I love this place! I'm use to the SLO location this was first time visiting this location! Staff was super friendly and they have a restroom unlike SLO, ha ha. We ordered the BIG Jake and the Goomba. Both sandwiches were so good! All the ingredients are great as always! :) we had one for lunch and one for dinner! We ordered both sandwiches on the Dutch crunch bread which is great!! We used to have a Mr. Pickle's in Templeton but the location was challenging and they did not stay there very long. Fortunately, Atascadero has one and although it is farther away, it is worth the trip to get there. They serve up the best selection of sandwiches in the area. I had ordered from here on doordash multiple times, and honestly Mr. Pickles never miss! The sandwiches are always super yummy and very filling- considering how much the sandwiches are, I'm glad they're still filling the sandwich as much as they can. I appreciate that each sandwich comes with a cookie (sometimes two cookies!) and is perfect for any meal. My usual order is the Mrs. Pickle on a dutch crunch but tried the Hero and it was SO good! I haven't really ordered at the location, but they've always gotten my orders right and handled it with care- that's enough for me to appreciate the staff's hard work :) read more

I went into this sandwich shop this morning at 10:00. I chose a sandwich to go, it was a pastrami on dutch bread, had some letters that started out the name of the sandwich The sandwich was very good, and this is the first pastrami sandwich I have had in years that did not skimp on the meat. Mine had cheese mustard and pickles and a great deal of pastrami. The sandwich was ready quickly, loke less than five minutes. The staff here seems to appreciate the customer. This place is very narrow from left to right but it is a long restaurant. There are old historic photos, very large one to check out. I am not from the area so they were of interest to me. I get over to this part of SLO county frequently, so I will be back to try other sandwiches. read more

I used to live in the bay area and was visiting Atascadero over Thanksgiving, to my surprise stumbled on a Mr. Pickle's! Dutch crunch is in it's own league, if you haven't had it, run don't walk to try it here. I split the Mr. Pickle and the spicy chicken sando with the works, would recommend both. I've been coming to this spot for 4 years, and it's always spot on. I've tried the Italian, Mr. Pickle, and for the kids the pb&j. I've tried more but can't recall the names at the moment. What I know is that it's always good, and the servings are big. The Dutch bread is always my favorite but the other breads are also good. The service is always quick, and the staff is friendly. Wherever you lived in L.A, you likely were partial to the delis nearest to you. For me I was partial to Nate n' Als, Label's Tables, and Langers. Each place had their own style. So it goes without saying that I have my own opinion of what I like in a corned beef sandwich. Get together with a person from New York, and get ready for an argument ;-) It's not always easy to find deli's that serve the kind of corned beet I grew up eating. It's got to be made there, stacked high enough, tender, just the right amount of fat, warm, moist and brined just right. Johnny Boy's nailed it. I got a Reuben, without the cheese. The rye was toasted and buttered or oiled just right, the sauerkraut spot on, and the corned beef delicious and ample. There was some extra spiciness that I liked, which almost made me think it was pastrami. I don't know if it was in the corned beef or in the sauerkraut or Russian dressing. Boy was it tasty. I was delighted they had chopped liver, not something you find everywhere. Nate n' Als used to make the best chopped liver. Light and sweet in both flavor and its appearance. Johnnyboys' was darker in appearance, creamy, and creative in its presentation. They placed cut up pickled cucumbers and onions on top of it. Delicious. Again, I felt it was generous in it's serving size along with some rye bread. And I must say, their prices were much lower compared to many of the better deli's I've been to in bigger cities. We ate outside, and because of the way it faces, we were nicely shaded. For those unfamiliar with Atascadero, it can get pretty hot. I liked that it was off the main drag, and it faced an office machinery store which took me back to my childhood. It's a quaint street with some cute stores and small eateries, a pie place next door, and some coffeehouse. Pull over if you're traveling on 101 and you're ready to eat or want to bring home dinner or lunch. I was on my way North to see my brother and he said, "We don't have a good deli here. Next time bring me a corned beef sandwhich". I will :-)

As far as cheeses go, their truffle pecorino is literally to die for. And anyone who tries Nduja for the first time will get hooked on it. I first experienced this Calabrian delicacy in Tuscany on pizza and was super stoked to see that Alle-Pia makes their own as it's extremely hard to find outside of Italy. Eric, who works there, is super nice and helpful and will always give you sample slices of whatever you're ordering. He also makes fantastic handmade crostini himself. And when Tess is working their (the daughter of the owner), I enjoy getting to speak some Italian with her. All in all I can't recommend this place highly enough to buy your authentic Italian products. Between Alle-Pia and Etto, we're pretty much set.

I was met by the smiling face of the single employee in the restaurant. My sandwich was already bagged. My name was on it and my chips and extra napkins were inside already. The store was very clean and organized, and I seemed to be the first customer of the day. The sandwich itself was very good. It had a generous amount of filling and was served as represented on the menu. I will have to try Capriotti's again to try a different type of sandwich as I think it's unfair to judge an entire restaurant by a tuna fish sandwich. However, everything was as advertised and I can confidently give this location a thumbs up.

Again, no biggie. There are only a handful of tables to sit at inside too. That's fine for me. I would definitely recommend this place. But, you may want to wait a couple of weeks for them to get everything smoothed out!

Get together with a person from New York, and get ready for an argument ;-) It's not always easy to find deli's that serve the kind of corned beet I grew up eating. It's got to be made there, stacked high enough, tender, just the right amount of fat, warm, moist and brined just right. Johnny Boy's nailed it. I got a Reuben, without the cheese. The rye was toasted and buttered or oiled just right, the sauerkraut spot on, and the corned beef delicious and ample. There was some extra spiciness that I liked, which almost made me think it was pastrami. I don't know if it was in the corned beef or in the sauerkraut or Russian dressing. Boy was it tasty. I was delighted they had chopped liver, not something you find everywhere. Nate n' Als used to make the best chopped liver. Light and sweet in both flavor and its appearance. Johnnyboys' was darker in appearance, creamy, and creative in its presentation. They placed cut up pickled cucumbers and onions on top of it. Delicious. Again, I felt it was generous in it's serving size along with some rye bread. And I must say, their prices were much lower compared to many of the better deli's I've been to in bigger cities. We ate outside, and because of the way it faces, we were nicely shaded. For those unfamiliar with Atascadero, it can get pretty hot. I liked that it was off the main drag, and it faced an office machinery store which took me back to my childhood. It's a quaint street with some cute stores and small eateries, a pie place next door, and some coffeehouse. Pull over if you're traveling on 101 and you're ready to eat or want to bring home dinner or lunch. I was on my way North to see my brother and he said, "We don't have a good deli here. Next time bring me a corned beef sandwhich". I will :-)
