When I asked for ballpark, they said sounds like your 15 your-old system is too old to fix (coolant is no longer being used, so hard to re-charge system, etc. etc.), so could be $12-15k to replace. That's when I cold-called Action Air, just based on favorable Yelp rating and long time (9+) years in business. The woman I spoke to said they'd be there LATER THAT SAME DAY (Fri) and would keep me posted when he was in the nabe. I got a text at 4 pm saying tech on his way. David showed up within minutes. He was courteous, knowledgeable, efficient ... and honest. Made a quick circuit of our equipment (compressor, air handler, thermostat), and promptly determined it was just a thermostat issue. He went out to his truck and replaced the thermostat, explaining how it worked and giving us the user's manual from the box it came in. While there, he checked our air filters and the compressor, took a couple readings at the compressor and told us everything looked great, and that we should just hose out the grill around the outdoor compressor fan, noting that it was located close to a dryer vent so needed extra attention. Bottom line: This is just what. you want and need in a repair company, particularly when you're talking about equipment you may know very little about so could be at the mercy of dishonest vendors. Can't recommend Action (and David) highly enough. Saved me possibly thousands of $$$.

He told me that the A/C unit I have does not require a multi stage thermostat & as such, I can return it to Walmart saving me $270. He also explained that the unit though not top of the line, was a good reliable unit that only requires the thermostat I already have. And when you subtract out the unlicensed, uninsured people from your list your choices are minimal. I wanted to replace our thermostat after a slight remodel. The old one was dingy and couldn't be salvaged. While we were at it we decided to add WiFi connectivity beacuse, well we don't really have a true need for that but since a thermostat was only a few dollars more i figured, why not. After examining the current thermostat and the wiring at the HVAC unit i was convinced the the job was beyond my skill level. Having seen Soundview shop every day on the way to the gym an knowing a couple of them work out in the same gym, I thought I'd give the local team a shot. They said they would send someone by to look at the job to give an estimate. The estimator cam by and looked and tinkered with the system for about 45 minutes. in the end he said my control panel wasn't compatible with new generation thermostats. This wasn't hard to believe, we know that the builder relied on a lot of "closeout specials" when building the house 20 years ago. He also mentioned that we may need a new damper. He stated he didn't have the control panel on the truck but he would go back to the office and have them contact me with a quote for the work. He gave me a ballpark but said they office would need to validate once the sourced the exact parts. I agreed and indicated I would wat for the quote even asking how long the job would take. I paid the service call fee on the spot and thanked the technician. Well it's been over a month and I'm still waiting for a callback with a quote (not really anymore). maybe I have a unique facial tick that coincidently tells people to "ignore this man. Rob is suing me for his padded bill amount (not for the discounted amount, like he claims). Plus, he still has not answered all of my billing complaints. On day one, after receiving his shocking bill, he offered a discount without correcting the bill. Yes, I was grateful until I received the same, uncorrected bill!! As Rob proved, he did not correct it so that he could sue me for the fake amount also. I waited patiently for a corrected bill that never came. I actually thought that he was skulking away because he was caught in a lie. When Matt started harassing me, I directed him to correct the bill. That's all I want. I told him to handle it. Matt literally laughed at me and said "Okaaaaaay". That must be the moment they hired Rob's "partner", his collection agency to bully and to threaten to ruin my credit because I'm standing up for myself. Rob says I'm hostile so I looked up the word hostile in the dictionary. It means "Being in opposition." So yes, I am opposed or hostile to being forced to line Rob's pockets. I am hostile to Rob using my home as a platform to rob me. I am opposed to or hostile towards Rob who is standing behind his plumber named Keddy who blatantly lied about time in my home. I am hostile towards not having a corrected bill. I am hostile or opposed to Rob and Matt billing my elderly parents who did not hire them. I have absolutely no reason to lie about this. I don't know these people other than that they violated me. It's not alot of money. It's the principle. I'm pretty worn out by this company's disrespect and their commitment to fraud.
