    Menu 4/2026

Somehow, we ended up in Chinatown around 9 pm, and my friends thought of this hole-in-the-wall spot for a bowl of pho to warm us up. Surprisingly, most of the tables were occupied. We grabbed the last table that fit the 4 of us and started perusing the extensive menu. Waitstaff was efficient and accommodating. ***OUR PICKS*** VIETNAMESE SHRIMP ROLLS (2) ~ They used 1 1/2 shrimp per roll by cutting a shrimp in half. Each roll contained only noodles, lettuce, mint, bean sprouts, and shrimp. Usually in a spring roll, you'll get pickled daikon, carrots, and cucumbers. The only flavor you'll get is from the sweet hoisin & peanut dipping sauce. Pretty expensive when each roll is $5, and it's missing some key ingredients like pickled vegetables for flavor. 2/5 CHICKEN PHO (PHÓ GÀ) ~ My friend and I shared this bowl. Little did we know, it was going to be very small. I noticed it was barely a handful of noodles and onions with some shredded chicken, while I dished out 2 bowls for sharing. At least the chicken was dark meat, so it was tender. Glad I wasn't starving! 3/5 SPECIAL NOODLE SOUP (PHÓ ÐǍC BIÊT) ~ My other 2 friends shared this bowl of noodle soup. They had more meat, but just the same amount of noodles as ours. The broth lacked depth. 3/5 IMO, they're lucky to be in Chinatown with very little competition compared to Sunset or Richmond District. Prices are quite high for the amount of food that you get. If we were hungry, even a bowl per person would not be sufficient. Food quantity, foodquality, & atmosphere are 2.5 stars. I rounded up to 3 for the service we were given.

Hole in the wall in Chinatown. Simple menu. They have a bit of everything which I like, not too many options. Got the pho dac biet $15 and beef stew ho fun $16. Tea is an additional $1, credit card is another $1. The pho was one of the best I've had in the city. Simple and clean but really flavorful. I wish the beef stew ho fun had more tomato flavor but it was still good. Service is fast and food came out in 5 minutes. I'd come back to try other dishes

*Note: I visited on Jan 26, 2025 -- this review sat in my drafts. The place appears to have been sold since, so take this with a grain of salt.* A friend who used to frequent this place years ago suggested I try this place. She raved about their banh canh cua. We stopped by for lunch after walking around Chinatown. The restaurant wasn't busy and the staff were friendly. We each ordered a bun: five-spice BBQ chicken with rice noodles and grilled beef with rice noodles. Unfortunately the meat in both dishes was overly salty for our taste. The bill was confusing - we couldn't tell how they arrived at the total (automatic gratuity, rounding, or SF-mandated fees?), but we paid and left. Cash only.

Went in for lunch on a thursday. Staff was very friendly. Food came out quick. The broth was good. The quality of meat in the soup was not.

My friends and I came to Chinatown to do some shopping, saw the grand opening sign and decided to try it. There was a large group already there, sitting in different tables because the restaurant is pretty small. The restroom is located at the end of the kitchen and it's also small. There's a bucket of dirty water with a mop in it at the corner of the restroom, making it even smaller. The menu has good selection of pho and dry rice noodle/rice dishes. I ordered the combo pho and my friend ordered the grilled beef with spring roll noodle plate. The server came to take our order quickly and we got our food shortly. My pho was decent size. I'm glad that I didn't get the large size. There were several beef meatballs, tripe and beef. I wish there was more meat though. The soup has good beef flavor but little too salty for my taste. My friend thought her dish was ok.

    Singles meetup?

It's was a warm day today and I didn't want to cook or eat anything too heavy, so decided to order some banh mi sandwiches from here. I ordered two - one grilled beef and grilled pork. The bread was definitely a highlight. It had that nice crisp exterior with a soft interior that you want in a good bánh mì. The sandwiches were enjoyable overall, but I did find the meat a bit light in flavor. I was especially hoping for more of that smoky, charred grill taste, which was missing for me. That said, it is still a good, satisfying sandwich, just not one that fully stands out compared to the other Vietnamese restaurants that closed down from a few stores down. The space itself is quaint and no frills, but it appeared clean and comfortable. It has that old school, casual Vietnamese restaurant feel that a lot of locals seem to appreciate. Service was a bit mixed. The waitress who took my order was pretty matter of fact, but another staff member really stood out. She was warm and attentive, offered me water while I was waiting, and even said goodbye when I left. That small gesture honestly made the experience feel more welcoming and is what pushed my rating up. Also, I noticed a sign about a singles meetup happening there, which I thought was kind of unexpected and interesting. Overall, I would say it is closer to a 3.5, but rounding up to 4 because of the pleasant overall experience and that extra touch of hospitality.

Came here for lunch and got: (7/10) Small Special House Pho - I really appreciate them having 4 sizes of pho since I always feel bad for never finishing it, I enjoyed the broth and there was a variety of meat including tripe, flank, etc. Vietnamese Shrimp Roll (6.5/10) Vietnamese Shrimp Roll - Sauce was good, although the shrimp wasn't properly peeled as I found a piece of exoskeleton still. The place was empty when I first got there but the workers were welcoming. The workers also packed up my leftovers, although I had to wait a bit because the workers were all on the back. The interior is a bit dingy. They also have a 10% for sf residents and also was able to use my credit card here. I spent $23 total including tax and tip. I am a bit confused about their grand opening sign since it seems like they've been around for years now, but the owner seems like they are open to feedback. Chinatown and north beach don't have too many Vietnamese restaurants so this place can be convenient and reasonably priced.

Went here with classmates for a quick lunch. We ordered different things and shared. We ordered a fried rice dish, fried noodles, and spring roll with shrimp and bun-cold noodle vermicelli with bbq pork...and Vietnamese ice coffee. Everything was tasty and authentic.

Service was very friendly, owner came to talk to us about how she acquired the restaurant, n how she wanted to help the children since the parents were gone. Portion was good sized, n prices were the cheapest in the area. Flavor of pho soup was good.

We've heard about the lines and how it sells out quick as well, so we came for a late lunch at 2:30pm. The line didn't look too bad at first until I learned that there are only 11 seats exactly inside and only 2 people running the whole show. Having eaten nothing yet, this two and a half hour line did a number on us. We were so hungry that I left the line to quickly pick up some takoyaki to snack on while we waited. Once you finally get to the front, you order at the kiosk and everything is entirely self-serviced from getting seated to picking up your order. When we finally got our food, we were disappointed by how broken our soba was and how many clumps we found as well. The soba itself was also mediocre and not worth the hype. I got the scallop kakiage and while it was good some pieces were undercooked like my eggplant and that was really hard to eat. The food wasn't terrible, but not great and definitely not worth the wait and hassle. A pass for me :(

My only real complaint was the seating arrangement. My wife and I were seated at a shared counter-style table that was divided by a glass partition. I personally prefer a little more privacy while dining, so that took away from the experience. I won't comment on the wait time because that's pretty normal for popular restaurants in San Francisco. The highlight of the meal was definitely the A5 Wagyu Ramen. It was absolutely delicious and worth ordering. The flavors were amazing, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting. I've been to plenty of Japanese/Ramen spots and I've been running into the issue where I say I have a soy allegry and there is an assumption that I have a gluten issue (I do not have a gluten issue). I noticed yelp said they have soy-free options and thus called on Friday thinking it might be a bad idea as they're usually busy.. It was just so good and flavorful. The soup dumplings were amazing. So much perfect flavor. They held together until the bite. So good. The hot and sour soup was plenty tasty. Not the best I've ever had but certainly among the best. The only thing I will say is that one of my companions can't have seaweed. The wonton soup was amazing but full of seaweed. All she could do was have a tiny spoon of the broth to taste it. The green onion pancake was very good. The red bean paste pockets use the same dough but filled with sweet red bean paste. They were a perfect way to end the meal. Next time I'm in the city I will visit again. Loved it all. It was worth taking the time to visit and eat there.

If you're not able to squeeze into the first wave, the wait is upwards of 2 hours! FOOD: We ordered one galbi jim with extra noodles and rice cakes and a separate garlic noodles for a party of 5. While we initially thought we could finish two galbi jims, our server cautioned us against it, referencing the healthy portion size. We were glad we took her advice because everyone was stuffed by the end of our meal. Their galbi jim was flavorful, with extremely tender beef and chewy rice cakes. We ordered the lowest level of spiciness and while there was still a kick, it was extremely manageable. SERVICE: We were the first to be seated and our galbi jim took almost 20 minutes to come out while others waited even longer. However, they comped our garlic noodles and apologized for turning waits. Overall, I'd definitely return if I'm able to get into the first wave of seating.

Came here on a Friday night at 7:30. Had to wait about 30-40 min for 2 seats. The restaurant is…read moresmall so unless you have a 4-6 person party, expect to be seated side by side other parties. Typically what I saw was they do waves of seating and ordering so if you aren't there right at open/when they fill up, plan to write your name down and grab a drink nearby. Once we got seated, they were pretty prompt to give us utensils, napkins, cups, and water. The two of us shared the Braise Beef Galbi Stew. It's more than enough for 2 people to go home in food comas (with some food remaining) and for 3 to be sufficiently full. If you have big eaters, order an app alongside if you have 3 people. The Galbi stew was exceptional. I liked that they had various levels of spiciness. We went with spicy and it had a nice kick that elevated the dish for me. The beef was very tender and flavorful and the veggies and rice cakes soaked up all the juices. And the cheese was so stretchy! I'd actually rank this place slightly above Daeho given the shorter wait, the quality, and the price. I'll be back for sure.
