RUN!! Transmission rebuilt and failed within 4-5 months and warranty DENIED!! I was sold a vehicle by an employee at this location, inside the building, with a newly rebuilt transmission done in January 2026, and it's April 2026; the transmission has already failed. The employee assured me that the transmission warranty follows the vehicle; he even supplied receipts for the warranty to support it. Upon returning after the transmission started to fail, the manager, Brian, knew about the vehicle sale at the location, acknowledges they did the work and still refuses to honor the warranty but instead wants to charge $2500 to rebuild again. If I were to pay to have it rebuilt, it would absolutely be at a different location or company. read more

This Mr. Transmission team knows what they are doing. They provide competent and professional estimates, do exactly what they say, provide excellent customer service, and do this at a great value. I have a Lexus RX350 with 147k miles. My oil change guy said I had a transmission leak. I took the car to a place on Buford Hwy who wanted me to leave it for 3 days and maybe he could give an estimate; I took it to the Lexus dealer and they wanted $190 to provide an estimate that was about twice the estimate of Mr. Transmission. Brian at Mr. Transmission told me the issue was the rear main seal but the transmission had to be removed to fix the seal. I asked him to replace the front seal on the transmission while he had it off, and to look for any other item that needed repair. He replaced both side axles for a small incremental price compared to doing it without having the transmission off. My SUV was ready when promised and Brian suggested a re-check in a couple of weeks to make sure nothing leaked; who else provides that type of customer service. I returned today and no drips, no runs, no errors; and a one year warranty for parts and labor. They even replaced all the fasteners on my engine covers. A quality job at a reasonable price. Got a call back within a few hours from Mike confirming that it was only low transmission fluid and not a bad transmission as I had feared. My normal mechanics don't do transmission work, they bring their personal cars to Mr Transmission. That tells me all I needed to know and I brought my car there. Every step in the process was great. They diagnosed the car quickly and got the repair done in a few days. I especially like the free check up appointment a few weeks after the initial repair is done to make sure there is nothing potentially needing adjustment. I purchased a new transmission from this company September 2020 here it is April 2022 in the transmission is bad. I called to get the information on the warranty and was told the warranty is only good for 12,000 miles or 12 months I spoke to Sherry Matthews. The first phone call she advised me of the expired warranty, she did state that I can bring the vehicle up there to get examined , I told her I was unsure because I could not believe in less than two years I need a new transmission already. I called my attorney so that she can look over my warranty, she asked me to call them back to get my warranty and also the company where the parts that was used came from. I called back I spoke to Sherry yet again I advised her my attorney is asking me for this information at this time Sherry began to yell at the top of her lungs stating that I am threatening her with an attorney I advised her I am not threatening her that I am not asking for the company tax documents. But as the customer I have the right to know. Unfortunately I couldn't say this because she kept cutting me off to the point were I yelled "Sherry am I not the customer". I said Im not yelling, I didn't cuss, I am just asking for simple documentation. She said yes you are the customer we appreciate you as a customer but you are threatening me. I stated to her if you are too unprofessional to handle this please give the phone to someone who can, she then put Brian on the phone who was way better at handling the situation. He listened to me without interrupting me explain to me the difference between a manufactured rebuilt transmission and a in-house transmission rebuilt. While on the phone with hime Sherry is still in the background yelling to me about the conversation we just had. I said Brian listen at her. He then had to put the phone on hold to get her together. Well, the transmission on my car needed to be rebuilt and this is where I ended up taking it. They did a good job and the owner seems to genuinely care about providing a good service. I'd probably recommend them if you need any transmission work done. As I'm sure you know, it's really hard to find a good mechanic that you can trust. You will get a quote here and a promise that it won't go over. My total came in @ about $100 less than the quote. Transmission rebuilding is expensive so the fact that you will receive a solid quote from this place is very important as far as I'm concerned. read more

I had a great experience here. Another shop recommended I go to a transmission specialist as they believed my problem was related to that. This is the first time I have EVER been to a mechanic that didn't try to sell me something I didn't need! I'm very appreciative of that. They simply did the free inspection, then told me everything was normal, that I may want to get a drain and fill done at some point, but even that wasn't urgent. Again I have NEVER been somewhere that would not have tried to scare me into getting services done immediately, and used fast talking shop lingo to describe why I should do that. *This is based off service without having a repair completed* I went in to have my 2002 Honda looked at because of slippage from 1st to 2nd gear. I had changed the transmission fluid and noticed it was reddish brown so feared the worst. When I came in I was expecting to have to drop the car off and wait half a day to get it looked at. Tom Nichols was the person I spoke to and much to my surprise he had it immediately looked at. I went to get coffee and after a little over an hour away I came back and he was able to diagnose it as a mechanical error requiring rebuilding the transmission. The price he gave was fair considering there is a warranty provided. He was very patient and thorough in his explanation of the issue. I have not proceeded with the repair yet because of the age of my car. But he was understanding and I just can't say enough about how great the service was. I have been going to the Goodyear car repair for many years and when I had transmission problems on my Ford Explorer they recommended the Mr. Transmission in Sandy Springs. Mr. Transmission did everything you would want - gave me a firm price, did the repair on time, asked me to bring it back in 30 days for a follow up, and as a result everything went perfectly. Intentionally Misleading Diagnostic Practices I was highly disappointed regarding my experience today at Mr. Transmission in Sandy Springs. I brought my vehicle in for a test drive to determine the source of erratic shifting after being told, over the phone, that a diagnostic was free. After leaving my vehicle for a few hours, I was told the inspection was complete and that my transmission was failing. Being a thrifty shopper, I wanted to receive a few quotes from various shops for a repair. Upon picking up my vehicle, I spoke with the shop foreman Lowell who confirmed what was said on the phone. When I asked him for a diagnostic write up, he told me with a sly grin that that would cost $89.95, as if he has played this "free at first but not really free" joke on many unsuspecting patrons before. I asked if he was serious and he responded "Yep, if I have to write it down it'll cost you $90". Not exactly the standard you want to set in terms of consistent message delivery, especially when one should realize that I was a potential $2500 customer for a new transmission. Once he and the secretary realized I was not going to have them do the work immediately I was basically shown the door in an incredibly rude manner. Honestly I felt patronized and lied to. Overall, the demeanor of the two employees I dealt with was the most unprofessional I have ever experienced in an automotive repair situation. Take your business elsewhere. read more

You should run away from this transmission shop as fast as you can! I got their name as a referral for my wife's Mountaineer and the owner, Lowell, as well as their son tried to gouge me! When They realized I wasn't going to pay over 2800 for a rebuilt transmission (the Ford dealer would put a new one in for less) Lowell started screaming at me and he wanted 800$ just for his looking in the peephole. The owner of this outfit was rude, greedy and all about the money. I am so sorry I brought my wife's car there and it ended in court where I got half of my money back. The research I did on Mr Transmission in Sandy Springs (I wish I did it earlier : ( showed numerous other suckers that were financially taken advantage of.
