We came here on a Wednesday evening. It was not busy. We were kinda hungry to though to get some dishes and share. First time to order and eat here. Super simple, the cashier took our order, we paid, wait about 10mins and it's ready. As we stated we will share the dishes, she found us in the public seating area and brought the food to us. And she brought bowls and utensils for us as well. This is awesome. I love hainan chicken so this was perfect! Chicken was juicy and the 3 sauces accent it. The chicken wings were seasoned well and not over cooked. Enjoyed how quick and easy it was the moment we decided what we wanted to eat. Everyone had a bit of everything.

My boyfriend and I were wandering around Rodeo 39 for lunch and snacking. As we made our loop around to see all of the businesses, Chic Now was one of the spots that caught our eyes. There were a lot of customers waiting and there was a good combo deal. We got the GGG Combo ($18.98) which comes with their best selling Hainan Chicken Rice, a side of the Chicken Broth, and a Sugarcane drink. My boyfriend opted for the lychee sugarcane. It did take a while to prepare, so if you are ordering from multiple spots, I recommend putting this order in first. It's probably because they're busy but at least you know the food is fresh. The Hainan chicken rice here comes with the traditional rice cooked with chicken broth and the 3 dipping sauces. The soy sauce was good, chili sauce didn't have ginger unlike other similar spots, and the ginger sauce was a little salty. The sauces really have a big effect on meals like this, but it was overall decent. The chicken broth was very pure but bland. It could use more seasoning but it might just be their take on how chicken broth should be. Overall we felt like their Hainan chicken is not as good as Savoy, but better than Cluck2Go. As for the sugarcane drink with lychee. It was too too sweet. Even as the ice melted down it was too sweet. My boyfriend said I made a grossed out face when he ordered it... haha... oops. I normally like both of those flavors individually but together I can see them being 2 overly sweet ingredients. Better pairings for the sugarcane drink is definitely the kumquat, but they were out of it, and I also see the calamansi. An acidic or sour flavor would better cut through the natural sweetness of sugarcane. Overall a good value pic among the many options at Rodeo 39. I don't mind sharing it with the boyfriend if he wants to come back.

Came on a Friday night & there was no wait at all. Got the Hainan chicken to try & it was delicious! The chicken was so juicy & it came with a side soup. I do wish they had a fried version though like other Hainan places. So, what we did, was order the katsu at shootz. It was a delicious combo!

This chain resto surprised me!! Here in the area for business and was craving something light for Dash door delivery to my hotel. And came across this place coz I love Hainanese chicken rice!! The food was so fresh, great portion but definitely still ordered some extra dark meat chicken and extra scallion ginger sauce (this was full of umami). The yellow rice was great and it comes with 3 sauces which one was this sweet soy sauce which was a great balance to the ginger scallion one and u can also pour it on your rice. Highly recommend this place and it won't break your wallet!!

This is a strictly take out place in the Rodeo 39 food court but it was a beautiful day and the outdoor seating was very nice (indoor seating was also available). Our food was ready within a few minutes. We ordered Hainan chicken with rice and Stir fried bok choy. We were a little nervous because we cannot specify dark meat vs white meat, maybe we should have asked. We had the choice of with skin and without skin. What came out was a mixture of deboned white and dark and it was all delicious. The rice was also very good. It came with chicken broth, a few slices of cucumber and three sauces. I liked the chili and scallion sauces. If you like a lot of vegetables I recommend the bok choy side order. All in all a nice experience. I have never been to Singapore but my guess is Chic Now is quite authentic to the hawker style of that island.

Had the sugar cane coconut water and hainan chicken rice with chicken broth. Loved the sauces! Chicken was well cooked and flavorful. The broth was good on its own. It's a good meal especially when recovering from a cold. Service was very fast and love that it had its own seating. Would go back!

Looked like the healthiest choice compared to other food spots at Rodeo39, so I decided to give it a try. Haven't had Hainan chicken in years, which my friend's mom used to make us, so expectations may have been too high. Overall, the price for the Hainan chicken meal (no combo) and quantity of food was reasonable. The chicken was a bit bland, as well as the broth, but the ginger scallion sauce saved the day. So yummy. Rice was good too with decent portions. I'd want this again only if I was sick or trying to eat better, but not sure if I would crave it. Give it a try! I was satisfied overall and enjoyed my meal.

I absolutely LOVE the hainan chicken over rice here! The rice is super rich and flavorful and the chicken is super moist and very consistent every single time I've gone here. I took my mom here yesterday and she loved it so much. We are back the next day. If you love, hainam chicken over rice you have to try this place if you're in OC.

I really love Hainan chicken because of the simple light flavor. Between all the food vendors in Rodeo 39, I opted for Chic Now because I wanted a sugar cane drink and thought their combo would be an excellent value. They were relatively busy but service was fast. I like to try the chicken on its own before dipping in the sauce and found that Chic Now is very mild in flavor. The chicken was perfectly tender, both with and without skin. However, the rice and chicken really needed to be paired with the sauces and broth for the best flavor. The green onion and ginger sauce was really good. I think the soy sauce had a bit of sweetness to it. I didn't try the spicy sweet sauce because it usually tends to be too sweet for me. I opted for the regular sugarcane but sized up for $1 more. It was really sweet but once the ice melted, it was better balanced.

Hainan special combo with signature skin and pure sugar cane juice and extra signature skin chicken on the side.

Located in Rodeo 39 food hall, it is a must goto to hit the spot for a treat of Hainan chicken rice dish. Get the combo to get the delicious pure sugar cane drink. The broth is always included with the three sauces that makes it stand out. I normally order and eat at Rodeo 39 which has lots of seating. This time I ordered at home for take back to the family. Just be aware that their website automatically includes a tip that you are not aware unless you check the very last screen when checking out. This is very deviant of the owners to automatically charge 10-15% more off your total bill.

Edit to add that this is a woman-owned business, which we love to support! One of the newer stalls at Rodeo 39 that offers a classic meal rather than the fusion/modern dishes you see at this food court. My bestie and I were looking for something that we hadn't tried yet at Rodeo 39 and decided to give this food spot a chance. We came around 11:30am on a random weekday so it wasn't busy at all. No wait, but you can order ahead of time with the QR code by the cash register if someone isn't there to immediately help you! Food came out in about 15 minutes. They had minimalistic decor with cute mural artwork of a Hainan chicken meal on the wall by their tables & chairs! What we got: -Hainan Chicken Rice (Signature & Skinless): I love the chicken skin! Comes with the chicken, rice, cucumbers, soup, and three different sauces. My favorite sauce was the ginger scallion sauce (green), followed by the sweet soy sauce. The chili sauce was used for my leftovers! The ginger scallion sauce complemented the chicken and rice very well. However, I will say that my friend and I thought that the rice was less flavorful than we expected given the price point (~$16 including tax). Thankfully the sauce gave the umami that we wanted. We enjoyed our meal otherwise! If I ever find myself back in Rodeo 39, I might get their combo meal to try their sugar cane drink!

Glad that the mature Rodeo39 food hall complex is still capable of attracting new business, and a Hainan Chicken spot in this area of Orange County is just the thing for revitalization! Staff is always smiling and welcoming you to try their food which I appreciate. Ambiance is casual. Although the Hainan chicken itself, is mid (disappointing) -- the rice is really done well and the savory ginger sauce really pairs well. Chicken wings are fairly decent for being baked and are super flavorful. Would return here again soon for a quick lunch pickup during those stressful WFH days!

We ordered the Papaya Salad, Garlic Chicken Rolls and their Beef Jerky Special. We had a lovely conversation with the owner and she gave us special instructions on how to eat everything, such as eating the jerky with a small ball of sticky rice and sauce, followed by a mouthful of papaya salad as a palate cleanser--We followed those instructions to a T and it was truly enjoyable! For impressions of each Entree: The Papaya Salad is incredible, we ordered it with a mild spice level sauce. It's light, flavorful and refreshing and serves as a perfect palate cleanser if you order it with another item, but having it on its own is perfectly fine as well. The Garlic Chicken Roll was fantastic, crispy roll and tender chicken on the inside. It came with a sweet dipping sauce that had a flavor we weren't expecting but a nice surprise. The Beef Jerky Special: I absolutely love the idea of the beef jerky with a crispy-charred outer shell. My critique would be to dial back the charred-ness a little bit so that it doesn't dominate the center flavor. It goes perfectly well with the sticky rice and the sauce it comes with is really nice. Really great establishment with great customer service, I look forward to visiting again!

I LOVE THIS PLACE…read more Don't let the simple decor fool you - the chicken here is hands down one of the best hole in the wall locations for chicken that I've been to. Unlike your typical rotisserie or fried chicken, this place roasts their chicken in a large clay pot and the marinade is definitely not something that you can find easily. The smell of the chicken is so inviting on its own but you won't be able to smell it outside of the restaurant - gather some confidence and open that door! We got 1 whole chicken, bot chien, crispy rice, and a side of dry noodles. All of the sides are great - I've tried at least 1 option every time I come back here but my favorite is the dry noodles and crispy rice. Their chicken pairs TOOO WELL with the pickled veggies and their special soy sauce. I like mixing a little salt, pepper and lime in mine to make it extra sour but honestly, the chicken is great even without the sauce. It's a small restaurant and flagging down servers is not difficult but I love that they will come to check in on you pretty often without you putting out any effort. Sat down looked over the menu, pretty straightforward. Service was lovely, a little bit of language barrier but good nonetheless. We started with the Bot chien ( crispy rice cake with egg.) She asked if there was pork in the dish and they said no, she can't eat pork. It came out and it looked fantastic, looked like an omelet. I love eggy dishes! This was fantastic, definitely add a sauce like Sambal or Sriracha. We were off to a great start! But we came for the star of the show, Clay jar chicken with dry noodles!!! They set the bowls down and everything looked fantastic and smelled even better! A generous bowl of egg noodles, chicken and a side of broth in case you want to dip or just throw it in the bowl. We got to grubbin and it was instant love at first bite! The chicken was so tender and flavorful. We noticed these little cubes of tasty bits, we didn't know what they were because we didn't see it on the description, she already had a piece, we thought it was some sort of crispy bread crumb bits LOL. We asked the service and come to find out, it was crispy pork called Top Mo. We told them she can't have pork, they took the plate back. After a few minutes they came back. She asked is it a new dish or did you just pick them out. They picked them out. This is where the language barrier came into play. They didn't understand for a bit. I said she can't have pork because of her religion. That's when it clicked! Thank the Lord! Out came a fresh porkless new bowl and she could enjoy with me.
