If you have a large group, avoid My Moon at all costs. Their prix fix menu is a scam. We recently went to My Moon for a friend's birthday. I've gone before and know the dinner can be excellent. Our group's prix fix menu was $75, tax and tip not included, drinks not included. Dinner reminded us of a school cafeteria. Every course was simple, bland, and clearly designed to be as cheap as possible to produce. By the end, guests were literally checking the regular dinner menu, trying to figure out how the numbers compared. It was that obvious they'd jacked their prices and reduced their quality. End result is we paid each paid north of $100 for single drink, a tray of soggy fried potatoes, a piece of roast chicken or salmon over unseasoned rice, and a bite-sized dessert. I rarely write reviews, much less bad ones, but this deserves to be called out. My Moon bills itself as venue for groups. We were only ten people, and got scammed. I can only imagine what they do during a wedding. read more

Wow... just wow. This is a beautiful restaurant perfect for an intimate date night or a large group gathering. It is very spacious and I just found out it also caters as a wedding venue! My boyfriend and I stopped by here for date night and we were very pleased. We were in between ordering wine of cocktails and our waiter recommended the cocktails and helped us narrow down the list. I ordered the la pepina which is a cucumber and jalapeño infused tequila drink - (marg) and my bf ordered the ginger gold rush with bourbon and ginger bitters. Both drinks were excellent and had a great depth of flavor. For tapas we ordered the fried calamari- very crispy and fresh, the patatas bravas- good portion size and tasty, croquettes- perfect bites with a delicious sauce on top, shrimp in garlic sauce- so flavorful only with I had rice to soak up all the sauce, empanadas- the chicken was delicious green sauce could've been spicier in my opinion and beef was okay. Having checked out the spot for my upcoming marriage, I was intrigued, but do due to the size we couldn't pull the trigger. My friend had the right number of people for his wedding ceremony so we got to check it out. The space is gorgeous. We multiple rooms I can see people doing lots of different things for their weddings. Being that it was the winter the ceremony was indoors, but I imagine some people could do part of it outside. The ceremony was beautiful and the reception got crazy. It was beautifully done. The staff seemed to move like clock work for everything. The event was fantastic. Helped there was such a great couple getting married, but the event should get some credit for how wonderful everything was. Would recommend for smaller weddings. read more

My husband and I visited on Valentine's Day. It did not seem super busy, just average Friday night busy. There was no one waiting for a table. They want you to make a reservation and you have to choose prix fixe or a la carte. We chose a la carte because there were a lot of things my husband couldn't eat on the prix fixe menu. Never was it explained that a la carte means they seat you in another room where you can't hear the live music which is why we went in the first place. After working it out with the maitre'D, we were seated in the main dining room. After 20 minutes my husband asked where the hell our waiter was because they didn't even pour us water. We order everything at once. Another 20 minutes go by and drinks finally come, one of which was wrong even though I pointed it out to the waiter on the menu. It takes 15 more minutes for the right drink to come. After about 90 minutes our entrees come out. I am served crunchy spaghetti that I had to scrape out of the pan it was served in. I was so damn hungry by that point that I forced it down. Every time the waiter actually shows up at our table, the first thing out of his mouth is, "I'm so sorry about everything." We have to beg for more water, which he forgets to bring. (Every table has a water pitcher except ours.) We actually asked to see a dessert menu and the choices were way overpriced for very small portions so we said forget it and went home. For all they F'd up they didn't even adjust our bill. There's a huge gong hanging on the wall in the main room and I wanted to bang it like they did on the Gong Show to discharge the contestants because that's the type of experience this was. read more

They saved the day! My nephew and his beautiful bride were to be married today but their Brooklyn venue called this morning to say that they had no electricity and had to cancel. First going to say atmosphere is amazing. This is a really cute place with good outdoor seating for small and large groups. Tapas style food which was pretty good - not great but between food and atmosphere alone, would have rated a 4 star. What was disappointing however was the service and pace of the meal. The waiters were very nice, however we had to tell them multiple times to slow down the food being brought out and to please stop clearing plates before we were done. We sat down at 6:30 and had ordered 5 tapas and one entree for 4 people, telling them we did not want everything at once. However we had all tapas by 6:45, even after telling them mid way to slow it down. The staff were trying to clear our plates 10 minutes later, despite us still eating and the restaurant being only half full (meaning they weren't trying to clear tables quickly). When we finally were done with the tapas, we had asked them to wait to bring out the entrees since we had wanted a moment to enjoy conversation and our drinks, however 5 minutes later, our main courses were served. My in-laws live in South Brooklyn, so we usually end up going to the tried-and-true places nearby to celebrate special occasions. However, lately, we have started taking them out to northern areas of the borough as the food scenery there is much more vibrant and we also want them to have not just a meal, but an experience. So, for Mother's Day, we took them to dim sum, and for Father's Day, we decided to do tapas. I was looking high and wide for a good authentic place in Brooklyn and then it hit me. I have been wanting to come to My Moon for a long time because someone I know has gotten married here and although, I am not so close as to having attended the wedding, the place piqued my interest. We made reservation for an early dinner at 5 PM. Upon arrival, we were seated outside, in a comfortable booth in a gorgeous courtyard. We ordered a few tapas: patatas bravas, shrimp, Brussels sprouts, tuna tartar, beef carpaccio, gnocchi. We had to repeat some of these as they were overwhelmingly liked by everyone and the portions while shareable, are not that huge. We have, however, gotten a good fill of the tapas because for the mains, the seven of us shared one small chicken paella and one small seafood paella. We also ordered all of the desserts to be shared. The service was lovely. One person, who I think was an owner/ manager, stopped by several times to converse with us and we were delighted that he spoke Russian due to being married to a wife from St. Petersburg, and he was equally delighted that I spoke Spanish. He was so sweet, took our photos, and took such good care of us, and so did everyone else. Inside, the restaurant has a very warm atmosphere, it's rustic, and there is plenty of space. OMG our evening at MyMoon was simply OUTSTANDING!!!! The food, the space, the service... just off the charts. We are visiting NYC and this was out of the way but will now become a mainstay of every future visit. We had a large group so we got to sample a lot of the incredible dishes. All super delicious and this will sound strange but the chicken salad was the surprise hit! This place is actually used as a wedding venue when it's not functioning as a restaurant , so make sure you call and check before you go . I love their food, but it can get a little pricey . Rus and I had our wedding at My Moon this summer and loved it. It offered the perfect balance of indoor and outdoor space for maximum affordability. We looked at lots of other venues in the area and while they all had bigger price tags, My Moon offered the most flexibility and the best space for us. Our guest list was at ~80 and we were able to have the reception outside in the beautiful courtyard. We hired a florist but this place is so beautiful and green that you almost don't need any. It offered the perfect backdrop for our photos, too. Lee (the venue operator) was great to work with, had a great sense of humor, and was highly communicative. He always responded very quickly when we emailed him with a question. He helped us think through all of the details of our big day and even helped us pick our officiant (who also turned out to be awesome!). The food was excellent, too. The menu offers so many options whether you've got meat eaters or vegetarians as guests. The ONLY thing that bummed me out about the food was the dessert options (no ice cream). The desserts are kind of meh, but we ended up bringing our own treats to fix that. This place is wheelchair friendly, has a little tucked away room for the bride/gifts and can fit so many people. Check it out, you won't regret it! My only requirement for a wedding was that it had to be in Brooklyn, my borough for life! My Moon helped me make it happen and didn't overcharge us a dime. read more

I went to a wedding here this weekend and I'm still thinking about the steak (pictured(, 2 days later. It was moist, tender, and flavorful. For a wedding dinner steak when hundreds of other guests were also being served dinner, I was very pleasantly surprised and even sacrificed dancing time to continue chomping down this steak (and I love dancing). The appetizers I tried (flatbread, and chicken with some sort of thin pasta) were also delicious, as was the sangria during cocktail hour. I have never been here besides said wedding, but judging by their quality of wedding food and drink I suspect that on a regular business day the quality is even better. (A few of them actually told me that it was the most fun and the best wedding that they've been to. hehehe) And even if I could turn back, I'd still have my wedding here. First, the venue is gorgeous. So gorgeous that it doesn't need flowers arrangements to make it look pretty. (I did put some flowers for the center pieces and that was about it. I only needed about $200 worth of roses for the entire place.) I had the ceremony and cocktail hour outdoor and reception indoor. It was late June, so the weather was perfect for the romantic outdoor setup. Second, the food... let's not forget, this is a restaurant to begin with. The food here is legit. I had so many people complimenting on the food during the reception and even after! :) Third, the owner/manager here is very helpful. Obviously, he's done this so many times before, he knows everything. Just ask him via email or call him up for help or concerns. I had concerns about the weather being rainy, so he hooked me up with a very reasonably priced tent company. I also wanted to have a little photo booth and he hooked me up with a photo booth company that was also very reasonably priced and perfect for the little space at the back. Just ask. He will do anything to help you. Lastly, the price here is unbeatable... For everything you can milk out of this place, the per head price is really reasonable. I looked at Brooklyn Winery next door and they asked for around 1.5 times higher than MyMoon, when they don't even have outdoor space!!! Anyways, all of my wedding pictures look amazing. Thanks to the beautiful space. :) People say they don't enjoy their own wedding day, but me and my husband had a blast. He opened the bar late for the wedding party since we couldn't stop partying. lol My only downside is for those who are planning to have a big wedding. This place can only hold max of 120 or something. So be mindful. BUT! I really recommend this place for anybody who's also looking for some brooklyny/vintage/rustic themed wedding. We just recently attended a friend's wedding here and was blown away. The decor, staff, setup, music, drinks, and food were all first rate. Love the exposed brick everywhere, dark accents, curved booth seating along the walls, heavy dark wooden communal tables, large bar, modern art pieces on the walls, large clean bathrooms, and windows/skylights letting in natural lighting. Wonderful spot for a mid-sized to smaller wedding or special event. They even have an outdoor space courtyard for use when the weather permits. When night fell and it was dimly lit with candles flickering it almost looked like a set piece from Game of Thrones. I expected the iron throne to be set up for the happy couple to sit in and preside over the wedding celebration. Good thing it wasn't the Red Wedding episode! The staff here were more than accomodating to any request we had. The bartenders were great and made us some specialty drinks and shots too that were off the menu. The dinner was just perfect with some nice choices on the menu. That beef tenderloin was delicious, and the salad was an entree in itself. If you're a fan of Game of Thrones, you will love this place. Before entering the indoor area, you'll walk through a really nice garden setting with lots of seating. Once you get inside though, it's all dark metals and Dothraki war gongs festively adorning massive exposed brick walls. Seriously, this sh*t looks sick. Came here for a wedding and things could not have run more smoothly. They had an elevated outdoor section for the actual ceremony, with the rest serving as the cocktail area. Servers were swift with the sangria and hors d'oeuvres (had to google that spelling) and everyone promptly proceeded to get f*cked up. For the dinner portion we all headed inside the Khaleesi's mess hall and had a solid 3 course meal. My hanger steak was a bit over cooked, but the flavors were fantastic so I'll let it slide. The rest of the night consisted of dancing/hanging and it was nice to have the option of being in or outdoors. My best friends planned my birthday dinner here for a large group of 20+ guests. pros: - we occupied the entire room to the left and were able to enjoy a semi-private dinner. - very roomy and comfortable dining. atmosphere, ambience and decor was very cozy and romantic. loved the tall ceilings, exposed brick and candlelight. - we chose the family style menu (which was reasonably priced) and there was definitely more than enough food to go around. - some of the items on our menu were hit or miss but for the most part, majority was tasty and well prepared. - their speciality cocktails were actually very good. the Glass Slipper was my favorite. cons: - our waiters while professional, were somewhat dry and robotic. - the dishes could have came out somewhat faster. the major disappointment however, was that we were never informed the backyard garden closes before midnight. the host agreed to keep an area reserved for us in the nice outdoor lounge/cabana area for our after-party where we also invited additional friends to meet us for drinks. suffice it to say, it really really put a damper on the entire evening while myself and 15 other friends are walking around williamsburg at midnight looking for a place to have drinks... Got married at this venue in 2015-one of the best decisions! It's absolutely gorgeous. The entry gates look grand, the indoor and outdoor space is almost impossible to find elsewhere, the menu was worthy a special occasion, and not sure you can find nicer people to work with on such an important event! The space itself is so beautiful on its own, we didn't have to go overboard with flowers or other decorations. The front/outdoor part of the venue has patio seating and a raised deck. The raised deck was where we had chairs set up for the ceremony. The backdrop to our vows was this wall of greenery, which becomes lush and even flower at the right time of season. After the ceremony, the outdoor area also served as our cocktail hour, where drinks and hors d'oeuvres were served. The horodorves were outstanding! And we know because they set up the bridal suite with a flight of all the tastings so that we were able to also enjoy a bite while I got my dress bustled up. Seriously, the team is so thoughtful! The dinner and indoor restaurant section has tall ceilings and is dim and rustic. There is a bar at the back, fully stocked, which we made open for our guests. There are long tables for the middle of the space, and round booths set up on the sides. Photos came out so beautiful. The perks of My Moon being a restaurant is that the dinner service and food was fantastic. Definitely a meal set for an occasion! When dinner was done, everyone stood up and tables were moved to turn the space into a dance floor. The staff and especially Ruggero who coordinated all the details for our wedding were wonderful. Did not expect such mediocre food from being the only patrons eating when we arrived (only one other table became occupied during our stay). Once I saw my partner was done I asked for the my meal to go (I wasn't very hungry and the lack of flavors wasn't helping). Only one item from my plate was placed in a container. I even added items from my partners plate they didn't finish to mine. All that food gone to waste for what purpose? Not only was the food bland (hence why I wanted to take it home and fix it) but I was duped into paying for a meal I didn't get to eat. Shame on this place. I've been wanting to dine here for quite some time (always closed for private event and I can see why; nice space but I can't [nor want to] eat furniture) and this is my experience.
