Feb 24th made a request to service my BBQ grill. Serviceman came out same day to access and charged me $475 dollars to order parts, said it would be a few days for parts. After a few weeks I contacted them, they said some of the parts were damaged and needed to be re-ordered. Since then I can't contact them, only busy signal on landline and get message on cell. On Sunday Oct 13th 2020 I called MSM appliance repair, they didn't answer but sent a text right away asking what I needed. I stated I needed my refrigerator fixed ASAP. Mitch Monsen came that day 2 hours later. He stated he needed to order a part for the fridge and would be back on the 19th or sooner if the part came early. He told us we would have to pay for the part up front so I gave him 370 dollars. (I shouldn't have gave him the money up front but I was just hoping for the best) Well the part arrived Saturday Oct 17th 2020 and come to find once he got here he realized he ordered the wrong part. All this time I'm having to text him for updates on this situation, you would think as professional he claims he is he would give me updates. He said he would make this right and expedite the right part and be back ASAP! About a week later he still didn't show up with the part so I began asking hey what's going on? He said it hasn't arrived yet. I asked if I could see the tracking number so I know when the part comes in and he said I can't give you that information. At this point I knew he was scamming me and called him out on it and and he got mad and ended his service with me. He said he would send the money back but never did. We had a dishwasher that decided it didn't want to cooperate in the middle of the weekend, with the next day being Easter Sunday. MSM replied timely late on Saturday, and still arrived on a Holiday the next day. Replies to messages through yelp were timely, and likely even quicker if more traditional direct text messages were used. (it was timely enough here so I didn't try using another method). Mitch was friendly, and quickly made the repair. Will use again if the need arises. I don't usually bring up other review comparisons, but I was a bit nervous when going through reviews. I didn't experience any of the issues some of the 1 star reviews I have seen made me worry about They were honestly are so far from what I saw it in my personal experience it makes me feel like there must be something fake about them, or someone held some sort of vendetta. Mitchel is very responsive.. however he is either incompetent or dishonest and trying to get two visits when it should only take one. I knew what was wrong when I placed the service request and asked how much it would cost and if he could fix it one the first visit. He assured me he could but didn't. Then, he charged me almost twice as much as he said it would be and wanted to charge me for another visit to fix what I already knew was wrong. Summary: I spent $470 for them to not fix my problem, and they were extremely difficult to get a hold of over the phone. I would never recommend them Our oven stopped working, so Mitch came out to take a look. He diagnosed the problem, recommended a replacement part, and ordered it for us when we went ahead with the repair. He was professional, offered us a cash discount since the part was expensive, and emailed us a receipt. We paided in cash a day or two later. Overall, it was a very good experience. However, things went downhill from there. The part was originally going to take a week to arrive. After waiting a week and not hearing back from Mitch, I gave them a call and left a message. I didn't get a call back that day or the next, so I called again asking if the part had arrived. I still didn't hear back that day or the next. I finally heard back on the third day after the second call saying that my part had arrived and asking when Mitch could install it. Thankful that I received a call back, I set up a date and time for the repair. Mitch showed up, repaired the oven, and everything seemed to be working great. However after Mitch left, we noticed that the oven door was getting usually hot when we turned on the oven. This was not happening before the repair, so I gave Mitch a call to see if he could come back and figure out why this was happening. Again I never received a call back. After calling once a day for 5 days, I finally got a hold of someone and scheduled another appointment with Mitch. Mitch came out again, checked to see if the oven was calibrated correctly, and did some other diagnostics. He wasn't sure exactly why this was happening, but had a few ideas. I was hesitant to sink more money into the oven, so I told him I would think about it and get back to him. After a few days, I gave him a call and left a message about fixing the oven, but he never called me back. Soon my oven quit working again, so I eventually gave up and contacted another company. They were able to diagnose the problem and fix it. In the end, it looks like I spent $470 on MSM Appliances for them to not fix my problem. FRAUD! Do NOT use this company. My original estimate came out to $548 to fix our dryer and fridge ice machine. They claimed they needed the payment upfront, before service. I was naive in thinking that this was ok. They came out to fix our dryer and said the part they needed to fix the fridge would take 2 days to deliver. A week and a half later, I still never heard from them. I finally had to call and see what was going on and they came out to install the ice machine later that day. A few days later I checked my credit card statement and they ended up having 2 different charges from MSM appliance, one payment of $500 and another for $598, neither or which is my original $548 estimate. Called 5 times to discuss and never heard back. Had to file a fraudulent charge with my credit card company. On a side note...not sure if this is related, but a week later, I received another fraudulent charge on this same credit card from "h2o Water" which was not my charge. Ended up having to cancel that credit card. Again, not sure if it was related, but the timing was pretty coincidental. read more

When my hubby and I recently bought a house, we were really excited about the hefty commercial-grade, dual-oven range that came with it -- talk about a chef's kitchen! However, we found out after the fact that neither of the ovens worked! I paid over $1600 for a new oven door in September and they will not respond to my many inquiries and I still have no oven door. Mitch came out to clean my dryer vent. He gave me a 4hr window and texted me when he was headed to my house. Cleaned the vent. Since there was so much lint I went ahead and had him service the dryer. Little did i realize it was a true fire hazard. So much lint was covering the heater. It was actually scorched. Lesson learned. Check your dryer often. Amazing service! I didn't catch his name, I'm assuming it's mike lol. I called two days ago and got an appt for today. He came literally right at the window (8-9) he was here on the dot at 8 am. They even called beforehand. He diagnosed the problem within minutes, and gave me an estimate before he continued. $130 to fix the issue causing the freezer to leak water into our fridge was well worth the comfortability and professionalism of the service. He explained the issue to me twice because I couldn't remember the first time lol. And he wasn't annoyed or anything. Had good conversation he didn't just come in and demand money and leave. As soon as I paid them they stopped responding to my messages, and never returned to complete the repairs. This unfortunately seems to be a common practice with this company. Use someone else! He showed up on time, was able to diagnose the issue with my dishwasher and even had time to look at the clothes dryer that had stopped working that morning. Mitch misdiagnosed our refrigerator TWICE. We felt it was the compressor and he said it wasn't. First he said it needed to be cleaned out from behind. Didn't fix the problem. He then said it needed freon and added an attachment to the back and added freon. Didn't fix the problem. He then said he was going to come out again to check for a freon leak. He had us wait on him all day. We called to check on when he'd arrive and he said he wouldn't be coming back and that pretty much he didn't know what was wrong with it. He charged us even though he never repaired it. We called another company out and of course it was a bad compressor which was still covered under warranty! I would not recommend him to work on refrigerators. ALSO...Mitch actually agreed to refund us some of the amount we were charged since he kept misdiagnosing it and continued to charge us when he didn't really even know what was wrong with it. He told us he would mail us a refund check. He NEVER sent the refund and NEVER replied to our many messages asking when and if the refund would be sent. Mitch should have been honest and just told us he didn't know what was wrong with the refrigerator in the first place then let us call someone else who could actually diagnose the problem and fix it!! Instead Mitch charged us a couple hundred dollars as he tried to figure out what was wrong. When that didn't fix the problem, I contacted Mitch twice by email and twice by phone to let him know that I need to schedule another appointment. Mitch will not return my calls or emails. I had the absolute worst experience with Mitch. I believed in him for a long time with our repair. He was on time ,repaired a refrigerator With just the basic repair rate, I was impressed at that time that he tried to do the cheapest fix possible for me and not take advantage of me. But it did not work on the fridge and he told me it needed a new electrical/computer panel which would be $600. He said he needed to be paid upfront because most of it was in the cost of the parts. I trusted him enough to pay him. It didn't come in for a very long time and then when it did, he 'installed it' and it still didn't repair it, but he basically said 'oh well I tried'. No more offers to repair, of course no refund or even partial refund or credit toward future appliance probs. So $h600 later I still had to get rid of my refrigerator and buy a new one. And the worst part is I don't even know if he changed out the electrical panel, he may just have pretended to do that so he's not out any money. I have no way of knowing that. I should've trusted my instincts and called a more reputable and established company. I was trying to patronize a local business and save some money. This ended up being a huge waste of time and money. It took them 4 appointments (each of which cost me 3-4 hours of my time) to realize and acknowledge that they could not fix my dryer and vent problem. I also had to go to the laundromat 3 different times because this ordeal took so long. I ended up having to call another company to finish cleaning the vent. MSM was initially very responsive... until they agreed to give me a partial refund (the amount I had to pay the next company to finish the vent cleaning job). They said they mailed me a money order on May 2, and then said they would look into it when I told them I never received it. Then they completely stopped responding to me. They told me their work and customer satisfaction were guaranteed. This has not been my experience with this company. Also, when they say they clean your dryer vent from the dryer to the roof, they don't mean they actually get on the roof. They use an auger at the dryer vent and hope it reaches the roof. They don't tell you that they don't get on the roof until they are at your house. Be sure to discuss hourly labor rates beyond the initial quote, and tell them you want to know before that rate begins. I did not feel the billing was very transparent. read more

So I actually did not have any services performed by this company, but I felt it was important to still provide a review. I'll explain: I contacted MSM Appliance repair to come out to check and clean our clothes dryer duct. Mitch came out on the scheduled date and time and evaluated the situation. Upon completing the evaluation, Mitch informed me that my duct system did not need cleaning as it was connected through the wall to the outside of the house and not up through the attic. Honestly, he could have started the shop vac, ran it for 5 minutes and still charged me for the job. He didn't charge me one cent, which leads me to my 5 star rating. This rating is for honesty, character and reputation, which unfortunately in todays world for some businesses, is few and far between. I showed Mitch my front load washing machine, which will need the rubber gasket at the entry replaced in the very near future.
