Huge markup on 24x24" aggregate pavers. If you don't like paying 50%+ markup over competing vendors or you actually want service, shop elsewhere. Home Depot used to carry Mutual Materials 24x24" aggregate pavers. Recently all HD inventory shows no stock at any store within 100 miles. Called Mutual Materials toll free and confirmed that I could buy directly from the yard in Bellevue. Drove 50 minutes to the yard. Inside the yard, unfriendly staff will bark, "knock on the window for help...not that window the other window." I went to pay for 10 pavers and decided to confirm pricing. Glad I did because they charge $26 per paver for the same item they retail at Home Depot for $15.99. No offer to help load or service of any kind, just wham bam give me my markup man! I asked the cashier to explain why the manufacturer would charge $10 more per unit for an item they were selling through an authorized vendor (including shipping/handling).Their response- "That's Home Depot's pricing. Here you pay our price." Ironically, there is a Home Depot 100 yards from this location! With nothing to lose, I walked to the Home Depot and they had pallets of the same Mutual Materials pavers even though their website is still showing no stock. I was impressed with the selection of steps and other hardscape materials in their show room but will be reluctant to buy from them on the assumption that they have marked up all of their materials for suckers walking through the door. read more

While returning a few pallets to Mutual Materials in Auburn, WA, I had the wonderful experience of getting assistance from Dan Beavers. Dan was thoughtful, pro-active, professional, and friendly. CAREFUL with this company, the contractor u hire and u PAY in full, Mutual Materials will lien ur property. even thou u paid for ur project until they get paid from that contractor. The credit they allow the contractor is guaranteed by ur property!!!!!!!!! This is unfair to home owners.They need to protect themselves from contractor, NOT the innocent home owner.. Hopefully never have to use MM again. Have to worry about shaddy unethical contractors, now project materials companies. Working folks that pay their bills, getting screwed everywhere. I am surprised that this store does not support return even the goods are completely new. When I bought the stones, it's hard to predict how many I need. No one and no sign tells me this no return policy. If I was told this no return policy, I wouldn't buy that many at the very beginning. I just want others know this in case you Mike the same mistake. I would recommend this store to put clear sign for that no return policy. read more

Questionable business practices - I would stay away.. Full order was significantly different in price than written quote. Quote included samples, so they was very little confusion on our side. Once there, the salesman (Nick Lobo) claimed the quote was for another brick, with holes. Since the quote had attached samples with no holes, this seems like somewhat of a bait and switch tactic. Moved rest of order to another provider and filed a claim with the state BBB and King Co. Let see what happens next. In the meantime, I would seriously avoid this place.. read more

This company is a top-notch founding company who does well by its bottom line. The 3 star provided is for their contracted HR team - excluding Paul who has always been kind informative and empathetic. With that being said, their senior HR Erin is just the opposite. Poor communication written and verbally on all levels. Although auto enroll in healthcare is a privilege that the company can use to protect their employees at their own discretion, It is imperative to go beyond verbal notice and tiny little postcard notes in the mail, but to go the extra mile and support those who may not be able to retain this communication as a whole and provide thorough written communication ( healthcare packet )* which includes what the employee is paying for and what type of coverage they are paying for and proper steps they need to take in order to lead their families. One phone call a couple of days prior to auto enrolling is not acceptable. HR should be refined in the skill of communicating and dealing with employee's families, and not brushing off employees needs for additional support. The experience my family and I have had with Erin over the last 3 years has been horrible and unfortunate. Thank God for Paul. Thank God the owners are good to their bottom line or else the example from the ivory tower would be less than Stellar. read more

Mutual Materials closes at 5 and are not open on weekends. (At least Saturday would help) So order more than you need. But keep in mind, no full refund on clean returns. Friendly staff, but not the most customer friendly hours. read more

I was planning to buy blocks for a retaining wall from Lowes or Home Depot, when a friend mentioned mutual materials. I stopped by the Mukilteo branch to look at what they had, and the friendly person behind the counter mentioned their "Bargain Alley" where their discontinued or nonstock materials are. I found the perfect block but there wasn't enough there, so they called around and tracked down enough for me to do my job. Just by mentioning the bargain alley stock saved me at least $250 from buying regular stocked items. Very happy with their service. read more

I did not get the help I needed, and the employee's I spoke with were not at all helpful and were rude to top it off. I had a big project I needed supplies for and I could not get any prices or information so I went elsewhere. You as a company may want to retrain your employees and teach them how to speak to people because I did witness one lady talk pretty disrespectfully to some customers. read more

Returned pallets for credit, this was the only good experience with this entire process, yard staff were helpful, off loaded the pallets (20ea) in a timely manor. Four (4) weeks later still waiting for the credit, tried calling, just get the main office even when calling the Bellevue office. I have been transferred to the Bellevue office from the main office five times so without reaching a person. Left message(s) to call back, no call back. On one transferred call someone from the Bellevue branch picked up the phone and then immediately hung up on me. Looks like I'm going back to Home Depot for my paver and brick needs! read more

A friend of ours recommend Mutual Materials for Porcelain pavers. So we visited the Bellevue location (closest to our home in Bothell). Customer service was good, however, we found out later that the team did not have an educated knowledge on pavers more specifically, porcelain slabs. However, we knew the pavers we wanted and ended up placing an order for 210 slabs at $23.98 per piece with delivery included for two pallets or more. For 210 slabs, we would have three pallets total which would include delivery costs as stated by both Shawn (when we visited the store and were given a sample of the slab) and by Nick (when we called later to order the slabs as Shawn was out sick that day). Once the order was at the store, we were called for payment and delivery details. When I called back and spoke with Brandon, i was quoted a cost of $24.77 per piece to include delivery costs. When i mentioned that 210 pavers would be 3 pallets and I was quoted free delivery and cost per piece at $23.98, i was told that i was misquoted and that the new quote was $24.77 per piece. I was livid as that was out of our budget and something we had not budgeted for. I was given the worst customer service on this by Brandon and was treated as someone who didn't know what i was talking about. At this point, we were stuck as my backyard was prepped and ready for the pavers and, so I ended up purchasing them at the new cost of $24.77 per piece. The delivery came the very next day by a very sweet and kind truck driver who provided excellent customer service. Now, as we started installing the pavers we are noticing two pallets that were delivered with the Seastone Grey Slabs we had ordered and match the sample that we were given at the store, but the 3rd pallet the color is a lighter more green shade of color. The first two pallets are product of Italy and the color we had agreed on from Italy and consistent with the sample we were given at the store. The 3rd pallet is product of USA and not the color we agreed on and not consistent with the sample we were given while at the store. At this point, we don't know what to do as we feel we are stuck with the mismatched pavers and at the cost I never agreed to. We paid nearly $6,000 for something we are not entirely happy with and feel that there's nothing that can be done about it by the store. We were planning on going back to buy stones for retaining wall and some other types of stones for flower beds, etc. However, we will never return to any Mutual Materials locations nor will we recommend this company to anyone. The worst customer service I've ever had. I ordered materials for fireplaces, they told me the delivery will be in three days. the day before the delivery someone called me and told me that the inventory on the computer doesn't match the physical inventory. I said well, why didn't you bother to check when I made the order and what inventory do you have? Well I need to make a couple of phone calls he says the next morning, I'm so sorry but we can deliver that in two weeks for an additional charge. I've had it with those people. I will definitely be buying my stones elsewhere. read more

The worst customer service, First off delivery: Don't count on these people to get it right. They will make countless excuses I.E: we're very busy, we fail to communicate between departments, and my favorite "we're humans and we make mistakes" Direct quote "Thomson" 1. Be proactive Or you will be calling their 866 customers service line. Where they will say " not our problem" call the store " we need to hear from them before we can help you. 2. Do a physical count as I did upon delivery as I did. Only to be told I was wrong. "CUSTOMER SERVICE" Where in fact 9 days later I found out that I was missing 168 pcs. An entire pallet. One excuse after another... My favorite response to my missing blocks "let me check are inventory" Turns out I was right from the first of three deliveries. $6200.00 ORDER. NOT A SMALL ORDER. 3. Scheduling an order for delivery: There system has an "override" my order was large "14 pallets" We did not have room for all of this material at once with the blocks, sand, gravel, and washed rock for drainage. So I thought let's break this up into 2 deliveries 2 weeks apart. "Don't count on that" THEY BROUGHT THE SECOND DELIVERY 6 DAYS LATER ON A HOLIDAY. Jamed my driveway up so that my wife couldn't back out of the garage until the contractor came back to unload those blocking pallets. "Here's where the driver set a pallet on a sprinkler head and destroyed it, Same driver left a pallet behind because counting to 6 was to difficult for him. "Back to customer service" not their problem call the store. 3. Called management. Here's "Thomason" we didn't forget a pallet.?? The drivers are trailed to make sure these errors don't happen. But they did. I asked to speak to his boss "Marty" general manager of "Bellevue" store. He confirmed that after our conversation that he discovered many errors Were made and apologized for the delays damage to the property. Customer service responses and general disgust of this situation. HE OFFERED $350.00 IN CREDIT... And assured me things would improve. 4. Not the case. Absolutely a false statement. We went to purchase additional pieces to compete our project. About 300pcs. I placed the new order, but couldn't pay for them at 6hat time "there system was down, or closed out" was asked to call back the Next morning. So I did 9 times all you get is a voice mail that says leave a message. So, I did twice!! They'll call you back... They did not. The original order was over 2000 pcs. There's more problems that I can share ,but I believe you get the idea. I believe that this is one of the worst companies to work with, next to Comcast. P.S. If you purchase through home depot you will save a considerably discount as I found out afterwards. In my case $557.67. I paid over $6300.00 in product. Much much more in labor for installation. Point is be careful, be proactive. read more

I Went to the Mutual Materials on 29th SW in Tumwater and witnessed the worst customer service skills I have ever seen. The woman at the counter kept her head down thumbing through paperwork, as the customers stood there waiting for some kind of eye contact. She did not acknowledge any of us waiting in front of the counter. For example, saying " I will be right with you or one moment" etc... While ignoring the customers in front of her she was hollowing and bantering with a man in one of the office across the room, like she was working at a Full Throttle tavern. I just could not believe it, completely classless, tacky and no people skills whatsoever. I will never walk into that company again. read more
