Star Certified Smog across the street. Don't go to N&K.

I really wish I could have left a positive review. I brought my 2003 Dodge Viper here 2 years ago and had a great experience. They didn't have to put it onto the dyno. I pulled my car to the front of the shop where they plugged it in and did what I thought was a thorough inspection. I will include a photo from back then with my Viper being inspected. Back then I also brought my 2013 BRZ and also had a great experience. Both car passed with no issues and customer service was good. It seems since then they have lost the good employees and managers. As a car guy I want to take my cars to people I trust. I brought my Viper in today to get a smog check and was approached by a younger guy who said he wanted to drive my Viper into the shop. I let him know that I was the only person insured in the vehicle and I would like to at least drive the car into the shop. Also, Vipers are not the easiest cars to drive and if this kid damaged my car, the repairs would be a nightmare. The kid said ok just pull your car up front. When I pulled my car up front I was approached by the manager, I think. He said if he can't drive your car into the shop then leave. I let him know I was a returning customer and last time everything was great. I want to support this place. He waved his hand toward the street and said leave. We are fortunate to have plenty of smog places around. I literally went across the street to Star Certified Smog and they were super helpful. They didn't have to put it on the Dyno. N&K lost a loyal customer to the people across the street. If you have an exotic or love your car I would not go here. Cheers!

They got to my car quickly enough but claimed I failed the test for my gas cap so told me to come back. I bought a new gas cap and came back, this time the owner told me both the gas cap and emissions test failed. He claimed I must have tampered with the engine between the two tests. Hard to believe his unsupported claim. He would not give me my money back or a retest. I called BAR and they sent an inspector over. N & K screwed up, but It still left me out of luck to get compensation. By the way, I got my smog check done somewhere else the next day and everything passed with flying colors. Nor did they tell me I tampered with the engine or bought a faulty gas cap from Autozone. read more

I worry about taking some of my high-end vehicles to places I do not know as quite often I get judged and the shop sees dollar signs and try to take advantage of me. In the case of N & K, I chose that shop because of the reviews alone and in my opinion they thoroughly deserve their 5 star ratings!! I was treated with respect, the service was polite and fast and the price was just a bonus. I HIGHLY recommend N & K and after being ripped-off at other smog places, I will be taking all of my cars here in the future. Brought my car here for it's Smog test on 12/26/17. I was greeted at my car right after I pulled up. Test took about 10 minutes. All total about 15 minutes and I was on my way! The staff was friendly and polite. I will be bringing my car back again when it's time to smog test again! Well worth the $45! read more

The technician is always friendly & polite. I've been bringing all of my vehicles here for many years. They offer a great price and coupons on the website. They currently aren't STAR certified as they have to smog a certain amount of vehicles after the installation of the new equipment. He said they hope to have the STAR status back in a month so I recommend calling first. On my last vehicle he referred me to another shop that was STAR. Today I was in and out within 15 minutes. read more

It's my first time coming here because I am new to Riverside and my coworker recommended me this place. He really like how your services went. Sadly, It is now 8:30 AM. And the hours said for today is at 8 AM to 2 PM. So I don't like to be wasting my time waiting for someone to open the business. I have so much things to do. And I have to find new place and make it next weekend. Not happy camper!!!!! And more people are coming and waiting.... not so good way for your business. I called in due to great ranking on Yelp. He said its walk in only and they weren't busy at that moment. I drove over and got out of my car at 11:10. He greeted me at my car quoted me $45 and took my dmv form. He asked me to sit and wait in their waiting area. A few minutes later he asked me to fill out a form. He then asked me to step to the window and pay the $45 (SUV). I got back in my car to leave with everything I needed at 11:18. 8 minute smog check is how I like spending my Saturday! read more

Great service! I knew I would like them when they did an OBDll scan on my car prior to the smog test. They didn't want to waste my money. Nobody, I mean nobody has ever done that! Maybe today is my very unlucky day. I called and asked how much for a smog check. The guy said 45 bucks. Ok, drove here, sat and wait for 15 minutes. It's 4:05 pm and the tech came out and told me he can't check my car because the power went out 10 minutes earlier and it would take 30 minutes to restart their machine. Wasting my time! So disappointed. It's Friday afternoon so they probably just want to go home instead of checking my car. read more

Place wasn't to busy. Was helped by David who seemed nice enough. It's $45 for basic smog. Be careful to print out coupon from their website because they DONT give you the discount without it "printed out". (Aka you can't just show them it on your phone, idk why, it's 2017 afterall right?) read more

Went to the business at 8:05am on Saturday Jan 7 and the doors were closed. I waited until 8:15am and still no one was at the business. I called a couple of times in hopes that the calls were forwarded or someone would pick up, but to no avail. Posted hours might be posted wrong here, but at least have a voicemail set up on up ur business line explaining your hours. read more

Great, fast service, friendly staff!! I did some research on local smog test shops and found N & K had great reviews so I decided to give it a shot. I called and received a quote of $40 "out the door." Sure enough, when I got there it was indeed $40 total, no sneaky charges. There were 3 cars in front of me when I arrived and one of the guys let me know it would be about 30 minute wait, which isn't bad for 3 cars. 30 minutes later my car was up, they were done with it in about 12-15 minutes and I had my "pass" certificate! The staff guys were friendly the entire time. Going to recommend this place to my family and friends, and I'll be back when my car is due for a check again. read more

Straight up legit smog check. Good pricing and no BS. Fast service and nicest most honest people. They are what smog check is all about. Getting it right. they dont do the repairs but will help you figure it out if you are a do it yourself er. Retest is free. Very fair. They also do diesel at the same price as gas. Who likes to get their car smog tested. I don't. I always dread that it won't pass, and it will take a long time. I was told the test would take 15 minutes; they were done in 10! And, the best part, is that my car passed! I gave them 4 out of 5 as the waiting area needs a bit of a scrub. read more

I went for a smog check today and had a coupon. They honored the price and as u can see from the other reviews, they have amazing customer service. I went by myself and felt very comfortable and they did everything to help me get out of there quick! I know there isn't any pictures that anyone has posted so I went with the intention of taking a picture but my phone died :/ but the place it legit and have amazing customer service! I needed a Star smog for an Old 1989 GMC Sierra. Looked on the internet for a shop in my neighborhood. I respect small shop owners and love giving back to my Community. And this Shop has the New Smog Machine that the State requires. Prices are Great! David the Smog Tech. Was Great. It's in the back of another auto shop, incase you don't see it right away. They offer a $32 service for expediting payment for the registration same day, but if you have a computer at home, you won't need that. All-in-all, a quick appointment, and unavoidable, but I would definitely come back if or when (probably next year). Pro tip: Fill up your tank and use a fuel injector cleaner from Autozone or O'Reilly's. Most importantly though, if your check engine light is on, you won't pass.

I Have been to N & K Smog and have been calling this place to get a smog check for my Ford and have been getting the run around that there machine is broke and will not be fixed for a week and that was last week! Well I looked on the state smog check web site www.smogcheck.ca.gov and went to Find a Smog Check Station to find another smog station and I see N & K Smog Test Only License has been REVOKED. This place must be very shady and I will never take any of my vehicles there if there. If there License has been revoked they must not run a reputable and moral smog business. I hope you and your family will not support business like these that take advantage and rip off their customers and do not obey the law. There are reasons why there License has been revoked please stay away from bad business like this one! read more

These guys are great. I've been coming here for a few year now. My car kept having the "service engine light" coming on, so it wouldn't pass the smog check. They noticed that the light was on, and informed me that my car would fail the test. They didn't want to charge me for a test that I would fail. That impressed me. They could of just taken my money and let me fail the test, but they wanted me to pass it. These guys are nice and friendly and get you out as fast as they can. I'll continue to get my SMOG Check at N & K. read more

Great service and great people! I stumbled upon it while looking for a STAR certified station and they didn't disappoint. Even when my car didn't initially pass, they were extremely helpful with pointing me in the right direction to get the issue fixed, as well as retesting my car for free. I will certainly be back next time I need a smog check! read more

I came here after another SMOG shop took forever to help me out. The guy was very supportive and helped me get in and out within 30 minutes and charged less than the other place. I have sent two friends and they both said the same thing about the work at this smog shop. Two thumbs up. read more

I'm never coming here again. The "owner" tells me I have an "attitude." Really? Here's my current "attitude": Not coming back here . Hundreds of smog shops everywhere. Why would I put up with this clown? Go elsewhere. What a JERK! read more

I called several places, since they offer coupons. However, David's price is better than the best coupon price I found. David is courteous and patient. I highly recommend him, and I will definitely have my cars tested there in future. read more
