Went here last night, this was our second time, first time was hibachi, not a big fan of hibachi, so I decided to try the regular menu. I found that alot of the food on the menu was deep fried, suprising to me for this type of food. We ordered a kani salad, steamed veg dumpling, and dinner. Within minutes the salad and dumpling arrived at the same time as the miso soup and the salad, why? Why couldnt they pace this out as opposed to dumping all the food on us at once? Where to start???? The owners of this place just flat out stink and I hope this restaurant fails. We came to mount fuji for my daughters despite hearing the service sticks. The night started with 5 star service with our chef until the owners yelled at him for having fun with and making our group happy. After he was done with his thing we were completely forgot about. Not even a offer for desert or water or anything. 14 people and a 600.00 bill you would think they would want to give us some type of service. Then when we went to the owners to tell them about the chef and then talk to our concerns about the service they kept walking away from us as though the wanted us to just leave. Walked out. 6 people in the place and get seated on top of them because they were one course into their dinner. They take our order and then ask us to move and to sit at another hibachi table with a group with 8 that has 4 children under 4 years old, now I have two children of my own (who were with us) but the group of 8 should have been left alone. We walked out because the service sucks. Went to Kyoudai Hibachi & Sushi Steakhouse and let me tell you better food great service and cheaper. Stay away from Mt Fuji poor customer service and over priced. read more

We have been here 3 times since it opened in the Spring of 2011 and have been very pleased every time. Today we went for lunch...my wife and I both ordered from the specials menu. My wife had the Shrimp and Mango Salad and she loved it. I had the 2012 Tempura Lobster Roll. Wow, it was delicious and presented beautifully. Trust me, we will be back again and again. read more

I had lunch today at Mount Fuji and as always the food was good. I ordered the shrimp hibachi lunch it comes with choice of soup or salad ,fried rice ,Vegetables and about 6 medium size shrimp. I think it's a good deal for 12.00 and the food it's fresh and tasted great. I work very close so I often eat lunch here and have yet to order one thing I didn't like. I had made a reservation for 6:30 me and my party arrived at 6:20 and they acknowledged us and said it would be a few minutes. Two families walked in AFTER Us With NO reservations and they were seated at the table we were promised. The host was making up stories why this happened. Needless to say I was VERY angry so while waiting, even more, (by this time it's now 6:45) I called Showa Hibachi and got a 7 pm reservation. I am now so happy this happened the food was way better than Mt Fuji. The service, the food, all the waiters and especially the chef were fantastic at a Showa Hibachi. I want to say Thank you to Mt Fuji, because of your incompetence I now found a better place and will never come back to you! And I will be sure to spread the word! New place just opened about a month ago. Decided to give it a try on a Friday night. Extremely crowded, thank god my boyfriend made reservations. Beautifully decorated and great atmosphere. Sushi was extremely fresh and food was very upscale, especially compared to other japanese restaurants in the area. will definitely be back and highly reccommend this place to sushi lovers. read more

Took my wife for her birthday read all reviews that all wete good. We wanted hibachi. So it was crowded. But had two chairs by the front door . It was cold ever time door opened . We ordered steak and shrimp. Paid good money. Thr other people were mother with 6 kids. The hibachi cook paid more attention to the kids than us. The portion that the kids recieved were huge. The two portion that recieved were like coming off children menu. The ownership.needs to be taught to manage there cooks. I will never go back tjere again. read more

Been here a handful of times since it has been opened. Looks like management has changed. We came on a Thursday night around 7 pm and the place was pretty empty. Had trouble getting the waiters attention the entire meal. Overall, food was mediocre at best, drinks were bland and not worth the steep price. Waitstaff was so rude and inattentive. Terrible service. Couldn't get anyone to take our order. When we got up to leave in frustration (and starvation), neither the waiter nor the host had a single thing to say when we told them we were leaving and why. This place was wonderful prior to their recent renovation. Such a thing would never have happened. But post renovation, we didn't recognize a single staff member in the restaurant. Went with 12 people over to Mt. Fuji Sushi and Hibachi in Wantagh the other night for Hibachi. The chefs and show were entertaining and silly which made for a good time. The food on the other had well it was mediocre at best. Not offensive just bland and overpriced. Not much else to say the place is clean and modern. Wouldn't run back to go. read more

Came in on the spur of the moment for take out. Had a drink at the bar while deciding on the menu order (which was interesting and extensive). Had a lovely frosty beverage, and was lucky enough to be served boy a lovely gentleman that was kind enough to support a local high school team while I was waiting when a young girl and her Dad came in to ask. Even if the food wasn't great I would have been happy to have spent time here. As luck would have it though, the sushi & sashimi that I ordered was excellent. Fresh, beautiful, perfect. I love sushi and have tried a bunch of places on LI. This place was good when we dined in, although definitely far from being the best or even great. Their sushi is OK, and not cheap. JR sushi is cheaper and better tasting. Tonight I called to have dinner delivered and I am so disgusted because whoever answered the phone (a woman) was so incredibly rude, her demeanor was a total turn off. Had lunch here recently and had a good experience. Nice atmosphere. Attentive staff that provided good service. I had the hibachi steak lunch. For about $12, you get a generous portion of steak (which was very tender), sautéed veggies and fried rice. The food was very fresh and delicious. I would recommend this place to a friend. read more

I have lived in Wantagh for 27 years....... What a pleasant surprise to find Mt Fugi, When I walked in the ambiance was quite pleasing, Very Hip!!! The owner greeted us and was very personable. We ordered" Sushi Pizza" I highly recommend It!!!!!!!!We also had chicken and spinach dumplings with a homemade sauce.....It was terrific, Very Fresh!!!!! Then we tried something different.....Sweet potato sushi.......Very unique. The next time we went I had the calamari salad ........I loved it !!!!!!!! We have tried many of the sushi rolls , and I find the Quality of the seafood to be exceptional!!!!!!...... We have been back four times in 10 days.....I have not tried the Hibachi yet.....But just seeing them Is Very Entertaining!!!!!! read more

Awesomely prepared hibachi...love that it's a little more low key than a chain, but still fun and entertaining. We love the shrimp, steak, and scallops, and the fried rice is sublime. Everything is perfectly seasoned by the hibachi chef. The kids absolutely love it, but it's fun for date night, too. read more

Food wasn't bad, but not up to standards of other hibachi restaurants. Soup was lacking normal meso flavor, and deserts were frost burn. The steak and lobster was good and flavorful. My main gripe is this. I was with a group of 8 people. From the time we sat, we felt rushed. They had a group of 20 ppl waiting for our table and actually told us that we had to leave. We sat at 7:50, ate, had desert and then were rushed out by 8:45. Not acceptable! The atmosphere is nice, but it seems they are only concerned for the bottom dollar and not the customers experience. I would not return. Our bill was around $400 which was on the high side, but being rushed was the deal breaker! read more

I've been going to mount fuji for months and when I go out with friends I always want to go here, but I went last weekend with my sister and when we paid we were going to leave the tip on the table but the waitress asked if there was a tip and when we said yes she asked for it and walked away and didn't give us our change from the check. so she got extra money from the tip even though her services weren't that great. Today I went for take out with my friend and we were sitting and talking trying to figure out what we wanted and after a few minutes, a man came over and told us to order so we did and i ordered my steak well done. when i got home, the steak was raw and was barely flavored, the soup didn't taste right, and there was practically only zucchini for the vegetable. read more

Great hibachi. I get the hibachi lunch special once a week. However in the past 2 months they have screwed up my order twice. On 12/14 I called in an order for my usual, I get there and they said they never received it and I had to wait 10 mins for it to be made (fine). I get home and it's shrimp instead of what I ordered (steak). I call and tell them they gave me the wrong order and this same exact thing happened a month prior. Although this time they tell me they can not deliver me my correct order as the delivery guy wasn't in for another 3 hours. I had to eat lunch so I went back to the restaurant to pick up my new order (they threw in a free side of lo mein.) I would've dealt with the wrongful shrimp however I am allergic. Food is good but I'd only continue to come back if I have the time. Worth a try but if you're getting take out, check your order before you leave. read more

Such a disappointment, the only good thing about dinner was our hibachi chef's service and show. My family and I went last night, there was 10 of us and we were home within an hour and a half. We felt rushed the entire time, We were rushed to order dinner after 5 minutes, I didn't want hibachi and the waitress was really confused that I ordered 3 appetizers for my dinner instead of hibachi, everyone else order hibachi so it wasn't like we hogged the hibachi table for no reason. My sushi and tempura arrived to the table before my party was even served their appetizers so I was completely done with my meal before anyone else was even served. The tempura was doughy and undercooked I asked the waitress for a menu because I didn't eat the tempura and was still hungry, she dropped the menu and never came back to ask if I wanted anything else at this point I was over it and decided to just wait until everyone was done with dinner so my husband and I could have some fried ice cream, I was telling him about it since we sat down, he was excited for it. But alas, the check was dropped before we were even offered dessert. Prior to that the waitress started clearing plates while most of the guests were still eating, and had brought new table set ups all set to go for the next party in line. Once dinner was over and the check was at the table the manager stood over us ready to jump in and clean the table waiting for us to leave. Horrible service, food was okay. Never again. read more
