If I could give no stars I would. I live around the corner but never went there because my regular barber was near my office. I went three months ago and got a good haircut. I thought that the same women was cutting my hair. Boy was I wrong! Worst haircut ever. Not short enough. Choppy. Uneven. When I complained she didn't seem to know how to fix it. To her credit she refused my offer of payment. Her boss was another matter. I told him what happened and he said I still had to pay. When I told him she had refused payment he got surly and said "You did the same thing to me a year ago. I told him that this was only my second time there and both times had been within the last three months. He yelled at me and called me an asshole. Paid 30's for a bald fade and the lady had zero idea of what that was. I should have walked out but didn't. Almost no blending, and she started the "fade" about a half inch higher on the left side than the right. I have no idea how she didn't notice. I would have said something but there's an air that there is a language barrier. I've gotten 3 haircuts from this place, 1 good, one acceptable, and this one is so abhorrently bad I hope to steer anyone who cares about a decent fade away from this "barbershop" read more

Really wanted to like this place after the reviews. Asked for a skin taper and it wasn't down to the skin. The sides were uneven and almost patchy. Had to ask for it to be fixed twice. Just didn't seem like the lady could tell that it was uneven and needed to be blended more. A 1 taper should be pretty simple to cut. They offered everyone gel or to have the hair done after the cut but completely skipped over me. Kinda just finished without asking if I was satisfied. For the price point, it's decent. I've getting my hair cut by Yan for about 30 yrs back when he was a kid in the west village for $8 a cut. He is skilled and listens to what his customers want with perhaps a friendly suggestion or two. I have grey hair now and have only gone to other barbers when I've had to and was out of the country. We walked down from 310 Lexington, a wholesome healthy .3 mile walk. Ultimately saw the sign: FIRST TIME RATE. Went in and 2 out of 5 chairs were available, and a young woman with bright white sneakers said "sit down" , and gestured towards the barber chair. So, I did. And, she asked what do you want and I said make me look like Sean Connery or a young Harrison Ford and she said trim and I said o.k. 10 or 15 minutes later, bingo. Seems good. read more

Stumbled across this gem back in March but didn't want to write a review until I had been there a couple of times. I'm sure all of us have had the misfortune of getting an amazing cut when your new and then getting lackluster service and bad cuts soon after. Just went for like the 4th time last weekend and I gotta say they are super consistent with their cuts. Always good and u don't have to wait for an hour. I can't speak for any of the other barbers (even though I have yet to see their customers walking out w a crazy cut) but Manny is the best. He's the only one I've been to and the guy deserves a 6th star. Manny is a master at what he does and a perfectionist. He won't let u get off his chair until he's got the cut down perfectly. He's a good barber that won't talk your ear off or make u feel like u gotta strike up conversation either. Nice clean place that is definitely my "go to" barber shop from now on! read more

If you're sitting over at Supercuts down the block, get the hell out of there and come here. This place will cut your hair right quick, and they'll do it correctly and quickly. As a true master of the buzz cut, spending over $20 is reprehensible and financially unsustainable. The proper range is $15-18. Over at Yan they'll give you a buzz or a chop or a clip session for $16 (I think). Not only that but they give you the neck shave with hot lather at no additional charge. Small joint, never crowded, easy process. If you're anything like me and hate waiting in a barbershop, enjoy fresh cuts, and appreciate efficiency, this is your spot. I was in the neighborhood and desperate for a cut, which I usually get by my in-home barber/spouse. I'm writing this as a female-bodied, gender-variant, masculine-of-center, etc. person for anyone else who may be in similar shoes. I was apprehensive because I didn't know if I would be turned away or given a hard time for being female-bodied, but this was *not* the case at all. I wanted a masculine cut, no "feminine" adjustments, so I didn't have to ask about that. Luiza was succinct but patient as she worked with me to figure out what I wanted. I wasn't familiar with barbershop lingo, which was the only thing I would recommend boning up on if you're a newbie or spoiled like myself. BEST CUT I've ever gotten by a trained person and the price $15+tip for first-time visit ($18+tip otherwise, I think) was a relief! Other barbers and patrons weren't an issue either - climate was no frills but professional. I'm keeping my spouse as primary barber cuz $$ but the next time I'm desperate I'll happily make the trek from Brooklyn to Murray Hill. I've got my lingo ready for next time ;-) read more

The women who cut my hair did a comically terrible job. Before butchering my head, i said "not too short" and she repeated it. And then I don't know she just kept cutting. 10 minutes before the disaster ended I was thinking ok good she's finally done. But nope. She just kept cutting.
