TLDR: Very good homemade dumplings at a slightly painful price point. There is no doubt that these started out and the same standards are kept even as they grow into a more restaurant scale. They're steamed to order and I think it's worth a try for those willing to pay a bit more. Spicy Steamed Dumpling with Shrimp and Pork: It sounds dangerous for those non-spicy eaters, but the spice levels are so low, that the people who do enjoy spicy food might complain. The blend of pork and shrimp is at a decent ratio, and you never get the feeling of heaviness that some dumplings have. You could finish all 8 and feel fine afterwards. They're good fresh off the counter, and is equally as good after reheating it at home. Shaomai: It's nothing like the yellow ones you get in Chinese restaurants. Yes, you get the pork blend with some ground shrimp thrown in there, but that's as far as the similarities go. The dumpling has a mushroom dominant taste after the work and it's a slightly heavier piece compared to the spicy shrimp and pork dumpling. I think the place is known for this and is a safe spot to start for first timers. Service: It's in a small foodcourt inside a supermarket. You order, you pay, and your food is prepped. This place is well known for dumpling for ages and it is pretty good too. It located inside (or on the side, food court of) HMart. It's a stall with food pictures and prices. Also you can see the workers making the dumpling right here or through the glass windows to the inside. Their dumplings are big and filled with varies type of meat with vegetables. Plus they do have other dishes that you can an either eat in or take him. Most of the dishes just take 3-4mins to packed but some, can be up to 15mins. Service here is alway great and fast. The place is tightly and clean. They do provide free self service water (hot/cool/cold). I ordered the Shumai and it tooks 15mins to make. They brought it out and it's very delicious, packed with pork and chives and other veggies. Price wise, can be on the high end side. Mine cost $17 for 10 big size pieces. I absolutely love their Shaomi with pork and shrimp and their Spicy pork and shrimp dumplings. They're so bouncy, chewy, and flavorful. I have yet to try the other items next time. They're made to order, so it does take some time, especially when they have multiple orders. The staff is friendly and delivers the food to the table. This location is inside the H Mart Korean market. There are lots of seats and tables. The staff is very nice and kind. I have been going here with my husband for a few years now and their dumplings are soooo good! We usually order the dumplings in the soup broth, but my husband just recently ordered the seafood soup with dumplings and the broth was sooo flavorful and delicious! Not a lot of seafood but enough like little pieces or shrimp and muscles to make it very flavorful with noodles too! The sides they give with your entree is always good, like kimchi and other pickled dishes to share like an appetizer. I would advise eating it there to be able to enjoy the sides with your soup entree. Anything you'll order is going to be very good! Each meal is about $11-16 but very plentiful and a fraction of the cost you'd spend if you went to other dumplings establishments-which I'd much rather come here than those other places. If you want drinks you'll have an abundance to choose from at the H Mart to bring to your meal :) Love visiting here at least once or twice a month-usually on a Saturday! Our order: no. 1 - wang man doo with pork and veggies - 4 pieces. the bun is so fluffy and soft. the stuffing is a tender mixture of pork and onions and vermicelli. yum! The pickles that come with the order wakes up the buns. good balance. no. 4 - shaomai dim sum - 10 pieces. I love the sauce it comes with, like a soy vinegar sauce. This dish is best eaten immediately. same filling as the buns I believe. You can reheat by re-steaming at home. Service is friendly. Enjoy! These two orders came out to 27 bucks. When they say this is the #1 Dumplings in Orange Count - THEY DID NOT LIE!!! I just wanted to eat the fresh buns by itself, it did not need the pork inside. I have to rate 10/10 and with the soy sauce, it was a game changer. This cute little store is in the H-Mart Market and once you walk in, its on the left side. You can't miss it! Very cool how this place is sort of like tucked away inside Hmart, a Korean supermarket. Although I've had better purple rice, this place was not bad for lunch considering they also provided a few side dishes. We decided to try this place since it came highly recommend for their flavorful dumplings. We were only about 15 minutes away from our hotel to this location, so we went to grab some food before we went to the beach. Even with their social distancing in place, we were satisfied with the food. We were a little bummed out because you can't sit in the dining area, like in many places, so you get your food to go. We got a combination of steamed and fried dumplings, and some dim sum. We ordered for 6 people, and we paid about $70. We had our own drinks we brought with us, but I don't think they'd have drink available to purchase if you wanted. I could maybe have missed it. We also ended up with leftovers, the food is so filling, and when you look at it you might not think it'll fill you up, but it did the trick! It took about 15 minutes to get our entire order, and we we're given our bags. We decided to eat our food in the car since we didn't want anything to get soggy, or lose it's fluff. The bags had everything we needed, sauces, Chop sticks, forks, napkins, and since we got them in closed styrofoam, we broke those and used them as plates. The food was great, i would has liked to see some chili to make it spicy, but this definitely hit the spot, and it was a sight worth seeing something so loved by the community and Yelp. We all just tasted everything in awe, since this was one of the places I've had on my bucket list for years. The flavor of the Wang Man Doo was just light, fluffy goodness, and the dumplings were so fresh. I can't wait to see if we get back to normal, and take another trip to dry more of their dumplings, and maybe some of their noodle soups! read more

This one is located inside the food court at the H mart. Enter thru the main door of the H mart and stay to the right, all the way. 1st time, had to call for the exact location. When I went there, it was before lunch and they were busy making the dumplings. I wanted to try the dumpling soup but dumpling had pork and had to pass that and settled with the vegi wang mandoo. 7 minutes later, I was served very hot plate of mandoo and two kinds of dipping sauce. Definitely worth the time traveling to this location from Irvine and it will be one of the stop over places from now on. read more

We weren't very hungry, so ordered only one menu item: Steamed (jjin) vegetable mandu (10). Super fresh (falling apart at first), and delicious. The women serving us was very friendly and welcoming. I wish we had been hungrier, because there were so many things on the menu that looked good, and it was clear based on this one item that they serve freshly made, delicious dumplings at reasonable prices. The only slight negative (besides the food court setting, which might turn off some people) was that they did not offer pan fried vegetable mandu, only steamed. This is a rating for the kimchi dumpling. At a glance, it appears like any humdrum dumpling (bao). After the first bite, i admit it has a strange taste that's hard to describe. After about 20-30 seconds, all the taste buds in my mouth just exploded. I must admit, this simple dumpling is full of exotic flavor with kimchi as the main seasoning. The dough is soft and chewy (not too dry or too dense)! It sure is an acquired taste but I highly recommend this! read more

Myung Dumpling was one of the places that popped up when i was on a search. When we arrived we noticed that it is actually INSIDE the H mart, so that made it a little difficult to find initially. When we finally found this place i noticed that there was very few veterinarian options. There was literally 1. So i had to choose that option. A short 5 minute wait, the dumplings and sauce was dropped off. Now for the dumplings..... I want to say that these dumplings were large, but that's an understatement. These dumplings were aggressive. And I was thinking to order another 4, but NO you are well fed on the 4 massive dumplings. The dumplings them selves were on the dry side, I'm sure that was because of how large it was. It was actually more on the bao side with how bready it was. So i wouldn't recommend the veggie dumplings if you're looking for a traditional dumpling. Other than that they have a lot of other options and the staff is helpful and polite. read more

You need to wait for them to steam and pan fry everything, so you'll be able to observe ladies hand folding, measuring and weighing each dumpling and Mandu as you wait. Note the Mandu is full of filling, not mainly bun, like some places. Really wish they had a sample platter, but they don't... so $49 later, I got to sample some of 5 types. Verdict: The spicy shrimp isn't spicy, but it's the most flavorful. The batch of the pan fried ones I got today were FULL of green onions. SMH. This dumpling spot is located in H Mart which is fine but I wish it stated that when I was looking for it on yelp. Made it rather difficult to locate. Anyway, it's located in a smaller than most H Mart with a lot of other small restaurants that have ramen, sushi, etc. When ordering I noticed most of their dumplings had some sort of pork which is kool for most but I refrain from pork so was hoping they had a veggie option or chicken. They had one veggie option which came with four dumplings. Ordered one to share with a friend who stated we should have both ordered another 4 but I wanted to see how we would like it before ordering more. GOOD GOLLY MISS MOLLY, it is a great thing we didn't order a second serving cuz those dumplings were aggressively large! I have never seen dumplings that big they were like the big Bertha of dumplings! They were good but heavy on the dumpling and lighter on the veggies inside. Between the two of us we only ate three and had to leave the fourth because we couldn't do it, it beat us! Fresh like a morning rain. Dumplings are cooked on the spot. I'm having a vegetable king dumpling (#6) and it makes my heart sing. It's hard to find veggie bao's. This one is a home run - great ratio of fillings to bao; bao is fluffy, fresh and contrasts beautifully with a medley of crunchy succulent veggies inside. No mush fillings! I can actually recognize the fillings I'm eating - mushrooms, squash, cabbage, glass noodle - none of which have lost their shape or springiness. If a bao could contain the freshness of a salad inside, it'd be this. Pro-tip: you can buy bags of frozen dumplings to take home too (they're also freaking good)! And the counter ladies are always lovely. It's in a food court so don't expect ambiance. Do expect greatness. read more

They always satisfy my savory cravings and because they are typically low in carbs, they make for guiltless pleasures too! #8 Fried Dumplings with Shrimp and Pork: it's hard to miss how fresh and high in quality the ingredients are. Pan fried just right, they come with a side salad of shredded cabbage, kimchi and dipping sauce. Every bite was crispy on the outside and steaming soft on the inside. #1 Wang Man Doo (aka mandu): They call this a dumpling too, but it's more like a better version of banh bao. Inside each moist, fluffy mandu is a balanced mix of ground pork, Korean sweet potato noodles, cabbage, shiitake mushrooms, chives, a dash of sesame oil and maybe onions? You can eat these without any extra seasonings IMO, but you do get a kimchi side to jazz it up if you like. They're a good size, 3 inches across, and perfect for a grab and go breakfast. Do note that this place is a no nonsense establishment: no frilly stuff, low-key, order-at-the-counter and eat at the communal food court with mismatched tables and chairs. Why the hype? I don't really get it. All these high reviews... why????? I came in on a Thursday evening with 5 other yelpers for dinner. Located in H Mart's food court area we found Myung. All their items were listed $7-$9.50. You need to spend over $10 if you want to use your card. I was able to try the following items and their description: Knife-Cut Noodle Soup with Seafood- This was so disappointing to me. It was a large bowl of mostly broth and their knife-cut noodles. It was so bland and barely any seafood. The seafood had like 5 pieces of tiny little shrimp and 3 clams. There were some greens floating on top and that was basically it. Not much flavor. Pork and Kimchi Bao- This was probably my favorite. Their baos are about $9 for 4. I don't like that you cannot buy individual baos. They only come in an order of 4. Way too much and is good if you want to share. The bao itself wasn't fluffy like I like. The meat inside was good though and each bao was fairly large. They give you vinegar sauce with it but I was hoping to be able to eat it without sauce. Dumplings with Pork, shrimp and chives- Also bland. They weren't bad but not worth mentioning. Shomai- I liked that the ingredients tasted fresh but also bland. These were so damn hot. I put it in my mouth and nearly died. I find all the food to be bland. Fresh? Yes. There's probably no MSG but there probably isn't much of any flavoring. Everything came out with some pickled appetizers and kimchi. I guess if you are in the area and are craving dumplings then by all means go get that fix. As for service, ya the guy and woman behind the counter were friendly but they didn't speak English. All last night during my graveyard shift I was craving Mondu. Since I have Fridays off I planned to hit Anna's Mondu today for lunch, but since I had this place bookmarked I figured I'd give it a shot...... oh my god I'm so glad that I did. I jumped in my car and drove a few minutes to Farmer's Market. I get out of my car and notice the market is completely empty.... as in nothing left. Gone, vacant. I get back in my car sad and about to drive to Anna's but I notice a banner saying "Remodeling". Just for the hell of it I walk in the store and head to the left to see if the food court is open. It was a complete ghost town but it was open!! HELL YEAH!!!! I walk up to the counter and order the #1 (four wang mondu) and hold up my finger to cross the language barrier. I also make a peace sign and say "2 Kimchee 2 meat please", she understood perfectly. Grand total was $7.50. It's 50 cents extra to get Kimchee mondu, well worth the charge. They prepare them in all varieties and cooking methods here, including steamed, fried, boiled or as a soup dish. They can even prepare them steamed, Chinese style (Shao Mai). I certainly have my biases and, to me, nothing compliments an order of dumplings better than some tasty kimchi to enjoy along with it. They're a perfect combination together! And the kimchi here is fresh. The soy sauce and vinegar soaked daikon radish and jalapeno peppers makes a perfect dipping sauce. The soups here are a pleasant surprise. The yukejang (spicy beef soup), in fact, was the best I've had in some time. The soup was hearty, loaded with shredded beef, scallions, soybean bean sprouts and egg. I enjoyed the savory, meaty, spicy flavor of the broth. While not quite on to the level of quality, in terms of taste and texture, of Myung Dong's mandu, Myung In Dumplings also makes their mandu fresh and made to order. And it was amazing! I honestly couldn't tell you what exactly i ate, i walked in and it went like this: Please give me two types of dumplings with no seafood. I got the #1 , which is the most popular and filling! The bread was fresh--- as I walked up I could see them making the dumplings on the spot, and the pork filling was delicious! I couldn't tell you everything that was in the dumplings ( and for 7 bucks you get four massive dumplings, enough to feed 2) but I can't wait to get that again. I also got a pot-sticker style dish as well with pork, it was amazing as well---- I think next time I'll try it fried. Its refreshing when you get some great customer service, the lady ( I'm sure she is one of the owners) knew my needs and I was able to eat plenty for about 15 dollars. The #4 was a small dumpling and I found it to be very tasty. I preferred them over the larger version. The #10 dumpling soup came piping hot, It had good broth.
