I've frequented ATL plenty of times before and have tried many different places to eat, and I've been mostly underwhelmed. However, if I have time for a concourse D excursion, I'll make my way here to eat! They offer a decent menu and have all the meats. It's all very good, I got a pulled pork Mac and cheese and it was savory and super filling. I actually couldn't even finish mine. People that travel through Atlanta come to this spot for the wings! Period! Learn it! They never have wings. I have had brisket, brisket sandwich, pulled pork sandwich...all of which are good. The serve staff is the absolute worst. When I said thank you half a dozen times, the young lady turned her nose and kept walking. It's a simple Thank you! There are 8 tables and 11 barstools yet there is only 1 server and 2 bartenders. Maybe there needs to be a Management 101 class in someone's future. I travel through this airport 40+ weeks of the year. I have given them more than ample opportunity to figure it out. There are too many places to spend my time and money. Wow! We were pleasantly surprised by this barbecue restaurant located in terminal D of the Atlanta airport. We had about a two hour layover in Atlanta and found this wonderful barbecue restaurant. Our server was very friendly and definitely working very hard. She was the only one waiting on the tables in the restaurant while another woman was working behind the bar. I was a little bit worried about getting good service but she was very fast and efficient. My husband and I both ordered the brisket plate which was about $18. It came with two sides and bread. I ordered the potato salad and coleslaw with my entrée and both of them were very delicious. My husband ordered extra toast and macaroni and cheese, which were both very good. The brisket was tender and for the price we felt like we got a very large portion. As far as the barbecue sauce it was a perfectly matched with the Meat. I loved it so much. I put it on my potato salad too. My meal also came with delicious pickled onions. This restaurant was small yet clean and the service was absolutely fantastic. Both drinks were fine, definitely on the sweeter side. We also ordered the pork nachos which were good and the coleslaw and corn bread muffins. Bad food, high prices. Airport food is typically a bad experience and Mustard Seed BBQ followed suit. The serving sizes are small for what you pay. The Mac and cheese was noodles and kraft cheese- nothing to write home about. The pork bbq was extremely greasy and even appeared to be slimy. Even the southern sweet tea had a moldy aftertaste that I verified with my wife. This was a one-and-done experience for me. I love barbecue. But I made a fatal mistake. Ordering brisket outside of Texas. Service was a little slow at first. I wanted pulled pork. They were out. I wanted mac and cheese. They were out. I ordered brisket and pulled chicken. The brisket was disappointing. No bark, the smoke ring was small, and it wasn't cooked long enough to be tender. Update: The brisket sandwich (served with Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce in a cup) was actually quite good. The kids liked the Mac and cheese, but I thought it was bland and pasty. And Freddie (I'm guessing he was the manager)... While on a morning layover in Atlanta, stopped here for a drink. Only the bar was open for drinks and no food was being served in the morning which was perfectly ok with me. I could smell the BBQ being smoked in the back though. I bet the food is delicious. The bartender was extremely friendly and she took care of me immediately. She was on point and ran that bar in a fast and very efficient manner. A few men walked up wanting certain draft beers but they were out of a few of them. The bartender knew what she was out of and rattled off what they had. A friendly face and demeanor in the early morning is always refreshing and nice. The customer service was average at best. The staff seemed as though they don't want to be there and not really interested in serving you. The food, well it's BBQ. Not horrible, but not great. I get drinks here at the ATL airport. But they seem to always be out of certain food options. I have never had the food but it looks great. Service is meh. They don't really care if you're there or not, they will make money. You can usually find a spot at the bar. Which is great! But then you will wait on the bartender who is not particularly "fast". I visited on 8 Sept on a layover to see family in Virginia. I generally prefer family-owned restaurants because you can taste the care and love they put in the food (admittedly, not always). Chains tend to taste a lot alike and very much like Sysco-supplied ingredients. I did not have high expectations of Airport Food in any case. Early in the dinner hour, they were already out of salads, deviled eggs, and the pickle plate. I ordered the two-meat plate (ribs and brisket) with two sides of green beans (other sides included carbs and cole slaw). The ribs were disappointing, even with my low expectations. The portion was larger than I expected on a combo plate, but it was an end piece: half was virtually jerky meat. The tender bits were nice. The brisket was juicy and tender, but lacked a smoky or beefy flavor. There was no pull in the texture of the meat. I'm from Texas and you can't fool me with no beef brisket. This came from an oven. The sauce was served properly: on the side! But, it was cold, which means you can taste it only well enough to know it is BBQ sauce, but not well enough to appreciate the flavors. It could have been bottled sauce for all I could taste. The braised green beans were very tender with good flavor, but the bacon pieces were identical to one another, meaning they were processed bits rather than honest bacon. The service was tired: one waitress for all the tables, explaining the same menu choices over and over and over again in a high-turnover environment. Ugh. But she also gave what she got. Busy, distracted travellers got prompt but lackluster service. Cheerful, present people got more attention and smiles. Think about giving your server a break and be the type of customer that you'd want to serve. read more
