We had a great meal at the bar. Loved the atmosphere. Great place for a casual dinner and drinks. The bartender, Cameron, was great. I had the crispy fried buttermilk chicken sandwich. I highly recommend!

From the name, you might think this is just a sports bar, but in fact its unassuming facade hides a quality local restaurant with both good food and good drink. We first found this place looking for late-night eats (kitchen closes at 11pm, just 1 hour before the restaurant), but I would definitely come back for pre/post-movie dinner, or lunch if I were out running errands in Squirrel Hill. Food and drinks enjoyed by all, especially the dark hot chocolate with raspberry schnapps.

Fun place to spend a Friday night. Went with my roommate and her family. We were told it was going to be an hour's wait, but we only wait twenty minutes which was nice. Our waiter was super nice and prompt with bringing our drinks and food. He was knowledgable about the beers on tap and the ingredients used in the food. My food was delicious, I just wish there was more on the plate. Overall good price for the quantity.

Good location & friendly staff. *happy hour 5pm-6pm - $1 off drinks* We started off ordering beers and soups. I ordered the lobster bisque and my friend ordered the French onion soup. Both were decent. The lobster bisque could have used some chunks in it (though I understand that I'm not in a place near water- so overall, pretty good but nothing to go crazy about.) The French onion soup was also fine, though nothing mind blowing. I ordered the salmon burger with a side of sweet potato fries. I did enjoy the sweet potato fries, just enough seasoning; though I feel the salmon burger needed the help of the aioli it came with to help spruce up the taste. The steak sandwich was my friends choice. I did have a bite and it was flavorful, just nothing memorable. Their side of potato salad was bomb though! I'd definitely recommend the potato salad as a side.

Came across this place just walking down Murray ave looking for a place to eat. Didn't check yelp beforehand but was surprised to see this place is not more highly rated. We came on a Saturday night so we expected the wait to be pretty bad but it was only ~20 minutes. The servers and greeter were all super friendly and courteous. I got the brisket sandwich and my wife go the crab cake sandwich which were both amazingly delicious. She had also gotten a French onion soup which I'm usually not a fan of, but I tried it and just had to order another one for myself. Oh and the sweet potato fries were very crispy and fresh as well. You can get it for just an extra dollar with your entree.

First timer at the grill on murray ave and had an excellent meal. Started with the roasted red pepper hummus appetizer and was surprised how well it was prepared. The hummus was almost creamy not sure how they did that and the pita bread was toasted to a good black for flavor. We got two entree's: Salmon salad and a smoke brisket sandwich with sweet potato fries. The salmon salad was right sized and included fresh avocado slices and plenty of red roasted peppers, included a roll and balsamic vinegarette. The smoke brisket sandwich was AWESOME! Great job reason for 5 stars. I was surprised how much brisket was on it. The bread was toasted and had coleslaw on it the slaw was superb. At every first time visit at a restaurant with brisket i order that, this ranks at the top! Great job! sweet potato fries were crispy and excellent Topped off with almond torte which was real good great stuff there was nothing bad about this place staff was friendly and very attentive good atmosphere and cozy will be back for brisket samich :) It had good smoke flavor too!!

We ordered our son an entree Mac N Cheese. It was to be a large portion with bacon and the works and cost $16 plus tax. When we got home it was a tiny portion in a small app container with nothing else. It was not even close to what was described on the menu. On the menu it says, "Pipette Macaroni and Cheese Topped with Applewood Smoked Bacon, Tomatoes and Breadcrumbs - 15.99" and it is supposed to come with a salad. I think they gave us a small appetizer or the kid's one for 5.99. It did not come with the salad either. Either way, it was a complete rip-off. I don't like paying for things and not being provided what I am supposed to get.

My volleyball team came here after a game at the JCC, since it was conveniently within walking distance. As expected for a Wednesday, there were very few people inside and we were able to get a table for 6 right away. They have a happy hour special of half off drafts from 10pm-11pm; however the waiter told us their drafts were not working so we could only order bottled and mixed drinks. The waiter did bring us all glasses to pour our drinks into though. My teammate ordered the loaded tater tots and shared a few with me. They were good, nice and crispy, covered in bacon and a small layer of cheese. A few more ingredients as toppings would have really made this appetizer delicious. The restaurant is small but has a comfortable amount of space and is clean and modern. Our waiter was very nice, efficient and let us relax and talk at the table after we finished our drinks and food. Fun surprise of this restaurant is you get 2 tootie rolls with your check.

The owner is so so sweet here and always makes sure to walk around and check on everybody. The drinks are a little pricey. We all really liked our food. We wished the tacos had a little more fish, it seemed like majority lettuce. the fries are really really good!! i really enjoyed the spicy chicken wrap, it's not too spicy where you need to chug water but spicy enough to have good flavor. this was my second time coming here and i will continue to come here with my family

I've ordered from here several times thanks to Uber Eats! My review is only for the quality of food as I have never been inside. Both times I ordered a burger, the Saxonburg Burger and the Gourmet Burger. Also tried the mac and cheese. Even with taking 15-20 minutes for delivery the food arrived warm and in perfect condition, no mushy buns or fries. All requests I entered in the app were honored. I don't eat burgers too often but this place makes me want to eat them more! So flavorful.

It's a proper neighborhood butcher shop on Butler Street, the kind of place that had mostly disappeared around here. They do whole animal butchery with meat sourced from local Pennsylvania farms, and you can feel how much the folks working there care about what they're doing. It's not a huge space, just a display case full of cuts, a wall of house made goods, and a small sandwich menu, but that's part of the charm. The staff were friendly and happy to point me in the right direction. The sandwiches are what really got me though. The smash burger is fantastic, a double patty on a challah bun with that special sauce, and you can actually taste the quality of the beef, which makes sense given the whole operation is built around good meat. I also grabbed some of their house made pastrami, and it did not disappoint, tender and full of flavor. Knowing everything is made in house, right down to the bacon and sausages, makes it even better. If you live nearby and don't have a butcher yet, this is the one.

Love the decor in the shop. There were many prepared food options in the fridge, as well as various cuts of meat/preparations of it. We got two sandwiches, the cheesesteak and the marbella. I dont think we ended up with the correct order because we didn't end up with a cheesesteak, but did not realize until we got home. I'm positive that if I went back to the shop they would've remedied the situation, but I didn't feel it was necessary! The sandwich we did end up with was good as well, unsure which one it was though. Very fair prices, and our dog was so happy we brought him home a bone as well! Looking forward to coming back and trying everything they have to offer.

I ordered the Moonlit Smashburger and the hubby ordered a chicken sandwich; we also ordered fries and a drink to share. The cup for the drink was super duper tiny though, and we weren't sure about refills so we just took shallow sips. Next time we'll make sure to get two drinks. The smashburger was so good!! Tessaro's American Bar…read more Great Atmosphere, Great Staff, but Food and Facilities Missed the Mark Tessaro's American Bar has an amazing atmosphere. The place looks fantastic, the vibe is great, and the wait staff was excellent, friendly, knowledgeable, and there were plenty of them, so service was quick and attentive. The cocktails were very good and definitely one of the stronger parts of the night. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the setting or the price. We ordered a hamburger with fried potatoes and a blackened shrimp pasta. Both dishes were good, but nowhere near great. My fiancé felt the hamburger needed seasoning. It tasted mostly like plain ground meat with cheese and mushrooms on top. The pasta dish came with impressively large shrimp, but the rest of the meal didn't match that quality. It was just spiral pasta in a runny Alfredo sauce that never thickened, even as it cooled, almost as if the pasta went straight from the water into the sauce. The flavor was fine, but nothing memorable. For the portion sizes, the pricing felt high. A small pasta dish, two cocktails, and a hamburger came to about $90, and the food simply didn't justify that cost. I also want to mention the bathrooms. For as nice as the place looks, both myself and my fiancé were pretty disappointed. They reminded me of old mall bathrooms, cold, dated, and not well maintained. They're also located right next to the kitchen, which led to an uncomfortable moment. When I stepped out, a blond busser with glasses was loudly cursing at another employee in the kitchen. I was within ten feet of them, so I heard the whole exchange, including him saying he was going to tell someone to "go F themselves." Not exactly the kind of thing you expect to walk into at a place with such a polished atmosphere. Don't get me wrong, the meals were good. The service and cocktails were great. But between the food not matching the price point and the bathroom/kitchen experience, the night didn't quite live up to what the atmosphere promised.
