    Chicken Khao soi
    Christina L.

Khao soi is delicious! The item is a Thailand noodle dish, with either soup or dry sauce. Do not wait for the ramen next door, just come here to get your soup. Although ate there for a dinner, there is a really awesome lunch special available (I don't think lunch is available anymore). The Khao soi was delicious and was not salty. Love the variety of items. In addition, the employee was helpful and quick. The space was clean. Overall, speciality Thai food with a lot of value and I would come back for the deserts too.

While visiting SF last week we stopped by this restaurant for some Ramen. The waiter was welcoming and attentive. The place was very cozy and decorative which I loved. We ordered the Khao-soi chicken ramen. I had it with the egg noodles and my friend had with the Udon noodles. The dish was a nice amount. The flavor was robust. One thing I noticed the curry sauce was very rich and thick. Which for a Thai coconut soup is amazing but many were referring to it as ramen. They are both fundamentally different. I would definitely the dish again. Its great as a shared dish as well since its alot!

My absolute favorite Thai dish is Khao Soi and to have a restaurant dedicated to just one dish it amazeballs! :) we ordered the chicken Khao Soi, pork skewers and gyoza and for dessert the mango sticky rice and ube sundae. The Khao Soi presentation with all the toppings was stunning! I would have given it a 5 but it wasn't hot enough for me, as in temperature. The stand out appetizer was the pork skewers and dessert was the mango sticky rice. Small interiors but I love the bold and bright aesthetic. Staff were great. Not many interior tables so get there early to avoid a wait.

This place was absolutely delicious -- I personally have been trying to find an authentic, rich tasting khao soi, and this is now my go to place. As someone who has been back to Thailand, this has been one of the only places that compares flavor-wise to the ones back in Thailand! It is an extremely decadent soup base, with egg noodles and a protein option. I tried the chicken khao soi and it was DELICIOUS. Genuinely went silent with the first couple of bites. There is also the option of adding a sweet coconut cream, pickled mustard greens, onions, & chili crisps. I personally loved the addition of the mustard greens alongside the lime. It really brightened the dish and the owner offered to add any of these sides. The thai tea was a tad too sweet for me, but the owner recommended it as it was traditional -- def a good in between sip during the meal to balance out the richness of the khao soi. We also got the mango sticky rice and it had such a good chew to it! It was so yummy!! We also got the ube ube and this alone we would go back for. This was sooooo good and had such a strong ube flavor, as the base was an ube ice cream with ube drizzle; there was also nata de coco which is my absolute favorite! The red bean paired perfectly with the ube, and you can tell this was a well thought out dessert. We had excellent service and the owner explained to us how traditional food from Thailand was -- thank you for taking care of us! :) Absolutely loved this place and it was so good: will definitely be a regular for when I'm craving khao soi! I'm waiting for the menu to expand, as they've only been open for two months (please add a duck khao soi)

We found this place on Yelp right next to Mensho Ramen, and everyone waiting in the Mensho line seriously has no idea what they're missing!! Such a hidden gem! For dinner they were serving only Khao Soi, which is one of my favorite dishes ever so I was immediately excited. The owner was actually there and took such great care of us, explaining the menu, all the toppings and sides, and even bringing extra sides when we asked because they were SO good. We tried the chicken, beef, and tofu Khao Soi, and every single one was amazing. Portions are really big and come with lots of sides. The egg noodles were perfectly chewy, and the curry broth was rich, coconutty, flavorful, and insanely comforting. Their chili oil is also made in-house and packed with flavor! We also got Thai iced tea, and the owner recommended ordering it sweet because that's how it's traditionally served in Thailand. It was a little too sweet for me personally, so next time I'd probably ask for less sweet, but honestly it was the perfect refreshing sip between bites of the Khao Soi! To end, we got mango sticky rice which came in such a gorgeous presentation. The sticky rice texture was perfect and the mangoes were super juicy and fresh. The owner also surprised us with a free dessert on the house!! It was their popular "Ube Ube" dessert with ube ice cream, nata de coco, red bean, ube sauce, and tons of toppings that he explained to us one by one. I genuinely cannot believe this place isn't more popular yet. Everything felt so thoughtful, warm, and delicious. This is 100% going to become my new go-to spot. RUN and try it before the lines get insane because wow... I was seriously so impressed and will be back.

I think it's best to just come here for the khao soi and the mango sticky rice. The flavors are rich and pleasantly presented in these dishes. We got the beef khao soi and it tastes like a light laksa. Very creamy, sweet, and slightly spiced. The mango sticky rice had chewy warm purple sticky rice that was a nice contrast to the cooler mango. Do not get their thai chicken wings. It's airfried but whatever coating they use just turn the chicken spongey and it's just coated in the typical chili dipping sauce. And their bananas foster was just a soupy mess when you pour it out of the cup. The bananas could be more caramelized. Not a great iteration of the dish. Service was friendly but they just need to work on tweaking some of the weaker recipes and this place could be good.

This place is genuinely one of the best Thai restaurants I have been to. The service is top tier and the food is so delicious. Do not skip out on the mango sticky rice if you stop by it's so good. The ambiance and vibe is nice and peaceful yet elegant. Definitely somewhere you can go for a nice night out or just a casual dinner as well!

We had such a great birthday dinner here. The employees are so nice ! We got the traditional Khao Soi dry with beef and one with soup and chicken.

My group and I actually wanted to try the restaurant next door but since the line was sooo long, we decided to settle here since we were short on time. We each ordered the khao soi with different proteins and also got an order of the Lao style papaya salad. It arrived within 15 minutes. As soon as we took a bite, I nearly had to spit it out because it was soooo damn salty and drenched in fish sauce. I'm sure the head waiter saw my face and rushed over, trying to explain to us that that's how traditional Lao style is. After some explaining and apology to which he said the new guy that took our order was supposed to explain to us that's how the dish is. Granted, I have not had Lao food before but my bf has had it and there's no way in hell it's that salty. I felt like I had eaten a tablespoon of straight up salt. All of our Khao Sois finally arrived after over 50 minutes of waiting. By that point we had less than 10 minutes to eat. The flavor of the curry was petty good but the fact that it took that long and we had to rush through our meals, ruined our experience.

    Ube lover

My latest obsession!! Food is fantastic, with top-notch ingredients. Services are welcoming and super accommodating (I have never adjusted the sweetness of Thai iced tea before). The ambiance is great for a casual date night, especially since their dessert is Devine! If you like noodles (ramen), definitely come try out this place. Curry noodle with a lot of twists, every bite feels like a new journey. I ordered Khao-Soi Shrimp, it came with 6,7 tiger prawns, and each one of them had salmon caviar on top of it. On top of that, it came with 6 side dishes that I can add in throughout my slurping session. I was so full after the Khao-Soi, but the lady insisted that I should try the dessert, so she made me a free sample of the Ube Lover. It was DELICIOUS! I will definitely come back to this place with more friends. If you are in the neighborhood, don't miss out! 最近吃过最有创意的泰餐,泰式拉面吧。一碗面6,7只开背老虎虾,很新鲜。 每只虾还有三文鱼籽。老板娘超级热情,还附赠了我一个小份的甜点。肯定会再来的。

I stop by for dessert " Croissant Nuttella banana " and Thai ice tea here, Wanjai Coco, Khao Soi Salmon and caviar is the best.

The restaurant can be a little hidden, but it's pretty easy to find with the instructions they send before your reservation. It's located above Fermentation Lab. Just head up the stairs and you'll find it inside the old Ichi Pub space. The restaurant is small and intimate, with only 9 seats at the counter. When you arrive, walk through the Yuji curtain and check in directly with the chef since there is no host. My biggest concern with set menus is always whether I'll feel satisfied and full afterward, but that was definitely not an issue here. My husband and I were both very satisfied after the meal. Every dish was delicious, and you could really taste the quality of each ingredient. Highlights for me were the bluefin sashimi, which was so buttery and soft that it literally melted in your mouth. The skillfish was rich and decadent, and the citrus and ginger balanced the flavors. The fried fish was another favorite as it reminded me of the savory Japanese rice crackers I loved growing up. Since it's located in Japantown, parking can be challenging. We had to loop around several times looking for street parking and even had two cars take spots we were waiting for, so definitely give yourself extra time before your reservation. I would highly recommend this place! The chef changes the menu periodically based on what's in season, so it's a great excuse to come back and try something new in the future. Hinodeya is a mainstay at this point. It's likely not even exciting to the locals, and nobody makes a special trip for them. There are multiple locations all over the city, and the Japantown one is one of the nicer locations with outside seating that isn't super crammed. They have a lot of different broth options here, but the shop is mainly known for their dashi (light seafood based) broth, and it is actually quite good with a lot of umami and freshness. really cute spot right in the heart of Japantown…read more everything that was served was delicious. drinks were refreshing and well made. the apple honey smokey rice was just strong enough with a satisfying sweet aftertaste. the lemongrass pandan was well balanced, the pandan was not overpowering, and very light. the highlights of the meal were the crispy rice in the fermented beef salad, the crab legs in the curry sauce, and the fermented apple in the duck leg Khao Soi. the one thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the red onion in the cheesecake dessert: it combined well but was not my preference for a sweet item. one hiccup is that although our reservation was set for a la carte, they assumed we were doing a tasting menu, and thus we waited for an extended period of time before we were served at all. waiters also assumed that my brother and i were partners, despite me listing in the reservation that we were celebrating his birthday, which is an awkward and offensive assumption to make. 7.5/10

We decided to explore the nearby area and found this Thai restaurant with outdoor seating, which was perfect for us and our dog. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the menu was intriguing. We ordered the Thai spicy egg noodle soup, green papaya salad, and Thai drunken noodles with seafood. Each dish was delicious, but the spicy noodle soup stood out as our favorite--one of the best noodle soups we've had in a while. To conclude our meal, we ordered the Thai coconut milk dessert, Ka-nom-tuay, served in a little porcelain cup. It was equally delightful. My husband and I were so impressed with the food that we're already planning our next visit. Highly recommended!
