Even pizza gets boring sometimes. My wife and I decided to try a new place for Friday night pizza. Instead of the five minute drive to our usual place, going to mulberry took ten. So delicious. We went for the Chicago pan pizza plus half pepperoni. We like our local place but the pie from Mulberry was just so full of flavor. The dough, the sauce, the cheese, it was just outright good. Vinnies Mulberry Street, Bayshore. This is gross - warning. Went in to pick up our weekly order last Friday. As soon as I walked in, a young girl behind the counter was rubbing and scratching her bare stomach with her hands, coughing into her shirt and then touching everything. She then licks her finger while talking to another employee and then...begins to CUT MY PIZZA with her hands touching the box and my pizza. I asked to speak to a manager, but a different young girl attended to my issue. I said - 'I am not taking that pizza', and explained why. She goes and tells an older bald male manager - who instructs her to tell me that they will remake my pizza. He does not come over, does not aologize, and does not address the insane hygine issue I just saw. She is not asked to go wash her hands, or even spoken to. She literally just keeps it moving.... Then, coughing girl in question looks at me, says 'sorry' and then begins to cough into her shirt, while looking dead at me - lifting it so high that I see the tops of her bra! After coughing and exposing herself, she proceeds to dump a filthy looking plastic tub of ice into the soda machine, using her hands to assist. Then....she continues coughing, and goes to refill the all the napkins and spices - putting her hands on TOP of every spice jar while filling it and putting them on the tables/counter. At this point, I dont want my food, I want my money back but am so grossed out I want OUT of there. When my fresh pizza comes, the cook is mean mugging me and the 'non-coughing non-manager' girl says - we gave you some zepps. Uhhh....thanks? Three days later I began to come down with norovirus. Not saying its connected but I have never been so grossed out by a pizzeria experience in my LIFE. We were weekly patrons but the fact that no manager addressed me, no one made her wash her hands and that they just kept it moving makes me think they need a food inspection visit ASAP. read more

My wife and I have been loyal customers of Vinnie's Mullberry Street in Bay Shore for easily more than 7 years. We have recommended family & friends. This is basically a pizza place with a restaurant seating area on the side. The food has always been very good. The lunch menus were very reasonably priced. We remained loyal through COVID - and ordered take-out from there........although this location was 25 minutes from our home (no shortage of similar restaurants in our area) . The regular waitresses knew us and knew our usual food orders. The kitschy Italian music playing in the background was a nice touch. We would frequent this establishment at least once every 2 weeks - with an approximate payment of $38.00 per visit - for 2 lunch meals. On top of that - we would always leave a generous tip - and an especially generous tip for Christmas. Our yearly spend there was easily over $1,000 per year. On February 24 - my wife and I felt like taking a trip to Vinnies Mulberry Street. It was always our "Go To" place for a nice lunch and a nice time. On that day - we were told by Mike (the owner) that the restaurant area was closed - no waitress was available. We were told that we could order "'take-out" and sit in the pizza dining area........tables and chairs close to the front door entrance ........with the full force of cold weather and winds whenever someone entered. So.....OK.....we decided we'd do that. We placed our orders. My wife usually orders either Ravioli or Eggplant Parmesan. Ravioli is priced on lunch menu at $11.95 (with a side salad). My wife requested Angel Hair pasta instead of Ravioli. Mike angrily tells us that this is not available on the "lunch menu." Now, we've ordered many times FOR YEARS with minor substitutions from the printed "lunch menu." I check the receipt....and I see that he charged me a total of $16.00 for the Angel Hair & the salad - a difference of $4.05 from the lunch special price. I bring this to his attention. He tells me "that is not on the lunch special." Now, it doesn't take a genius to determine that the cost of ingredients for ravioli (with cheese) is higher than the cost of angel hair pasta (with only marinara). So, instead of making an "exception" for REGULAR CUSTOMERS - he persists in being arrogant & abusive. Mike then went on to proudly tell us that he fired our regular waitress. The lack of foresight here was UNBELIEVABLE! He lost REGULAR CUSTOMERS over a $4.05 difference in price. When I confronted him with this lack of logic - he actually asked me if I'd like to take over his Pizzeria. We ended up walking out, picked up our own ingredients, and prepared our meal at home. I realize employee salaries, rent, cost of ingredients, etc. I'm in the "food business" - so I'm not oblivious. It's a shame, though, that due to the pennywise/pound foolish attitude of Mike - that he has lost regular customers. We will never return to this establishment. A sad state of affairs - considering that many folks are being cautious about the cost of going out to eat.....not to mention the difficulty in hiring a good staff. read more

Review based on their pizza, but haven't ever sat in to eat here. It does have seating if you'd like, suitable for large groups as well. Favorite pizza spot out on Long Island. My usual go to is a pepperoni pie w/ extra pepperoni and the occasional calamari. Always consistent in deliciousness whenever I've ordered. This place has been a staple for my family for quite sometime...my nanny loved to order and get delivery or pick up very regularly and the food was always delicious...didn't matter what was ordered, everything was very tasty! I hadn't ordered in a few months and decided I wanted a shrimp fra diavolo parmigiana...called and ordered for pick up...the girl was very new, and unfortunately messed up the order which I didn't realize right away because my friend went to pick it up. We called because the order was wrong on a couple of different items and the owner/manager gave us both credits towards our next order. So tonight, 2 days after thanksgiving, instead of leftovers, my family decided to order from Mulberry Street. We got a lovely assortment...baked clams app which was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! Omg...chopped and perfectly portioned in the mix were beautiful hints of clam! Then onto seafood bisque which was creamy, flavorful, and hot! We also ordered the baked pasta combo w ravioli, manicotti, and stuffed shells in a delicious tomato sauce and topped with gorgeous mozzarella! The ricotta filling was on the same level of taste. Instead of the traditional chicken dish, we opted for the chicken cordon bleu...wow! Yummy creamy sauce layered over crispy chicken cutlets topped w mushrooms, ham, and mozzarella over linguine (our choice)...this was a very flavorful dish! We then ordered 3 slices...regular, white, and spinach...the slices were your typical good quality Italian pizzeria/restaurant slices...my only small gripe as I was the one who ordered the spinach, was that it was a bit too oily...but that's it! I decided to finally give them a try after being told several times that their shrimp scampi was one of the best. I'm sure glad I did because it was delicious! The shrimp were plump and seasoned perfectly with a nice blend of lemon, garlic, oil and breadcrumb served over a nice bed of angel hair pasta. This mulberry street location is absolutely awful - staff is super rude every single time (despite me tipping anyway) and gives attitude to you no matter what you order. Their food is incredible but the staff leaves an awful taste in my mouth. The girls at the counter are usually super rude but theres a few redeeming people there. In addition to everyone being rude no matter what to you, the staff is NEVER wearing their masks and constantly wears them on their chins. It's just disgusting and today I watched them give a tired overworked nurse who just got off her shift some serious attitude. Ugh. Not bad chain restaurant serving pizza and Italian dishes. Went to the rather small Bay Shore location and we were fortunate enough to be seated promptly. The focaccia bread given to us after we ordered was nice. Started with a salad with the creamy garlic dressing which was too thick and pasty to spread evenly. Chicken marsala was a bit thin and buttery but the pasta on the side was good with a flavorful marinara sauce. Tried the orecchiette di Bari and it was pretty tasty and a large portion. I used to love the buffalo chicken slice, but something about those ovens, they need to be cleaned multiple times a day. I had stopped going here but I moved back into town and tried them for delivery and I couldn't believe it, I got reheated old and BURNT pizzas that were so hot the cheese was sliding off.
