Either homophobic or incompetent. Wife and I are committed to supporting local business over big box stores so went to Murphys. The salespeople seemed REALLY nice but they never delivered on anything they said they would do. We came back 3 times and called twice over a month and a half but never got the promised samples. Ended up with installed carpet from Lowes & saved a lot. Queer folk - don't waste your time. read more

We try to support local businesses, but regretted it terribly with Murphy's. People in the show room seemed pleasant at first. Learned their work is all subcontracted out. We did not experience quality workmanship. A lot of damage was done that required repairs and subsequently additional expense. It appears they do what is easiest for them when in stalling versus what is the best and proper way to install. None professionals. Very disappointing to say the least. Had initially hoped to do a lot more work with them; however, following our negative experiences with them, we will go elsewhere. Buyer beware. read more

We've had a horrible experience with Murphy's. The quality of floor installation and staining is awful. They had to redo entire sections of our floors which delayed our move-in and we're still left with a bad outcome. Handrails have gobs of sealant on them, stain is blotchy in corners around the room, the color hardly matches between old and new floors, and we've got a footprint in our stain. I would like to say that this company is a true example of skill, service, and professionalism but I can't. I asked for a member of this business to come out and give me a quote for my floor but never got a quote or even a return phone call especially after a gentleman came to my home. I guess they just aren't able to work on or repair wood floors but of course I would not know because apparently they don't how to return phone calls. I'm perfectly fine with taking my money and recommendation elsewhere. read more

My new carpet is installed, on time and very well done. The installers were polite, friendly, helpful and knew what they were doing. I have had experience with three other flooring suppliers in this area recnetly, tyring to get this job done, all ending badly. If you want a quality job done DO NOT use Murphy's Flooring in Woodstock. We hired Keith Murphy to replace flooring in our new home based on a competitive price and he seemed very honest and helpful. After we spent over $6,000 for the job we quickly started noticing some areas of floor had much more movement than other areas. We even had over a one inch gap between the floors and the walls. After several emails and calls before a response, Keith finally sent the installer Victor back out to fix the issues. This was only the beginning of the problems. Over the 18 months it has been since they first finished the job, we have had Victor (we would rate him even lower) out at the house 5 or 6 times to fix more issues. This whole process was a nightmare and the follow up and communication from Keith is almost as bad as the installers ability to actually install floors. We were eventually told by Keith that they have done all they can and it must be a manufacturer issue. Even after we told him there are boards that aren't even connected anymore any people actually trip over them due to how uneven the floor is. So we reached out to the manufacturer, who then came out to assess the product and installation. They were extremely helpful in letting us know the several issues regarding the faults in the installation such as (leaving staples in the ground, trying to cover them up with leveling compound, actually nailing in pieces of boards on a floating floor, etc..) After some back in forth with the manufacturer, they sent out a small crew and fixed the mistakes. Keep in mind they used all the same product that was already on the floor and a few pieces that were left over from the original boxes. Without having to pay another company to re-do all the mistakes that were made, we now have to go purchase a larger quarter round and install to hide the gaps in areas. Please look elsewhere for your flooring needs, we had three quotes that were all around the same price as Murphy's and chose him figuring the smaller shop would do quality work. Wow were we wrong! I can't speak to the quality of any competitors, but don't think any could do much worse. read more
