My go to place for Thai food!! The spicy fried rice is so amazing. Always a good portion size and so much flavor!

We went to visit my brother in law and I uber eats pad Thai and Panang curry from this restaurant. I must say that this is for me the best Thai restaurant in the USA by far. We are from LA and tried multiple Thai restaurants from the Cheapest to the most expensive. Their pad thai is so sumptuous and spicy as I requested and you don't need to put any more sauce. If you don't get the Drunken Noodle with beef, extra basil and extra sauce heat level 3, so not too hot and or the Panang curry with shrimp extra bell pepper heat level 3 you are missing out. They have lots of good items, but these are where they really shine. Possibly the best Thai food in the USA. Accessibility: there is a disabled parking spot with a ramp in front of the building (see photos). The door to enter is a pull door. Inside there are lots of wheelchair accessible tables with moveable chairs. No seating outside. Experience: I came in as a walk in and realized later that's probably a mistake. It took at least 30 minutes for the food to be made (which I know is because they are super busy), but man I was hungry. The food was okay. It wasn't bad but it definitely wasn't the best Thai I've had. I think I would try another Thai place before coming back here. For two orders of Thai Fried Rice it cost 27 dollars. read more

I love this place. Our go to are drunken noodles, pad Thai, fried rice and the tom kha soup these are the best. They are very fast with service. We usually grab a Togo or sometimes dine in. I don't know if the chef has changed but sometimes the drunken noodles are not fully mixed with the sause properly so you will see white part of the noodles. Taste wise no complaints but yeah it would be good if they mixed the noodles well. read more

I've been here a couple of times, and I think this is the best Thai food I've had in San Diego. All the times I've came for dinner, it was super easy to get seated. I haven't really seen this place crowded, despite being a smaller space. They also take reservations if your group is 5+ people. The dishes are flavorful and seasoned perfectly. My favorite things to get here are the pad thai and drunken noodles. They have a spice level of 1-10, I usually eat my food at a mild spice level and 3 was good for me. What a hidden gem! First time here and it was DELICIOUS! Dined in on a Tuesday after work for dinner. We were the only ones dining in so we felt very comfortable. Even if there were more diners, all the tables are more than socially distant so it's a super safe dining environment + the entire staff were wearing masks. The whole staff were also very friendly and helpful with menu suggestions and explaining spice levels. Ordered the Kanom Jeeb to start with & LOOOOVED them! Will most certainly order them every single time we come back, maybe even a double order, they were THAT good!!! I also got the Tom Yum hotpot with level 3 spice (BEWARE! Their level 3 spice is a Medium!!!) The flavor was perfectly spicy and tangy and TASTY! I'm glad I got the hotpot size too instead of just a bowl because now I have some yummy leftovers for tomorrow! Their Thai Iced Tea with boba was on point! Perfectly sweet and boba so so good. *Also helped tone down the spiciness of our dishes! Very refreshing to the tastebuds. Also the cups they serve water in are AMAZING!!! I mean, just LOOK AT THEM I'm not a huge Pad Thai fan in general, but my boyfriend thought it was very flavorful although he opted for spice level 4 which ended up being too spicy for him. I was craving Thai food and heard about Muay Thai Kitchen. I was in the area and decided to stop in. It's located in a busy shopping center on Nordahl across the street from Walmart. Don't blink as you may miss it in the mix of various other restaurants and shops in the stop mall. I called in my order and it was ready upon arrival. I ordered the Tom Yum with tofu and Thai fried rice with shrimp. When asked about spice level, I wanted it mild, a little heat, but not overdone. Initially I asked for 5, but corrected to 3 when the person suggested otherwise. When I took the first sip of soup, I felt like there was enough chili in there to light a small forest fire. The heat penetrated my lips and slithered down my throat. I felt like my entire face was going to melt after a couple more bites. Took a few more sips and a bit of the tofu, and I could now feel every pore in my body begin to sweat, even on my pinky toe! While it was tasty, it was blazing hot. I thought I could handle spice, but this was a whole new level. I think I burned off a tastebud or two. When I stirred the broth, I now noticed a ton of chili flakes since much of the mushrooms and tofu were now flaring in my stomach. Seemed like more of a 7 or 8'level of spice to me, but I don't know how they measure it. I had asked that the rice be the same spice level. The first few seemed to be the same, FIRE in the hole! As I took a few more, it mellowed out. So thinking the original heat was from the remnants of the soup smoldering in my mouth. As I looked around the rice and shrimp and veggies, wanted to be sure there weren't the same amount of chili's in there. Didn't see many or as many as I saw in the soup. Hopefully, it was just an anomaly that my soup seemed that much spicier than the rice considering it was supposed to be the same level of spice. There was a curly hair baked into the wrapper of my spring rolls. I have straight hair. I only noticed this halfway through the meal. It looked like a human hair (frazzled by the deep fryer) or a long dog hair. I was too disgusted by this to even finish the rest of the meal. They threw most of my meal away. Their manager (a lady with a surly attitude) tugged at the hair (I suppose to see if I'd somehow brought it in with me). It was fried right into the crust. Manager: "This is just a hair from a hair from vegetables inside of it!" Me: "What vegetables would contain hair?" Manager: "The cabbage! The cabbage would have hair!" Me: "But human hair?" Manager: "Yes. Hair!" She then kindly removed the fried hair encrusted spring rolls from my bill but continued to charge me for the lunch they had thrown away. I was the only customer in this place at about 1:00 pm on a weekday----prime lunch hour. My Drunken Noodles main course was greasy, with bits dried out. The soup was a flavorful broth with nothing in it. Their side salad is covered by a dressing made apparently of lots of mayonnaise and something sweet. "Thai Thai" just 2 exits west of this place has far superior food, service, ambiance, management, parking and lunch specials. I will never go back to this dark little dump. read more

I keep finding more dishes I love at Muay Thai Kitchen and continue to be impressed with their quick and friendly service, thoughtful to-go packaging, clean and pleasant aesthetic, and overall wonderful experience every time I come here. I always get their panang curry with chicken, and when you order it spicy they deliver BIG TIME (make sure you have plenty of water nearby). My recent favorites are the pineapple fried rice with chicken, pad see ew with fried tofu, and tom kha soup with shrimp. 100% the best Thai restaurant in North County and likely the entire County. I come here at least 3 times a month and have been doing so for a year now. It is clean and has friendly service but I come for the food. I hate reviews that say everything is good as that is impossible and I am not looking for "good" I look for outstanding. I have been to Thailand so I can speak about authenticity. This is what I have and you would be crazy not to order these. Spicy Noodle with beef and extra thai basil. I get this as #2 spice level as this place is authentic and anything over a 5 would be too much for me or 98% of the public. This dish is NOT to be missed. Penang Curry with shrimp #2 spice level. If you filled a bath tub with this sauce I would get in and not leave until I had drank the entire tub. I also ask for extra bell pepper as there is not much in this dish in terms of vegetables, which would take away from the shrimp anyway. The shrimp are also quality and they are careful not to over cook them. This is a must as well. Today I ordered an extra dish to try something new. I got the Pak Raum MIT per the suggestion of O and yes that is her real name. I got it without any spice per O's suggestion as it makes a good balance against the other 2 spicier dishes above. Excellent flavor similar to the Spicy Noodle , but smooth and great fresh vegetables. I could really taste the individual vegetables. Highly recommended especially for a vegetarian and not spicy. Sorry I got this with pork as I am a meataterian. I always get the Thai ice tea here. I judge a Thai restaurant as to how their Thai ice tea is. Not too sweet and creamy is how they make it and it is perfect. So above is the good... I have not yet tried the Pad Thai, which many (wrongly in my opinion) judge a Thai restaurant. I am not a fan of Pad Thai as I firmly believe that it is the curry dishes that count most. I have had the Larb and the Pad Prik Khink and both were OK, but a little too heavy on the fish sauce for me and Ilove fish sauce, which tells me that perhaps the owners are from North East Thailand close to the Laotion border as the Lao people like their sour taste and this seems to me more alonga style from Laos. I am sure you could ask for both more as a Southern style. This is an easy destination as it is close to Costco and Walmart. Enjoy! read more

We ordered the Spicy Shrimp fried rice which was delicious. My hubby did not think it was spicy enough for him so if you really like it spicy let them your spice level requirement beforehand. I felt the portion was a bit on the small side which could be a good thing or bad thing. Good if you are trying to limit carbs and bad if you are super hungry. Thank you to one of the Yelp Reviews... Someone had Suggested the Drunken noodles with Basil + Beef...... I got that & it was AMAZING. Now, I'm craving it... I also ordered yellow curry. The consistency was a bit oily + a lil' watery (as I Remember it)... But, the Flavors were All there. I had some Left over for the Next day.... I ate it at Room Temperature and it was Still GOOD! Yummmm... what a fantastic experience!! From the moment the girls said hello and set down the wonderful silver cold water cups til the last drop of rice. This place is the real deal! The spice level is on par with true authentic spicy foods so beware of the number you order- 3-4 is kicking good. Beyond that I would not be able to enjoy. The place is not fancy but for me I want excellent authentic food, great service and cleanliness- they are not price gouging you either and I really appreciate that... inflation is hurting all of us and and I did not feel that they were taking it out on me. Still a solid 4-stars. Although the staff was extremely friendly and our server was sweet; they do need a little work on getting customers started with drink orders. It took 15-20 mins to get water. I noticed that there were other tables who were also still waiting for their drinks, and they had been seated before we even walked in. The food: We had the garlic wings to start. The garlic was definitely the main spice. It was great. I'm a big fan of fried garlic when it's done right. If overcooked garlic can have that bitter taste when it's fried, but this was not the case. The wings came out crispy, juicy and steaming hot out of the kitchen. I had the the eggplant with chicken, no spice. Hubby had just the fried rice with shrimp, which I tried (tasty, rice was a good texture, and shrimp was not overcooked). The chef did a great job with the ingredients. Kudos to the chef. read more

A great place for Thai food - a few misses but overall we're fans! We love the green curry with its thick rich coconut curry with great depth of flavor- it's one of our favorite curries in San Diego. The pad Thai is also generous and yummy, although we wish a bit more tamarind/acid but overall okay with extra squeezes of lime. We love the salty savoriness of the eggplant with beef - perfectly cooked eggplant and lots of meat. The chicken larb has some great umami from the toasted rice, and plenty of mouth puckering acid - a staple for us. Unfortunately, the larb and papaya salad suffered from more than half the container filled with plain shredded cabbage rather than the dish itself. We also ordered the tom kha hotpot size with tofu. The soup was nice and creamy but really disappointing - it only came with button mushrooms and cubes of tofu, no other vegetables. We will also skip the spring rolls next time - a bit bland for our liking. Dessert roti - sprinkled with sugar and a sweetened condensed milk sauce, nice end to the meal although we wished roti was flakier rather than hard. They also do weekday lunch specials which you can't find online but can call in an order - comes with a soup and small salad but is half size of the entree for $11-13 depending on the protein. read more

Downgrade - Muay Thai suffers their first defeat with a combination of sour service, a bad Pad Thai and a shady "Free drink" check-in offer. We stopped by and took advantage of their lunch specials. We ordered Pad Thai and basil chicken which included a bowl of soup. I also Yelp checked-in for their free drink order. The waitress made a big point to say that I had to buy one then I could get the other one free. Of course these updated rules are only visible after you check in. Yelp deal said 1 free, not bogo, so this was deceptive. Their Pad Thai sucked this time. I'm not sure but it tasted over cooked, over sauced, maybe because it was a lunch special they pre-made it and it had been sitting around? The basil chicken was still good, hot and fresh. Thought I would give them a try as Thai food is usually very good. This place is not unfortunately. I had the pad Thai lunch special as a delivery via Grubhub and I was disappointed by the small portions, lack of flavor and price that I paid. I requested baby corn be added to the pad Thai for $2 extra which was ignored (zero baby corn) and I also requested half veggies and half tofu, that was ignored as well and I just got tofu. The pad Thai has zero flavor. It's like they didn't even try. Side salads are always boring but this one was especially bad. The soup came with zero ingredients other than the broth. Just received my order.. They lost this customer. I know they have a new chef because my food is terrible. I rave about the shrimp fried rice and today it's tasteless waaaaaay to salty. I ordered Chinese broccoli and I was robbed. $12 for broccoli in brown salt water that's awful. I specifically said no ice on my Thai tea it's watery due the over abundance of water. I say NO ICE because by the time it arrives in Escondido from San Marcos the ice has melted. I spent $45 on terrible broccoli and less rice with watery tea!!! They lost this customer. I will never order from them again. Shame on you this was the worst than and Chinese Thai food I have ever ordered.
