There was no wait time for seating. The tables are out dated but the booths were reupholstered. We both ordered the Doc's Omelet, one with fruit and the other with crispy Hash browns. The food was served heat hot with lots of flavor. We enjoyed the meals.

Ok so I was very reluctant to coming here due to its history but husband wanted to try it so I braved it. First impression was pleasant with a welcoming hello from the person at the register. We were seated right away although the very short time we were standing waiting to be seated was greated 3 times by different people acknowledging our presence. You can tell right away this is their "usual" spot for many elderly locals. Maybe they offer a senior discount? It had that home feel and sound aa people were coming and going. The menu -- nothing special - very traditional comfort food :) that fills the hungry belly but the service was really good. Our person was Shawana - middle aged Caucasian woman that didnt smile once HOWEVER her body language was friendly, attentive and honesty - comforting :) Kinda like how an Auntie will try to feed you when you come visit. The place was CLEAN and dirty tables were quickly turned over. The gentleman bussing the table was friendly to the costumers as well. Saw many pleasing interactions. Thank you for having us!

I've gone two times in the last month with a party of three and each time there was no wait to sit. The staff was very kind and attentive to our tables needs. The food came rather quickly, was hot and delicious. I personally had the waffle. It was just right with crispy edges and a soft center in the middle. I would highly recommend this as a food option. The only turnoff was the homeless guy sitting in the front of the door, that everyone just seemed to walk past. He didn't beg for money, but sitting right next to the entrance had me a little on edge. Other than that, I would definitely visit this place again.

I found this joint on my birthday as I was out of town and visiting my brother in Sac. This one was the closest to our rental and looked like a promising American breakfast place. It's not fancy or anything like that so good to stop by and have a delicious meal. It was also fairly clean.. they had a woman cleaning while we were there. The waitress was sweet and we were seated fairly quickly. Pricing is reasonable and there is plenty of seating. It's an older looking restaurant but def did the trick for my family and I. The waitress also blessed my kids w a sundae which was great. There was a mistake on my order but honestly I did not mind. She corrected and brought my food quickly. I wouldn't mind returning if I am ever in the area again. They also accommodate large parties. While we were leaving I believe a party of 20 came in. We left right on time! lol

Where has this place been all my life? Ok, a bit melodramatic, but good breakfast at a restaurant is one of my favorite meals to go out for...and Sacramento is severely lacking in that department. This is very old school....we went after my wife's doctors appointment, and we were probably the youngest people there. Nothing wrong with that, as it was 9:00 am on a weekday morning. Old school generic American restaurant vibe (and again, not said as a negative). Now, then, onto the food... I ordered way too much. I was hungry, and as previously mentioned, loved to try out new (to me) breakfast places. On a recommendation from our amazing server, I ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs, with a side of "tiny" (not really) pancakes. My wife ordered sausage and eggs. The eggs were scrambled perfectly, but...the chicken fried steak was pretty incredible. It stayed hot for so long, as well. I wish the pancakes had been a little warmer, but oh well. Her sausages were just as good (to her), and we left with full bellies (and too much food left on the table). Sadly, over the next few weeks, we will be in this area many mornings for medical appointments, but the good news is I believe we found our new breakfast spot.

Food is always good here. My fave lately is the soup & salad. You must try the Burger Club and breakfast.

The All American is a plate you will not forget. Three eggs with four pieces of bacon or sausage and pancakes.

Is this still open? I've been calling and no answer?

Same great old school R&B music in the background. Same old booths. Same friendly staff. so how was the food? 1) catfish nuggets entree: fresh fish nuggets that had small pieces of bones - must be careful when consuming this entree, scrambled eggs were decent, nice side of grilled potatoes w/onions and peppers and 2 slices of basic white toast. 2) basic entree: crispy bacon and hot links, scrambled eggs but the grits had to be returned and heated up and it also arrived with 2 slices of basic white toast. So- our entrees were just ok and the prices are definitely higher than before - which all places have increased their cost. But serving catfish nuggets that contained multiple pieces of small fish bones was troublesome- a diner could've experienced a terrible situation if not careful. The cold grits were also a meh situation. 2 stars for the food and an extra star for the local ambience. so i would give the food

A meal that feels like it came straight from grandma's kitchen…read more Stopped by Fixins with The Kid after a doctor's appointment in Sacramento. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. From the moment we walked in, the hospitality was on point and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. One thing I love about Fixins is that the menu truly has something for everyone. We even got the chance to meet Aunt Pearl, whose name appears on the menu, which made the experience feel even more special. We ordered the Chicken & Waffles along with sides of Mac & Cheese and Candied Yams. The candied yams were buttery, sweet, and everything you want from a classic soul food side. The mac and cheese was rich, creamy, cheesy, and packed with flavor. The waffle was a standout. It had a subtle spice to it, a crispy exterior, and paired perfectly with the chicken. The chicken itself was well seasoned, perfectly battered, and fried just right. And then there's the Red Kool-Aid. Fixins should honestly bottle that stuff and sell it by the gallon because it was THAT good. One thing that caught my eye on the menu was their Kool-Aid soaked pickle. I didn't try it this visit, but next time I'm definitely ordering one of their sandwiches because it comes with the sandwich plates and I'm too curious not to. The food, service, and atmosphere all came together to create an experience that felt like family. It truly feels like somebody's grandmother is in the back making sure every plate leaves the kitchen with love. Definitely looking forward to coming back.

I attended a neighbor event Afrobeats day party this weekend June 27th close to Fixins Soul Kitchen. They were kind enough to allow my lady friend and myself to use there restroom while attending the event. We decided to leave the event around 8:15 pm and visited Fixins one last time to use the restaurant restroom. My lady friend and I spoke outside the restaurant briefly making plans to meet at Fixins another time so I couldtry the food. As I go to leave on my motorcycle allowing it to warm up an employee from Fixins comes out to the sidewalk yelling at me go go go just go very very rudely saying my motorcycle is too loud just go. I explained to him it need to warm up and rudely waving his hand rudely in the air on the sidewalk still saying to me go go go! Now the music from the event was very loud you could clearly hear it from 34th st to 33st. So my motorcycle couldn't haveen be much louder. I definitely won't be visiting Fixins Soul Kitchen on Broadway ever with rude employee like this working in there restaurant! I've lived in the Oak Park area my entire life 62 years always treating others with respect. Absolutely ridiculous behavior, this employee has no business in the restaurant environment.

The service was really fast, and the workers were friendly. They have really big portion sizes. I got the steak with eggs and a biscuit, and it was delicious. Wait Time: 15 minutes (Sunday brunch)…read more Parking: Free with plenty of spaces in the shopping complex. Restroom: Bright and clean. Ambience: The space feels somewhat unfinished. Much of the interior consists of plain, single-color walls without much décor, giving it a blank and somewhat incomplete feel. Service: Friendly but slow and somewhat disorganized. * At check-in, the host added my name (Lin) to the waitlist and said I would receive a text when my table was ready. However, the notification arrived under a different name (Nancy), so I had to double-check whether the table was actually for us. * Our server was pleasant, but service felt scattered. She stopped by to check on us, but before we could respond, she walked over to another table and continued a conversation there. When she returned, she said she would bring water, even though we were already ready to order. It took a while for the water to arrive. * Later, we requested a water refill, which she acknowledged, but it appeared to be forgotten. The refill only came when we were getting ready to leave, at which point she apologized. Although it was a Sunday brunch service, the restaurant did not seem busy enough to fully explain the level of disorganization. Food: Breakfast is available all day. I recommend the Eggs Benedict (weekends only), which comes in several varieties: A. Bacon, spinach, and tomato Benedict B. Traditional ham Benedict C. Cali Benedict with avocado, tomatoes, and arugula D. Smoked Salmon Benedict The Club Sandwich also comes with a generous portion size. A nice convenience is that the restaurant allows split bills, and guests can pay individually through the Toast app.
