They seem to Price Bait me. I WOULD'VE BEEN outa $300 (over) even before any work got started. No hourly rate No. Instead they break down every little minutiae and charge a pretty penny for it. I wanted to pay homage to this company because of the woman status....but not all of us are Only out to suck a person dry. I lived in Lansing over a decade. I will spread this to all I know and ask that they do the same. I was quoted $129 over the phone for a diagnostic visit to identify an electrical issue. The technician spent about an hour at my home troubleshooting the problem. I called Mrs.Michael plumbing and electrician on a Sunday and was told the service call would cost $129. However, I wasn't informed that the $129 only covered the technician's arrival. Once on-site, I was told diagnosing the issue would be an additional $450 -- and that price only covered two outlets, with anything else costing extra. I've rented homes for over 30 years, and I've never encountered such misleading pricing practices. read more

I have had this company do at least $20,000 of work at my house and I believe the only time I have not have at least one follow up appointment for their work was my whole house generator ... Their crews are very nice with the exception of an electrician I've had over twice for an intermittent issue with a light in my basement ... he asked if the power was out when the light wasn't working - I'm not really handy but I'm not an idiot - I could see if the power was out - next he told me he couldn't trace the electric line to the panel - I can trace the line to the panel and again, I have literally no clue what I'm doing ... he did offer to put in all new lighting in the unfinished part of the basement that is not connected to the light that is giving me issues for no apparent reason - why would I trust someone who can't follow an electrical line to replace all the lights in my basement that are working just fine ... Prior to this a socket in one of my bedrooms stop working after some large scale electrical work - I plugged a lamp in to it and my phone charger and nothing happened - the electrician told me it just didn't work, when it had worked before they did the electrical work ... I had another electrician come out to fix it and they easily discovered that the light switch in that room had stopped working properly, replaced it and the outlet worked fine ... Most recently - as in 30 minutes ago - I went down in the basement to get something out of my spare freezer and went and checked on the light that still works intermittently and discovered that, for the third time, the whole house humidifier is leaking pretty severely ... the first time it nearly made it to the dry wall ... as you will hear in the video I'm about to post, that this is the third time I have had them out for this exact problem - the first time I had them out to fix it this they told me there wasn't an issue because I had turned the dehumidifier off so it would stop leaking and they didn't believe that it had flooded - the second time I took video and they 'fixed it' and this is the third time ... I had another electrician put in two attic fans for me so I'll be switching to them, I've already switched plumbers - due to a warranty I will likely continue to use Mrs. Michael for my HVAC and generator until the warranty goes out ... Just don't even get started using Mrs. Michael - save yourself ALOT of issues ... Update: they are now no longer 24/7 - if you call after hours (which begin right at 5pm, because apparently they think their customers don't have jobs) you get an AI bot who pretends to made an appointment ... I set one from 1-5pm today no confirmation or anything so I talked to the AI bot again yesterday to confirm my appointment for today - it still couldn't do that .,, it's 930am and they are on the way out so I guess screw any meetings I had for this morning ... Update as of 10/19/2025 - checked on the dehumidifier when I was down in the basement for something else and it is leaking again ... I'm gonna see how.hard small claims court is in Michigan - if it is as easy as Texas I'll be doing the paperwork in the next few days ... I will be calling them in the morning since I don't want to talk to the stupid AI bot again so I have some chance of getting an appointment at the time I request ... Workers were great and they came out immediately, but despite sending out a hot water heater repair man on the day we called and then a furnace repair man a few days later (issue is hot water heater), they couldn't say with certainty what's wrong. We haven't had any problems since they came out, but by their own report, they didn't actually do anything. Just took apart various pieces to see if anything was malfunctioning and didn't find any problems. The conclusion they arrived at is that there might not be enough combustible air in our house. Our house was built in the 70's and hasn't had extensive improvements since then. It's definitely not air tight. Anyway, hard to say if I would use them again. Liked the experience interacting with them but we'll see if the hot water heater goes out again. read more

I was charged $740 to replace four GFI outlets and one outdoor bubble cover . I called around to several other places and found the same work to be half or slightly more than half of what i was charged. I don't mind paying for things that I am not comfortable doing, but I do not expect to be charged double of what the going rate is. On another note, my technician was very knowledgeable and I realize he does not control pricing. I made an appointment for a week and a half out. my understanding was we arranged for a specific time. I called 1/2 hour prior to the appt to confirm they were coming. was told he would call when finished the job they were on. an hour after our appt time I called back and was told that I wasn't given an appointment time and they have a window til 5. I was calling one hour before 5. I was told they are on the east side of Detroit, I'm about 20 minutes north of Ann Arbor. no way this person is going to get here by five. The circuit breaker in my garage tripped numerous times and I was concerned that there might be a fire hazard. The technician said it would be $500.00 to determine the cause and fix it if he could. He could not find the cause which is crazy because breakers don't trip for no reason. He was here an hour and charged me $370.00 and left me worried about more problems or fire hazard. The person at Mrs Michael I told of my dissatisfaction told me to call the fire department. What?? I will NEVER use them again and urge everyone to be aware of their marketing strategy which seems to be to do as little as possible and get the maximum dollar. read more

I called Mrs. Michael because I had a clogged main drain that was causing sewage to back up into the house. I have a local plumber that I normally use but I misplaced his number and need someone out immediately to resolve the issue. I called around 9am and requested a 150ft cable to snake. They assigned the order and dispatched someone to arrive between 2-8pm. I receive a call a little after 6pm informing h me that the plumber assigned to me doesn't have a 150ft cable but can still come when attempt to resolve the issue with a 75ft cable. by this time all other locations were closed and I couldn't get anyone else to come out. I have a family of seven with a 8 month pregnant wife and we have no facilities to use, so I agree to have him attempt with a 75ft cable. The plumber gets there and finds that the issue is stemming from the new addition and would need to access the main drain by removing the toilet, snaking the drain and then reinstalling the toilet. The quoted price was around $800. I declined the repair as I know how to remove a toilet and install one and could save $500. The next day I call my normal plumber to see if he can come out after I remove the toilet. He proceeded to tell me that either the plumber is new/inexperienced or he is trained to increase prices to make more money. The local plumber came over and snaked the drain from the vent on the roof with the same 75ft cable and resolved the issue for $175. I paid Mrs Michael $90 to do essentially nothing other than tell me what I already knew. read more

They told me $129 to come out and problem shoot it. No it was $129 to knock on my door, an additional $277 to figure out what's wrong with it and that $277 would come off the price of them fixing it. Then, wanted me to spend more to have them fix what was wrong with it but there is no guarantee that it would correct the issues we were having. $406 to open the panel and tell me rusty water from the iron is getting inside it. The service was to replace a tank water heater for a tankless. At the time, I had minimal knowledge of tankless water heaters. Rather than bore you with the details, let's just say the sales guy was not very knowledgeable of the products he sold. After a little more research on my part, I realized what he selected for me was not what I ultimately wanted. I had stressed that I wanted a recirculation system that was able to be controlled by a daily timer. The unit I switched over to had that capability. But when the installers arrived, I find out that there was something called a deluxe package that he sold me that did not come with the recirculation feature I wanted. It just seems like the sales guy wasn't listening or did not know enough about his products to be able to understand the feature I was looking for. Plus in my back-and-forth with him over the phone, on several occasions he had promised to get back with me and never did. This had me wondering if he was even looking into my concern and was he ever going to call back.. It's frustrating when you spend so much money and you don't get what you know you asked for. He also tacked on a service package that I didn't ask for. Apparently the Service package was supposed to give me a 5% discount on parts and services, but he already gave me a 5% senior discount for parts and services and you couldn't combine the two discounts for 10%. So he sold me a service package for a discount that I already had for being a senior. So, in the end, after all of my own research on the product, after having to change the order to get exactly what I wanted, the sales guy put in an order that had this deluxe package thing that did not include the one specific item that I wanted from the beginning, the recirculation valve. This whole experience left such a bad taste in my mouth. I've decided to forgo those annual service visits that I paid for just so I don't have to deal with this company again. read more
