(4.5 stars) Another great DDD recommendation, and a unique one at that. Potato is obviously the star here, so don't miss out on a rosti. They're super filling but the chicken catupiry one is awesome, and the Brazilian cream cheese bridges the chicken and the crispy potato nicely. We also got a bunch of the empanadas, favorite one was definitely the ground beef. The only disappointing thing really were some of the side dishes (like the French fries) which were just very standard and more of a distraction than anything. This is both a counter serve and sit down restaurant. Although there are only three tables in the building, an adjacent permanent tent accommodates many more. The menu offers many variations of potatoes rosti, and also baked potatoes. Rosti is essentially a beret-sized mound of hashbrowns with whatever filling you like. I tried the Chicken Catupiry Rosti. I enjoyed the crispy brown hashbrown crust, but the filling wasn't my favorite. In addition to potatoes, they also have many Brazilian and South American entrees and appetizers. My favorite was the empanada. The beef version I ordered was unavailable so I tried cheese, and it was excellent, with a delicate crust cooked a perfect golden brown, and served with an excellent salsa/relish. Service was excellent, very friendly and efficient. I was impressed that every customer was promptly and warmly welcomed upon arrival. WOW!! I had heard how awesome this place was, and since we were in the direct area, we decided to stop by. Just finished and already talking about when we're going to come back. I had the buffalo chicken Rosti. My husband suggested that over the loaded one and I kind of wish I had just stuck with the original. It was still really good, but I always forget I don't love pulled chicken (that's a me thing, not a them issue by far). It was gigantic!!! My husband loved his burger-the Mrs. Potato burger with what seemed like everything under the sun. I honestly can't wait to come back. They have churros on the menu and I didn't have a chance to have any and I am SO sad. But super reasonable prices considering how much food you get!! Can't wait to try another potato. read more

I heard about this little dive on "Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives" and was so excited to try it out. And let me just say that everything was ahhh-mazing!!! My sister and I got here right before noon, and the place was already packed. We were able to get seated, though, right away, and our very-attentive server gave us some recommendations as we looked through the menu. The Rosti (stuffed potato hashbrown goodness!) was highly recommended and it comes in so many different flavors - we landed on splitting the Calabresa (Brazilian pork sausage) and it was truly unlike anything I've ever had before! It was a delicious blend of flavors and didn't overpower in any way. I was so glad we split this, because we left very full! Service was impeccable, too! All the servers were super attentive with water refills, condiment needs, etc., and shared warm smiles with the customers. The owner's daughter also continued to make rounds, checking on guests and seeing if everything was going well. It was a very warm and inviting atmosphere, and I loved the family vibe to it. As we were getting ready to leave, we were left with parting Brazilian cheese bread and it was absolutely delicious - warm, light, and cheesy. A perfect way to end such a great lunch! Every. single. person. working at Mrs. Potato Restaurant is incredibly friendly and accommodating. Our server was so lovely, funny, and personable as were other workers --offering condiments, water refills, etc. We were checked on consistently to see if we needed anything, and if we did we were shown such efficient and friendly service. Upon reading the other Yelp reviews I knew we needed to try the veggie rosti and the churro (our server made it for us her favorite way with Nutella on the inside and dulce de leche on the outside--it was amazing!) We also got yucca fries, a palm of hearts empanada, and a loaded baked potato sans bacon, and the flan which my brother described as "probably the best flan I've ever had". Yelp brought me here. When we walked in, we were greeted and sat at a table on the enclosed patio area to the right of the restaurant. Very smart use of the space. We were given menus and our server stopped by momentarily. Our server gave us a few suggestions, telling us that the Rosti is what they're known for so was HAD to try it. We ordered the beef empanadas and the Calabresa Rosti to share. The beef empanada was huge! It was really good with olives (which I picked out) and a slithered of a hard boiled egg? Never seen Egg in an empanada but definitely appreciated it. The Rosti was so good! It was a huge "hash brown" stuffed with onions, cheese and Brazilian Pork Sausage. Absolutely delicious!! So, I see you're a "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives" fan. Been watching some of what Flavor Town has to offer, have you? Well, I can certainly understand. I mean, we did just like you: we watched Guy Fieri, bookmarked, and the very next time we found ourselves in town, we followed in his footsteps. And there she was, waiting for us: Mrs. Potato! I'll tell you, I was a bit surprised, though, when we finally came upon the restaurant, as it's smaller than I'd expected, sitting at the tail end of an extra-long strip mall, not far at all from the Disney World Resort. Even the signage, blending in with the many others along the plaza, eluded us at first. However, it didn't surprise me at all that Mrs. Potato was packed! And what does that mean? Dinner's going to be tasty! And tasty it was! Imagine some crispy hash browns--you can do that, can't you?--and then stuff them with cream cheese, some ham, and some onions...all served Brazilian-style!!! Maybe that last part lost you. Diners, Drive-ins and Dives brought me here and boy did they not steer me wrong. I am an Orlando local and shame on me for never have visiting this place before. Mrs. Potato is a Brazilian restaurant that is as you guessed it...potato themed. Walking in you are greeted by a wall full of potato heads which was such a clever and quirky idea for decor I loved it. The restaurant had both indoor and outdoor seating and masks were required for entrance of the restaurant. I had came very late in the evening for a quick bite and was seated almost immediately. My server Matheus was amazing as he went in depth to explain to me the menu to ensure I had a good overview of all the popular dishes and his own recommendations, he was such a nice and personable guy. Honestly, I was observing all the workers interacting with customers throughout my time at the restaurant and I must say that each and every one of them provided five star customer service which truly shows by the number of customers that were coming in and out . I could definitely tell that this is a favorite spot for locals. I had decided to go with the Calabresa, Cheese and Onions ROSTI Potato as I was told it's one of the more popular flavors and I added the catupiry on the top which is like a Brazilian cream cheese. Let me just say... WOW this thing is huge and tasty. Now this could easily be shared between 2 people if you wanted to get this for like an appetizer... but of course me being the gluttonous person I am I wanted it all to myself lol. It was oh so satisfying... it had nice crunchy parts on the outside and was ooey gooey cheesey on the inside. This was a potato lovers dream. The only way I can explain this dish to someone is to think of an over sized hash brown stuffed with cheese, onion and sausage. The sauces accompanying it which is the house chili sauce and garlic sauce definitely took this dish over the top. I have to say that after finishing this whole dish by myself I definitely felt like a potato but I did not regret one bit of it. i saw mrs potato on diners, drive ins, and dives about a month ago and had my trip to orlando planned, so this got added to the itinerary and i'm so glad i did. i've stayed so close to this restaurant so many times (it's super close to universal studios!!) and i'm upset with myself that ive never been! we went for lunch and they had a few open tables but most were full. they had so many different mr potato heads around the restaurant and most of the walls were decorated (and looked recently renovated too!). my mom and i love brazilian food so we were excited to try the cheese balls, and although they were a bit different than the brazilian cheese bread we've had in the past (and love) this was still wonderful and we got the garlic sauce with it and i wish i could've gotten a gallon of the garlic sauce. it was that good. it wasn't mayonnaise-y like many garlic sauces/aiolis and it wasn't too pungent either. it was perfectly balanced. we both got the calabresa sausage rosti, and honestly we could've split just 1 because they were that big an filling. my mom and i love rosti in switzerland, and this was very similar, except this was stuffed with a filling, where traditionally it would be topped with it. didn't taste and less wonderful though! i wanted to try the brazilian flan also, but was so full i didn't dare add anything else to my stomach before my flight. read more

Saw this on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives and had to put on my list to check it out. For a whole year, my sister and I have been trying to come here but we would just run out of time during her Orlando visits. Finally, we had a night to get it in! And I wish we would of had it sooner. Potatoes. Who doesn't love a good loaded baked potato or hash browns? That is basically what you are getting here. For those of you getting off from Universal Studios, know that there is a potato place nearby which is fairly cheap and delicious. It is busy, so expect the service to be slow and may need to take it to go since it is a tiny place, even with their backdoor patio. Three of the four of our party ordered a Rosti - which is a loaded hash brown. We ordered the mix and match of chicken drops and cheese balls for an appetizer, and then for the rostis, we had the Beef Stroganoff, The loaded and the Carne Seca. We also ordered the grilled steak and egg meal with brown rice, pinto beans and vegetables. Each were delicious. My girlfriend wished she had discovered the place when she used to work at universal! The portions for the rostis are large, so they each took half of theirs to go. The steak is good, and although it was a lot for a meal, I kinda wish I would have had the Rosti. Super unique place!!! It's like a blast from the past as soon as you walk in. There's nice screened in patio seating. It was a quiet afternoon when I went yesterday. Our servers were very knowledgeable about the menu and courteous when my friend asked 1 million questions and sampled 3 different things. Overall the food was great. However, my Cuban boyfriend felt it lacked enough seasoning (that's on him). I had the gnocchi, he had the steak. Also an appetizer of chicken drops! But the dessert!!! Started out great but went down hill with items waitress suggested. Kolache was wonderful and the items served on the table next to us l( proteins with fries and beans ) looked good and patrons said it was. The chicken nuggets had no flavor except for the Thai chili dipping sauce or garlic mayonnaise and mostly breading. The Brazilian sausage potato cake they had featured on diners drive in and dives had a beautiful crust on the potatoes but NO FILLING EXCEPT ONIONS and even that was limited. Huge disappointment for $14.99. I also got a beer on draft that was /$4. Came in a 6oz. Mug that was 1/2 foam . So both too small a mug for price and poor presentation. read more
