For those who don't know what the Dubai chocolates are, they are milk chocolates filled with shredded phyllo dough and pistachio cream. My first impression was whether or not I had walked into an art gallery or a confectionary shop. Uh...turns out both! According to their website, the owner and her partner were originally artists prior to becoming chocolatiers. This place just screams creativity and their chocolates are ethically-sourced and almost too pretty to eat. They even have a backroom gallery to showcase local artists' confectionary-inspired works. We couldn't find the Dubai chocolates, but one of the employees approached us and asked if we needed any assistance. Turns out they were in the back and they had just received a shipment! The Dubai chocolates were nutty, crunchy, flaky, and velvety all in one! Pricey, but worth trying. Also, might I just take a moment to say I absolutely adore the shop's name! It almost looks like "XO Chocolate" as in kisses and hugs, bu also reminded me of the language of the ancient Latin American civilizations and - fun fact - Xocolatl (you see the play on words?) means chocolate (literally means "bitter water") back when they would mix purely cocoa and water as a drink. If I'm not mistaken, this business is Latina-owned, so perhaps that was intention? So clever and, either way, kudos to them!

Packed inside this small space was an amazing array of candies. Felt like museum; candy store and art gallery mixed into one. Amazing displays. Great local sweets. Friendly staff. We spent more time than we expected. And to be honest, we probably could have spent more. Delightful place to explore and indulge in your sweet tooth.

We purchased : Guava cheesecake 9/10 Strawberry cheesecake 9/10 Cookie butter cheesecake 10/10 flavor on point, so creamy and delicious Dubai cheesecake 10/10 I love that the kataifi is crunchy still and it has the perfect layers of chocolate and kataifi - this would isn't edible with a spoon lol, you haven't to bite into it due to how hard the chocolate in the center is Cookie butter brownie 1000/10 omg to die for, so so delicious I highly recommend ! Sometimes this combination can be overwhelming with the heavy chocolate and cookie butter but this was suuuch a PERFECT balance, not too sweet, just perfect! I loved everything in my visit today and spent $38 for a 6 pack of cheesecakes , the brownie , and 1 water bottle Be sure to stop by on your next visit to Bay St!

I tried the s'mores one not really knowing what to expect, but it ended up being a pleasant surprise. The marshmallow had this light, fluffy texture that paired really nicely with the cookie crumble on top, it gave it just the right mix of soft and crunchy. One thing to keep in mind, these are best enjoyed fresh. Once you take them home and stick them in the fridge, the toppings can start to harden and the overall texture isn't quite the same. So if you can, dig in right away. The spot itself is easy to miss, it's tucked into a little nook along Bay Street, right across from Jars. Definitely worth seeking out if you're in the area.

When you go inside all the cheesecake and cookies, Peach cobbler just makes you feel so at home and feel good. Place was operating well, seem like a great business. I've heard many things about Gregory's Gourmet Desserts but tried it today for the first time…read more Parking was a challenge, with the location being nestled within downtown, closer to Lake Merritt. I was surprised that no one spoke of business specifics in their reviews. There is a limit to how many can come in; and you are not allowed to touch anything when inside. There are also no prices listed anywhere. We thought this was odd. Our order: * Personal Peach Cobbler * Walnut Brownie * Banana Pudding For these 3 items, our total was over $25. The service was friendly but a bit awkward. You are only able to see cases of dessert options, it is more of a pick-up point, not so much a bakery location you can browse. I wouldn't suggest coming as a large group, there is no where to sit to enjoy your baked goods and parking is very difficult. While the cobbler and banana pudding were good, I wasn't a fan of the brownie. My partner enjoyed the cobbler a lot, but when we did the calculations, the prices were astronomical. I'm not sure what gourmet difference the items contained, but we likely would not come back to this bakery considering prices and parking. The location is cute, in theory, but with no actual location or displays, or price lists- what you pay for doesn't balance out. The lack of transparency for prices was very sus to us. I'm sure the business will continue on especially with how much they charged. I can't imagine the bakery location and building rent costing a lot as far as operating costs; as it is small, and not expansive at all. The price of the baked goods doesn't even go towards branded packaging. Which could be understandable. The only beverages available that I seen was Nesquik. Steep prices with no justification - especially when you have other bakeries in the area, in addition to Nation's for Pies, very affordable and classic as well. E&J's has a great banana pudding and cobbler as well for $6- they are also a Black-owned business and family operated. Absolutely no bad intent, just wanting to share transparency in my review so Yelpers know that prices are not listed, which means they are subject to fluctuation- in this economy that is not a fair way of doing business. One star per item we liked, for this review. As much signage is visible upon entry regarding rules and limited persons for entry at a time- not one area provided prices; only signs that tell you not to touch. It's required by law for prices at every establishment to be listed, according to SB 478 for general consumer goods and services in California.
