A symphony of flatulence. It was late, I was hungry, and the nearest restaurant was miles away. I came up to the empty establishment and ordered a chicken burrito. It tasted kind of bland, like it could have used more hot sauce, salsa, or spices, but was filling enough. Thirty minutes later, my girlfriend is gasping for air as I am making very audible sounds from my behind. This lasted many hours. Mr Taco's - Soooooo delicious taco al pastor - Mexican Near Me - Dixon, California

Our NorCal Service Dog group met up this week in Mr. Taco again. Once again the service was good and we were not pressured to leave. We stayed for several hours, ordering a few dishes along the way. We were greeted warmly by the server and the owner, and made to feel at home. One of the things I like best about this restaurant is the second room of tables that seems less used and less busy. It was a great place to chat, eat some yummy and cheap Mexican food, and get some knitting done. Update: We've meet to Mr. Taco now about 10 times or so for our service dog meetups. I've never had anything there that wasn't super tasty. Pedro the owner is SO nice and even whipped up a vegetarian pazole especially for me a couple of times! This last time we got to try their French Fries, and you wouldn't think French Fries would be good a a Mexican place, but like everything else there, they were WONDERFUL! Not quite as good as the chocolate cake, but seriously you can't go wrong here. read more

Mr. Taco, you've come a long way since the orange colored stand right off the West A Street exit on the 80 in Dixon. I like the new location in the strip mall near the gas stations. The interior is clean and decorated well and the service is great. The food would merit 4 stars if they were at their old orange location. The food for a taqueria-like diner in a strip mall is very average. The service is pretty good, though. We started with a basket of chips and three salsas - a red, green, and pico. Those were pretty good and the server was attentive and refilled our chip basket promptly. Bf ordered a taco/enchilada plate and I had the special of the day, which was a pork tamale. Bf's taco had some juicy carne asada and a good amount of spice. I didn't taste the enchilada but, he was OK with it. My pork tamale had a good zing to the sauce and it wasn't overly spicy. The pork was a little dry but, it was edible. The rice and beans that came with our plates were standard - not really worth commenting on expect that it comes with the lunch plate. I like this place - it's a nice pit stop during a road trip on the 80. It beats the local fast food places any day. read more

In all honesty we didn't completely love the flavors from a few of the items we've tried so far (burrito, enchilada). They were ok, but we absolutely love the "papas locas" (french fries with choice of meat, sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo, beans, and cheese). We had to go back two days in a row for more! I really enjoyed them with the pork. Hey Mr Taco, I would love some fresh cilantro spread over the top to finish them off! I was also very happy with their cheeseburger. We found Mr Taco's on door dash and have to drive from Vacaville to pick up or it's currently an extra $9 delivery fee, but the drive isn't that long and the food has been fresh. Mr. Taco's is on our go-to list for sure. read more

This is by no means a fancy restaurant, but the food is delicious! I received prompt, friendly service and immediately given complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was THE BEST salsa I have tasted in Solano County! The reason for the 4-star review was for my Arnold Palmer (50/50 tea and lemonade) and the front door had fingerprints all over it. The door thing is just a pet peeve of mine (I used to own a restaurant) because it shows a lack of attention toward a customer's first impression and makes me worry about cleanliness. Once I got inside, I noticed that the floors and tables were very clean. The drink could have been better if it had been made with fresh lemonade rather than pink fountain lemonade. We have decided to try all of the tacos in Dixon and unfortunately these are at the bottom of my list. The price was fair and the service was friendly but the tacos lacked flavor. Hate to give a local business a bad review. But this is probably the worst Mexican food I've ever experienced. The tortas look like a sandwich I'd pack for a picnic bread was soggy and not torta like. The salsa is tomato sauce and garlic. Terrible. And the service is terrible to say the least. In my opinion I'd not recommend this place. Should have known from a place named Mr. Tacos you'd think the tacos would be good. Negative. I think Taco Bell makes better more flavorful tacos. read more

We ordered Mr. Tacos from Door Dash and my "shrimp diablo" burrito was such a disappointment. I don't know what "diablo" means to them, but it was utterly flavorless. It was supposed to have guacamole in it, yet there was none. It was essentially a really dry bean burrito with about 5 little tiny shrimp in it. Other than proximity to our Jiujitsu gym, there's no real reason why we would come here. Food is a little overpriced for my tastes. Ordered probably the worst horchata I've ever tasted today. Overall the quality just isn't there. I find it hard to believe that the quality of Mexican food can vary so much between here and places in Woodland and even Davis. Burrito was very small for a super burrito and the asada is mediocre, not worth the price

The ingredients are of poor quality. The restaurant is unclean and with cheap tables and chairs. I was mostly shocked when the guy working tried to charge me 2.25 for chips and salsa. I liked the food but doubt I will go again..I asked for salsa and pickled carrots for my burrito and the man(worker) stood up from his table and said the salsa has carrots in it and you only get one. And I was gonna leave a tip but he could've been nicer and said usually a burrito only get one salsa idk, but I left disappointed in the customer service for sure read more

Came across this place by accident while visiting Dixon to buy fireworks. Got kind of nervous because there were only two other customers besides our family (of 6). We were all starving though, so we decided to give it a go. I m sure glad we did! The portions were huge, the prices were low and the food was delicious! The service was friendly and quick, the decor charming, and the free chips and salsa they offer were scrumptious and not too spicy. Had a hard time believing it wasn t packed to the rafters with more customers! We re definately going to make visiting this place a monthly family date! I got the nachos with carne asada-and again, was nervous, because like most other places I've tried, I was worried they would overcook the meat. Not so! Ok this is the most underrated taqueria in Dixon. I think the name makes it sound non-authentic but it is authentic and so good! Fresh, delicious, nice portions. Breakfast burritos are amazing. We order from here once a week every week, we have since 2016 when we moved here and they have literally NEVER, NOT ONCE messed up a single item in our order. Don't be deterred by the name, this is definitely an awesome place for delicious, authentic Mexican food. read more

This place has to be the worst place I have ever stopped during a road trip. After being on the road for many hours and getting some Carl's JRs my husband wanted some tacos so we got some from here and when we tried to get down to eat in the outside patio a gentlemen told us we could not eat there due to me having a Carl's JR meal. Which was pretty rude plus this place had no costumers and I feel like it was not an issue to eat outside with my husband who had purchased a burrito from them. So we hopped back in the car and ate our food in the car while we watched this restaurant be lonely for the next half an hour that we ate. read more

I stopped by here because a friend of mine LOVES this place. It was good, but I think that I ordered the wrong thing. I think that I should have gone with a meal rather than a burrito. My burrito was good, not great--and the main issue for me was that the default beans in a burrito here is refried. I prefer whole or black beans and forgot to specify. My friend ordered a tamale and a chili relleno and they were both excellent. The relleno was one of the best I have tasted in a long time and when I come back that is what I will order. It was a perfect balance of cheese, to pepper, to coating. All in all, I think this is probably more of a 4 star place for main dishes, and a 3 star place for burritos....and I had to give 3 stars because of my order. Our Northern California Service Dog meet-up group often meets in Dixon and we were very lucky to find Mr. Taco! The food was tasty, the service exceptional, and it was a joy to be welcomed with our service animals. The waitstaff were very willing to modify our orders per dietary restrictions. There was a perfect table in the dining room where we were able to park our service dogs comfortably and relax. After lunch, we like to chat and drink coffee and the service continued to be excellent while we enjoyed ourselves. We'll be coming back soon! read more

The meat was bland and the tortillas were cold. The green salsa was so cold that it made the meat colder than desired. The chips for the chips and salsa were flavorless. A 1/2 hour later and I am looking for a pharmacy for some Pepto. The prices are ok, except for the soda which is a bit of a gouge $3.50 for a fountain drink. The host was nice and friendly. Man, those who got a chance to eat at the old location get to consider themselves part of the "back in my day" Old School! What a cool old - just off the interstate gem of a building. Sadly, I am not amongst those that got to pull off Hwy 80 and enjoy that awesome orange ambiance. That building is true Americana - with the extended awning of a full service gas station or roller skate diner but with the country isolation of a pie stand run by a friendly, if not quirky owner who resides in the back living quarters under the satellite dish and decorates the walls with UFO and conspiracy theory paraphernalia. But if it was the bright orange building that got me to pull off Hwy 80, it was the tacos at the new location that will get me to pull off next time I'm heading up to Tahoe! Great tacos, extensive menu, very friendly service! Mr. Taco is the best Mexican food I've ever had. My fiance and I stop in every time we are on Highway 80, even if we're not hungry (I know that sounds bad). The service is wonderful, the food is fresh and fantastic, and the pickled carrots they serve are mouth watering. Definitely miss the old orange dome. We were so excited to see the new location finally open up, many many road trips went by in 07 when we missed our favorite pit stop. read more
