I almost don't want to write this review because I don't want this place getting too busy. Mustache Mike's is tucked away in a little strip mall in Placentia and has quickly become one of our favorite dessert spots. We've been back about half a dozen times in the past month, which says everything. The flavors are delicious and nostalgic. The Big Daddy reminds me of eating a Big Stick ice cream as a kid, and Da Bomb tastes just like a Bomb Pop. They have tons of Italian ice flavors to choose from, plus creamy vanilla and chocolate custard that takes everything over the top. On our first visit, Angelica was amazing. She was so friendly, let us sample several flavors, and even shared some of her personal favorites. That kind of service makes you want to come back. It's a small spot with limited outdoor seating, but honestly, it's just as good sitting in your car enjoying your treat. They also have a stamp card and even offer catering. My only complaint? They close at 9 PM. I'd gladly support this place even later into the night. Do yourself a favor and check out Mustache Mike's... but maybe only tell your close friends. read more

honestly, didn't think it was that great. the ice flavors are all muted. the custard was more like heavy cream soft serve. if you've been to joes Italian ice, joes is way better I sampled a ton of the flavors and I settled with the aloha with custard, it was good. nothing i wanted to come back for honestly. service: very nice!! they were patient with me trying everything. ambiance: Very small inside. The absolute BEST Italian ice on this Planet!! Highly addicted and very very YUMMY. I had so many kinds of Italian Ice throughout my lifetime and Moustache Mikes Italian ice sets the bar at the absolute highest standards. They also have the best and friendliest staff ever!! The only sad part is that their store is so far away from where I live. Every time I go to the OC area, I always have to stop by to get my Italian ice fix. My next project would have to clear my freezer to make room to buy and store their Italian ice as they sell them in a very large container. I am praying one day they would open a store near my area in Temecula (hint hint). read more

This little Italian ice spot has a lot offer with amazing flavors. The location can be hard to see from the street but its right next to a Del taco. Mustache Mike's has so many flavors but adding the custard on top is the ultimate. TRY IT! Their flavors are unique and I suggest asking for samples. Staff is super helpful and quick. The ice cream shop is in a very small parking lot. The shop itself looks very dirty and it's a very small space. When I arrived to the gentleman behind the counter, had two girls in the shop. He was chitchatting with. I'm assuming his friends. They all made me feel incredibly uncomfortable, making snide comments. The gentleman behind the counter was friendly with this night comments from his friends. It was a very uncomfortable experience. The ice cream itself was not good. Italian ice with custard is my new guilty pleasure! Im not going to lie, I could NOT understand the combination of mixing custard with the deliciousness of the Italian ice, but once I tried it I will never have it any other way. It elevates it to a whole other level, especially when the custard is as good as mustache Mike's custard! BUT, what's even better than great food (IMO) is GREAT customer service. The employees here are all so nice and so helpful and don't get annoyed if you ask for a sample (or two) They are also great at making suggestions if maybe the flavor you were looking for was not available that particular day. Ordered 45 kid cups for my son's birthday party and it was a hit! Chad was helpful in answering my questions. I chose 5 different flavors--Bada Bing Cherry, Big Daddy (tastes like Big Stick), Pina Colada, Chocolate and Da Bomb. The chocolate wasn't popular among the kids, but the rest were devoured. I had a hankering for something sweet so decided to check out Mustache Mike's as I've seen it in passing on several occasions. Upon entering, we were greeted by the cashier who was helpful and allowed us to sample a couple flavors, especially with it being our first time. I decided to get the "Mighty sized Miklati" of vanilla custard and their Manic Berry ice ($6.75) which is essentially their version of a medium. I like how the Mighty included two layers of both custard and ice. It was a delicious combination and perfect for a warm day. There is no indoor seating available but there is a side area with outdoor seating where you can enjoy your dessert. Parking was easy to find in the small strip mall as well. read more

Came in last night, there was a younger male and female working. Male grabs us our order while female is walking around I guess cleaning up, she takes her AirPod out of her ear and sets it down on the table next to where all the toppings are, which are uncovered. Holy Moly! This place is delicious and has an excellent choice of Italian Ice with or without custard. I'm allergic to Ice cream so this place is an amazing alternative. I received an ad in the mail for buy one, get one free for Mustache Mikes with delicious looking pictures of their Italian ice and miklati so we decided to give it a try. The shop is very small with no seating inside and a few stools out front. I was the only one inside and then a family of five came in and it got cramped fast. The employee was nice and quickly prepared my to-go order. I ordered a miklati with Juicy Rancher Italian ice (watermelon, lemon, and sour apple blend) and chocolate custard. The chocolate custard was very creamy and tasted absolutely delicious. The sour apple ice was just like a sour apple jolly rancher with a good mix of sweet and sour. The watermelon ice was good if you get a spoon of it with no other flavors and would probably be great on its own. The lemon flavor I didn't really get much of and the lemon and watermelon kind of washed each other out. The sour apple was definitely the star in this blend. She had a manic mango Italian ice which I also tasted. I got a little mango taste but it had more of a citrus orange flavor and it had a little creaminess. Overall, the chocolate custard was excellent and the Italian ice flavors we tried were ok. I would return again to try some other flavors. read more

Found this place on Yelp and SO glad we did!!! We ordered the Bubble Candy (cotton candy) it's not too sweet. We also got Da Bomb (reminds me of one of those bomb popsicles). Da Bomb was bit more sweeter. The texture is very smooth and not gritty. Imagine a thicker Slurpee from 7-eleven. They also have custard that you can add to the Italian ice. They have vanilla, chocolate or swirl. It's super refreshing and a huge hit with the kids. We will definitely be returning to try the different flavors. My boyfriend and I always see coupons for this place and haven't had the chance to go. We spontaneously went with friends last night and it did not disappoint! The two workers working there last night right away offered amazing and friendly service! They gave us samples to try and were so patient with us. The ambiance was simple but nice, I loved how it showed customers the flavors and what they could choose for their order. Definitely a gem if you like Italian ice. They have a bunch of unique combinations to choose from and they let you sample as well. I got the Sour Phucker because I usually like my Italian ice towards the sour side, and it did not disappoint. It had 3 different italian ice in it and I added custard on top- which I have mixed feelings about. Not that it's not good, just not sure it mixed well with the sour flavors. But overall, great place. Better than Joe's italian ice in Anaheim for sure. The Italian ice here is super smooth, which is the texture I like. I have passed this shop numerous times and finally had a chance to pay a visit to check out their Italian ice and custard. Since I have tried all the famous Italian ice and custards at other locations, I was curious to know what is so special about this place. It is a small shop with chairs outside and there were no line, which was nice to quickly get in and out. The staff was friendly and served fast. They had quite an interesting selection on the Italian ice and other options such as ice cream bars, cookie sando and frozen banana. It was very thoughtful for people who don't want to have Italian ice and/or custard. I ordered the Bada Bing Cherry with custard and my husband just got the Da Bomb. We both enjoyed them but didn't really find the wow factor. I was expecting real cherry chunks in the Italian ice but it was just the concentration of the cherry, which was a little bit of disappointment because it felt like a Hawaiian shaved ice. read more

Small shop with outdoor seating on the side. Overall pretty good! We got three minis with soft serve on the top and they were the perfect size. I tried all flavors and was nervous that the bubble candy would be too sweet, but it went well with the chocolate. Juicy rancher is definitely on the sour side. And the big daddy tastes very fruity and sweet, so I highly recommend adding soft serve to even out the flavors. Service was quick and no line on a Tuesday evening. I would still prefer Joe's over this place because the soft serve has a different taste at Joe's that I enjoy more but I can't really describe the difference if that makes sense. read more

We had to pay the shop a visit. Especially hearing the raving reviews on YL Buzz. When we got there, the kind lady who helped assist us was really informative. Let us sample flavors combined w the creamy ice cream that makes the combo a Milklati. My son got the Yummy Milklati Da bomb aka rocket Popsicle, bada bing cherry & Big Daddy aka Big Stick Popsicle. Those are one of the popular flavors. Highly recommended. Great for after school treat or just to get some yummy refreshments.
