Wandering around the UoM and ended up going here because of the menu have varieties different from other dessert or boba shops and the milk cap macchiato caught my eyes. However, I ordered the grapefruit green tea since it was on the special menu. It satisfied my thirst caused by this heat wave. The after taste suggested their use of actual green tea leaves. Legit boba and lovely creative combos. The taro bubble latte has a thick sweet taro paste at the bottom which has to be mixed into the drink and makes it very rich and tasty. I got the fruit tea and wheel cake. I LOVE both of them. The fruit tea was refreshing, there was actually slices of fruit in there. I didn't reduce the sugar level since it was my first time there, but it was not like overloaded sweet. The sweetness was kinda natural, doesn't taste like super sugary/syrupy. The wheel cake was the best part; I got the taro salted egg one. They were not pre made. The taro filling was kind of lava like when it was hot, where the salted egg yolk was little more dense. I ordered the original milk tea with pudding, 75% sugar and my fiancé ordered the almond milk tea with herbal jelly, 50% sugar. I will warn that they tasted sweet to me. My milk tea tasted a bit bland and sugary, reminded me of a watered down Lollicup (if you're from the west coast). I was asking the guy who worked there if drinks are sweet - he said he was told they're not as sweet as other places. If you've ordered KFT before, my 75% with pudding would range like 80-90% sugar there. My fiancé's almond milk tea was super sweet and tasted more like 100% sugar. I guess this is all based on preference. I usually get my drinks at regular sweetness unless I get toppings. Oh, then I also paid almost $13 for 2 drinks which is rip. I got the Taro Milk tea. I was blown away by the flavor of the milk tea. My friend recommended the taro milk tea. I really liked that it was deep flavor. It was the first time that I was blown away by a bubble tea. I would have to give this place five stars because of the flavor of the milk tea. I have yet to try the cakes. They look fantastic. From living in Korea, I grew up with pastries with red bean inside, and we Koreans LOVE having red bean in our desserts: fish shaped cake with red bean filling (taiyaki), red bean shaved ice, red bean between pancakes, red bean ice cream, chapssal donuts, etc. For the dinner at my friend's I was invited to, I bought three types of wheel cakes from Mu Mu: vanilla custard, red bean, and matcha red bean - vanilla just in case somebody doesn't like red bean. The cakes range from $3-$3.50. Little pricey tho. What I liked was how much filling they were putting inside the cake and how the employee was carefully making each cake. She made it as soon as I ordered, and I couldn't wait to bite into it. I ordered ten of them, and waited about 15-20 minutes. They were inside individual package, and a sticker on the package showed what type of wheel cake it was. While driving to dinner, I was keep staring into the freshly baked cakes, and was SO tempted to eat it. But because I was on my way to dinner, and I was super excited for what I was going to eat, I tried not to sneak my hand into the bag. Once I arrived, all the people there were super excited to see the wheel cakes! First, people at dinner were Koreans and second, the cakes reminded them of the street pastries we could find wherever on the streets in Korea. Even though we were preparing for dinner, all of us couldn't help but to take one cake and share it with all of us because we were too weak to wait for end of dinner for dessert time. The ingredients could've been slightly different from what we had, but it was as amazing as we hoped it to be. When we ate rest of the cakes when we finished our dinner, even though it was less fresh and cooled down, it was still delightful. It gave us 30 minutes of good conversation of how much we enjoyed that cake and our reminisce. I had to share the website and the location because they were so obsessed with it. I went in one night and ordered a salted caramel milk tea and they said they're out of black tea. I was okay with that especially because they said they can make any drink with green milk tea. So I asked if I could have the salted caramel tea made with green tea. They said sure and that they weren't sure how it would taste. It was actually really good. Fast forward a couple weeks later I call and ask if I could have the same drink and made with green tea instead. Automatic no. I told the guy over the phone that they made it for me before. Again, no. If a customer is willing to pay why refuse? Unbusinesslike. Is the owner never in the store? Secondly, I don't understand why a drink has to take 15+ mins to make. Please don't waste your time here, they aren't consistent and take waaaay too dang long to make drinks. Thirdly, they are out of something every other day, one day it's the boba, one day it's the black tea. Lastly, OVERPRICED!! I was sad to see Bambu go and be replaced but having tried Mu Mu Tea for a couple of times now, I'm not sad anymore I first tried the green milk tea with 50% sugar since I'm pretty used to getting reduced sugar on most milk teas and WHEWWW it needed to be 100% sugar lol Like other reviews said, the tea is the star of the show and it's a lot less sweet compared to Chatime and Kungfu Tea (). I also tried the golden oolong macchiato and it was very flavorful and if you love oolong it'll be perfect for you. I've then tried the brown sugar bubble latte (milk tea? I forgot the name dkdjdjd) which I think is supposed to be like The Alley's famed drink and it tastes pretty good! The bubbles were more flavorful this time and was kinda similar to Kungfu's cocoa cream wow but less chocolately in flavor. The green tea macchiato is alright because the tea was good but I'm not a big fan of the milk (or is it cheese ) cap, it's kinda thiq and cheesey. The mixed berry four seasons fruit tea is refreshing but not a banger. The four seasons macchiato is also kinda interesting?? lol lowkey tastes like apple pie or sumn. Oh yes and the wheel cake was something else. I was expecting it to be a dense kinda cake but the inside is all gooey and runny. I got the matcha one with mochi but I think the mochi melted lol Also it highkey tastes like crab (if u know u kno) lolll but once it cooled down it tasted like matcha. Great place to hangout and relax after class while doing homework. I usually get the Brown Sugar Milk Tea but I'm quite disappointed in the fact that it only comes in one size which I'm pretty sure is the small. The boba is good and chewy but not overcooked at all. The day before I had mediocre bubble tea, but this place definitely made up for what that was lacking! This is my next favorite place to get boba! I got the classic with normal sugar levels - even then, it wasn't too sweet but you definitely have the option to customize to how you'd like.
