Their lunch specials are offered daily and the $13 3-rolls special includes both miso soup and salad. I appreciate that the options aren't a short and skimpy menu but includes all their non-fancy rolls. I've dined in a couple times pre-covid19 and you can tell they are loved by many regulars. More like a 3.5, but compared to the other 4 star Japanese restaurants nearby I have to round down. The objective was to try a new restaurant to Yelp about with new friends. Fiona, Samantha, Canny, and 4 other friends in attendance so we ordered a good sample of small dishes and Chef's rolls. Service was a bit slow at first, but fairly accomodating we we had questions about the menu. Two items initially ordered wasn't even on the menu which was a slight bummer. The Miso Cod Fish, the "Popcorn" shrimp and the Crazy love roll were probably the best dishes I had. Their signature Maru roll was a bit dissappointing as I didn't taste the lobster nor the smoked mozzeralla. I'm afraid the combination does not work. One of the vegetarian rolls was very interesting as it had a kick of plum juice as you bit into it - but I wouldn't have been able to eat 6 bites of it. read more

This review is for their excellent customer service. I ordered lunch for the first time with Mura through seamless during work. I waited for it for a really long time and it looked like it was delivered according to seamless deliver tracking but when I walked down to the reception at my work, they said it never arrived. I proceeded to call the restaurant. They called the delivery driver who confirmed it was delivered but because I never received it, they immediately offered to remake my lunch and deliver it ASAP. It arrived 15-20mins later. At the end of the day, I found out that someone at my work reception had made a mistake and gave my lunch to the wrong person. So it was never the restaurant's fault. Shit happens. However through this experience, I was able to experience the great service that the restaurant provided and will certainly continue being a customer. read more

Absolutely terrible. This is the last straw with sushi that isn't from a known, excellent place (such as Ki, or Geido, or 1 of 8). You just can't stint on this. We ended up chucking 2/3 of our maki (several fancy, several plain) into the trash, as it was both flavorless and weirdly textured. It was one of those hot and humid summer nights, so when the waiter tried to sit us (me & a couple fellow yelpers) outside, I was bummed. But thankfully they got us a table inside; by combining 3 small tables and asking a couple who were originally sitting at one of those small tables to move to another table (Thanks kind couple!). The good thing about eating with a lot of people is we can order many different dishes and try each others. So that's what we did, we ordered a bunch of appetizers and special rolls. Delicious appetizers: Black Cod Miso (Served with a little bit of black rice which I thought was interesting) & Rock Shrimp Tempura (My friends said it tasted like a Chinese dish but I don't remember the name =x ) Not-so-delicious ones: Sesame Tuna Tataki with mango salad and Oyster Rockefeller (Basically just fried oysters with the sweet & sour sauce) Awesamazing roll : * The crazy roll - My favorite dish of the night. I really liked the combination of shrimp tempura, avocado and crabmeat (real crab not the faux crab stick one) Good-but-not-spectacular rolls: * Mura roll - On the menu it says that there's smoked mozzarella in it which sounds so interesting but honestly I couldn't/didn't taste any mozzarella. It tasted smokey but I doubt that it's from the mozzarella. * Snow Crab Naruto - a roll of crab meat wrapped in thinly sliced cucumber. This was pretty good but I prefer it wrapped with rice. Not so bad rolls: * AAC - Stands for Avocado Asparagus Cucumber. I call it "healthy roll". * A roll with plum or something, I'm not sure. My vegan friend actually ordered this and she liked it a lot. It looked like cucumber roll from outside but as you bite into it there's a burst of sour liquid coming out. It reminded me of those sour candies that have juice inside them. One of my friends tried the Grilled Red Snapper dish and he seemed to enjoy it. Although he told me that the fish was pan fried instead of grilled. My only criticism is that they didn't have some of the stuff on the menu. We wanted to order shrimp lollipop and some tartare but they "ran out" that day. Oh well... I have to negatively update my review, I owe it to the other yelpers. Quality of sushi , and freshness, to me, is getting worse. Fried dishes delivered come cold and chewy. I wrote them a message on Yelp to inform them about a problem I had on a delivery and they did not get back to me. Prices are high and even after hundred delivery in two years they never gave a "preferred customer" discount or even a free nigiri, nothing to say: Thank you we appreciate your business and loyalty. You know you've found a legitimate Japanese restaurant when they know how to make sukiyaki the right way. It's obviously different when you're eating it from a hot sukiyaki bowl served fresh from the kitchen, but I'm glad with how my sukiyaki turned out. I'm not sure if I saw enoki mushrooms in the bowl but the combination of vermicelli noodles and crunchy vegetables and sweetness of the broth made for a very good dinner. They were also generous with their tofu portions. I LOVE tofu. And I love how they coated the soft and smooth tofu with flavor. I wish I knew how they made the tofu not break apart even though it was soft and smooth like that! read more

The sushi here is good. It's fresh and they offer a nice selection of creative rolls. The service is nice too but they have one major problem, consistently underestimating the time it will take to get a table. I've come here with small and large groups and every time we were told it would take at most 15 minutes and would end up waiting way longer. One thing they do right is offer a free appetizer for making us wait so long but if it happens consistently just be upfront and tell the customer how long the wait is. Although the delivery was prompt, my tuna sushi dinner consisted mostly of tuna scrape for their maki rolls (basically chopped up bits of leftover fish) and off-colored nigiri sushi that was a sickly pink rather than the deep red it should be (see posted photo). My name is "I Love Beef," but I also love sushi - especially ahi tuna. And when I receive such a sad state of looking and tasting fish, I get really upset. Not only did I spend $18.50 for a "meh" dinner, I've also unnecessarily exposed myself to mercury that's usually found in this fish. So it's a double whammy and a big disappointment. I've been coming to Mura since before the place burnt down and closed for about a year or so. I visit Mura at least once a week and I cannot say enough good things about it. Since I I have became a patron in 2007 (maybe 2008), I have seen staff change but the food is always fresh and consistent. You can't beat the lunch specials and they don't charge extra for brown rice. Fanny (or Fenny?) the waitress who works pretty much every day, is extremely warm and kind. She is never without a smile and is always more than willing to go the extra mile. There are a lot of Japanese restaurants in the neighborhood and I visit several of them, but Mura is my favorite. Went there for our anniversary and it was lunch time. The place was empty which I prefer because we had a toddler with us. The server was warm and very attentive. I've been here a few times for lunch, as it's a consistent, affordable, healthy option. The service is super friendly and there's a back yard if you want to eat outside on a nice day. I always get the same thing, the Bento Combo Box with Sushi. For $10.95, you get a small salad, miso soup, 4 pieces of sushi (2 salmon, 1 tuna, and 1 white fish I don't know the name of), 6 pieces of California roll, 3 shrimp shumai, a handful of edamame and a side of rice. It's good quality sushi prepared in a straight-forward manner. A very filling assortment of foods. The dining room tends to be quiet enough for conversation if you have someone with you. Sometimes they take too long to bring me my food. And I don't live that far. Approximately 20-25 mins on bike. So I don't understand how in the world it takes over an hour to deliver simple orders (like 2 salmon maki rolls). Also. The delivery people can be sort of Greedy. The last time I ordered from this place (because I decided that this was not worth it) the delivery man had to give me back change. I was counting the money so I could give him a tip but before I could even count the 3rd dollar he said "no tip?" With his hand out smirking. Let me make this clear. YOU DO NOT ASK FOR TIPS! Really nice staff and good value especially on the rolls

Walked in on a Monday night, craving good sushi and I am so happy I tried this place. When I walked in I was immediately greeted by friendly servers. It wasn't very packed which is what I preferred. The place is pretty big and very comfortable. I ordered the chicken teriyaki and sweet potato roll.
