The food was excellent! I had the blackened drum with dirty rice and it was cooked beautifully and seasoned. My favorite was the shrimp and grits! The down side was We waited and didn't get seated so we sat ourselves and about 10 minutes of waiting at our table we asked someone to wait on us. We were waited and served by Cheyenne who was bubbly, sweet and super personable. She was great with our kids and that makes a big difference . Not a fan of this place and I wanted to like it so so bad. I've been wanting to go since they opened & was just really disappointed. My daughter had the chicken strips and fries, the batter was falling off the chicken strips and the fries were so salty she was having to wipe them off with her napkin. I had the shrimp and grits and it was a very untraditional recipe, where the grits looked like they were cooked again in a pan. And three of my shrimp weren't cooked all the way :( It was like they were only cooked on one side bc the other side was grey and squishy. Also, our food took almost 45 mins to come out. Hopefully it was just an off night for them, but we won't be back. read more

The food was amazing. The boudin was perfect. The beer was cold. The service sucked. Our server left our glasses empty and she spent most of her time flirting with the manager and sitting on her butt. I got up and got cokes and sprite for the table from the bar. The manager yelled across the restaurant at me signifying that he would have our waitress help us. I waived him off and got my own drinks. I had enough. Went to Mudhugs to celebrate my birthday this past sunday. I was so excited to order a sea food boil of crawfish, shrimp, and snow crab.... food was great as expected because I had been there before. UNTIL half way through my food I noticed a 1.5 inch bug!! Swimming in the juice of my food touching everything around it. Called the waiter over and he immediately took the plate back [luckily I took a picture before!!].. he came back and just said Yup it's a crawfish bug ... I'm not new to crawfish, I have NEVER in my life seen this type of bug with any crawfish I've had before... we barely got an apology & we didnt get the meal replaced or comped. Even if it was a crawfish bug, they should be cleaning/rinsing all their crawfish... this bug was FULLY intact.. and after doing my own research it was determined that the bug was the larvae form of a dragon fly!! Soo the "crawfish" bug they said was not what they said. I was disgusted and disappointed... I didnt want to write this review but after thinking it over.. Service was terrible and I'm easy to please at restaurants. Our waitress never asked us for refills and when my friend did ask, mid asking our waitress grabbed the cup and left. Small sports bar atmosphere. Everything is a la carte which makes your total bill a bit pricey. Ordered the Street Corn appetizer and it wasn't a full ear of corn but one ear cut in three pieces, disappointing in the amount but the seasoning was good. Ordered the shrimp and grits and although the flavor was good a bit too greasy, with a ring of grease around the outside of the grits. I always like giving restaurants a second try so I'll return but next time order a po boy which comes with fries. Not impressed! Our daughter wanted to go because she wanted a boil. So we went. First, my husband got the pork chops, which comes with a side is rice and corn on the cob. He added a salad. The rice was burned on the bottom, like it has been scrapped off the bottom of the heating pan, we asked for more and that took forever to get. The corn cobs were tiny. One bite and it was gone. His salad came a long time after his pork chops arrived. He asked for more of the sauce that was on the pork chops and that took 5 minutes to get. If you asked the waitress for something it took at least 5 minutes each time. It is a small restaurants and she only had 4 tables. The other servers were always visible. We had to get another waitress to take our card so we could pay My daughters snow crab boil came on a plate, not a tray as advertised. The sausage was so hot she couldn't eat. I got the shrimp and grits, the first part was ok, then about half way into the grits, it seemed like this half had been scrapped off the bottom of pan. So I stopped eating and it got extremely spicy. One couple came in . and left. There was also a table behind us with a baby screaming and the parents nor the restaurant did anything. You could tell all the tables around were annoyed. I know babies scream, when ours did, one of us would walk outside with them. It was overall not an enjoyable experience It is over priced and not that good. Service is less than par. We will not be back. read more

Our first thought driving up to the restaurant was whether it was open. Not enough lighting outside and the dark windows didn't help. This was our first visit and we were eager to try it out. Being a Thursday it wasn't very crowded and we were greeted promptly. Our waitress took our drink orders and to say they were small is an understatement. I tried their "signature" Hurricane and it was way too sweet. My husband and enjoyed his Bloody Mary. We ordered the gator appetizer and they had a really good taste. I also had the gumbo. It was very good, had a nice brown roux(almost like my mother's). My husband had shrimp and grits and liked those too. The shrimp are a very nice size. It's definitely pricy. After our tip it was $70 just for the two of us. That may keep us from returning. read more

Stumbled upon this restaurant when we were looking for somewhere to eat before going to "The Great Escape of Corpus Christi". The staff was friendly, atmosphere was great and the food was delicious. I've been to mudbugs and always return. The food is awesome, and we've never had a bad server. It does get quite packed, since it's a small restaurant, but it's well worth the wait. The prices are normal for seafood which isn't cheap, and you get quite a bit. The crawfish are great, as well as the shrimp boil! read more

So I normally will give a star for: Menu items, service, taste, price , and atmosphere. I'm giving three stars. The atmosphere needs work either too bright in some areas or too dark. The service was fast and good at first then when time to order wayyyy to long. The food was ok but no clue how shrimp and grits, Cajun pasta, kids chicken tenders and kids fried shrimp and a couple beers came to almost $100. The grits were way to over spiced. I'm a shrimp and grits lover. The Cajun pasta was good but not great. The kids meal were average at best All in all not worth the price!! We will not be going back. read more

Excellent food and outstanding service! We went for the first time just a couple weeks ago with some friends down from Austin. I'm a crawfish lover and was disappointed they didn't have any in restaurant yet, but also respect that they're not serving frozen crawfish; props there. I am from the Carolinas originally and love Shrimp and Grits, so that's what I ordered; they nailed it. The food had great flavor, perfect amount of spice, and it was quick. The only reason I'll hold one star off of a 5 star review was that it was a little pricey. I'd still recommend it in a heartbeat and my family and I will be back. read more

We were a group that ordered through DoorDash. First we didn't get our entire order and had to call the restaurant. They sent another dasher out with the rest of our food. Cajun pasta states chicken with shrimp or sausage. I got with shrimp, but there was not one piece of chicken! And the shrimp was not blackened as the menu stated. The sauce was good, a little spicy. Catfish PoBoy was good, but did not come with any tartar sauce or remoulade. Just some ketchup with a little hot sauce for the fries. The Shrimp and Grits were also a disappointment. Menu mentioned cheeses, but we tasted none. Not true cajun BBQ shrimp...just shrimp with some BBQ sauce on it. No bacon or green onions either. Seafood gumbo was also disappointing, the shrimp in it looked like tiny brine shrimp and if there was any other seafood in it, we couldn't find it. It did not taste very good either, very bland. Reading the menu sounded good, but not what we got.Probably wont be getting food from there anytime soon. read more

A nice Cajun restaurant in a growing area of Corpus. Industrial interior is gives it an inner city feel. Large enough to accommodate a Saturday night crowd without too much wait. The seafood gumbo is fantastic! Packed full of seafood and okra but not overwhelming taste of file' based roux. Shrimp & grits need some tweaking on the grits. I had the cajun pasta delicious but its too pricy and SMALL portions. Everything is too expensive for what you get. It was suppose to have chicken it had 1 small piece thinner than the actual pasta.
