The portions here were huge!!! We ordered the bibim naengmyeon and the tonkatsu. The naengmyeon was delicious and I enjoyed how they had the ice slushee on the bottom. The spicy sauce was sweet savory and tangy which complemented the chewy noodles really well. We also got the tonkatsu and while I thought breading was very light and crispy, it was a little too salty for me. My dad and boyfriend wished the meat was thicker but I believe Korean tonkatsu is suppose to be thinner than Japanese tonkatsu. Hanuri was one of the few Korean restaurants that opened early enough and fit into our schedule on the day we were heading north to Magic Mountain. We went right at 9 AM and we were the only ones seated in the restaurant. It was a cozy space with not-so-modern-but-homey interior. Food was very comforting and tasty. We ordered sullungtang, kalguksu, and yukgaejang. They tasted homemade and we all thoroughly enjoyed the dishes. The side dishes were good as well. The water cups were paper cups and two of our cups leaked onto the table and we ended up getting wet a little. Other than that, overall, it was a good dining experience early in the morning. I basically never not get kongguksu if I ever see it on the menu. I love the nuttiness that comes from the blended soymilk and it comes not really seasoned so you can flavor it to your tastebuds. It's always so refreshing in the summer and the one at Hanuri did not miss! It was great and the noodles were perfectly al dente. Also, look at the banchan variety?! We went for an early dinner and it wasn't super busy but got busier when we left. Once we got seated we were given sides. They were all good and my favorite was their peanuts in a marinated sauce. For dinner, although we wanted to try everything, we got their Assorted Sausage Stew ($32) and their Pork Katsu ($19). The sausage stew was pretty good and I like their veggie and meat ratio. It even had ramen as well. The waitress gave us two bowls of rice with the stew. And the stew was on hot flame so it was hot the entire time. The Pork Katsu was a tad over fried but still really good. It had a yummy sauce on top and was served with some cabbage salad and rice. The serving size for both was pretty large and definitely shareable. We did not finish our food between both of us. We were both full and satisfied. The service was excellent. She kept checking up on us and adjusting the flame temperature to make sure our stew wouldn't burn. She also cut up large pieces of kimchi for us as well. This place is tucked away in the least exposed area of the city of Garden Grove. Without the GPS and Yelp, you'll never find this place. Upon entering this quaint and small restaurant, you'll notice the two ladies who will greet you as if they know you. The menu has pictures of the foods. The price is at least 20% cheaper. The nine free Banchan dishes are excellent. The two main dishes priced at $16-17 dollars each came out quickly and in abundance. The Bibimbop and Gookbop are absolutely great. They normally add anchovy bits into your broth so if you want a normal flavor, ask them not to add it Banchan - the server gives you a lot, seriously it's very generous and they're all very good. I moved to OC not too long ago from koreatown to Anaheim Hills so I am not near many good food places. My craving for korean food was very real and I am so happy to have found this place. It was a hot day so I was craving some naengmyun and I saw they had this on the menu so I wanted to try. The gf was in the mood for hot soup and bossam and this place had it all. The place was cozy and glad it wasn't busy at the time so we got seated right away. We were greeted by a friendly ajumma who let us sit wherever. I felt comfortable practicing my very very limited korean here which seemed to be welcomed. I was excited to see they served doganitang which is my favorite hot soup so I made my gf order this to get her fill for hot soup. Needless to say she throughly enjoyed it. Shes never had naengmyun before either but when she tried mine she wanted to trade which is fine since i wanted both anyways. The naengmyun was soo good that you don't need to add vinegar or hot mustard. I do like it a bit sour and tangy so i added a little bit for my own preference but i do recommend enjoying the broth first as is before including the additions. The bossam was the star of the show. It was such a big serving and i loved they left a good portion of the pork belly fat on there. Being filipino, i loved to eat pork fat and this made the dish much more enjoyable. I saw some other stuff on the menu I wanted to try but I stuffed myself already. I am definitely coming back here to try my other favorites. Nice, little mom and pop Korean shop hidden away in a plaza off of Garden Grove Ave. It wasn't busy when we arrived, but slowly filled up by the time we left on a Saturday night. Between the three of us, we ordered the Pork Back-Bone Stew ($17.99), Ox Bone Soup ($15.99), and Spicy Cold Buckwheat Noodles ($15.99). The ox bone soup is pretty simple as you add the salt, vinegar, mustard, and pepper for flavoring. There wasn't much ingredients in there though. I enjoyed the flavor and tender meat of the pork back bone stew, but didn't like the veggies in this. The cold noodles were a huge bowl and always so refreshing to eat. The contrast between spicy and cold is a unique balance in your mouth. Overall, the dishes were all pretty standard for me, as I enjoyed their banchans most. It's straight across from one of go-to that is now unfortunately closed :( but the quality of this restaurant is amazing! I went out of my comfort zone to dine-in alone for the first time and the ajumma was so kind! Great banchans that are re-fillable. I especially love their radish kimchi and beansprouts. I also asked for purple rice and they do have it available yayy! I ordered the gochujang jjigae. Have never tried it before but it's one of the best soup I've ever had! Their galbi tang is very different from other places from how much egg is in it but it was still really yummy, the meat one their bones was probably the most I've ever gotten and I've had a lot of galbi tang, huge plus for me! A total hidden gem. Located in a small lot, this cozy little restaurants is simple and delicious. I came in at 10:30am on a Saturday and was greeted by a friendly auntie. The tomato and one was also very good. My sujebi came shortly after and I was SHOOK at how huge the bowl was. This bowl of sujebi can easily feed 2-3 people.
