a notch or two above what you would fix yourself. We heard to be prepared for a bit of sticker shock for the prices, and this was the case - but EVERY food place in California has gone up since Covid and all the other stuff since then. If you get there before 8, get one of their earlybird specials and save lots of $$$. I don't understand the complaints about the help - the 1000 watt smile of Demetria by itself almost made me give this a 5-star. I just DoorDashed a fried chicken dinner with a side of short-stack pancakes for My mom on Mother's Day. I couldn't be there this year to celebrate in person. We had the sweetest waitress. It was nice to find some "old fashioned" comfort food. I had the open faced turkey sandwich which comes with mashed potatoes that tasted like they were made from scratch. The turkey was on the thicker side, leading me to think that they likely cute it by hand. My sister got a tuna melt and it really tasted like quality tuna, not the mushy canned, cheap tuna. 25 year customer and I will never go back. Service has been horrible for nearly a year . Gave it another chance today. Took 12 minutes for the server to take our order, with only 2 other tables in the restaurant. Then! the server went to the restroom ans had to be reminded of our table. Finally got our salads and kept waiting and waiting for our food. By the time we finished our salads, we were the only customers there. My order sat in the window for at least 10 minutes, while the cook prepared our other order. Our server made an excuse that our food took so long because my steak was medium well and takes longer. Finally after a long wait someone acknowledged us and took us to sit. Huge menu I will say that! But we ordered breakfast and it looked amazing but the taste just wasn't there for me!
