Located in a food tuck yard on RAINEY. It was a satisfying place to grab a drunk bite to eat. It was 5:30 on a Sunday so it wasn't too busy. (4/5): OL'GOLY ($11.50): This one is protein-heavy sausage, bacon, and you get a choice of CHICKEN or BEEF or you can mix it. There sweet corn on there but you can't really taste it or see it but I love corn so I don't mind. I thought the portion was nice and it filled us up. (4/5): SURF & TURF ($12.99): We chose beef and it includes shrimp and calamari. The shrimp was big and the squid gave it an interesting texture. The quality of the sandwiches are great. The wait can be long when there are a lot of people ordering and waiting. It is definitely worth a try.

    Meh, boring Mr. sandwich

Great brisket sandwich, but overall it's overpriced. The Mr. Sandwich was boring and they didn't have avocado on it like it says on the menu. The beef was way over cooked. Also, meager fries portions for $1.50

Absolutely amazing... When I think of a sandwich, this is not what I think of. I think of something simple and bland to fill you up for the time being. That is FAR from what you get when you experience Mr. sandwich. I had the pleasure of eating the Surf & Turf sandwich and tried my friend's Texan French Fries... SO GOOD! The owner of Mr. Sandwich has a very service-oriented establishment and knows how to make you feel welcome. Not to mention he can COOK!!! I am big on arriving to a food truck/restaurant and looking up reviews and most importantly, pictures. I have to say, the pictures on Yelp don't give it justice. The food at this truck is fantastic and I was wishing it wasn't over. I can't wait to go back!!!

My burger patty had a bite out of it. I can't make this stuff up. Literally the most disgusting experience ever!

My oh my! Hubs and I came here last night to grab a quick bite for dinner. We ordered the Texas loaded fries and the BBQ open face sandwich. Goodness is what I call it! What a great start to our weekend get away here in Austin, TX!

Big surprise here! I was visiting Austin and walking on Rainy street. We were looking for something quick to eat and saw a bunch of food trucks. I decided to try the burger and didn't have high expectations but was pleasantly surprised. The burger was nice and juicy and didn't fall apart like some burgers do. The fries were also delicious. Burgers are priced at 11.50 and adding fries is another $2. Totally worth it. The guy working the food truck was super nice and helpful.

They brought lunch for purchase to my office and it was very disappointing. One scoop of rice, one scoop of beans, one scoop of steak. No salsa, no toppings, no flavor. And $11 for this tiny bowl. It was a limited menu since it was off site but seriously how is this the best you can do?

    Bacon was super raw

Very unimpressed. My husband and I decided to give this place a try when we were in the area. We each ordered a burger. I had to repeat my order several times, but it still came out incorrect. The order came with bacon, which was pretty much raw. I ended up scraping this off the burger. My husband and I each got through maybe a third of our burgers before throwing them away. There really wasn't a whole lot of flavor and the patties appeared to be slightly undercooked as well. Probably good that we stopped when we did, as we both felt rather nauseated afterwards. For the price that we paid, I was hoping for better quality. Maybe it was just an off day, but I don't think I will try it again.

Austin fries were BOMB! OMG, I was in love! Steak, chicken, mushrooms, caramelized onions and the chipotle sauce. Great combination!

I love this Place, best open face sandwich in town, you have to try their original sauces, by the way they add a Venezuelan touch to all their recipes that makes them AMAZING!!!

This sandwich was so good I wanted to adopt the damn thing.

I had the X burger and I'm pretty sure it changed my life! Beef burger, bacon, buffalo Mozzarella, lettuce tomatoes, onions, home made pesto, avocado and pickles. Holy bejesus!

    Howdy burger!

Well, if your menu is…read moresimple and some of the items aren't cooked/baked that well, then it's going to be a letdown. Normally, I wouldn't ever order from a restaurant like this since none of the menu items satisfy a craving of mine, but I had a friend in town who was craving just this. Rotisserie Chicken (3/5) - sure it comes with some pretty tasty sauces (chipotle and salsa verde), but the chicken itself was actually quite dry. I'm sure it's juicier on most days, but this time the chicken was quite dry, even the dark meat portions. Baby Potatoes (4.5/5) - These were pretty flavorful and the roti sauce was a nice addition. But this style of roasted potato is probably on the lower tier of potato forms. So even though these were well done, it's not my favorite form of potato. Baguette with Butter (3/5) - The baguette wasn't really baked well. I got two of them and the outside was a bit too tough (slightly crunchy, but mostly on the hard side). I expected something crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, but the toughness of the crust made it difficult to enjoy the fluffier interior. Arugula salad (4/5) - Solid arugula salad. Nothing special about it but I needed some veggies and acidity for balance. Overall, kind of a disappointing experience.

They add goat cheese and arugula on the sandwich as well which adds extra flavor. There is also a dressing you can get, I like to ask for it on the side so I can dip it there. The potato's are excellent as well but would prefer to have them a little bit more crispy. It's fast service - not a sit down restaurant. Would recommend for a delicious lunch order that's fast and easy.

It's not a gimmick if they have good food…read more Handsome Dan's has been on my list to try for months, but I've been on a keto diet most of the time, so a bunch of restaurants have been put on a "someday" list. Last week I was on a break from keto, and my husband read my mind. He took me here as the first stop on a rainy Friday night date. I know they have good sandwiches, but they also have their "bait shop" schtick. They're not near any significant fishing spots, and I didn't see any evidence of bait, but whatever. Their sandwiches are good, so they can get away with it. While I ate my sandwich on the patio, we discussed the novelty nature of many Austin businesses, and which ones can hold up and which ones are pure hype. I ordered the Club sandwich. It's not a true triple-decker club, but it was the sandwich that had the best variety of fillings in my opinion. Everything you'd expect in a classic club, but easier to eat because it wasn't stacked absurdly tall like other clubs. The sourdough bread was very crispy, and the meats, cheese, and vegetables worked well inside. On the side I got potato salad which I like more than their other option, which was chips, but the potato salad wasn't anything special. Their patio was the perfect spot to enjoy a rainstorm. They have some glider chairs off to the side that are good for lounging on, but when it really started to rain we moved in to the center of the patio. I'm glad I got a chance to try Handsome Dan's. I doubt I'll be back anytime soon because huge sandwiches like this need to be an occasional treat for me, but if you're in the Springdale area looking for a satisfying meal, this is it!

Handsome Dans was on our list because of all the online and social media hype. It's tucked away in…read morethe back next to Stargazer in a brewery/ warehouse off Springdale and Airport area. The parking is shared and gets packed in the evening or you have to pay to park if you are unable to find anything in the lot or on the street. Handsome Dans has a sign directing you to the back where they are located. The vibe is true to a bait shop/diner it's casual with a rustic feel, they have a large covered patio adjacent to Stargazer bar. I highly suggest sitting outside if possible because the inside does get a bit claustrophobic and smokey when it's packed and they are smashing paninis on the press with no proper kitchen overhead vents. The type of greasy smoke you get when you are making super buttery sandwiches on a hot press. The sandwiches are ok but not something I would go out of my way to have ,our kids liked the hotdogs and Frito pies which were also kind of "upper class" gas station quality. Most of the stuff here is food that probably tastes way better after drinking several beers. It's like any normal sandwich you could make at home and toss in a panini press to be honest. Really good beers on tap and friendly staff who seemed to disappear to the back quite a bit and came back confused. They didn't know if they had already given me my food because I was ordering and paying for extra food after more people in our party arrived. They literally saw my food I already had on the table from my previous order and thought they gave me double of what I ordered hahaha. I can't make a judgment because I have no clue what they kept dispersing to the back for but can just say the confusion was real, LOL. All together if I had to come back it be because someone I knew wanted to try it. Otherwise for me it's a one and done. I got the pictures I stood next to a sign ,I had the Signiture sandwiches, now I'm moving on. I can say I've been there done that. I'm guessing that a college crowd or just being a single person who just wants to be amongst people that this is the type of lowkey place to go if you're not into the typical Longhorn hangouts. You stop in ,have some beers, eat a low budget ingredient expensive panini sandwich and chill till you have to call yourself a Waymo cause the beer is good and strong.

She was totally on top of us I had the lobster pasta and friend had the ahi tacos. They did not skimp on portions. The tacos were so full of tuna it has hard to keep it all inside the shell! So very tasty and extremely fresh ahi for sure. The lobster pasta went beyond my expectations! The pasta was definitely homemade and cooked to the perfect texture. The sauce was not over powering yet very tasty for sure. And the lobster meat. Not sprinkled in like other places. Absolutely not! There was a hefty amount of lobster for sure! They did not hold back. This would be good for a girls night out or a very nice dinner date place. The restrooms were up a few flights of stairs or you can use the elevator to the 2nd floor. I didn't know that. The upstairs portion could be rented out for special occasions or events. Our server was super friendly and helpful. She recommended a couple of her favorite smoothies. I ordered the Sweet Corn Cake Benedict: poached eggs, jalapeño cheddar corn cakes, avocado, tomato & corn salsa (4/5). I liked and enjoyed my breakfast, which was fresh and light. Berry Basil Smoothie: blueberry, strawberry, basil, banana, agave, pomegranate, coconut water, lime juice (4/5). This was very delicious. My coworkers order the Everything Sandwich: everything cream cheese, peppered bacon, baby kale, roasted roma tomatoes (4/5). Flavorful, with a light freshness of all the ingredients. My other coworker ordered a side of Breakfast Potatoes & a Detox Juice: acai, pomegranate, coconut water, lime. Both really liked the breakfast potatoes, which had a crisp exterior crunch yet soft and creamy inside. Come check them out. Support your local business.
