Came for buffet it was about $20...lots of food options and dessert. Drink options as well like mango lassi, badam milk and chai tea.

Only reviewing selected items based on today's catering. -Konaseema Chicken Fry: very confusing looking dish as I stared at a glop of darkness in the tray. Just couldn't tell what is in there, neither could I know if I was picking up the chicken or the seasoning spices. And why is most of the Indian meat dishes always have bones (except butter chicken or the Tikka Masala)?? Positive note is the dish smelled aromatic and tasted strong but good seasoning yet a bit too much heat for me. -Chicken Tikka Masala: I almost thought we got soup! A flap tray of sauce and I had to fish around scraping to the bottom to find a few pieces of meat! Otherwise, it tasted just like any other tikka masala. -Naan bread is a bit dry and thin, not too fluffy or soft. I had better ones. So I'm still not impressed with Indian food.

I went for a weekday buffet to this place. They have a rich mango lassi and chai. Along with a great selection of veg and non veg dishes plus chutneys. I enjoyed the South Indian egg curry and pongal a lot. They bring fresh naan's to your table. If you like paan, this one is very good. The ambiance is not much to speak off - the people serving us were nice - we went during lunch hour - so had to flag their attention to get the naan's on the table.

Service Prompt service, mostly polite wait staff. Adorable and polite cashier Price I'm not sure if it was on the high side for the location. It was $26.70 for an appetizer, a main and a beverage. Still, fair price for the food. Ambience It was not fully packed, but it was lively. There was no wait time and there was ample room for seating m, especially for this solo diner Food quality It was great! The front desk person at the nearby hotel referred me to this place and gave me an order suggestion. They were not wrong! It was a delicious and enjoyable experience. Hygiene Clean! The table, the floor, the seats and the serving utensils and plates. Not sure what the back of the house looked like, but the front was in a highly presentable condition. This was a 4.5 out of 5! Would highly recommend

I stopped by for the lunch buffet on a Sunday. The best thing about the buffet was, both mango lassi and masala tea were provided. Chicken biryani in the buffet was good. Goat pulao and fish curry was ok. Hariyali chicken and cauliflower munchurian were good.

This restaurant, which has vegetarian and non vegetarian items, is in a quaint looking building on El Camino Real. The inside is spacious and it has a banquet room. There is a nice array of food with samosa curry, butter chicken, spinach, fresh fruit, dum biryani, raita, and much more. There are several chutneys; the peanut is quite spicy. There was a large assortment of sweets including halva and custard. The buffet comes with mango lassi and unsweetened tea. Naan bread is very good. The plates are cleared pretty promptly.

I came to UlavacharU for their weekend lunch buffet -- and left already planning my next visit. The variety was impressive, but it was the authenticity and bold flavors that really stood out. From biryanis to curries to fresh dosas, everything tasted like it was made with heart and tradition. As someone who isn't Indian, I wasn't sure what to expect walking in -- but the staff couldn't have been more welcoming. They were kind, helpful, and genuinely enthusiastic about sharing the dishes and answering questions. I felt completely comfortable and appreciated. The Babycorn Manchuria was crispy and addictive, the Okra Pulusu was tangy and comforting, and the Tandoori Chicken was perfectly charred and juicy. I also loved the desserts -- especially the Pineapple Kesari and the Boondi Laddu, both of which were the perfect sweet finish. UlavacharU offers a true taste of South India, and the buffet is a fantastic way to explore it all. Authentic, delicious, and full of heart -- can't recommend it enough.

Language could be a barrier. We had a hard to order something not in their menu and trying to ask if they served the battered cauliflower. After much confusion, the answer was no. fried fish with curry battered - not in menu, this is really delicious but watchout for the fish bone. mutton curry and okra curry were both okay, both served with white rice. We like their mango lassi.

My husband and I LOVE this place! It's always poppin' when we stop by (especially when it's the buffet or unlimited thali). Many of the dishes are gluten-free, so there are plenty of options if you're celiac or gluten intolerant. The prices are really affordable for the amount of food you get, and the Indian food is some of the best you'll eat in the Bay. Don't sleep on this place.

*Vegetarian Foodie Review* Ulavacharu is our go to for South Indian (Telugu style) buffet. Best South Indian restaurant in Bay Area, hands down!! It's a huge restaurant with ample amount of seating. We went on a weekday for lunch buffet. Best things abt this place: 1. Variety of dishes for both veg and non-veg for buffet, especially veg varieties (appetizers + entrees + desserts) it's unbelievable. They also have a drink (mango lassi etc) and chai. 2. Their food is not too oily or too spicy like most of the South Indian restaurants close by. 3. The quality and taste has been consistent throughout, have been coming here for over 4+ yrs and it only keeps getting better. 4. I have never felt discomfort after eating here, which happens with most buffet places. However, in this visit, the 2 paneer dishes I had, felt that the paneer was stale or old. You just know when paneer is not fresh. This is my only complaint. Highlights for my fav items from the buffet during this visit: - Samosa Chaat: I usually avoid North Indian dishes at this place but this one amazed me, tasted as authentic as it can get - Mysore Bonda: the best, no doubt! - Lemon Rice: tasted homemade and very similar to the ones you get in temples in India - Spinach Pachadi, Tomato Pickle, Peanut Chutney: you won't find the authentic taste in other restaurants - Hakka Noodles: Yum and not super oily, just enough oil Everything offered is at the buffet table, however, naan is served fresh as requested at your table. Btw, they also have savory snacks and sweets prepared in-house for purchase. We purchased Chagodi for my 4 year old as it's her fav savory Indian snack (mild). It was around $20 per person for buffet, which is fair given the variety of dishes offered and amazing service provided.

Food (9/10): So I would say for the average American, this place is way too spicy. We brought a coworker here and he couldn't eat most of it because it was too spicy. However, I love this place; it's just as good as Ulavacharu Tiffins. The Thali was a lot of food, but they kept asking if we want more and more good. LOVE THIS Not a super fancy place, but it's really good food.

Weirdly scruffy space but I don't mind. My veg thali was insane and they came by to offer free mini dosas and other treats. The TV happened to be playing Tips' YouTube channel with top hits of the '90s (the best era for Hindi music). An altogether lovely time.

When we arrived, the place was empty, but it began to fill up after we were seated. A kind young man showed us to a table and brought us menus and some water. It's beautiful inside. It's a long and narrow space and they have plenty of seating options for small and large groups. The chairs are covered in soft colorful velvet. They were very comfortable to sit in. There is a beautiful painting of a young woman wearing traditional clothing. There is a full bar with seating at the counter. The chandeliers are gorgeous and I loved the colorful umbrellas hanging upside down from the ceiling. Our waiter, Shreeshant, was beyond friendly. He was so kind and attentive to our needs. He gave us some recommendations for appetizers, which I really appreciated. We ordered the Chicken Tandoori Momo's (6 per order), per his recommendation. We also ordered the veggie samosas (2 per order). For our mains we ordered the Dum Biryani with shrimp, chicken korma, eggplant curry and butter naan. I really loved that you can customize your heat level with all the main dishes. We ordered all our dishes mild spice. First to come out was the Chicken Tandoori Momos and the veggie samosa. The momos came out sizzling on a cast iron skillet with onions and peppers underneath them. These came with a mild sauce to accompany them. The samosas came with three different sauces. The sauces were tamarind, mint and a spicy sauce. My favorite was the chicken momos. They were so flavorful from the inside to the outside. They have a tandoori flavor on the exterior and the sauce that it came with paired well with it. The samosas were also very good. I liked the mint sauce best, with the samosas. My husband liked the spicy sauce. I would definitely order both of these again. Next our main dishes came out. They also gave us some plain basmati rice with our food. The dum biryani with shrimp was so good. It's a very large portion. The shrimp were delicious. The chicken korma was creamy and rich from the pureed cashews. It went great with the naan. The eggplant curry was the most mild out of all the dishes. There were three cooked baby eggplants in a coconut curry sauce. I would say the sauce had more of a coconut flavor that stood out. It was good. The naan went well with everything really. We couldn't finish all that we ordered. We were given takeout boxes for our leftovers. We will be eating very good again with these leftovers. I really love their menu here. It's extensive with many different offerings. A big thank you to the staff for their excellent hospitality. We look forward to returning for more meals.
