The view is the only spectacular point of the entire restaurant. Do yourself a favor~ look at view and eat somewhere else. Our server did the best she could with 10 guests at our table and multiple other tables. The manager was walking thru restaurant, at least I think that's who he was, but did not talk to a single group or support his staff. We ate at the Mural Room during a recent visit while on a tour of the National Parks. It was a nice sized space with a good view. I stopped by with one of my friends also on the tour and I ended up getting the 1/2 lb. wyoming burger with swiss cheese, tomato, onion and as opposed to getting french fries, I opted for a fruit salad which they provided. It was a nice afternoon and I would recommend and return. read more

Buffet & a la carte brekkie available. We ordered off the menu: blini with salmon & caviar. Blini was a small pancake, caviar was actually fish eggs normally used for sushi. Food was ok, but not as advertised. VIEW is spectacular. Come for the view, not necessarily for the food. read more

I ordered the evening special for mid September 2019. Prime rib with asparagus and garlic potatoes. I enjoyed it with a whistle pig rye from the bar. Everything was very good and the service was prompt. The real selling point is fine dining with an evening view of the lake & mountains. read more

This place has good food with an even better view. Being able to look out into the willow forest and the Tetons while moose were walking by is something that is quite unforgettable. Lunch: their lunch was, in my opinion, their best meal. The prices were the most reasonable during this time of day and I had a fabulous elk/bison burger. ALL SUSTAINABLE too. Their dinner was extremely pricey, but very good as well. The breakfast buffet was good and had a ton of options. They only had two types of pastries though, and on the menu it said assortment of pastries... More like 2. The atmosphere, architecture, and view of the Mural Room really lived up to the hype. We had no reservation, and waited a mere 15 minutes with a drink in the lobby. We requested window seats and we're granted this pleasure. Our waitress Chelsea was charming and knowledgeable about the restaurant and food. My family and I didn't expect much from a restaurant inside a National Park, but we were hopeful due to some great Yelp reviews. Our expectations were unfortunately confirmed. Although the service was friendly and the dining room is adorned with impressive murals and beautiful views of the Tetons, the food left much to be desired: Seared Idaho rainbow trout- Too salty and very small portion of fish for the $18 charge Beef bourguignon- Flavor decent, but VERY scant on beef, and the noodles were very mushy Gunsight Notch burger- Although not bad, sounded much better on the menu than the actual product-- thus disappointing, especially for $18 House smoked Idaho trout Caesar salad- Our daughter enjoyed this dish, but was still hungry after finishing it Save your hard-earned $ and bring a picnic lunch into GTNP- that's what we will do next time. read more

Skip the breakfast buffet. We usually go to the Mural Room for their buffet once or twice per year. It has always been sort of hit and miss but for the most part ok enough to return the following season. This is our LAST breakfast buffet in the Mural Room. Today we arrived at 7 a.m. (When they were supposed to be open), and had to wait an additional 5-7 minutes to be seated and it was not particularly busy. The 2 hostesses seemed confused and not all that bright. Our server was very friendly and went out of her way to get my wife some gluten free toast, then we waited forever for coffee refills. She was very pleasant but not a good server. The buffet has been downsized and the selection limited. We're not the "eat all you can type" but like variety and accessibility. The buffet has scrambled eggs, the chef special of scrambled eggs with bacon crumbles, bacon, sausage and biscuits and gravy. If you wanted waffles or pancakes you had to wait on a long line where ONE cook was making those items to order! Where the heck is the traditional French toast that used to be included in the buffet? $35 (before tip) for 2 people to eat a not so good breakfast from a disappointing selection of items?? The eggs were fine, the bacon greasy and cool and I'm convinced the sausages were undercooked (my stomach is telling that tale). On a sanitary note: I visited the muffin/oatmeal/fruit area and found several items did not have serving utensils...people were using their bare hands to grab muffins and taking serving utensils from one fruit bowl to another - yuck! When you're in the parks you have to cut a certain amount of leeway on things. You tend to pay more and food can be good or not so good. That said, the Mural Room breakfast buffet has lost its way (service, selection, sanitation) and we will not be returning. read more

The food was nothing spectacular for the price point, including the lamb chops I ordered medium rare and that were served medium rare. Terrible food. And outrageously over-priced. The flank steak roulade was three little rolls of meat, each slightly bigger than a quarter, and maybe 1/4 inch thick, and cost $21. At lunch. The tiny pile of greens that came with it was literally dripping with salad dressing to the point where it was inedible. The kid's pasta was overcooked yet barely lukewarm. We sent it back and I am guessing they put the bowl in the oven, because the same pasta came back out, even more limp and overcooked, in a bowl that was too hot to touch. Seriously, you bring a KID'S MEAL out in a bowl too hot to touch? The chili had too much chili powder in it and the burger was burnt on the outside. Fries were cold. The final bill was horrifyingly high and we were all still hungry afterwards. The view is amazing, so save your money and eat a granola bar on the patio outside the lodge while drinking in the view. read more

Yes, Yes, Yes......a must do. Stay here, play here and dine here. This is a must ! spent 3 nights here in late May 2013 and wished we stayed 6 (spent 3 in old failthful inn - mistake !) Great views, great staff, good price, Internet (hello Yellowstone) and GREAT eats ! 1 hour from Jackson Hole, 1 1/2 hrs to Yellowstone.... incredible views, lots of wildlife !!! Had dinner here in July 2012. Wonderful atmosphere with great view of lake. Not noisy. People were dressy as well as casual--we were in shorts. Waitstaff was SUPER. We weren't rushed, but he immediately served the next course when we were ready. The creme brûlée was fabulous. Only negative is a very limited menu for vegetarians, but worth the trip. This was one of the worst breakfasts I have ever had. I ordered the Eggs Benedict. I could hardly detect any hollandaise, the eggs tasted like vinegar, the English muffin was barely toasted, if at all, and the potatoes were under cooked and cold. My husband ordered the bagel with lox and cream cheese and the bagel was burnt. We spent $45.00 for a breakfast that was just plain disgusting. read more

This dining room has a beautiful view of the Teton Mountains and the service was wonderful. They had a good lunch menu and prices were reasonable for this type of dining room. I had Chicken Pot Pie and my husband had a Panini type sandwich. It was wonderful. Being in the Teton National Park, you should take advantage of the Jackson Lake Lodge and all it has to offer. The view is spectacular. The food, really good. The SERVICE angered me. My review would be three or four stars, were it not for the terrible service by our waiter. His assistant was DELIGHTFUL, but he had no concern that we were there. First. Reservation on time, we were seated at exactly 8 pm. The assistant server greeted us with warmth and charm. She said our waiter would be by to discuss the specials and take our drink orders. She poured water and served us bread. When he finally arrived, he asked us what beverage we would prefer. I ordered a glass of wine, my date just water. He kind of rolled his eyes and said, "well, it looks like you are ready to order." We were and we did. He did not discuss "the specials" with us, as he did to the other tables. Our entrees arrived before the wine. I inquired about my glass of wine, three times. Was told, in a rather rough manner, that it was on its way. When I mentioned this to the "assistant" she profusely apologized and tracked him down. It wasn't hard to find him. He was standing a few feet away. He glared at us, disappeared, and returned with my glass of wine without a word. Now, this is not cheap dining. Two entrees, a shared dessert, and a glass of wine, nearly $100. But, come on. I am a HUGE tipper. Not last night. Of course, we will never see him again, because it was a once-in-a-lifetime trip. But I will say this, hoping the management reads these reviews. CARLY, the "assistant" was exceptional. She took time to say hello, ask where we were from, gave us some good tips on our stay, and helped us feel like we were worthy of her time. The guy waiting the table. It's a pain but this is place not as good as we thought it to be, cobwebs were everywhere . Trash behind drawers and towels were still wet from when they last washed them. The bathtub and shower were nasty with pink residue on the sides. I found one bug in the bathroom as well. Has dog hair on the floor and is not vacuumed very well at all. We reserved a specific table a day ahead but our table wasn't ready at our reserved time, so we had to wait an extra 45min. We were excited to try their oysters but they were out that evening, so decided on the over priced and over cooked salmon. Very disappointed! The wine we chose was also not available and it just kept going downhill from there. The children's menu offered a baked potato but those were also unavailable even though the adjacent diner did still have them. We were told they don't share with the diner so we walked over and got our own potato. The only reason we gave 2 stars is for the food server. She did the best she could with the situation. The Mural Room is a nice place to eat dinner in Grand Tetons NP. I would give the food 2/3 stars, and the ambience/service 2/2 stars - for a total of 4/5 stars. When you are seated they bring out a complimentary amuse-bouche course which, tonight, was a small cylinder of grilled watermelon with a dollop of cheese on top - I enjoyed this bite-sized dish. Next came their house made bread which was very fresh tasting and pleasingly soft. The butter that comes with the bread is artfully designed into the shape of a moose which was quite unique. I got the 8 oz. prime rib entree and the portion was plenty for me. One thing that was odd about the prime rib was that it was more of a steak than the kind of prime rib I am used to. I believe this is because they cut it into portions before they cook it, instead of slicing it to order like the prime rib I usually hav. Also, the side with this dish was potatoes and spinach which were coated in a horseradish sauce. The sauce was too strong for my liking and I think the potatoes and spinach would have been better without it. The prime rib was seasoned and cooked well, though. The service was good and the ambience was quite nice. I would recommend eating at the Mural Room, just don't expect the food to be the best you've ever had. The main appeal is the National Park lodge setting and especially the view of the Tetons (make sure to request to be seated at a table near the windows). read more

Go for the views. May be best for area, but left us unclear why they have received wine spectator awards for 2014, 2015 and 2016. We asked for the reserve list, assuming there was one, to find it was what it was. Then was delivered a bottle with a year not on the list with significantly lower rating. Ok, this happens. Then food was cold when delivered, and even colder when a new wine was delivered. Maybe we would not be so harsh had it not had the wine spectator recognition. No apologies offered, actually lost on the staff. Not worth the dollars, take in the view from outside the restaurant and enjoy warm food at the counter restaurant or another in the area. read more

When your at the lodge you are multi miles from any other food choice. The accommodations here are great. Pricy, but great. The food service help probably gets a 5 on a 10 point scale. There hands are somewhat tied because corporate "Vale Corporation " is only here for the money. Two meals here...first in Mural dining room. Small prime rib, ordered medium rare. It came out well done, cold potatoes and a few leaves of something green. All for $29.00 x 2. Server tried but kitchen is a factory just throwing it out. Second night ate at bar/grill. Busy, loud, fun, good pricy drinks. $10 gets you a glass of wine. I had ribs, $21.00 for 1/2 rack, tough, not hot with a little jar of mashed potatoes. I sent them back and asked for a steak knife to fight my way through them. I got a second chance but this time they were burnt. My vegetables got lost in the return. Worst ribs ever but mostly nobody cared. They just walk away and leave you there. The view from the lodge is top ten in the world. The food is bottom ten and expensive. Pack a sandwich. read more
