My appointment was on 2/18/26 at 9 AM! I'll start by saying, I apologize for not remembering the names of the team members I met besides Dr, Pogrebneak. Check in was easy and efficient and handled with care by the pleasant young lady at the desk. She seemed to be a great multi-tasker. The tech that guided me through all the preliminary exams was through and explained everything. He was very helpful. My actual exam with Dr Renee was quite informative and I found out I have a freckle on my eye, she was quick to explain what measures were required for treatment. Dr Pogrebneak made me feel at ease with this non threatening freckle but guided me to a specialist just to be sure. Her "bedside" manner was pleasant and detailed. Took her time with my eye clarity so that I could get the perfect prescription. She turned me loose to get fitted for glasses and sunglasses. The tech, again I apologize for forgetting her name, had a Pleasant disposition and again took her time with my fittings. Glasses are not inexpensive so I appreciate the time they spent, making sure everything went smoothly. Can't wait for my new glasses!! read more

After waiting for a month for my appointment, I got a call from the office manager the day before that my appointment was cancelled because they did not received confirmation. Confirmation was over text (I'm guessing it was AI) therefore they proceeded and booked another patient on my appointment. When I call, I got the rudest response. office manager (Jess) basically she took the 'it is what it is' and that unfortunately I needed to reschedule. Love the doctor! Dislike the office management!! (3.9) I have been a patients approximately since 2015. Back then it was known as Halpern Eye Care. However, it is now named MyEyeDr and it has not been the same for me since. There has been a lot of turn over with the staff and I feel like that plays a major part of why I could not give a 5 star rating. The first reason I stay with this office is because Dr.Tara, is kind, attentive, and thorough. And so I De.Boykins, the few times that I have had to visit with him. The second reason is because of its ultra convenient location in Bear,De (even through navigating past the Chick-Fil-A drive thru line can be cumbersome at times). One thing I wish MyEyeDr would do is encourage their sales staff to be a little more friendly and a little less pushy with the selling. I was at an appointment this morning and it was a waste of my time. I was told about pricing when I arrived and I spoke with someone yesterday and was not told about the price. I have a $10 copay for exam with my insurance. But all of sudden I have these additional ancillary fees. I was told that it could be $0-$160 due to my contact lense fitting. I never saw a the doctor. I was told to stand on a wall and read a chart then I was taken into a room to look in a lense to watch a balloon. I was also told it would be a copay to check the health my eyes of $35. I refused that. Then I finally was put in a chair to get my eyes exam but before the doctor showed up I was told I had to pay an additional $165 for a contact lense exam. I guess this is about the money for you and not about patient eye health. I left because I was not paying a dime and had not seen a doctor to get a full eye exam. WASTING MY TIME!!! read more

The experience was fantastic until it wasn't. I was greeted and promptly checked in by the receptionist. The assistant and eye doctor were wonderful in every aspect. Clear communication, friendly, professional, knowledgeable- Service was above and beyond. When it was time to choose glasses, the associate was no help. Pointed towards a few cases and I was on my own. After picking out a pair of frames, she continued To chat about her up coming days off, what she was ordering for lunch and her plans for the evening, all while I sat there learning more about about her personal life than I wanted too. Then she gave me a price. She added services I did not ask for, never discussed a break down of the fees, she assumed I was going to hand over my card, No questions asked. When I asked for a break down, she was frustrated, which made me want to get up and walk out. - When they said it takes one bad apple to ruin the bunch.....it's definitely true! read more

The hours are inconvenient. My glasses were ready Saturday morning but they closed at 2 and were closed Sunday, so I had to wait to pick them up until an even further date. I then called to check on the status of my order as it's a far drive and I did not want to go there and see that my glasses were not actually ready, and I was on hold for 20 minutes after calling twice and was given an attitude for just asking if I could hear the status of my order. I wish the times were more convenient for the customers and there were quicker responses, as it felt like a waste of my time knowing whether or not I should leave an hour early to get the eye doctor or not. read more

UPDATE: It is 03/13/24 and I have just received my glasses that I paid for and picked out on 12/30/23. I received a refund after advocating for myself. It's great being able to see. I hope that no one else goes through this with this establishment, and that they work out their issues with the lab and improve on their customer service. If I could leave zero or negative stars I would. I ordered glasses on Dec 15, 2022...it is now March 4, 2023 and am still waiting. After calling numerous times, speaking to at least 6 different people, hearing every bullsh*t excuse in the book, actually making two in person trips to find out where they are, and being told they are on their way only to be lied to, I'm done with this and this location. They now blame the lab, my insurance, being short staffed...the list goes on. Won't call you back, left me on hold for 30 minutes then 40 minutes until I hung up because they don't want to do their jobs and actually talk to the customer. Lenses did arrive and they were put in a frame that I did not order nor didn't pay for. No I don't want those clown glasses. This facility can't get their act together. Do yourself a favor. Get your prescription then fill your glasses or contact order somewhere else. I'm going to request a full refund on what I paid for my glasses and contact my insurance company to tell them to file a refund on their part. Unacceptable all the way around. read more

This is now the third time I've tried to come in to pick up my glasses over the course of three months. Come on. I show up before closing this last time and they've already locked the door. I was ignored. all of this after I was sent away the 2 previous times because they couldn't find my glasses. I was ignored even after asking specifically for the time they'd lock their doors. 1st attempt to pick up my glasses after being told they arrived I waited 30 minutes to be told they weren't there. They didn't know. second time I waited 45 minutes. 30 of which I was alone in the lobby with them trying to locate my glasses. Now on the third time I get this. Unbelievable how little was cared. This is unacceptable on so many levels. I'm working without glasses for 3 months now. No sympathy or empathy at all. One or two of the workers in there however are very polite. unfortunately I do not know their names or I would compliment them specifically. Went to My Eye Doctor on December 31st for my sunglasses prescription, and was notified that it was ready Jan. 11, went to the store and tried on shades but bifocals was wrong, so they have to send it back, it now Jan. 31st and no update. I login on the portal and it showed availability Feb. 13. I'm really disappointed as this is not a spare. read more

Never got the glasses! Please read on...you will agree that you should never give MyEyeDr your business. My son ordered replacement glasses that were still under warranty. He was told that they would be ready in 2 weeks. Two weeks later WE called to see if the glasses were received. Guess what! No glasses and he had to re-order them. Another two weeks went by and WE called again- yea- they arrived. Son went and picked up glasses. He gave them a good look once he got home and saw they were BROKEN! Son went back to return the broken glasses and put in another replacement order. We were told it would take a week. We called them a week later. Guess what! No glasses! Re-ordered yet again. Still waiting. I just canceled MY appointment at MyEyeDr. They never asked why I WAS CANCELING. The doctors & other personnel are great. I've always had an excellent experience at this location. However, purchasing from MyEyeDr is a different story. Extremely long wait times on purchases. Ordered contacts on February 26th, and still have not gotten them. It's been almost a month. This also happened last year. Pathetic. Also what's with myeyedr upselling everything? I ordered glasses from them. The frame was $265, I ended up looking them up on Nike to check reviews on the frame and from my surprise they were being sold for 190, $75 more than what myeyedr is charging! What's with that? Additionally, they are charging $460 for a one year supply of contacts while Costco only charges $270 (without insurance).... Basically I wasted my insurance coverage knocking that $460 price down to 290. What's the point when I can just go to Costco? Bottom line, don't waste your money here. The prices are outrageous compared to the competition. You don't benefit at all either, extremely slow wait times for receiving your order. If my contacts order isn't in within the next couple of days, I'll just cancel and get them from Costco. read more

I have been going there for years. I even told people about them. This year I had an eye exam, where I was prescribed a new prescription on eye glasses. There was an issue with them after I received them and went back to the office. They figured out the problem and said would correct it, which they did. However a month later I get bill for this. I go to the office and there manager says they will take care of it. We'll guess what I started receiving calls to pay my bill. I think it's time to find a new eye clinic. read more

Had an appointment today at 3:30 for my son. I got a call on Monday at 10:42 am asking to confirm the appt which I did. I then got a reminder text yesterday. However, when I got there today, we had no appointment. They told me that I cancelled it yesterday. I said I did not and showed them the text. The front desk woman also said they had no record of calling me. They could not fit us in for an appointment today. They didn't even try to reschedule!!! It was obviously their error that they would not admit to nor did they bother to apologize. This is not my first issue with them. They have now lost three patients. First time patient and I had a wonderful experience. Dr. Boyland was great; very knowledgeable, personable and professional. The rest of the staff that I met that day were also very helpful and even though it was my first time in this type of an office I didn't feel like I was just another patient coming through some clinic style eye dr's office; which honestly is what I thought when I first saw the location. I also appreciated the explanation of benefits and costs upfront to make sure that I understood what my insurance coverage would cover and my out of pocket expenses. I made a appointment to get a new patient eye exam and they called to tell me that they could not pull my insurance from VSP website so I called them and I came right up. Called back and let them know I was insured and all they have to do it call. She said they are too busy at that practice due to short staff and don't have time to call. Told me I would have to call back like it was my job to reverify insurance. I called back and cancelled my appointment for good. If you are too lazy to check my insurance correctly because website can be inaccurate then I don't need to come there every or bring my family there. read more

Lord if you can go anywhere else please RUN there. I took my little sister here to get glasses. The school gave us a coupon. I figured this place was close to home why not try it. WORST mistake of my life. We went on January 14 and it's currently February 18th and they have no idea where her frames are. They sent me a message saying her glasses were in . When I went to pick them up they took 30mins to look for whatever . Then presented me with just lens and asked me if I had the frames. I replied NO we ordered glasses with frames to be installed . They sent me to a manager who told me she would look for them and call me back but I never heard anything . The next day I called to see if anything had come of the frames and still nothing. I will never ever use MYEYE Dr for anyone in my household. I currently go to Bear Optical where I have never experienced anything like this . Thank GOD I didn't switch my doctor. I have been seeing doctors at MyEyeDr since 2018. The doctor is well aware of my eyes sensitivity to sunlight and artificial light yet treated my like I am not a human being with feelings. Drag me along for a week no return calls, I go in, I'm told the doctor will be "completing" my DMV form and will call. Again NO CALLS at all. I go in and the form is at the front desk with a note she can't complete and refuses to see me. The absolute experience worse.Done. read more

Dr. Boyland is absolutely the best and I've been going to him for many years. The practice was previously Halpern Eye. Things have changed dramatically since it became MyEyeDr. There are constant staff changes and a lack of attention to detail. I've had prescriptions for glasses done incorrectly and frames lost. I recently had my annual check-up with Dr. Boyland and forgot to request a new prescription as one had run out. I called the office on more than one occasion weeks ago and also OptumRx has contacted the office several times requesting the prescription which they have now placed on hold and may cancel due to a lack of response from the office! If it weren't for Dr. Boyland I'd be looking for another practice! read more

I had an emergency where my son broke his glasses and needed it right away because he was on his way to go away camp. I made the appointment online ( The email instructed), but when I got there, they had lost my appointment. I told them it was an emergency and that I will just order a new pair the lady at the desk stated I can't because the prescription expired and I had to make another appointment for another day. At this point I blame myself for going back here for the mere convenience of its location. I picked up glasses at another location and needed an adjustment so I came here because it's so close. Note, I got my glasses at another location due to the selection being so limited at Bear. The lady was nice but in retrospect I felt a bit rushed despite the fact that my glasses are still not sitting correctly on my face. She tried twice to adjust them and they're still crooked and not staying on right. She blamed it on my lack of nose bridge which st the time I smiled and nodded but now I realize that was rude. While it might be a fact about my facial structure why are we putting the blame on someone's face and not being more willing to take the time to provide excellent customer service to a loyal patient and get the glasses exactly how they should be??? Which brings me to why I'm giving this location one star ONCE again. If I could give it zero I would. Again, I ONLY go here because of Dr Boyland. Hate this place, receptionist is rude every time we come in! My daughter had an eye appointment to come back in due to her contacts not working ( wrong prescription) they never told her to bring in her boxes of unused contacts, so we get there and they ask why she doesn't have her boxes?!?! Waited thirty minutes past my appointment while staff chattered away. After nearly three hours, all I wanted was my prescription and to leave. Sales rep assured me that I got a ninety supply of contact lenses even after I explained that I had used my contact lens allowance. She ordered them, and it took two trips back to get the order correct. And then, you guessed it, I got a bill for the full price of the contact lenses I didn't want.So, one more trip to the office and I have -0- contact lenses. I used to really like Halpern at the Bear Location. Dr James Boyland however refused to give me a medical note I need to keep on file for different occupational challenges that I face that have to do with bright light situations. I had to call the office to get this when I started a new job & have never before had a doctor outright refuse to provide this. His staff did not get back to me so I had to keep calling the where they finally said he said if he wrote dr's notes, he'd spend all his time doing that... which is complete BS... You go to a Dr to ensure health & to get the help you need to adapt to conditions you have. Dr Boyland failed on both accounts. For these reasons I'll never be back & let everyone know of my experience. So....if you may need a doctors note about any of your condition... DO NOT go there... read more

All of the staff is friendly and professional. I like the fact that the office is close to my home and has convenient hours so that I don't need to miss time from work for the appointment.
