As a McLean native, I have seen this particular restaurant location change from one restaurant to another, some as long-term fixtures, others as short-term failures. Mylo's Grill is sure to be a long-term fixture in McLean. The best thing about this restaurant is the service. This is a place where you introduce yourself once and you are a friend forever. Bartenders, hostesses, servers, owners, managers, they all will know you and call you by name. You can always expect a friendly smile and if something is ever wrong, a quick fix. I like coming to a place where service is no longer a lost art. The menu runs the gauntlet in terms of variety. Some people might come here expecting a little bit more of "greek" variety, but this restaurant is a true American Greek meld, so don't be surprised or frustrated to find Chicken Souvlaki and Cheese Steaks listed side by side on the menu. Speaking of their Chicken Souvlaki, it is great! It is especially great over a Greek Salad. Oh, and their salads, made fresh by hand, to order, in the large fridge in the kitchen to maximize crispness and freshness. They don't slack on the veggies and you'll find it filled with lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, and bell peppers among other things. Try their dolmades and make sure to squirt on some lemon and be sure to bring your appetite and order the crab dip with pita wedges as an additional appetizer. Full yet? Come for happy hour from 4:00PM to 7:00PM and enjoy some half price house wine, $2.50 Corona Lights, among other deals. This is one of the cheaper happy hour locations in McLean. Things to be on the lookout for, this is a family restaurant and can get kind of loud. Also, the restaurant layout isn't the greatest, and some may feel uncomfortable or kind of out of place. I'm really disturbed that a local business owner would send me such a juvenile and threatening message after I received a horrible meal at his establishment. Another great Mylo's experience. We normally go after church Sunday mornings but COViD has changed all that. We returned today for a very early dinner and had a wonderful time. We sat outside. There is a lot of additional seating in front of the Radio Shack (now gone). We ordered crab cakes and lamb souvlaki and grilled halloumi cheese (which was fantastic). Brought the leftovers home and a cheesesteak sandwich for hubby. Delish! They have outdoor heaters now, too. read more

This is a fine place to eat, but nothing special. The food is ok. We went there for a late lunch, and the place was empty. As a result we got good service. We ordered keftedes (excellent), calamari (very average), and Buffalo wings (good) for appetizers. The best thing about their appetizers was their pita bread which was excellent. I ordered Greek salad with a piece of salmon. I specifically asked for my salmon to be cooked medium rare. They followed my instruction and the salmon was very good. Salad was good too. My husband ordered chicken eggplant Parmesan, and liked it a lot. My daughter ordered bacon cheeseburger. It was ok, nothing to write home about. My sisters ordered fish & chips, and steak & cheese sub. They did not like either! They just ate their fries. They are also very inflexible about substitutes. I have been going to Mylos since they opened and I love this place. Chris (the owner) and his father and some of the nicest people I have ever met. The food is fresh and I like the fact that I can choose between traditional Greek food and American classics like a hamburger. I feel like I am entering the set of Cheers when I go to the bar. It is one of the few places that is a comfortable, neighborhood bar especially on this side of McLean. My favorite is the Chicken Souvlaki. read more

My husband and I visited for the second time this weekend, with indoor dining closed in DC. We very much enjoyed the great service and atmosphere. I love this place. I was surprised at some the OLD negative reviews so I need to add my two cents. Since the pandemic began, we go there to eat or just for a glass of wine. Sitting outside is a plus. The Dolmades are great and I always get them as an appetizer. However, the treat here is are the lamb chops. They are not on the menu so you need to ask for them. Also ask for extra lemon juice for the potatoes. This is the best greek restaurant in the area and family owned. One last comment, the regulars (of with I consider myself now :)) are extremely friendly. It's great food and also a great time. read more

I've been here a couple of times and needed to get the kids out of the house on the Friday after Thanksgiving this year so we headed to Mylo's. The staff was as kind as always, and let my son order a BLT off-menu which made his day. I just went to this place for the first time yesterday for dinner and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of their food! I love Greek/Mediterranean cuisine and their menu definitely contained a lot of yummy looking dishes to choose from. I ordered the Greek salad with chicken breast that came with a side of pita bread with Tzatziki sauce. Me and my two other dining companions also shared a bottle of Chardonnay and it was very tasty paired with our food! The only qualm I have with the place is that the lighting could be better inside because it felt a bit dingy even sitting right next to the window, you could see the sill was also pretty dirty and we had a fly that wouldn't stop buzzing around our table. But other than that, the service was very friendly and accommodating and my Greek chicken salad was delicious! read more

I came in today, not expecting much, but immediately I was greeted by a most angelic hostess; her name is Kelsey. She was kind and patient, talking to me like we were old friends. She's got some spice to her, but I like that - it's a nice breath of fresh air in times like these. First, let's be clear- having like 4 Greek items does not make this a Greek restaurant, which is what we were looking for. I will say that our server was very nice and attentive, parking is easy, but the food was not good. My husband got the keftedes platter and it was inedible. What is stringy inside a beef patty? We thought maybe it was undercooked but our waitress said it was fine. He ended up eating half of our kids hamburger. I got the halloumi burger, it was ok- it was food, basically. Happened into Mylo's with the kids after a partially successful visit to Radio Shack next door. Mylo's is a small, unassuming place in the Safeway strip mall on Old Dominion just over the border into McLean from Arlington. I could tell walking in that this place was either going to be a real find, or a stomach ailment waiting to happen. (Though the plethora of five-star Yelp reviews got my hopes up.) The small bar area had three tvs with NFL games going on, which a small crowd had also assembled to watch. The small, rear dining area was occupied by a single octogenarian couple and looked desolate. So, risking a visit from Child Protective Services, we sat the kids down at a table in the bar area. Service was prompt and very friendly, including a visit from the 40ish owner/manager. The menu was a mix of American and Greek classics - though, sadly, no gyro. The chicken souvlaki though turned out to be a worthy chicken-based substitute - very well seasoned with excellent tzatziki, though a bit too much feta. My wife's keftedes app was big enough to stand in for a small entree, and was quite good. The kids shared our stuff and they liked it. Either because we mentioned the magic word (Yelp) or he was trying to make a good first impression, the owner/manager brought out a dessert to share: a baklava-like dish with custard instead of nuts; the name escapes my simple tongue. It was great. Our meal was reasonably-priced, the food was very good and the place had a low-key, local vibe. We'll be back, if for no other reason than to try the lamb chops, which were recommended as the best thing on the menu. read more

The management and staff are always friendly, and take the time to get to know and welcome you. After coming there several times, my family is often welcomed by name, and special that are not necessarily on the menu are made known to us. This place is great! We used to frequent the Boat House in DC, which the owners of Mylo's ran, and were very excited to find out they opened a new place near us in Mclean. Our first time there was for a holiday party and the food was great and the service even better. They are sincere in making their patrons happy, full, and merry. At the party only appetizers were served so I knew I had to go back to try my old favorites from the Boat House. When I went back I was craving a Crab-cake sandwich which was my favorite at the boathouse, but once I saw the Prime Rib I knew I had to get it. Boy was I glad I did! It was perfect and the horseradish sauce and Au'Jous was an excellent match. I also tried the Grilled Halloumi as an appetizer and I can say you won't be disappointed. The food was fine but when I walked in to grab my order the woman behind the bar was incredibly rude and she yelled to me across the bar that I couldn't just grab my bag with the food I ordered for pick up. She was just very rude and patronizing basically accusing me of taking someone else's food and said she had to see my receipt, which is fine, but her whole demeanor was just very hostile. It's a very casual restaurant. It took forever for our waitress to come which is a bad way to start the night - mind you, the restaurant was pretty empty. The manager had noticed us getting impatient so he asked us if we were ready for our server and we said yes. Another girl came and took our order. Our server eventually came & apologized for not coming earlier. She mumbled something about being outside? The rest of the night, she constantly came over - I guess trying to make up for before. I wish I could remember what we had ordered as an appetizer. Some kind of meatball-ish appetizer? It was good though. The hummus was pretty bad. It tasted like they had scooped it out from an Athenos or Cedar container. Not that I have anything against those corporate companies, but I was expecting a fresher tasting hummus. The garlic was pretty overwhelming. I like garlic, but I don't like it to be that prominent in a hummus recipe. My boyfriend got the chicken souvlaki which was a pretty big portion and wasn't too bad. The food was way too Americanized for my taste and expectation for a Greek restaurant. read more

I wanted to love Mylo's....I really did. It's 5 minutes from my house, the menu is extensive, and I love supporting locally owned businesses. I've been back at least 5 times hoping to see the great food and service that have earned it a 4 star Yelp rating. I don't get it. The food is hit or miss, I've had to send several things back (overcooked meat, etc). The service is spotty, and like other reviewers, I've had several visits that TAKE SO LONG. I enjoy a leisurely meal at some restaurants. That's not what I want from my neighborhood pub. I'm looking for friendly, efficient, consistent, high quality food. Still a miss for me. It has been a while since I ventured down Old Dominion Rd. but I did just a few weeks ago and I noticed a restaurant called Mylo's that sounded like an ideal place to try. I searched for it on Yelp, and there it was. I try to visit a different restaurant at least once a week these days. Seeing that we now do this, I thought it would be nice to share my experiences on Yelp. Given time, I am hoping that I can offer a very detailed description of my experience of the various restaurants I visit. About Mylo's...I liked it. I had the salmon stuffed with crabmeat. It came with a small portion of rice and vegetables. The side salad was awesome, very fresh and crispy. I was very pleased with the serving portion and the taste. The restaurant has a great layout, which would allow for private parties. The wait staff was very attentive and pleasant. This was a great find and I can see ourselves going there often. I have been a patron of Mylo's since it first opened. I met Damon and Chris even before it opened and have felt from the beginning that this would be my family's go to place for breakfast, lunch, dinner, business events, and..... Happy Hour, which is the best deal around. The wine and draft beer selection is great. The menu provides something for everyone. The food is always excellent, no matter your inclination of the moment, Continental, Greek, Italian, Eclectic Specialties. But that is not the best part of what we have come to refer to as "Cheers In Mclean". Everyone does truly know your name here. The way we are greeted and treated is not "service provider to customer". We are all treated as friends. However, I look upon the folks here as more than just friends. It seems like a nice little family-run place, but it's hard to imagine our family ever going here again. Food was aggressively mediocre... the kids chicken tenders which were clearly out of a bag. We ordered one entree salad and one entree gyro/wrap, and felt like it was fairly bland grilled chicken served on a decent greek salad spread. But the price points were high, and it feels like the place looks exactly the same inside as it did in 1985. And you have the setting in a class B/C strip mall. Service was polite, no real negatives, but you can find a lot better and more interesting fare for less money in plenty of places nearby. read more

We drive by Mylo's Grill regularly and finally decided to give it a try. We were delighted with the food and service. For appetizers we tried the dolmades and fried calamari. Both were excellent--the dolmades were tasty and moist, and the calamari was some of the best we've had in awhile. I had the classic Reuben--nicely done with a lot of meat. My wife had the keftedes platter and her brother the beef souvlaki. Both were tasty with generous proportions. My only issue with the food were the over-salted French fries. Our friendly server, Matt, handled everything with aplomb and knew when we needed attention. We'll definitely be back. read more

This is a great neighborhood favorite for a reason. The food is consistently delicious, the service is warm and friendly, and the atmosphere is familiar. The salmon is AMAZING!!! I have tried to re create the same meal it at home, but no one can make it the same way as Damon Mylonas. If you're lucky, you may catch the Crab Dip on special as an appetizer as well. We went to Mylo's on Saturday night and will be back. It is not a huge place, but we rolled in with four adults and three kids and were quickly seated in at a large table that could handle all of us. It helped that it was a beautiful day out and the restaurant was slow for a Saturday night. Our service through the night was excellent. The waitress was very attentive and the owner, Chris, checked on us a couple of times to make sure we had everything that we needed. The food was excellent. The kids are normally picky eaters, but they enjoyed their meals. The oldest kid had eaten a late lunch and said he was not that hungry...that was hard to believe after he polished off the better half of a rack of ribs. My halibut off the specials list was some of the best fish I've ever had. No one left hungry and everything was excellent. The beer selection was great was four local beers on tap. I had a Devils Backbone, and a local IPA that were both very nice brews. The wife had some sort of pineapple mixed drink she said was really good. This place is great...the only complaint is that it isn't closer to our house. read more

Very popular local restaurant and watering hole. Wife and I had lunch on Friday before Memorial Day on patio on a beautiful day. Waitress was very nice and friendly. Tuna melt with onion rigs was very average which accounts for the rating. That must not be their specialty but I have had their burgers in the past and those are great. read more
