I had a really great experience today with NJ Plumbing. They didn't ask me to write anything so this is purely at my own will. I don't write many reviews, but these guys deserve one. I reached out to two other plumbers. One, I reached out to yesterday and they didn't get back to me until today. That plumber came out and gave me an estimate and it was outrageous! I called NJ and they were at my home less than an hour later!! I spoke to Johanna on the phone and she was really friendly and genuine. She was upfront with a guess to the cost. I already knew what the issue was, I just needed a professional to fix it. 45 minutes later, Nestor and Tony were at my place. They were both really friendly and personable. And, they liked my dogs, which is a bonus! Who doesn't like it when people like your kids? :) They were both very down to earth, genuine, and honest. I enjoyed watching and learning as they fixed my issue. They also educated me a little bit, which was nice. In the end, they charged me a little less than quoted, which was also really appreciated. Their price was so much more reasonable than some other larger companies in the San Mateo area. I had such a good experience, I'll be calling them again to install a filter system in my home next. Terrific Plumber!!! I wanted to share what a great experience I had with NJ Plumbing. Recently, Fadi and Eric from NJ replaced a 40 ft. Section of drain line under my house. Not an easy or pleasant job but these two worked incredibly hard, going above and beyond my expectations. I was extremely pleased with the end result and also with the way they kept me informed of what they were doing and why. Fadi also shared some of his extensive knowledge and gave us some great tips about how to avoid drain issues in the future. I have no hesitation recommending NJ Plumbing. I called NJ Plumbing to have someone look at our water heater that was off after our garage got flooded from the bathroom above. I assumed it may have shorted out. NJ Plumbing was willing to come right out to look at it but before they confirmed an appointment, Joanne walked me through the re-lighting of the pilot light to see if that was all I needed to do. Now I have already tried it but she walked me through the process again. That worked, and saved me a service call. I appreciate their help and not just booking a service call for a fee. My kitchen faucet suddenly had no water pressure. Called NJ Plumbing and Fadi came out to help me. Fadi is SO thorough and really did his best to solve the problem so that I wasn't left without a working kitchen sink while the shelter in place order was coming down! The more he analyzed the situation the more issues he spotted, including backed up gunk in the line from the dishwasher to the garbage disposal. He took extra time to teach me how to prevent that sort of buildup in the future, he solved all the problems and got me all squared away. He was even a good sport about my 8 month old 179 pound Mastiff puppy stealing his plumbers tape and tools throughout the job! What a super nice guy! I never leave Yelp reviews but I felt it was important to let people with plumbing emergencies know how bad my experience was with Nick. After reading all the 5 star reviews here and recommendations on Nextdoor, I decided to call Nick to come out to check on my leaking shower. We scheduled a time for him to come out but he never showed up. I called him and left a message that evening asking him if he was still going to come out that day. I got a text message in response saying he was caught up on another job, he was apologetic. I fully understand since he has so many great reviews, he must be a busy plumber! So we scheduled for him to come out two days later. I had to leave work early again to wait for him and again he no showed. Not a phone call, not a text message, nothing! Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. I get that things can come up but it is UNPROFESSIONAL and a LACK of common courtesy to not contact me if he is going to be late or not show up. A complete WASTE of my time and a non-functioning shower waiting on him to show up. I still haven't heard from him and it's been a week. Nick might be a great plumber but I would never know that. Tried to get the faucets and shower hardware replaced on an older shower. Called 3 other plumbers that were rated highly yelp but they all fell short ranging from no return calls to "forgetting" about the job after they came out the first time and had the job scheduled and we were ready to move forward. Fadi came out and was obviously knowledgeable and spent time describing the solution rather than spending the whole time telling me how hard the job was going to be. I am very impressed with Nick Judd. He was very nice and professional, both on the phone and in person. He arrived on time and assessed how long the work would take him. His rates were extremely reasonable, and they actually finished more than half hour earlier than expected. The work was done properly and neatly. They put down moving pads on the hardwood floor while working on the kitchen sink. They were also very neat and clean in the bathroom. They cleaned up after themselves. We returned from a family vacation, to find our water heater was leaking and making a very disturbing humming sound. The tank itself was less than 2 years old and still under warranty. The installation and labor however would be at our cost. I did call and get some scary estimates and then found a review for NJ Plumbing. I spoke to Nick, who was very helpful and said he would be over in 20 minutes. Nick came over, quickly assessed the problem, got a replacement and installed the new tank in a matter 2 hours. I heard about Nick Judd from neighbors on the Nextdoor app when researching who to call to help with a leak under the kitchen sink. I called Nick on Friday and his crew was already working in SF for the day. They could come after (depending onetime of when they finished) or he could come on Saturday. I opted for Saturday morning at 8. Promptly at 8 am, Tim showed up and easily figured out what was happening. He replaced two hoses and a T joint and tested everything out in about an hour. Nick and his crew are amazing. Exchanged texts with Nick for a couple of days to let him know what we need done. Nick sent Eric to do the job. Eric was professional and very respectful. We needed a fireplace gas pipe cut off but that turned out not to be ideal so quickly changed direction by replacing the pipe altogether. Eric got it all done quickly and very cleanly. Just wanted to give a shout-out to NJ Plumbing. My garbage disposal decided to die, and water was leaking out of it like crazy. I had to empty a bucket every time I used the sink! I contacted them Tuesday late afternoon, and they were there the next day at 11:45 a.m. Nick and Eric got right to work, and did a three hour job in a little over an hour. Is it ever a good thing when you need to call a plumber? I noticed a small puddle in front of the toilet this morning right after a shower. I pulled my hair up and let my landlords know what I found. It was about 10am. We called NJ Plumbing hoping for a miracle. We were told they would come 2-4. They called at 2:05 to apologize they were running late. Fadi and Eric showed up a few minutes later. They were able to diagnose what the issue was and were up front with the cost, which was refreshing. Fadi & Eric were amazing as they explained what the issue was as well as how to prevent it in the future. Fadi also shared how common the issue was in the area. I have been intending to write this review for some time - so I will make it quick and easy: these guys were great. Here's why - we had a leaking relief valve. They came by and installed a new valve. It kept leaking. I called them back and Nick came in and recognized that we had a regulator hooked up to reduce the pressure coming in from the city. This created a need for an expansion tank on the hot water heater (slight deduction for not noticing in the first place that this would be needed), so we agreed to have that installed. Still leaking. Inspected the whole tank and determined there were small cracks forming. It wasn't busted, but it might any day. Nick gave me a quote, taking into consideration what we had already put into the project. It compared favorably to two other companies we considered. But, we didn't want to spend the money at that time. I told Nick, and he said it wouldn't be a problem and to call him when we were ready. Six months later, we were. One call to set up the day. One morning to swap in the new unit (with improvements). One check for the exact amount Nick quoted six months earlier. The job was clean, quick, works as promised and expected, and we were charged a fair price. No complaints from me. I would highly recommend NJ Plumbing for any need you might have. read more

Honest responsive guys I described the problem on my water heater and they quoted $225 but came out and saw it was a simpler fix and charged me less at $175. They could have charged me $225 and I would not have been the wiser. And then they told me how to prevent problems in the future. Nick the manager is efficient and personable and he was able to fix it the same day so we can have hot water right away. The other companies had to wait 1-2 days for parts. Nick has saved us again. This time our sewer line which is old was clogged and my contractor had me believing that i needed to update the whole line for $6000. Nick came with a snake, blader hose and camera and help us pin point the exact problem area. After 30mins he said he could fix the problem the next day for $800. Fadi of NJ Plumbing came out to replace a badly leaking cast iron sewer pipe in the crawl space. Fadi did a very good job, but the price was outrageous. $200 in parts and $1100 in labor for a 3 hour job. That's $350/hr. We are all in the wrong business. read more

I got 3 estimates to replace my water heater. NJ plumbing was by far the most knowledgeable. They also listened to me, not that I know a ton about water heaters. I was looking for solutions to help avoid replacing our water heater so regularly and they suggested and installed a thermal expansion tank. Nick and his team are true professionals and couldn't be more thoughtful. A few months ago Nick had installed a gas line to replace a wood burning fireplace. The work was timely and cost was very reasonable. The past weekend I found a gas leak under the house at 9pm on a Sunday night. PG&E shut off the gas that night and said to call a plumber. I left a message for Nick that night and by 7:30am Monday received a call back, and by 8:10am someone was at our house fixing the gas line. The work was complete and PG&E had the gas back on by the time I got home from work. It doesn't get better. read more
