MY DUMPLING San Mateo - Exterior on B Street

Food: 3.75 | Service: 5.0 | Ambiance m: 3.75 Was finally able to get in MY DUMPLING in San Mateo before the close of their lunch hour! Ambiance was modern airy, bright and clean. 4. SMACKED ORGANIC CUCUMBER SALAD - a fav and will always order this if on the menu. Love the fresh, Garlicky flavor! 28. MINI PAN FRIED PORK BUN (12) - enjoyed this but saw later on the menu there was a regular size PAN FRIED PORK BUN, meant to get #27 (6). 38. MARINATED BEEF ROLL PANCAKE - this was hot, flakey, good beefy flavors. I'd order again. 40. GARLIC STRING BEANS - while this was good I got the impression this was already par-cooked and re-wok fried per order. Wrinkly string beans is usually an indication of NOT fresh cooked. I'd return to MY DUMPLING to try the other menu items except definitely NOT the string beans.

Food here was decent but not great. It was easy to get a table around 5:40 on a Wednesday evening. Service was fine. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Ambiance is a casual atmosphere, nothing fancy, good for a quick sit down meal. We ordered: Mini pan fried pork buns (4/5) Pork & shrimp soup dumplings (4/5) These were overpriced at 6 for $15. Dandan noodles with pork (3.5/5)

Out of the dumplings spot in San Mateo, MY Dumpling is probably top 5. They doing everything pretty well, and price is comparable to the other dumpling spots in San Mateo/Peninsula (you're going to have to drive to the city for cheaper options). My only complaint is sometimes their stir fried dishes (namely the eggplant and dandan noodles) come out way too oily for my liking. XLB and dumplings are on point though and a good size! I'd also recommend the mini pan fried pork dumplings

Ordered to go and had no issues with pick up. The cashier was fast with giving my order. I will say overall 4.5/5 stars though just because this place is a little pricier than other places. The restaurant itself was clean and new. On to the food, 5/5 mini pan fried buns These were delightful small dumplings with a whole lot of juice and flavor and that slight crunch from the pan fried bottom. Must order. 4.5/5 pig ears Flavor was tasty. Well seasoned with hint of sichuan and not too oily. Only problem was that the ears were slightly too soggy but improved when eaten after being in the fridge 5/5 pork mustard green noodle soup This was just clean and tasty! The noodles were soft with a perfect bounce. The broth was lightly salted and delicious. 4/5 pork shrimp and chive dumpling This had a good mixture of filling. Juicy and flavorful. Skin is a little thick. Overall, I think this is some of the best dumplings on the peninsula. Definitely coming back and trying more.

Most subpar Chinese food I have ever had. The only standout aspect of this place is their portion sizes. We wanted to try their other dish options other than the dumplings but everything was just dry, bland, and lacking flavor. The pan fried potstickers don't even look like the image online. The service lacked, we were unaware we had to order on the QR code since everyone else around us was getting their order taken for them.

Tasty but felt a little pricey for what you get imo. Their dumplings are certainly good though. The filling is flavorful and the dumpling skin is tender and chewy. The pork and napa cabbage is a classic (my favorite) and super good. The spicy dumplings came with a delicious sauce that we used for the rest of our food. It paired perfectly. The bbq pork buns were mediocre, I would not recommend them. Felt very gummy. The pan fried soup dumplings were juicy. idk if I would get them again though, since the basic dumplings were so much better in comparison.

the restaurant was nice inside, i went on a monday night so it wasn't insanely crowded and i didn't need to wait for a table. the service was fine nothing super memorable. the food itself was good but nothing amazing. we ordered soup dumplings, garlic noodles, and these mini dumplings. the garlic noodles could have been more flavorful and were kind of cold, the dumplings were both hot, but i do think everything could have had a bit more flavor. i probably wouldn't come back but it was nice to try!

solid casual dumpling spot for a quick meal! the interior is clean & simple with qr code ordering at the tables. even on a saturday night, we didn't have to wait long for a party of two. the food came quickly and servers were around when needed! the xlb had a good amount of soup and were flavorful, but the skin could be thinner. the mini sheng jian bao were pretty yummy as well and kind of fun to eat! we also had the beef scallion pancake roll. it was nice and savory with the hoisin but balanced nicely by the aromatics. the crispy eggplant was good, but it was more crunch and batter than eggplant at certain points. if you like that, you'll definitely enjoy how crispy the pieces are. i think we just wanted more eggplant so that might be a preference thing. also the sauce on this is more sweet & sour than spicy! overall, i enjoyed the meal. it was a pretty pleasant experience and everything tasted pretty good even if i wasn't wowed. i'd probably come back again for a quick lunch or dinner!

XLB 10/10 very flavorful and well done Pork shu mai - big proportions but could be tastier Fried rice - good and well done as is every chinese restaurant I most especially liked their sesame balls, it was hot and crispy. Service was fast and waitresses were quick, too quick almost as to rush you. But overall place is great and the interiors are quite modern. One less star because I feel like their food had quite too much MSG, felt quite dizzy leaving and a bit pricyZ

Very good spot for dumplings! Service was great and the food came out very fast! Spicy pork shrimp wontons (5/5) - SO GOOD! The spicy sauce has the perfect flavor, kind of like din tai fung but better. It's not too spicy, slightly sweet. Compliments the wonton very well. Smacked organic cucumber salad (4/5) - refreshing cucumber salad. Marinade is on the lighter side, but still pretty good Dumpling with pork and napa cabbage (4/5) - Skin is a bit thick in our opinion, but the filling is very tasty and juicy. Original pork soup dumplings (5/5) - very good soup dumplings! The dumpling skin is perfect, thin yet still sturdy enough to be picked up. It's soupy (soup is slightly on the thicker side) and flavorful. And they're a decent size. Mini fried sesame balls (4/5) - these are definitely mini and don't look like the images on their online ordering menu. Still good sesame balls though! Crispy exterior and sweet red bean filling. We are definitely coming back to try their other dishes in the future!

My husband and I love dumplings, so we decided to stop by for dinner at 8pm on a Saturday evening. We didn't have to wait too long before we were seated in the back. The place was pretty packed inside and seemed a bit chaotic. We ordered and waited about 15 min or so before we got our food. We ordered the pan fried soup dumpling, mini pan fried pork bun, and braised beef noodle soup. Everything was above expectation, especially the dumplings because they were nice and crispy. I would probably skip the noodle soup next time since there wasn't anything special about it. I feel like the food here is authentic based on the quality and the taste. This spot will be on my list to come back again if I'm ever craving dumplings since good restaurants are hard to come by nowadays. It's also located in downtown with lots of restaurants nearby.

The more I come back to this place in San Mateo, the more it brings back memories of informal Mom & Pop diners tucked in the Hutong alleyways in Beijing. Pure comfort food that just fixes you....best washed down with Chinese beer.

It seemed like there was only one worker attending the tables so sometimes we waited a bit for him to come out to request for something but he was still very efficient. Items ordered: - Combo D Shaxian noodles with peanut sauce and Shaxian wonton soup: The wonton soup was simple but amazing. Definitely a soup you would want to eat on a cold or sick day. The noodles were covered in peanut sauce and also a simple dish, but we waited too long to mix the noodles and eat them so the noodles ended up sticking together. However, the worker was kind enough to bring us a new dish and advised us to mix immediately while the noodles were still hot. - Shaxian steamed pork dumplings: I liked how the dumplings were leaf shaped and filled with pork and cabbage. Solid dumplings overall and I would get again. - Boiled fish fillets with lemon pickled cabbage: A little spicy but great flavor overall and sour from the lemon pickled cabbage. Comes with a lot of fish and glass noodles.

There were a few staff running around keeping the front of the house so it wasn't a matter of work force but it took almost an hour to get steamed broccoli as the first of our order to come out. Not sautéed or cooked with finesse. While we were waiting for any food to come out, a couple of tables were seated after us but served their whole order while we waited for a dish to arrive at ours. Then came beef pan fried dumplings which were burnt on the bottom after waiting almost an hour for anything to come. We got a couple more dishes before we finally called it and just got the check. Flavors were bland, nothing stood out as delicious in flavor, texture, or overall bite. Even the vinegar used for soup dumplings wasn't the right type of vinegar. Service was slow, the food was subpar especially for the time it took to get anything on the table. Total waste of time, energy, and opportunity. Never again. The whole vibe felt like a quick service fast food experience rather than what we hoped to get out of it. Not for me clearly.

Curry Beef Stew I've never had Curry beef stew before, prefer chicken, curry, but for some odd reason, I decided to order this dish. It was underwhelming and I won't order it again. The Curry sauce itself was OK but the big long pieces of beef were somewhat gross, lots of fat. They added plenty of slices to onions and a few pieces of green pepper and Julienned carrots, but that's about it for being called a stew. So I learned my lesson by not sticking to my usual order, and won't order wonton soup or curry beef stew again.
