I do wish the room that we practiced in was a bit more spacious (it is about the size of a walk in closet ) . After my last two lessons, I was given chords to practice at home on my keyboard (which is a good way of staying fresh and keep the progress going ) . I feel like the previous 2 star reviews here on Yelp are a bit harsh , since the staff has been nothing but friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating (even when I am running late.) He has really helped my son find new styles of music and new artists to explore. They do offer recitals and rock band practice, but my son is pretty introverted so we haven't participated in them yet. While I've known of this store and the Piorkowskis for some time, it's only within the last year that I've become a customer. Both of my daughters have begun lessons here, on piano and guitar. The staff is extremely accommodating, matching the student with the most suitable instructor. They will ask if you're serious about formal training, or would rather take a more casual approach. They will also work with you to accommodate your scheduling needs. The current rate is $16 per half hour, which is very reasonable. Payment is due at each lesson. If you have to cancel and can give at least 24 hours, you won't be charged, and you'll be offered a makeup date if you'd like one. The joint is always jumping - there will likely be at least a dozen students across two floors. It can get cacophonous in the waiting room, but the energy level is inspiring. I might just take up some lessons for myself.

Service is great because all the employees are actual musicians and not college kids looking for part time jobs like the competition has. Keep the locally owned dream alive! Unfortunately, over the course of one month of back-and-forth questions and answers to and from the owners and/or representatives of Vinyl Sound, this is most definitely a one-star review. Highly surprising from a hi-fi/audiophile retailer, as I've only had one other negative experience in my entire life from a different retailer. My requests were seemingly simple: 1) bearing oil for my Transrotor ZET 3.1 turntable; 2) replacement belts for the turntable, and; 3) a request regarding the possibility of making a cover for my turntable. Over a 29-day period, here is the breakdown, in number of days, of their response times to my various e-mail requests: 1, 5, 8, 0, 0, and finally, after waiting 14 days for a reply, I sent a final e-mail requesting an update but have yet to receive an answer. It's now 22 days without a reply at the time of this review. There are many other dealers to choose from. Select another that's not Vinyl Sound and likely be much more satisfied.
