The fish used is not top grade in the sushi. I would assume it is of low grade. The fish is mushy and not firm like a top grade tuna. The taste isn't there either. The taste is very bland. The service was good but the smiles and kindness were absent. The salad was very good and the meso soup was excellent. The restaurant has an older feel but seemed clean enough. Do not pay the up charge for the fried rice! Unless you feel like it is worth $2.50 to squirt some oil and soy sauce on rice to then have your chef fling it all over the grill and your table. My daughter even had some sauce land on her arms and dress. Our service was poor and our drink and food orders were incorrect. The "fried" rice was bland and you don't get many veggies. Where to start? I only have the atmosphere a 2 because one of the other customers was a priest. So we stopped in on a Saturday evening around 6:30 pm, we were traveling and our kids wanted hibachi for dinner. Used google and pulled this place (about 10 miles off our path, but whatever). It started with the server taking drink orders, 1 Mr. Libby, 1, lemonade, 1 Sprite, 2 waters and a large saki to split between my wife and I. We received 2 Pibbs, 2 Sprites...and that was it. Got the issue corrected but still charged us for that extra soft drink. Food order, 3 kids hibachi, 2 adults, steak and shrimp for the wife, shrimp and scallops for me. Soups came out, another family was seated at our table about 2 miles off minutes after our soups were served, and they were already served their soups and salads while we sat there trying to get any servers attention to ask if we could possibly get our salads, but our server wanted to argue that "kids hibachi no come with salad" my kids are 8,7,5...cool, but what about the 2 adults sitting here? Still kept repeating the same thing until my wife said "ma'am, we understand but my husband and I are adults" so then they seemed like it was a real pain in their ass to get those 2 pre-made salads. Chef comes out and is going over the orders before he starts one of the worst hibachi chef displays, but he insisted that we ordered 2 steak and shrimps. I do not eat red meat, so I am pretty sure I know what I ordered. This guy was flinging food everywhere, I wish I would have taken a photo of the aftermath. My 8 year old took banked a broccoli floret off his right cheek onto my plate, rice was flying off the cooktop, noodles...it was reminiscent of Jack Tripper during his hibachi days on "Three's Company". There was zero showmanship, mostly because the chef appeared to either not know how to operate a lighter, or he was really scared of fire. So to finish the review, if you are going to see how Hibachi is not done, this is your spot; but if you are wanting Japanese hibachi with the entertainment experience, this is not for you. read more

Based on the few visits I've had I'd say this is a solid 3.5 option. Having not had sushi in months that's what I selected on a recent visit. I had pieces of 3 different rolls (Cali, Spicy Tuna, Crunch Crab). All were good if not mind-blowing. Fresh tasting but somewhat basic on flavor. But well constructed and it mostly fit my craving. The tempura is really good, the hibachi options are usually pretty good as well. Service was friendly, prices very economical. Well tonight we went to Mt Fuji. When we got there we where excited to get the grill side. Now this wasn't our first time by any means. Back story - over the last couple of months the food quality has been going downhill. The person behind the grill isn't a very good cook. I've eaten a lot of hibachi grills over the years. You pay for a show and great food. This place has always from the first time I've been absolutely sucked as far as the show goes. And tonight I'm currently writing this review with an upset stomach due to the food quantity. There rice is crunchy and the chicken was dry. The guy working the checkout asked me how my experience was and I told him if sucked. So he asked what was wrong and I told him. I thought he might make it right on the bill and do the right thing but no. He charged me the full amount for food that wasn't even good. I hope the health department pays them a little visit. The have cross contamination going on there also. And to top it off my youngest daughter has severe food allergies and the cook was tossing food everywhere contaminating my daughters food that was cooked in the back kitchen to help prevent her food allergies. Mind you these food allergies that she has could kill her if she comes into contact with certain foods. We take this serious and won't be back after tonight. read more

I came here today and the service was okay. it wasn't outstanding but it wasn't horrible. The chef was friendly, but the waitresses were not very talkative although they were fast with refills. The food was good and there was no issue with that. My problem was I went to bathroom and noticed that the person in the stall next to me was doing number 2, and we happen to leave our stalls at the same time. I realized that person was a waitress and she did not wash her hands. she walked right out of the bathroom. I know she didn't wash her hands in the kitchen either because I walked out a few seconds after her and she was making drinks. As someone who has dealt with illnesses due to the person serving me food not washing their hands, It really concerned me and gave this restaurant a bad look. We have not visited this place in about 4 years due to my wife finding the pad that soaks up blood in a chicken package in her food. (Not hibachi) Went last night because my parents wanted to take my son to eat for his 18th birthday. The worst hibachi experience I've ever had. The waiter did not say anything other than asked how my steak was to be cooked. He did nothing but cool the food which was mediocre. He did no tricks for the kids or even say hi. My dad asked for yum yum sauce when he got his rice. The cook looked at him and then went back to cooking. My mom went and asked the waitress if we could have yum yum, keep in mine it is on the cooks cart. He hears her I assume grabs it and starts pouring it directly over my dads entire plate. Then grabs the trays and slams them in front of everyone and fills them. The wait staff was fine but the cook was extremely rude. My family and I walked in, and we were sat at a table. Our first clue to leave should have been when the waiter arrive and asked what we wanted to eat before the menus were handed out. Then the chef arrived, he places all the rice and noodles on at the same time. We had 8 people (he used only two eggs) for the fried rice. No salt no pepper. Just rice, egg and soy sauce (that didnt even cover all the rice). When he put the rice on my husbands plate it went all over the table. Then he put all the meat for 8 people. (Steak, chicken, shrimp, scallops, and lobster. He left the seafood while he cooked the steaks. I asked for medium rare and was given a pile of the medium. The cuts were inconsistent. My steak was not cut through so i had to pull apart. Portions were not equal. Then he cooked the seafood and my daughters scallops were so overcooked they were rubber. Same with the lobster. He continued to cook seafood while he finished the chicken. He kept touching the raw chicken and then would touch the vegetables. (Can we say cross contamination). After the chicken was cooked then he cooked the shrimp and scallops. Then he cooked lobster. There was no show, no tricks, he did not even say thank you at the end. He did not say how is everything. Mt. FujI is a great place to eat! My only comment is that I wish they stayed open later but other than that, it is amazing! These comments on here are ridiculous. Yes the food is high, but have you see how much a McDonals meal costs these days? When you go to a nice sit down restaurant, you expect to pay more. That is just how it works. Although the price is high, you can get a lot of food with it. Most of the time I see two people ordering one meal and that's plenty to fill them up. Sometimes they even have to take some home too because there is so much food! So I think the price is right for how much food you are getting. The seafood there is fresh too. Most of the time it's hard to get such good quality of seafood in a small town. The process of keeping it fresh takes a lot of work. So don't scare to order seafood! Staff there is great since English is not their first language. As we all know, English is one of the hardest language to learn so compliments to them. When we were first even sat, they asked us immediately what we wanted but we JUST sat down! They all seemed like they were new. My scallops were almost burnt and my dad's lobster was rubbery. My husband and I moved here from Nashville where there are a plethora of Japanese restaurants to choose from, including my absolute favorite. I was skeptical on our first visit, but I was firmly impressed with that first visit, and we have been back several times now. The food was good, the hibachi is pretty typical fare, but the sushi really shined. I couldn't believe I was getting such good maki in such a tiny little landlocked town! There's a good variety to choose from. They also have an awesome Happy Hour for sushi in the mid-late afternoon where the basic rolls are only $2-3. If you can take a late lunch, go for it! My only complaint is that they are a little *too* pricy for what you get. I'd expect to pay $20+ for a meal at a fancy over-the-top hibachi place back home, but not at a pretty standardized, average mom and pop spot in Madisonville. I love this place normally give it 4 or 5 stars. Tonight however, not the case. We was put with a big party - NO social distancing. We was rushed through ordering because the other party had already ordered. I asked for no mushrooms-nasty and my fiance asked for no egg in the rice...we got mushrooms and egg. We use to go here all the time and the food was decent. Before when we would go after work, and they were quick on taking order. The one good thing was the good came out quick (usually because we were he only ones there). The service there is terrible. Nothing gl wrong with family ran business but they are extremely rude and don't apologize for their mistakes. On multiple occasions, they would bring the wrong sushi order or may just forget to tell the chef to make it. No apologizing at all. read more
