We had a wonderful visit to the Tea Trolley and decided to enjoy the High Tea. Reservations are a must! They also offer a Queen's Tea served in the charming backyard, which looked absolutely adorable and made for some wonderful photos. The outdoor seating has a cozy garden feel, with an Alice in Wonderland vibe, while the High Tea room inside is intimate, with just four tables. One table seats four guests, and the other three seat two each. During our visit, it seemed like nearly every table was celebrating a birthday, which added to the festive atmosphere. Atmosphere and decorations are off the chart. We started by choosing our tea from a full page of loose-leaf tea selections. Each tea arrived in an adorable little teapot with a beautiful china teacup. Shortly afterward, we were served a small coleslaw, followed by the classic three-tiered tea tray. The tray included a lovely assortment of finger sandwiches, fresh scones with clotted cream and jam, crumpets with additional preserves, and a top tier filled with miniature pastries and macarons. The portions were just right, leaving you with a sweet finish without feeling overly full. High Tea was $50 per person, which we felt was well worth it for the experience. I'm not sure of the current price for the Queen's Tea. Be sure to leave a little time to browse the gift shop before you go. It's filled with everything tea lovers could want, including beautiful loose-leaf teas, charming teaware, and the cutest fascinator hats. There are also plenty of picture-perfect spots throughout the property, and don't skip the restroom...it's worth a peek! Every detail of the Tea Trolley is thoughtfully decorated, making the entire visit feel like a special occasion. The service was also spot on. Not rushed but thoughtful and kind. read more

Stopped by to visit from out of town, and this is literally the cutest tea shop that serves afternoon tea on certain days! Super charming gift shop as well. The owner was super nice and although I barely made it in with about 10 minute before closing she was super welcoming! I bought a few shortbread cookies for gifts and they were cute and delicious! I've been looking for a traditional high tea spot since moving to the Central Coast and the Tea Trolley did not disappoint. We received a welcome cider upon arrival and given the opportunity to check out the shop. Once all parties arrived, we were escorted into a side room where our high tea would take place. Each person was able to order their own pot of tea and shared the tower of sandwiches, scones and petit fours. We had a cucumber sandwich, egg salad sandwich, ham sandwich and almond butter sandwich (because neither my friend nor I eat salmon). The sandwiches weee tasty. The scones were flavorful, as were the desserts. It was such a lovely and relaxed experience. There was no rush and we were welcomed to walk around the grounds as we enjoyed our tea. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. I would gladly return in the future! read more

This sweet little spot has a store with various tea related items and an indoor and outdoor space for tea. We went to the high tea that's offered on the weekends and made sure we made a reservation. Because it was January, we sat inside with 4 other tables. It took a bit to get seated but there are lots of places to get photos. Everyone was seated at the same time and everyone orders at the same time. If you're looking for a fast paced experience, you will be disappointed because this experience takes a few hours. They had a very wide selection of teas and the menu is set. The food and tea were tasty and it was a very relaxing experience. This is a great place to catch up with friends or family. read more

I recently attended the Tea Trolley Atascadero's grand opening at the Sip and Shop last Friday and it was crazy packed with so many people checking out the new space. Everyone was "oohing and aahing" on what a stunning little jewel of a tea shop Atascadero has now again in its downtown area. The current owner has definitely taken the tea shop to the next level. It's just so pretty inside - including the bathroom! I was also fortunate to attend the Tea Trolley's inaugural high tea the following day. The pre-fixed menu consisted of delicious mini sandwiches of cucumber dill and cream, ham and cheese, egg salad with capers, and smoked salmon and brie, lemon scones and crumpets with Devonshire cream and lemon curd, and sweet treats of macarons, chocolate eclair, lemon bar shortbread, and a raspberry filled petit four. Each person gets their own pot of tea. And the shop has its own resident tea expert. Gina can tell you everything about the teas and you leave knowing more about teas than when you first came in. I'm obsessed with the tea I chose. It's called the Purple Teaser on the high tea menu but in the shop they sell it as Alice's Curiosity Cup . It's a tisane full of flowers, fruits, herbs, and marshmallow. I ended up buying a tin of the loose tea and been drinking it every day since. It tastes amazing hot AND cold. I also bought the sweet treats they sell during the rest of the week when they don't have high tea seatings. There were these delicious melt-in-your-mouth shortbread cookies sourced from the Bay Area - Lynne's Labor of Love. It came in 3 flavors: lavender citrus, earl grey, and rose petal. I couldn't decide which was my favorite because all were so good! And don't get me started on the mini lemon pie and the Millionaire bar (a Twix flavored brownie) both from Bramble Pie Company. I bought a few of each home to my mom and sister and they devoured them. The owner, Deneen, mentioned that high tea is only on Saturdays and Sundays by online reservation. But she welcomes guests to enjoy a la carte the tea, scones, sweet treats, and sandwiches in her shop Wednesday-Friday and on Sat/Sun from 2-5pm. People can sit in the tea room, outside in the back patio, and the chairs scattered throughout the store. She also said that the tearoom and patio will be available for private events. I'm already thinking of baby showers and birthday high teas for the near future! I think Tea Trolley is the only tea room in the area. It's such a wonderful addition to the Central Coast. I have a feeling it's going to be a success and can't wait to go back soon. read more

I came in with 2 of my friends for the Queen's Tea offered on Wednesdays. We were dying to check it out since we hadn't visited since its ownership changed, and it did not disappoint!! We were waited on by Deneen, the owner, who was so lovely. She walked us through the menu, gave us a round complimentary slushies, and a couple of extra desserts! (I want to mention about the slushies: they were a herbal tea called Alice's Curiosity, which had notes of pineapple and marshmallow. So unique and so delicious on a hot summer day!) We even got to sniff the teas (15 options!) before ordering. We settled on the earl grey lavender for a black tea and the jasmine for a green tea--both were fantastic. The three of us shared 2 Queen's Tea towers which we found to be plenty of food, and for $24 a tower, the price cannot be beat. Deneen is truly so wonderful--she's clearly passionate about what she does, and speaks so highly of Wendy, the previous owner, and her staff. She's preserved the charm of the tea Trolley from my childhood, maintaining Wendy's dining room, and instilled so much personality into the rest of the shop! The theming is so whimsical. At the end of our tea, Deneen showed us to the back patio (which felt like stepping into wonderland) and offered to take our picture. She mentioned that sometimes people like to order a pot of tea and spend time on the patio reading or painting. I cannot sing enough praises about Deneen and the Tea Trolley. I was SO happy to find out that this place reopened. It has been closed since Covid and is now open under new management. They were so booked up that ai had to ask to be on a waitlist, which fortunately concluded with a reservation. So, if you want to book here (and high tea is only on weekends), you need to do it pretty far in advance. It is worth it though. Seating is pretty limited, given the small indoor dining space....likely the reason they book up easily. The tea is hosted by the new owner, who is very gracious and informative about the tea service. Our tier included 4 sandwich choices, scones/jam/curd/Devon cream, fresh fruit, slaw and miniature desserts (lemon bar, eclair, macarons and petit fours. Everything was beyond delicious...we ended up taking most of our dessert options in a take out box because we were so full. There are many tea options, and I elected for a delicious cinnamon black tea. When the owner found out we were celebrating my actual birthday on the date of our reservation, I was treated to an addition, yummy mini lemon pie. I am fairly certain this may now be the ONLY place in SLO county that offers a proper high tea. I most definitely will be back!! read more

I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity experience the Tea Trolley again after 17 years, and to have 4 generations of our family come together for this special treat. Myself, my daughters, and my granddaughter had high tea on a Saturday. What a fun pleasant day. Wonderful tea... we all picked something different and tasted each other's. Sandwiches... smoked salmon, egg salad, cucumber and ham and cheese and an assortment of sweet treats. Crumpets and scones. More food than we could eat.
