If you're within 100 miles of Mullets, drop what you're doing and get there. This place is an absolute vibe--equal parts hilarious, delicious, and completely unforgettable. Right as you walk in, you're greeted by a wall of epic mullet photos. We're talking glorious, vintage, feathered masterpieces--like a shrine to the greatest hairstyle in history. It's weird, it's wonderful, and it sets the tone for the rest of your experience. Now let's talk food. I had the avocado toast flight, and let me just say--it's not your average avo toast. Fresh, flavorful, creative toppings--each one better than the last. My friend got the chicken and waffles, and it was everything you want: crispy, fluffy, sweet, savory, and totally addictive. Top it all off with riverfront views, a breezy patio, cold drinks, and some of the friendliest service around, and you've got a place that's just begging to become your new favorite brunch spot. Mullets is fun, quirky, and seriously tasty. Come for the laughs, stay for the food, and leave already planning your return trip.

Good breakfast food, convenient location right off the bike trail, stunning views of downtown. The food portions are overly huge and very tasty. A good value to split. The building could use a ton of updating.

Overall a great breakfast spot. Simple and delicious. The chicken and waffles was yummy as well as the Bloody Mary flight. Watch out though, that jalapeño Bloody Mary is def spicy. Staff was kind and prompt on all accounts and I appreciated her honesty on menu items and recommendations. There is currently city construction going on outside on the street, but still a total gem.

I had fantastic time. Our waitress was attentive and the vibe was lively. We were seated by the bar, so bicyclists were in and out grabbing a bite to eat or something to drink. We had the breakfast sliders and Catfish dinner with pasta salad and Mac and cheese. The breakfast sliders were tasty. I only liked the pasta salad from the catfish meal. I also got the margarita flight and dessert flight. Both are delicious!

The breakfast burrito is sooooo good. I think they could be way more generous with their salsa so I can't give it a five star review.

This was probably the best place we ate in Des Moines. Service was great. The view was killer. All 10 of us had excellent food.

Friday Night At the Angry Gold Fish…read more This is usually a solid place to get a burger, but came up short. We arrived around 7:30 and it was busy. I asked for the corner table which was large and there were two of us. I chose it because it was quiet and it was so loud. The waitress seamed super annoyed. I am deaf in one ear and this was the best place so I could hear and actually enjoy the place. I didn't feel her attitude was justified. If she would have kept pushing the point it was going to get pushed to the manager as I have several disabilities and I don't use them, but I do choose certain places to sit to help manage them. My expectation is for the waitress to be kind and shouldn't matter if it's two people, four people, or six people. Should be glad to have a customer and business. My wife and I got a Knob Creek on the rocks to start off. We also each got the old fashion, one with tots and one with fries. The burgers have really good flavor, but wasn't even hot. The bun was super dry and I wound up leaving the bun and eating the burger. The tots were really good, but also not hot. My wife's was the same. The French fries were good, but not hot. I didn't say anything to the waitress because based on her attitude it was just going to make the night worse and I was out to have a nice evening. I have been here several times and this is my first bad experience here and I hope it's not a sign that the restaurant is going downhill. This is one of my go to spots in Des Moines to get a great burger and it should be fire on a Friday night. Fresh and delicious, not cold and dry, is the new requirement, an angry waitress to complete the Angry Goldfish vibe?

I found myself a spot across from a tv so that I could watch some Olympic hockey. Very attentive but not intrusive staff. When I finished one drink or my food, my glass/plate were swiftly whisked away. The tiny Guinness shot was adorable, and honestly worth the money for the selfie opportunity alone. I also had their lamb burger with fries, which was quite good as well. They had plenty of pub favorites on the menu, but if I stopped by again, I would probably still get the lamb. It's such an underrated option.

The center was very oily and the breading fell off. I feel is they did smaller pieces it would be better. I like crispy, flaky, with minimal grease. I want the breading to stay with the fish and this just didn't check those boxes. It just wasn't the best I have had, good, but not great. Comparing to The Bank in Ireland it just didn't hit. For an English Place I really wish they also had traditional mushy peas which are fantastic. The French Fries were just Ok. The place wasn't very busy and the service was good. Would try other food if in the area.

The street-level negative when we got there and again when we were leaving was the significant construction on Ingersoll...leaving entry a little tricky and exit a bit dangerous due to low visibility caused by equipment. Once we got inside, Margot was quick to come to our table, took good care of us throughout the evening and made some great suggestions for our meals. I had read about the Crab Rangoon Nachos and since Margot also recommended them, we started with an order (see picture) along with a Backpocket Lemon Shandy (see picture). WOW - these were every bit as good as the positive reviews and while the other food was also good, the nachos were the highlight of our meal! For our meals, my wife ordered the 10 Wing Double Snack split between Honey Garlic & 10 Spice (dry) - both on Margot's recommendation (see picture). I opted for the Sourdough Smash on Margot's recommendation (see picture) with krinkle fries. As we usually do, we shared tastes of each others dishes and really enjoyed everything. While I'm not a huge garlic fan, I did really like the Honey Garlic wings and found myself dipping the smash burger in the extra sauce. Numerous Cityview awards were on display on their trophy shelf (see picture). I believe one of these awards is what caused me to add The Station on Ingersoll to my Want to Go list but regardless of the source, I was not disappointed. I'd missed my connection and got bumped by a last minute female runner even though I was first on the standby list. I stepped off the hotel shuttle, checked into my room, dropped off my baggage and walked here for dinner. Needless to say, I walked in the door quite hungry. I sat at the bar for the quickest service. I ordered a local lager, Des Moines Exile's Maria lager ($6.75/5% ABV). To eat, I seldom go wrong with fried catfish. This time I got the fried catfish strips, with tartar sauce, 2 large hush puppies, and a bunch of fries ($16.99). The smooth lager hit the spot and the fried dinner really filled me up. Catfish average, hush puppies had great texture and taste, and fries were hot. The bartender/waitress really wasn't too attentive. Spent most of the time talking to other customers and staff. I ordered another lager from Exile. This one was an award winning Ruthie Gold lager ($7/4.9% ABV). I preferred this lager to the first one. It had a more rounded taste and mouthfeel. The huge meal didn't wow me, but it did feel me up. Thumbs up to the two local lagers I tried. They were good. Come here if you need a large meal and mediocre service.
