If you're expecting Burke Williams, turn around and go there. This is not Burke Williams. It's a hole in the wall Asian massage parlor with employees who don't speak much English and decor that is from Ikea and probably China's version of Ikea. That's not to say you'll have a bad experience. Just go there knowing what to expect. Yes, it's in a weird location. Upstairs from Jo-Ann's in the K-Mart shopping center. You have to take stairs up. The waiting room is small, but you're not meant to be in there very long. Yes, the decor is tacky and very Asian. But remember where you are - in an ASIAN massage parlor. The guy at the front desk is nice and will chat you up if you want. He walks you to your room, if you're getting a private massage, and explains, in detail, exactly what the massage therapist will be doing to you in which areas of your body and for how many minutes. He also asks you what kind of pressure you would like to receive. TELL HIM THE TRUTH! And if he assumes - correct him. This is the only way to get the massage you want. That was my only mistake. I said medium to hard and should have said light to medium. Because I'm a baby when it comes to tough massages. And TELL HIM if you don't want certain areas addressed. They are massage therapists not mind readers. Yes, the "upgrade" to a milk foot bath is questionable because you can't actually see what's in the bucket. But seriously, you're going to complain about getting a 75 minute massage for $35? And yes, the "upgrade" to organic massage oil is questionable because what the heck is the difference between the two? But again, you're going to complain about that when you only paid $35? Frank - he was good. He got some kinks out that have been hanging out for ages. And if I LOVED really hard massages, he would be even better. But, I'm a baby, and I'm asking for less pressure next time. Go ahead, try this place out. It's totally affordable for the kind and length of massage you are getting. I think I am in the minority here. I didn't enjoy my experience here much. I bought the Groupon as many others did and redeemed it after the deadline. The man who answered the phone was really nice and accommodating and made sure I got a female therapist (some of the stories from Yelp led to this decision). It is in the Jo-Ann's plaza which is a confusing place, but I did find it. I was a little early for my appointment, so when I walked in, I didn't think I'd get service right away but I did. The place, as others have mentioned, is really barebones. Thin carpets, cheap doors. Not the most inviting place. There is a decent enough waiting room with some water and magazines. I was brought into the room with some instructions on what to do, how much to keep on, etc. A thin sheet was all I had to cover myself and there was no music in the room. My therapist entered a few minutes later with the bucket for reflexology. I noticed she didn't shut the door completely which made me uncomfortable. She also didn't speak much English so I couldn't tell her what was comfortable for me. She did a nice massage on my neck, and the foot reflexology was really nice, but when I was feeling the massage to be too deep, she didn't adjust the pressure. So I was anxious the entire time. My feet did feel good but at a price. The real pain began after I turned onto my stomach. The pressure was too deep and, while I hadn't experienced a full body massage before, I felt a little invaded. I felt she was getting to the bone and it hurt. I couldn't wait for it to be over. I thought I'd feel the effects the next day, but I didn't feel relaxed at all. She needs to work on her technique for sure. You get what you pay for. I've been to plenty of cheap massage places, and all of them have been way better then this place. First off, me and a friend got a group on, $35 for 75 minute massage. A crazy good deal right? Well..... Still not worth it. Now for all the problems we ran into: 1) the place is tiny, if you have a couples room, you only have one chair to put all of your clothes 2) the masseuses were whispering the ENTIRE time, I'm trying to relax and all I hear is them talking. Not professional and not an environment any one can relax in! 3) the masseuses leave randomly throughout the massage to grab hot towels or put away towels. That's fine to leave for little bit but they were gone for at least 5 minutes! How far are those towels?? 4) the lady in the front literally walked out of the building, followed us, and asked for a tip. I would have tipped well, if I thought it was a good job, but it wasn't. Thank you Frank and Mary for officially making this my go to place for Foot Reflexology and cheap deep tissue massages. One of the main reasons I love this place is the fact that they are not afraid to prod and roll out my glutes and hips. I strength train 5 days a week and after a full leg workout, having someone who knows that if my lower back hurts, massaging the connecting muscles to my back will alleviate my tension (which will include my butt mucles, hamstrings, hip flexors and calves). Both of the massages I've recieved from Mary and Frank have been firm to deep tissue, the way I prefer my sports massages to be. NOTE: this place isn't like most Day Spa's. They will most likely not ask you where you are not comfortable being touched. If you are a female and do not like being touched anywhere on the chest or butt, OPEN YOUR MOUTH AND TELL THEM before recieving your massage. Use your words before you feel you are being "inappropriately" fondled. I had my first massage at this spa with Frank, one of the only male massage therapists at My Head 2 Toe, and he was completely professional. He got the job done as efficiently and my recovery time was cut in half because of him. My second massage this afternoon with Mary sealed the deal for me. Love this place. read more

I bought a Groupon for a 75-minute massage as a birthday present to myself but was very disappointed. I get massages often and this was the most bizarre experience I've ever had. The woman at the front desk was rude; she didn't even attempt to make me feel comfortable, nor did she warn me that I was getting a male masseuse (would have preferred female). I think she was upset that I had booked the last time slot and they just wanted to go home--I was also a little late, but only by 5 minutes. The massage itself would have been good but my masseuse was extremely unprofessional. He was sitting on the treatment table, breathing in my face, constantly sniffling and scratching his nose, and he would not stop burping! He left the room every 15 minutes, which counted as part of my treatment time, and he would be gone so long I kept questioning if he was coming back. Another employee stood right outside my room and also kept sniffling and burping (not sure why they were there because it was just a hallway with other treatment rooms, so I felt like it was to spite me). Overall, his technique was good and I tipped him based on that, but the experience itself was not relaxing. I did not feel welcome or respected by anyone on the staff. Oh dear, I really hate to rate this place two stars but I have to be honest. My therapist had almost zero talent or skill has a massage therapist. She tried hard so I have to give her credit. I asked for firm pressure and I thought she was going to snap my neck. Also, instead of gently placing the wash cloth across my eyes while I was lying face up, she practically threw it across the room at me. It ended up covering my entire face, nose included. I had to adjust it myself so I could breath. Granted, I realize this is not the Montage or the Four Seasons. This is a bare bones, dirt cheap Asian massage place but I have really had so much better, even at the dirt cheap places. The sheets and towels they used looked like they were at least 10 years old, thin and practically see through, but my issues are not even with that, they are with the skill of the therapist. How can somebody not have any sort of "game" when is comes to massage? Was I her first customer...EVER???? My foot massage was the worst & I was really looking forward to it. How can a foot massage be annoying and not relaxing anyway? Ugh, I was just waiting for it to be over. She pulled on my toes as if she wanted to snap them off my feet! Same thing when she was massaging my hands, she pulled on my fingers like she wanted to pull them off my hands! She was a little better when she was massaging my back. She used deep pressure which I like and she loosened me up. My next issue is when I went to pay. I had already bought a Groupon so my massage was paid for. There is a big sign out front announcing that "Living Social and Groupon customers should tip 20% on the FULL regular amount". No problem, I ALWAYS do that anyway. No matter if the massage was craap, she was working hard and she deserved 20%. When I went to sign my credit card slip, I noticed the guy at the front had added one dollar more to the amount I told him I wanted to tip. I went in Wednesday because my girlfriend and I bought the groupon for sale 75 min & foot bath for $25. Foot bath? They just put a bucket of god knows what when you're laying down. They're massaging your head when your knees are bent and uncomfortable soaking. You cannot enjoy yourself. After they leave you for a loooong time which cuts into your time. They leave about 5 times out of the room. When they finished they didn't even excuse themselves and just leave you there. My friend and I were like "uhhh are they coming back or are they done?" The WORST massage I have ever gotten in my life. I wasted 75 minutes of my life that I will never get back. I bought a Groupon for this establishment for my Bf and I. Making an appointment was easy, check in process was smooth, the room was the just the right ambiance and the music was just right. Then came in the "masseuse". They came in with a bucket full of water and placed it on top of the bed and sunk my feet in. It was so uncomfortable. While my feet were soaking, they started with a head and arm massage, then my feet and legs. There was no pressure nor did it seem like they knew what they were doing. It felt like they were making it up as they went. LITERALLY they were only rubbing oil on my body with no pressure what so ever. When it came time for my back massage, I thought she was going to break my back. She got on top of the massage bed and straddled me to "massage" my back. The entire 75 minutes I was so annoyed and upset. I COULD NOT WAIT TO LEAVE. My BF complained about the exact same thing. They also kept leaving for few minutes at least 4 times. Came here last minute with the boyfriend and it was a pleasant surprise. $25/hr for a full body massage is a pretty decent deal. They placed us in a private room and the ladies were very sweet. Most of the massaging was good, but their were times when it was painful that I had to ask my masseuse to be more gentle. I thought this place was OK as they staff was very friendly and my boyfriend enjoyed his massage. The only thing that bothers me is that in reading the reviews after my massage, I was kind of appalled on how the owner interacts with his unsatisfied customers. Given that some of these reviews were a bit mean and unreasonable, I still find it a huge turn off to see the owner stooping just as low by responding with some negative feedback. This place is right next to my gym so I thought it would be perfect for after workout sauna to detox and relax the muscles. Oh boy was I wrong. This place does not know how to run their infrared sauna they get you in there when it's still on warming cycle at only like 80 degrees and have sauna warm up while you already in your session, 40 min go by and you already at the end of your sauna and it's only barely 120 degrees. I have done infrared sauna many times and this one is by far worst sauna I ever went to. I have more sessions left of my Groupon and I don't plan on wasting my time and even using them. Went to purify sauna in Costa Mesa few days ago and it was night and day experience compared to this place, they have their sauna heated at 150 off the bat and it goes up to 160 while you using it. I was there last night for a groupon I purchased. As a massage envy regular, I wanted to give other places a chance. Pros: I called Friday afternoon, was able to get a Sunday night appointment. My massage was very good. Good for the price, wouldn't pay more than that, though Cons: No intake done, none whatsoever. No one asked what I was having issues with, no one bothered to find out if I had issues that they should look out for. Kind of alarming. Water in the "milk bath" got cold real quick. Massage started almost 10 minutes late. I did not receive a full 75 minute massage, especially with my masseuse leaving the room at least three times for towels, water, and more towels. My masseuse never even gave me her name, but was front and center when it was time to be tipped. I thought she gave a great massage, but the ambiance was just to creepy. Door cracked open, too much noise, her saying two words to me the entire time. There was a room full of people (men?) on the way out that were getting massages lined up next to each other. I have had a bad lower back spiratically for most of my life. When it starts to get bad My Head 2 Toe in Costa Mesa is where I go! They do a great job and offer both reflexology or spa massages. You can do either private room or a shared room session. To those unfamiliar make sure if you are wanting a relaxation massage you ask for full body spa massage. I think this is more of a swedish style massage for stress relief and relaxation. This type of massage you normally do with no clothing and a sheet covering you in a private room. I read a gentleman complain in another review who obviously ordered a reflexology massage which in my opinion is more of a preventative body maintenance for your health than a stress reliever. Reflexology is a science related technique where they put a lot of pressure on points of your body to assist other areas of your body. For example pressing on a certain part of my foot may help my back. Reflexology is normally done with loose fitting clothing on and in a shared room. I recommend wearing shorts and possibly sandals as they will soak your feet prior to beginning. My recommendation is to call in advance to make an appointment. On ocassion they can be found on Groupon but I don't mind paying regular price either they are worth it! The entire place is kept clean and I always feel welcome here. I got a Groupon and did a couples massage with my girlfriend, the price was fantastic and they put us in the same room, but I am a massage therapist and I got a very lousy massage. The ladies also left the room for much longer than needed, about 5 minutes on 3 different times and we were receiving a 75-minute treatment that I don't think quite reached even a full hour of hands-on time. Cruise down to Garden Grove for a better massage at a better price, Palm Tree Massage is $15 for an hour to have your feet massaged, or Happy Feet is $20 for an hour. The truth is you don't want to let them work on your whole body and especially not deep tissue work at these asian places where they have only learned a routine and do not have licenses to massage or understand anatomy and their work thoroughly. Glad I did it was the best I have ever had. I saw peoples comments about it not being "swanky" it was $35 you want swanky go to Newport and pay $95. It was good enough for me. Literally head 2 toe. In order to have a good experience, you need to know what to expect. Also, ask for a female therapist (I had "Tina"). Would I go here again? Perhaps for a foot massage only (I saw a room of comfy-looking chairs that looks like it was for this purpose). BFD: lack of privacy. There were peep holes in the doors to the private massage rooms that were intended for people in the hallway to look IN!! OMG! I can't believe no one else mentioned this. That made me feel extremely uncomfortable from the get-go. I was really hesitant to undress and wondered if they had any hidden cameras around. Also, privacy-wise, my masseuse didn't close the door all the way and she was a bit flippy with the much too small cover up sheet so I felt exposed sometimes, especially when she put the foot soak on the table and lifted my feet up and over into it (YIKES!). Overall, it was a good massage, but it was very, very firm. They didn't do any kind of intake form (I'm used to places like Massage Envy and Glen Ivy), nor did the masseuse ask me any questions about problem areas, desired pressure, etc. (I don't think she spoke English). She did do really good work on upper back knots, though! Oh, and make sure you're prepared for the percussion thwacking just as you get relaxed from the 15 minute foot massage :( A shot of adrenaline with your massage anyone? I suppose the facility was clean enough. The carpets are old, walls are very thin and the bathroom fan is so loud you can't hear the music if you're in the room next to it. I really think the place could use a makeover to improve atmosphere, but there wasn't anything gross that I could see or smell. Something I thought was impressive: when I was checking in, the receptionist had someone call to schedule an appt to redeem a Groupon. The deal is expiring on Monday and he told the lady on the phone that he was extending the value for one more week because they were all booked up for that weekend with people trying to use their Groupons at the last minute (like me, haha). It was hard to find an appointment time, not sure if they slot in different patients depending on if they are groupon or not. It's been a while since I've had a massage, but it was much needed. My friend found this place and we decided to give it a try. For $25 - 60 minute massage is not a bad deal at all, we made an appointment in the evening and that was not a problem at all. It was really quiet when we arrived which was nice to have the room pretty much to ourselves for the first 45 minutes. It was relaxing, however the random talking between the ladies gets annoying. I too purchased a Groupon for Head to Toe massage and Foot Reflexology and after reading some of the reviews starting having doubts about going. Some of you are right, it's not elegant like many spas we have all been too. The place is small - nothing fancy or elegant. The ambiance was okay, they did have music playing in the room. I didn't like the fact that the masseuse kept coming in and out of the room, it was very distracting to me. Also be prepared the masseuse does get on top of the table at some point to apply pressure on your back. When they say head to toe massage you will get a head to toe massage. My husband and I got the Groupon coupons as gifts from family so we decided to cash it in for a morning of pampering last weekend. I called to make an appointment and they had an opening Saturday morning at 10:30am for two people so we happily took it. I'm a stress ball and carry a lot of weight on my shoulders so I got a masseur (male). I was put in a private room and the gentleman was good and professional. He didn't speak much except for the occasional checking to make sure the pressure is okay. He had strong hands and was able to work out some my knots! I tipped $20 for my 75 minute full body massage.
