This restaurant is located within the Brookview Manor Inn. The cocktails were delicious and refreshing - I had the oasis which was essentially a Malibu bay breeze with peach schnapps. My husband had the snowball which he thoroughly enjoyed. Highly recommend both. They only have a few bottled beers but had many wines to choose from. We went with the special soup of the day which was a tomato soup with rice --- it was to die for! For our entrees, I went with the blue salmon which came with a baked potato and veggie of the day (creamed spinach with feta cheese). My husband opted for the pork tenderloin. He doesn't like spinach so they accommodated that by offering a different veggie (broccoli or green beans). My husband was very happy and raved about the broccoli and said the pork tenderloin was the best he ever had. For dessert, we went with the brownie towers, which came out kind of hard. The waitress (Jeannie) apologized and even brought us out another piece. It's a very relaxed atmosphere. We sat on the porch, it was really nice. The only thing I can recommend was maybe adding light dinner music to enhance the experience. What's not to like? Let's start with ambience. Romantic, home setting, lace curtains, curved windows, cozy fireplaces, sparkly chandeliers, dining "rooms", as in many first floor rooms of a home, adapted to eating. There's an inviting small bar, with light coming in from the heated/screened porch, open in the warmer months, with a looming forest of huge white pines. There's even a huge aquarium with an ancient vivacious male terrapin. Oh, and don't forget the also equally vivacious, loquacious, jocular, waitperson, Jeanie. We call her Hilary. Why? I had read mostly good reviews about this restaurant, so we chose to dine here on the last of our vacation in the Poconos, even though it was a good distance from where we were staying. My husband and I must have hit this place on a really bad night, our experience was not good at all. We came on a Friday evening, with a six o'clock reservation, and our dinner went until eight, with no drinks, coffee, or dessert. There was only one very friendly waitress who was quite unavailable, because she was handling the whole place by herself. To say the least, the service from start to finish, was nominal, with a long wait for our appetizers, dinner, and we even waited some time for our check. A bigger problem than the poor service, was the quality of the food we were served. I ordered fried calamari, which was terrible. It was fried for so long that that the outside was hard, and way too crunchy. Consequently, the calamari inside was dried out, much of it had cooked down to nothing. What did remain was barely visible, was tough and chewy. The waitress never came to check to see if we were enjoying our appetizers, so I could not send it back. I told her as she simultaneously cleared away the appetizers with one hand, and served our dinners with the other. She apologized, and offered to have the calamari done over, but I asked her to take it off our bill, since I had my dinner in front of me. I ordered the beef tenderloin, which I heard her tell another customer later, could have been served with my choice of mushrooms, blue cheese, or onion strings, or any combination there of. I wish she had asked me what I wanted, I forgot after she told us all of the specials of the night. I ordered my meat-medium rare, but it came out medium-well, with very little pink. I did not say anything, because I had complained about the calamari earlier, and the steak was tender enough, with a nice flavor. My baked potato was not fresh from the oven, it had been re-heated, was very dry and not even hot enough to melt the butter. My husband said he liked his appetizer of Fresh Fig and Goat Cheese Wrapped in Prosciutto, but the Summer Chicken Parmesan he ordered for dinner was disappointing. He felt the chicken could have been juicier and more tender, and there was not much spaghetti served with it. When the waitress hastily came over to ask us how we liked our meal, we told her it was fine, but honestly, it was not great at all. We skipped coffee and dessert, because our dinner experience had not been anything to linger over. Terrible. Absolutely terrible. We visited this establishment and thought it was adorable! The ambiance was great, super cozy and in a secluded location. This would be the one and only good thing about it. When we arrived we were 'greeted' by someone who was clearly less than welcoming. She wanted us to wait in the small reception area but we asked if we could sit at the bar and have a drink while we waited for our table. She said yes, and pointed us toward the bar. After being at the bar for a few minutes I helped myself to a glass of water because nobody was interested in helping me. Then, a kind waitress finally asked us if we would like a drink. When we ordered.. the owner/manager woman pulled her away from us, talked down to her, degraded her and wouldn't allow her to get us a drink. She returned 10-15 minutes later and took our drink order which she didn't know how to make, or find.. but the drinks were suprisingly OK. Then, we were finally sat at a table.. after we carried our own menus and drinks there. We finally got to order food. We had the prime rib and New York strip daily steak special with potato and vegetable. We also had an appetizer, the eggplant margarite. The appetizer was good however, not really what we expected. It was delicious fried eggplant topped with cubed up tomatoes and what seemed to be shredded Kraft mozzarella cheese. On to the entree.. the steak was alright - lacked flavor but for $30 for a prime rib I wasn't expecting it to be amazing. The potatoes were absolutely disgusting. The califlour mash was good however, the mixed vegetables were less than recognizable and tasted absolutely terrible. We had our steaks topped with frizzled onions and mushrooms - that was very good.. the steak just lacked flavor. And, our waitress never asked us how it was once we got our food. Then dessert. We ordered cream puffs and lemoncello. The cream puffs were store bought and frozen solid. The kind you get at the supermarket that come in a plastic tub - frozen solid. The lemoncello was less than par - but not awful. When we were finished we had to ask for our check after waiting an extended period of time - with no offered drink refills. Once we got it, we put our card in the book and waited. Waited. Waited. We had now been in this resturaunt for three hours. The waitress was setting tables in our vicinity and simply ignored us, not taking our payment. So, we left. We tried to pay but really were tired of being ignored. Once in the parking lot the waitress, owner and a kitchen worked came running after us (apparently now they wanted our money, despite the fact they didn't want it before.) I stopped the car, opened the window and offered to pay.. again. I paid them in cash to satisfy the bill along with the tip we left on the table. The owner then proceeded to yell at us saying that we were the only dissatisfied customers and if we had a problem we should have told her prior to leaving. She then tried to reimburse me for the cream puffs - I told her to give the money to the waitress she treats like crap because she tried her best. I still cannot believe the absolutely horrible experience we had at the establishment. I do not recommend it and will absolutely never return. Terrible service, food was not great, the owner is extremely rude to her staff and customers. read more

A true hidden gem in the Poconos. We were staying in a little cabin down the road and wanted a nice dinner. We consulted Yelp, but I guess a lot of the residents don't use Yelp (as this is the first review!). After looking at the menu, which sounded amazing, we called to make a reservation. My Daughter's Place is located on the backside of a cute B&B. Everyone who works here is so friendly... maybe even too friendly. The mom was our hostess, the dad is the chef, a nice woman was our server, and the daughter was also around to help. We ordered the white french onion soup (delicious, and never had anything like it before) and summer salad to start. The strawberry dressing on the salad was amazing... I requested the recipe but they declined to share :( I had the roasted duck with cassis compote, which was huge and I only ate half. My date had the salmon with some type of creamy blue cheese/Gorgonzola topping, which was very tasty, but I only had a bite as I am not a huge stinky cheese fan. For dessert, we shared a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie (which our server said was good for 2... umm more like 6!) topped with ice cream. All in all, a very good meal that probably would have cost way more in the city. If you're ever in Canadensis, maybe stay at this B&B or at least pop over for dinner! read more

The restaurant, attached to a bed and breakfast, has the most amazing owners, food, history, love and vibe of any establishment I have gone to in many years. Took my husband here as his first bed and breakfast and he has said he will never go to a regular hotel again. The restaurants chef is second to none and creates food to order for this charming little restaurant. We had a private romantic dining experience in our own little room and I got steak and scallops- some of the best I ever had and my spouse got Zuppa red which was amazing and a huge portion. The drinks are also just as good with homemade hibiscus syrup but it feels like you are in a gourmet hosts home and happy to have you and want you to leave satisfied and happy. Well done! Stayed at the Brookview Manor for the weekend. Marty and Gail are wonderful hosts and Marty is an exceptional professional chef. Enjoyed both dinner and breakfast. For dinner, we had salmon and my mother had chicken. Breakfast was also delicious and creative! The first day we had waffles and eggs. The second day we had an amazing brioche with eggs and "groats". Great little place- Portions are generous, staff is nice although service could be a bit slow. Definitely takes getting used to as dinner took close to 3 hours. Bar next door is cozy and you should definitely try the Smurf! Reading everyone's reviews made me want to order the french onion but they ran out! I did enjoy the stuffed mushrooms (delicious sauce, mushrooms, stuffing) but could have done without the shrimp on top. Clams appetizer was underwhelming but nicely presented, SO did enjoy the sauce with his bread. My Zuppa Di Pesce was huge- literally served on a big pan. The pasta was al dente done perfectly, seasoned wonderfully with the sauce, and the mussels & clams were VERY bountiful (menu says 1 lb, but I didn't' realize they meant EACH), shrimp was tasty but a bit overcooked BUT for the life of me, I couldn't find any calamari pieces as advertised (okay by me as I'm not the biggest fan...but SO loves them...strange!) Do note, if you choose to sit outside (on the enclosed wraparound porch), make sure you bring a jacket! Our table was right by the door and my foot froze half-way through dinner. Ran into a bit of a snafu trying to redeem $10 for $20 yelp deal, but they accepted it- just had to run it by one of the senior servers. It did take forever to process though (about 20 minutes). Nice experience if you're in the neighborhood, but make sure you have the time! read more

We came here looking to get away from the crowds at camelback and found a great place. The food and service was excellent. The owners and staff were a pleasure to meet. My husband and I started eating here when it was at it's first location. We have continued to go there for all these years. The food is great as is the service. We love having a long-standing relationship with the owners. We also love supporting small businesses. Went to this place after a ropes course adventure with friends, and we were not disappointed. A friend and I shared a 26-ounce steak that was cooked deliciously with onions and mushrooms. Not too many food choices, and it is a bit expensive, but it was a nice experience. The inn is very cute and the atmosphere nice, everyone was super friendly. This was the 2nd time we had come to this restaurant, but unfortunately this experience was very disappointing. While the restaurant was far from full, we weren't seated for our 7:15 reservation until 7:45. We were told that a server left because she felt it wouldn't be busy enough. I ordered a pinot grigio at the bar, which was warm. Although the bartender said that she put a bottle in the freezer, my glass at dinner was equally warm. The service, while very friendly and pleasant was slow. My dinner was delicious, but not what I ordered and it took forever to arrive. The special was shrimp over arugula with pesto sauce, I was presented with the shrimp over pasta. Since 2 in our party ordered the same dish, we questioned the server, who apologized and brought me a small dish of arugula leaves to throw in. Very strange. We passed on coffee and dessert, as It was close to 10pm when we left this restaurant. Not sure that I'll give this restaurant a 3rd chance. read more

I so wanted to love this place in a quaint bed and breakfast - cozy, yet romantic atmosphere and an extremely accommodating menu and waitresses who are knowledgeable and efficient, but I found the food - not meeting it's full potential. The hubby and I started off with the stuffed mushrooms. Three mushrooms, on the smallish side, stuffed with a mushy, greasy, yet flavorful stuffing, with even smaller morsels of crabmeat. Had I not known that the stuffing was made with crab meat, it would have passed my radar altogether. My panko encrusted salmon, topped with a generous portion of blue cheese was nearly cooked to perfection, though it's cloying, sweet sauce, in a side ramekin, seemed oddly out of place and neither complemented nor enhanced the fish. Since our newly met friends remarked on how wonderful the pesto was, I opted out of the accompanied baked potato and asked for the fresh pesto with pasta, instead. My chin is still dripping with oil, when I think of the unremarkable pasta, sitting in a puddle of green tinged oil, that arrived to our table. What mystifies me, is that basil is abundant now. If the pesto was just made, as the waitress stated, why didn't I smell the basil, taste it's freshness, commingled with the sharpness of pecorino cheese and the subtleness of the roasted garlic? The best thing on my plate was the sautéed yellow squash, making me question why I don't make that vegetable more often. My husband enjoyed his spanakopita. His Greek salad was studded with these amazing tomatoes. To me, they were the star of the meal. Although the hubby liked his Greek salad, he wasn't satisfied with the accompanying gyro meat, which was overly cooked and tasted more like gyro jerky. read more

Great food, great service, top notch all the way ... Went out of their way to make me gluten free pasta with my meal that was awesome. The owners and waitress chatted and had fun with our party and made it a really nice experience. We even got to try a weird Durban fruit they had picked up at a market in the city. Great folks and good food ! If you want FAST food go to McDonalds..if you want a nice casual enjoyable dinner this is the place.. I was gluten free and they actually had gluten free pasta which was awesome..we had a great time with our waitress and the owners..they travel into NYC to shop at the markets and had bought a Durban fruit to try out and asked if we wanted to partake..we did and it was a fun enjoyable experience all around although I don't see anyone eating one again lol it was weird..
