It was a great salad otherwise, although if I was to make this at home, I would trim the spinach stems off. They hang out every which way on the fork. They could be reincorporated into the salad by dicing them.

From the presentation, the atmosphere that was created, and most importantly the delicious and creative foods. When I first reached out to Jenna and spoke with her we worked on creating a custom menu. She asked what we liked and had some amazing suggestions. On the day of the meal Jenna and her team arrived on time and began setting up. Jenna has a great team with a culinary science student named Ben as well as her husband and daughter to help. They handled everything from the setup to cleanup leaving no trace when they left. Most importantly the food was exceptional. The appetizers included walnuts and goat cheese, martini chicken, and sushi grade ahi tuna spring rolls. The salad was a mix of delicious and fresh micro greens. The main course was either a New York Steak or Sea Bass. Both had creative sides which included riced cauliflower. All of the appetizers had sauces that were next level and unique. All of the food could stand alone, but the sauces made the food even more incredible. The desserts included a deconstructed strawberry cake and a red velvet cake that was perfectly balanced. Jenna was incredibly thoughtful asking ahead of time what my wife's favorite flower was and even brining candles for the cake. This was an experience that will not be soon forgotten and highly recommended.

Wherever you lived in L.A, you likely were partial to the delis nearest to you. For me I was partial to Nate n' Als, Label's Tables, and Langers. Each place had their own style. So it goes without saying that I have my own opinion of what I like in a corned beef sandwich. Get together with a person from New York, and get ready for an argument ;-) It's not always easy to find deli's that serve the kind of corned beet I grew up eating. It's got to be made there, stacked high enough, tender, just the right amount of fat, warm, moist and brined just right. Johnny Boy's nailed it. I got a Reuben, without the cheese. The rye was toasted and buttered or oiled just right, the sauerkraut spot on, and the corned beef delicious and ample. There was some extra spiciness that I liked, which almost made me think it was pastrami. I don't know if it was in the corned beef or in the sauerkraut or Russian dressing. Boy was it tasty. I was delighted they had chopped liver, not something you find everywhere. Nate n' Als used to make the best chopped liver. Light and sweet in both flavor and its appearance. Johnnyboys' was darker in appearance, creamy, and creative in its presentation. They placed cut up pickled cucumbers and onions on top of it. Delicious. Again, I felt it was generous in it's serving size along with some rye bread. And I must say, their prices were much lower compared to many of the better deli's I've been to in bigger cities. We ate outside, and because of the way it faces, we were nicely shaded. For those unfamiliar with Atascadero, it can get pretty hot. I liked that it was off the main drag, and it faced an office machinery store which took me back to my childhood. It's a quaint street with some cute stores and small eateries, a pie place next door, and some coffeehouse. Pull over if you're traveling on 101 and you're ready to eat or want to bring home dinner or lunch. I was on my way North to see my brother and he said, "We don't have a good deli here. Note: Closed Monday's and Tuesday's, dang it. It has a small menu, but it's mighty. I ordered a couple of bagels "to go", $3 each, and the next day, I had one and it was amazing with a great chewy texture. But the main item was a Corned Beef Reuben [$extra meat$ -- which I did]...wow. One of the best I've had. The meat was almost shaved, not sliced, and I loved the softness with each bite. [Significant update] I was a little disgusted at what I saw. The cashier dude had the dirtiest cap I've ever seen with old sweat stains. The cook had massive hair and no hair net or hat. Yucka.

She was excited to get into A-Town and wanted to spin by Traffic Records, but first Wild Fields Brewhouse. Located near the theater in what seemed like an under used strip mall, Wild Fields anchors down a large portion of the building. It felt like a German brewhouse, walking into a wine, open room with bar and booth seating, along with picnic tables. Arcade games dotted the far walls and the kitchen located at the end of the bar. Lots of stainless steel behind the roll up door with a list of what's :in the tanks" on thew glass behind the bar. The top list showed 20 beers available with Berliner Weiss listed as a 3.99 beer. Nice touch, and show this 3.99 beer rotates, as I returned a few days later. After finishing reviewing all the breweries in Paso for the SLO Beer Guide, A-Town was next on my list, but hadn't got down there until this visit. Talking to a couple at Cal Coast, they both agreed that Learning to Fly was their favorite IPA, so that was my mission, to check out this beer. That said, we each got a flight of beers to share and was able to sample 8 different beers from Atascadero Beach, 4101, Windswept Fields and Porch Drinkin' to Mouse Rock, Hop Clarity and License to Fill. We also tossed in Three Bridges and Oktoberfest. Unfortunately, Learning to Fly was sold out, so we left with a can as well as Cloudbreak. The beers, flawless. While not every style I faithfully drink, like brown ales or a Marzen, but am experienced enough to know a well crafted beer when I taste one. Three Bridges won gold at WBC and GABF in 2022, as did Atascadero Beach. MY second trip back I sampled their English Brown Ale, Pine Mountain Monolith, which took home gold in 2021 and 2022 from GABF and WBC, repeating that in 2022 at GABF. As was recommended to me, Learning to Fly, the 7% WCIPA was incredible. As I summerized in my beer review, "Wild Fields' first flight and still a defining one. Simcoe, Mosaic, and Citra at 7% ABV and 100 IBU -- citrusy, piney, dank, tropical, crushable. The brewery's own mixtape, played from the very beginning. Still sounds good." We didn't sample any food while we were there, but they do have an extensive menu in place. Seems like a fun place to hang out and grab some beer and food. We will be back, thanks for the great beer!

It's super family friendly, and our son loves the toddler play area. Our nieces also love the arcade games, so it's a great spot for kids and families. The beer is the best we've had in Atascadero, especially the west coast-style pale ales and IPAs like Atasca-where-o, Afraid of the Grade, Mouse Rock, and Hop Clarity. The staff has always been great, the indoor/outdoor space is awesome for groups, and having a full kitchen makes it even better. We even hosted a small lead-in gathering there the night before our son's 1st birthday party, and it was perfect. We're excited to keep coming back and becoming regulars.
