Very friendly staff. It was a gorgeous day but I chose to sit inside. There are plenty of beer selections at this place over 100 taps. I had the southern love quesadilla. It was very good with pulled pork, cheese and bacon. The Happy Hour drafts were a bargain as well. The only issue was that it is listed as a sports bar but only has local team coverage. Walking in the atmosphere seemed very modern and new. I expected good diner food, I ordered a steak and cheese omelet, nothing fancy. I waited 45 minutes for the food to arrive. Meanwhile conversation was difficult in the space due to the echoey acoustics in the all tile and metal diner. Others in the party ordered an oatmeal and it wasn't even fully cooked. The special, Waldorf salad was also ordered and that was too dry, not enough grapes and nuts and the chicken pieces were too big and over cooked. The wait staff gave excuses about why the food was taking so long but the reason does not matter. We got to the diner at 1230, 45 minutes for mediocre diner food is not worth it. read more

I booked my rehearsal dinner here in their private room in the back. I thought it would be the perfect spot to host a group of 60 of my closest family and friends. I spoke with Mike the manager and he assisted me to make the menu for the event and assured me it would run smoothly. I had ordered appetizers to be put on as guests arrived at 5:30. These came out at 6:45. Next, salads were brought out to each guest (late since we started apps late but that was no big deal). The problem was, no silverware was brought with the salads and there were no spoons for the dressing. Next the waitress took our orders. We preselected 5 menu options with Mike's assistance. There was supposed to be 2 waitresses on for our party and one called out. As the food came out, it was brought out extremely slow. My tables food was delivered first and my parents and grandparents food came out an hour and 30 minutes later. It was now after 8:00 and we had people who had to leave without eating. The kitchen ran out of food and was putting random food on the plates. Food was coming out ice cold as well at this point. I had ordered coffee and tea to come out after dinner with dessert and the server told one of my guests there was no coffee. When I told them I pre ordered coffee, they brewed one small pot for 60 people. They also put out a large box of various teas but no hot water. People were starting to take dessert and our dinner plates were not even cleared. I started stacking them for the waitress. Overall, it was an awful and embarrassing experience. If they couldn't handle the size of the party, they should not have booked it. read more

My buddy and I now frequent Murphy's because of the great service we receive from Lisa. We actually followed her when she left another establishment we would visit weekly. When we show up our drinks arrive promptly as we sit down as Lisa knows what we drink. She swings by and verifies what our usual order of food is in the event we switch things up a little. Food has always been good. Enjoy the outside patio during the summer. Not cracked on the Tuesday musical performer as it can get hard to hear. The polite, professional and friendly service we receive from Lisa is the reason we go. If she decides to go to another establishment during her career we will continue to follow her. As a server, I'm appalled at the waitstaff. I've been here many times thinking it'll be better, but unless I'm sitting at the bar and Kenny's taking care of us, we don't get quality service. We come for the beer selection and that's about it. Last night was a perfect example of the waitstaff. Sat at a wet table on the patio, had to wipe it off myself, never got a drink menu, finally she came over 10 minutes later to get me a coke. Told her we'd be getting drinks and food when my friend joined and when he did we sat there without drinks for a good 15 minutes. After another 20 minutes of waiting for her to take our food order she asked "we'll are you going to eat!?" We gave her our order, which came out wrong, no apology was given. Last week was the first time I went to Murphy's. My friends wanted to go so I decided to give it a try. The patio looked great so we sat outside. I think we sat there for 10-15 minutes before even being acknowledged, but we let that slide since it was really busy. We waited another 10-15 minutes before ordering drinks and appetizers, and then another 10 minutes before receiving our drinks. My friend did not like the drink she ordered, so by the time we actually got one of the 30 servers outside to come over, she gave my friend an attitude and then just grabbed her drink and took off. My friend was going to get something different, but instead the server just brought her the same exact drink, just with less alcohol this time... Problem NOT solved! So instead, we got our food boxed up, paid up and left. There are plenty of other bars in Manchester that are well worth your time and money, this place is not one of them unfortunately. read more

We are all generous tippers but each time we approached the bar we seemed to be ignored because we weren't regulars. They set us up with extra tables at short notice, and were great about splitting orders/checks etc. The food was excellent and our server, Kelly, was absolutely awesome! She put up with the craziness of multiple orders at various times and smiled through it all! She was attentive without being intrusive and we all thought she was just the best!! Stopped in tonight for the first time and found that all draft beers were only $2 each. The service was great, and it was nice that the kitchen was open until midnight. I used the restroom, and found it surprisingly clean for such a busy night. I expected the food to be typical pub grub, but I ordered the Shepherd's Pie and was pleasantly surprised with the delicious taste. My girlfriend had a burger, and she said it was excellent. I had some of her sweet potato fries, and thought they were really good. The service was efficient and friendly. Again, for such a busy night I never had to wait for my glass to be refilled. All-in-all, one of the best I've found in Manch, and I'll be back. read more

I have been to Murphy's many times and I have to say that I have never once had a great experience there. There staff is far from good and not once have I ever received a beer or a meal in a timely manner regardless how busy it is. I have played on their sports league and on many occasions have been treated with little to no respect by the staff as well as charging me for things I did not buy. The only reason Murphy's is still in business is because Elm st does not have a big enough bar with outdoor seating, however if they did people would certainly stop going there. We have gone here several times a year as it is convenient to both the Verizon and Northeast Delta Dental Stadium, has good beer, and decent food. This most recent time, we looked at the online menu to get an idea of what we'd order ahead of time. When we got the check, we noticed that some of the beers noted as eligible for the $2 special were charged at full price. We checked the "paper" menu and noticed it was different from the online menu. Asked our server who indicated that the menu was changed a couple of months ago and apparently these changes were not made online (some of the food prices were increased as well). The server said she'd let her manager know and on a return trip our table said she had called upstairs to the manager who's response seemed to be "sorry, but tough". It was early, and the place was empty, but a second hand brush off from the manager was all we got. I've seen several comments about unhappy servers; I'd be unhappy too, if you wouldn't let me fix the problem and wouldn't show your face to deal with it yourself. On the surface, this is a minor issue, but it says a couple of things about the establishment. 1 - They aren't really concerned about the customer. Adjusting our check for 3 beers and standing behind what they have online would have quickly resolved the issue and made us happy customers. Instead, I'm writing this review, telling other people, and not sure that I'll ever go back. 2 - They aren't well organized. The menu changed a couple of months (not weeks) ago. Plenty of time to update the online version (which is easier and cheaper to update than printing new menus). Makes me wonder what else isn't working very well.... read more

My friends and I go here often and in our experience, the server or bartender on determines the quality of the experience that you have. It is not consistently good service; however it has gotten better recently. The food is surprisingly good and the draft selection is unbeatable. The specials are competitive, and when the deck is open it is the best bar to be at in Manchester. We stopped in to Murphy's this past St. Patrick's Day weekend and received pretty awful service from Jillian. We are not unreasonable, we understand this is a very busy weekend so I can understand waiting a bit longer for service, drinks, etc. It was more difficult to tolerate blatant rudeness and an overall disinterest in providing a decent experience for guests, especially on a special holiday. Ultimately, Murphy's is a great bar to go to. Many people complain about the service, but don't let a bad experience with service here or there stop you from trying it out for yourself. read more

We waited for someone to come over, had to tell the host we were there, still waited. We had to order our own beers at the bar When our apps FINALLY came the waiter said oops I never brought you any silverware. He NEVER DID! We had to get up and find our own napkins! The food was nothing to talk about. We ordered two more beers that never came and had to ask for them We spent about two hours in this place for a couple beers and apps. All the beer in the world can't make up for the lousy food, indifferent service, and slow response to the most basic request. All out of haddock, so I ordered mussels. They were rubbery and so over-salted they must have been sitting in brine for days. Companions had ordinary wraps that might have come from a school cafeteria. It's wednesday evening in Manchester, NH and my husband got home from work around 7pm suggested that we try Murphy's Taproom...( For the first time) We always seem to see that it's packed and wanted to know 'what's going on there". We were able to seat ourselves at the bar after we walk through the cloud of cig smoke at the entrance - 1st turn off for me. Then we ordered a couple beers and the bartender gave us a couple of sticky menus. A second bartender came over to mix a couple drinks and major spillage occured all over our area... No acknowledgement that anything happened - or an attempt to clean up the mess. This made me focus on the faces of the servers. No one seemed to be happy they were there. Scowls galour. Wednesday nite is 1/2 price off drinks for ladies - yet we weren't told and when I asked if the beer I ordered was half... the reply was no - only on liquour. Maybe a menu update is in order? I will say the food was delicious - no complaints there. Funny tho how food is always good when you are hungry. While we were eating one of the waitresses - blond wearing a very short skirt was talking to some associates while waiting for her drink order when I heard some explitives. Now I've heard this kind of language before - but thought it was very inappropriate coming from an employee - usually that's something you hear from a patron that's consumed to much or just ignorant. As a person who has owned a business in the food industry it is a question why anyone would return to this establishment as hospitality is more than half the experience. While waiting to be served I witnessed the owner being hostile toward one of his employees reprimanding her in public without the slightest indication that customers and other employees were watching. It wasn't just a typical scolding it was one that brought his employee to tears in the middle of the restaurant. It disgusted me not only as a business man but as a human. I have now tried both Murphy's locations (Manchester and Bedford) and found both disappointing as far as being an Irish pub or restaurant. Sure, they have lots of beer options on tap at each location but the food menu is severely lacking to be called a true Irish menu . On 9/14/2017 we tried Murphy's newest location (Bedford) with two friends and because of poor design the noise level and echo makes it so you have to yell to have a conversation. Again, the menu is lacking any true Irish food and the Scottish eggs which was some of the closest to Irish I found to be lacking flavor and gravy. I will probably try the Bedford location again with the hope it gets better but It takes more than an Irish name and a logo to be an Irish restaurant. read more

The only reason I gave 2 stars and not 1 is because when I was there last Wednesday they had $2 drafts on many great selections of beers. This is the ONLY time I would even consider going. I went on a Wednesday and there were very few people there, but I was with a group of about 15 people that all know each other. The upstairs bar tender (where the better selection was) acted like we were an inconvenience and ignored everyone in the group most of the time. My first drink I waited at the counter while watching the bar tender walk by me several times and take orders for people who were just walking in. meanwhile I'm waiting. They advertise a selection of taps so finally he came over and I ask what IPA's are on tap, he turns around and grabs a menu right behind him (where he has walked by several times) throws a menu at me and moves on. People in the group were complaining the whole time about the bar tender, one girl was even scared to pay her tab at the end of the night. The bartender downstairs was actually really friendly and much more helpful, however there was a terrible comedian down there and our group wasn't interested. At 12:30 a friend and I decided we'd get one last drink and went the counter. The bar tender began playing with ice and cleaning (not making eye contact) and said 3-4 word phrases we could not make out. Finally he looked up and said "I'm cutting your group off!". Why he couldn't just say that and had to be an A##hole I will never know. The bar was clearing out besides us and the entire waitstaff was standing around with the bartender behind the counter not doing anything. Maybe the bartender thought he was being cool in front of the girls. Anyways... my take on the night is this place has awful management/ ownership and the employees don't care about the business but only themselves. (at least the upstairs). The employees probably didn't want us ordering another drink because they were afraid we'd stay past 1am and they wanted to go home and have an easy night. Never have I felt so unwelcome to buy a bunch a beers and tip %100 the whole night. So many bars in Manchester are welcoming (and have better food), hence I will never return to Murphy's and support a business like that. read more
