They expect you to buy glasses and or contacts with them. They are very rude when you don't. Also when you don't buy glasses from them you don't get a pd distance number, which you need to order glasses any place else. They will schedule with a virtual doctor unless you ask. Then the doctor you see will rush you through your appointment. If you do not like the contact lenses that they give you, they act like it's an inconvenience to go back. They charge you a lot of fees. Go any place where for an eye exam. read more

I had an excellent appointment last week at My Eye Dr in the Village District area of Raleigh, NC. I have recently moved to the area and developed floaters in my left eye. The person on the phone was so wonderful in fitting me in quickly because floaters can become problematic. Once I entered the office I knew that I was in good hands. I was welcomed right away and made to feel very comfortable. The technician (I am sorry that I cannot recall his name, but he is a young man and I believe his name is Marut??) was very thorough and very patient with me. He listened to my comments about what has been going on with my eyes recently and is very skilled at taking pressures from a patient's eyes. It did not take long for Dr. Irina Feiner to come in and see me for my exam. She is so patient and kind and truly listens to her patients. She was very great about picking up on the fact that my family history means I should not be dilated for a test she was going to conduct on my one eye with floaters. I feel very confident with the diagnosis from Dr. Feiner and her course of action for me. At check-out Sharon was super kind and very personable. I look forward to my next visit at this My Eye Dr. locations. read more

Absolutely terrible from start to finish. Upon arrival was asked to fill out new patient paperwork which included signing to say I received my prescription BEFORE the appointment and was told it needed to be completed to be seen. When scheduling, confirming and arriving for the appointment, was never notified until taken into the exam room that there was no actual dr on site and it would be a telehealth appointment. That's not what I'm paying for. When picking out glasses was given a price that upon further questioning I found there to be several up charges that are automatically charged and would have been added if I had not questioned the cost. When picking up glasses, girl made no adjustments, asked to have nose and ear pieces modified, she bent these pieces with her hands and handed them back. Terrible, terrible place. I've gotten my glasses here a few times, thinking it'll be better this time. My experience has been that the eyeglasses from My Eye Doctor are never correct the first time and sometimes they're still not correct the second time. Once, after I got my eyes examined, I waited over an hour for someone to help me with ordering the glasses. I finally just asked for my prescription and walked out. I have a friend that recently went there again, and like always was disappointed. It took them three tries to get his glasses right there and they still weren't right, but he just didn't want to bother with them anymore. I will never ever go to any My Eye Doctor again. read more

They have hung up on me twice now, and the first time I used this service they lost my contacts, which I had already paid hundreds of dollars for... something about them getting "stuck at a warehouse" ... never had another optometrist lose my contacts. I eventually got them, but took way more time and way more stress. Overall, some of the staff have just been cold and rude, and I wouldn't recommend this location to anyone. Horrific customer service. I booked an appointment 2 months in advance (my work schedule is not flexible at all) and confirmed via text at least once. I guess they have a policy where you have to confirm via phone the week of as well. Okay, fine, I guess. The office starts calling me at 6:15pm, 4 days before my appointment. I'm in a meeting at work so I silence the call and don't answer. They proceed to call me ELEVEN times over the next 20 minutes, leaving 2 voicemails explaining my appointment will be cancelled since I haven't confirmed. I don't even have a problem with the cancellation, it's their policy and I wasn't able to answer. But I cannot believe the level of unprofessionalism to call that many times, one after another. Avoid this place, had an appointment and still had to wait 45 minutes to be seen. They couldn't get the virtual doctor thing to work and I ended up leaving after being there over an hour. The girl doing my eye pressure test was clearly new and had no training, and after 5 attempts at poking my eye with the little plastic pressure gun I decided I'd go somewhere with more professional staff. I love my eye dr a lot! I have been going here and this particular location since I moved to Raleigh 4 years ago. And they have always been great. The office is inside of a shopping center in Cameron so there is plenty of parking. If you are lucky you maybe able to get a park in the front if not you can find one near by. The staff is always amazing and they are very nice. I had an appt so I only waited for a little while and then I was called back. While waiting they had me up date my information and offered me coffee which was new because they didn't have that last time. The eye doctors are extremely nice and seem like they genuinely want to be at work. The office is very clean. My longest interaction was with Rick, he essentially helped me choose my classes he was very witty and happy. He was also very patient while I chose my glasses. Overall this is great eye dr office and I would recommend it anyone looking to find a new place. read more

I made an appointment several weeks ago for a check-up and to purchase a new pair of glasses. I arrived exactly at my appointment time at 9 a.m. on a Saturday morning since I don't have the ability to skip work on a weekday. I was informed that they had cancelled my appointment without notifying me, and there was no option but to reschedule to sometime in December, over two weeks away. I received no email to confirm an appointment, nor text message, nor phone call. Apparently they just cancel appointments for reasons unknown, after you've been a customer for many years. Even better, someone else was already there to take my appointment, but they had no idea where their paperwork was, so the optometrist was just helping absolutely no one instead of keeping the appointment I booked. With a ton of offices in the Triangle area, they're always conveniently located to take care of your eyeglass and contact needs. The office in Cameron Village is sorta small with a cozy fitting and showcase area. My optometrist, Dr. Reeves is definitely a sassy lady and good to deal with. She even somehow makes eye exams sorta fun! But she's also well trained and has done a great job briefing me on my vision needs and explaining any issues I've had. And the front office staff has been pretty responsive with my phone calls and insurance questions. The one possible drawback for Eye Care Associates is that they are a bit pricey, I've definitely spent some serious bucks here on spectacles and contacts. But as I always say, healthcare is NOT one of those items in your life you want to save money on! So come on down to Eye Care Associates if you're BAAB (blind as a bat) like me... read more

I moved closer to the Village District MyEyeDr and so moved my care there. I was very impressed with the doctor (Dr. Khan) who gave me great information on eye dryness and the long-term value in using my glasses even when I can manage without them. Despite being advised that my old ones were acceptable, I decided to update my computer glasses with the new prescription (if I'm going to be wearing them even more than I used to, I want them to be as good as possible!) . Less than two weeks later I had new glasses...and a problem. One eye wasn't quite right. Noah promptly scheduled me for a re-check with the doctor who found a mistake in the original prescription. They sent my new glasses off for a revision and a week later, they're perfect. Yes, there was a mistake (we're all human) but how a company handles those is more telling to me than when everything goes perfectly. They were professional and helpful at every step of the way. The admitting receptionist was so unprofessional. She asked me to repeat my personal information (birthday, address, phone number in front of crowded lobby). She then continued to repeat we were born in the same year. Very strange & a HIPPA violation because other patients could hear my personal information. The lady who took my measurements almost refused to provide an itemized breakdown of costs. When she finally showed me her computer screen I was charged for items I never requested. I asked for Rx lenses to be put into Krewe sunglasses frames. Paid $300 for lenses and waited the required two weeks. Today I noticed that six days ago (on 5/10/24) they credited me back the amount I paid. I called this morning and was told the lenses weren't Rx-able. When I asked why no-one notified me I was told there was a note on my account saying they attempted call but rang once and went to voicemail. (Remember, that weekend was when we had the huge solar storm, Northern Lights situation that could impact cell service... ) That was it. No extra attempts in the ensuing 6 days, no e-mail, nothing. Sure, I'm disappointed they couldn't replace the lenses but the failure in due diligence to notify me without my calling when it was time to pick them up is such poor customer service. MyEyeDr at the Village District is presumably a high-end provider of eye wear. That they couldn't be bothered to make an extra attempt to contact me is beyond disappointing. read more

While I have been going to this office for a couple of years, I recently recommended my wife go to this office for an eye exam and new glasses. This was her first visit and found the doctor to be excellent. Too bad his staff is so inept. Once the exam was over she had her new glasses fitted. She was told someone would be calling her when the glasses came back. Three (3) weeks went by with no call so she decided to call them. They told her that the glasses had arrived 2 weeks before. No apology or anything. Took the glasses home and discovered the "sweet spot" on the variable lenses was in the wrong place. Went back to the office to have the glasses refitted. Again, she was told that she would receive a call when the glasses came in. After 2 more weeks of not having a call from the office, she called them. Again, they had arrived earlier (but no day was mentioned). Again, no apology or anything. Then we picked up the glasses and again the variable lenses were not right. With everything that has happened, she refuses to go back again. Since then, she has taken her glasses off so she does not have to physically push up on the bottom of the glasses in order for her to be able to actually see clearly. We spent a lot of money for absolutely nothing. The staff is so bad that neither of us will be going back. Too many mistakes and again, there was no apology or anything. I had my first eye appointment ever here today. The woman that checked my eyes prior to the Eye Doctor was extremely nice & explained everything well. However, the doctor did not explain much, and tried as best as possible to rush through the whole appointment. Even the top line was blurry but she did not seem to care. They also tried to add a $40 charge of "imaging" that they did not even complete (most likely since it was my first time, they probably assumed I wouldn't understand. - Cary location off Walnut - New to the area and without eye insurance, I was searching for a low cost options. However, I haven't have had a better experience anywhere else (even in my hometown!). They have a 'Vision Value' program which standardizes the cost of a basic eye exam and a huge variety of frames. Everyone I spoke with and met was so very nice and helpful. The eye doctor was quite knowledgeable and patient as well as being timely with the different phases of my exam. I couldn't have had a better experience. Also, if you have any questions about charges, locations, or availability - just call the headquarters. The lady I spoke with was incredibly accommodating to my many questions about costs and such. She really convinced me that this is exactly the sort of place I want to care for my eyes. read more

Walnut St Cary location is fine. Although waiting area was packed, I didn't have a wait. Just watch out for the additional costs of them taking a picture of your eyeball. Also, even with BCBS insurance, the cost of new glasses is crazy expensive. I shop online at Zenni Optical and get 3 pairs for the price of one here. You do need to get your pupil distance from eye care. There should NOT be a charge for this. A different eye care associates charged hubby $10. Anyway, unless you are a growing child this distance should remain the same. I am suspicious that mine has not been over the past 3 years. It makes me question the skills or ethics of the staff. Seriously, this place is as good as it gets. The space itself is very Cameron Village-- they have a prominent selection of designer frames and sunglasses and the staff are also stylishly dressed. I originally went with my boyfriend to help pick out his new frames (why let him make the choice, when I'm the one who has to stare into his dreamy eyes?! ;) and was incredibly impressed by how friendly and professional everyone was. In fact, I was so impressed by my boyfriend's visit, that I decided to schedule my own appointment. I have extremely good vision and have never needed glasses, but working in front of a double monitor for over 8 hours a day has caused some strain and I wanted to check things out. Plus, I have vision insurance, so why not take advantage of it?! Most importantly, they are extremely helpful with insurance and definitely try to get you the most coverage they can. The exam itself is quick (less than 30 minutes) and Dr. Reeves was so nice and professional. Turns out my eyes are a little myopic, so I needed glasses just for the computer. Loved the selection of frames, and they're definitely willing to let you try every single one on until you find the perfect pair. The woman even helped me choose! I settled on some funky blue Fendis that will make me feel totally geekchic behind my computer. Definitely recommend this location for your next eye appointment! read more

Very patient and friendly staff. The doctore actively listened to my concerns regarding wearing glasses. She suggested several options. The entire staff was very helpful in helping me pick out my glasses. My glasses arrived in less than week despite being ordered two days before Christmas. When I picked up my glasses the staff took the time to fit them. A staff member also took time to explain how progressive lenses work and had me try wearing them and reading, seeing distance etc. I highly recommend this location for anyone and especially for someone like me who has never worn glasses (except Dollar store readers). read more

I found Eye Care Associates took my vision insurance and made an appointment for a contact lens exam. I saw Dr. Reeves and she was AWESOME. Helpful, friendly, and unintimidating. The front desk staff were all also very nice. This would definitely be a five-star review if not for one scheduling issue I experienced. I took off during the work day to come to my eye appointment at Eye Care Associates. I ended up waiting probably half an hour total because the customers scheduled before me included two young girls who were both getting their eyes examined. It is not surprising to me, and will not surprise most people, that this took longer than a normal exam. I had to deduce for myself that this is why I was waiting, so a look at how long children's exams are scheduled in relation to regular exams might be in order. This is the third time that I go to the same office to have my glasses checked that they made two months ago and they have not been able to make it right. To start, "Dr. López's" assistant, started yelling at me, I do not know what right she has to raise the voice at a client because at this point I do not consider myself a patient for them I am just a person with vision insurance they can get money from. "Dr. López" was not very happy either, it seems she is very afraid of catching "something" from people who do not look like her. Why does she "put on an English accent ``. How pathetic. She looked at me like a weirdo as if I were the Incarnation of the Covid-19. If these glasses don't work I'm going to leave them there. I don't care if they give back my money or not. I'm a college student at NC State and I just got home from co-op. I randomly got a terrible eye infection and the student health services center sent me to My Eye Dr. They saw my condition and fit me in immediately. They were quick, nice, and easy to work with. They were also very knowledgeable and gave me a prescription. They then set up a follow up visit to check on me a week later, and my symptoms had gone away. They did not charge me for the follow-up, just genuinely cared enough to check up on me. Hopefully I don't have any more eye problems, but if I do I will certainly return. read more

I was only supposed to spend $10 for my exam... Somehow they managed to add all these special photos & special test and charged me for it AFTER they already did the test. Not ONCE did they explain I will be charged extra money for all this. They sat me down to pick out if I wanted glasses which the man made it seem like I was getting this huge deal with the glasses but not once told me the break down once again for the exam that I got, I thought I was just spending the $10 plus the glasses I picked out. I'm perhaps a year late in this review because I'm EXTREMELY busy and honestly didn't want to dedicate any more time thinking about the frustration this place has caused me (Cameron Village location). I'll give you the long and short version. Summary: This place is absolutely terrible. The staff (with the exception of only one lady who works at the front desk who is very considerate, caring and actually follows up with your concerns) is unprofessional, unskilled, unorganized and unfair to customers. This includes most of the ladies who work there as well as the manager and the doctors. The place offers poor service and will argue with you to risk losing money that might affect their business. Longer version: I went there in September 2012 and, while the appointment seemed to go okay, I believe they overcharged me. My bill was I think $168 and this was WITH 100% of my eye exam covered! They get you with extra fees for tests and apparently the contact fitting is over $100, although I've never paid close to this much. I let it go, but soon realized this was only the beginning of my struggles with Eye Care Associates because they also gave me the wrong prescription. I have never had this happen so I unknowingly ordered a year supply of contacts from Costco to save money. Being the wrong prescription, the contacts I purchased caused me to have headaches. I called Eye Care Associates several times to say that it was the wrong prescription and I'd like to get it fixed. Over several months, I was in there at least 3 times and each time they would just give me different samples and tell me to come back in a few days to see if my eyes adjusted, but they refused to recheck my eyes and very rarely would they return my calls. They also refused to reimburse me for the contacts I had bought (even 1 box). Luckily, Costco took the year supply back but the boxes I had opened I lost money on (~$60 total). Also there were times when I called and they would laugh and act very unprofessional or the call would get dropped because they were avoiding conflict. I tried to talk to the manager on several occasions and when I finally decided to confront him in person - after giving up getting a new evaluation and calling my old eye doctor to get my OLD and EXPIRED prescription, he gave me a box of my OLD prescription to "call it even". So now I didn't have headaches anymore, but because of the weeks gone by between each new sample they gave me (with 2-week disposable lenses), I had developed a cyst on my eye... which they also claimed there was no way it was their fault. After I repeatedly claimed that I was willing to compromise from all of the extra trips and phone calls and false prescriptions they had given me by letting them re-examine my eyes, they still refused to give me a new exam because the doctor "would not be compensated for their time." Question: What about MY time, health and money?? Long story short - I ended up giving up and going to Costco to get a new eye exam and pay over $100 for an accurate prescription, and to buy new lenses that I could rely on for the year. I kind of regret not blocking the costs I paid to Eye Care Associates with my credit card company because they do not deserve any of my money and this whole debacle cost me around $230 PLUS the cost of a new eye exam through a different company. I've never had this much trouble with any medical practitioner and it was completely unacceptable. A year later (last week), I received a text message, email, and then postcard saying that I have a scheduled appointment with the eye doctor and I should call to cancel. I never scheduled another appointment with them and never will so this really frustrated me. I hope that you choose to go somewhere else. PLEASE save your time and money. read more

I have always had great service here. Dr. Lubbers is the best. She's kind and thorough, easy to talk to. The Cary location on Kildaire Farm Rd just down from Walmart is the best! Dr Lopez is so knowledgeable and friendly. Her staff maje everything easy. Never have to wait long and the front desk staff are very efficient and also very friendly. Above all Erin was fantastic! She helped my husband and I find the perfect frames at a great price point. I got them today and everyone thought they were great! I probably would not have tried them on had she not offered them to me.
