It was easy to look over their services on their website, but to ensure my mom and I could do our massages together at the same time, I found calling them was much better. I had booked the 50-minute Prenatal Massage and my mom booked the 50-minute Thai LOAM Massage with a 50% reservation fee. We were required to show up 10 minutes before our appointments to fill out a waiver and survey, change out of our clothes, and get situated on the massage bed. We were originally going to be in separate rooms but they asked if it was okay to put us in the couples' room; not a problem. They set up my bed with the pregnancy wedge for my belly, and it was pretty comfortable. The only complaint I had was that I had a hard time breathing through the little head hole as they layered a lot of white sheets on top of the bed and made the hole smaller and stifling. I found myself having to breathe through my mouth but it was tolerable. For prenatal massages, they only offer light and medium pressure. However, in certain areas I did feel like I got deep pressure especially in my shoulders as I had a few knots and tightness there. Katie/Kathy was my masseuse and she knew exactly how to work out those kinks while still making the experience comfortable for a pregnant person. I still felt like I got deep tissue massage on my shoulders despite the prenatal massage policy of being at maximum medium pressure. My mom said she found her massage relaxing and loved her experience at LOAM. They gave us water cups at checkout and we left feeling pretty relaxed. I did have a bit of shoulder soreness for 2 days afterwards but that is to be expected for getting the incessant knots out of my back--shoutout to Katie/Kathy! Overall, I highly recommend LOAM for their prenatal massages!

You walked in one of the towers at the Cancun resort. It was down a hallway way. You walked in a room and there are two pedicure stations on the left and the check in desk to the right. Then there was a door to the back hallway where I'm guessing all the rooms are. I was walked back into the very first room right behind the entrance. The whole time I heard doors slamming in the hallway and the people talking in the front entry. My appointment was at 2:30 but they were finishing up and don't come get me until 2:40. My massage therapist was a male, I prefer female massage therapist especially when I'm pregnant I'm just more comfortable with them. I didn't ask for a replacement because I felt bad about it and didn't want to be rude to him. The massage itself was good. I had to ask him to not be so hard and for less pressure on some points, and again I think that goes back to a women knowing and relating more to pregnant bodies. It was on okay experience. My shoulders are seriously bruised and very sore now. I don't think I'll be back.

I explained the prior issue and that no appointment existed on my end. A week later, Karina called again to say they would "courtesy waive" a no-show fee. I reiterated that there should be no fee at all, as I never booked that date. I also explained an Associate never called me as they usually do to confirm the appointment and asked if their approach had changed. She responded that she needed to pay her employee and close her books, which missed the point entirely. She also mentioned an email had been sent - I later found it in my junk folder, but I had no reason to look there for an appointment I didn't make. Had I seen it, I would have contacted them to correct their error. While I've had positive experiences at Lapis & Oak, I'm disappointed in how this situation was handled. I understand mistakes happen, and I'll take steps like booking directly through their website rather than with a person and checking junk folders more often. However, what I find most frustrating and the reason for this review, is the lack of accountability and the tendency to shift blame onto the customer.
