The environment is awesome. They have a Combat Center field, and a Scenario Field, and they alternate play, so if you really wanted to, you can play non-stop. Currently Combat Center has a Middle Eastern/ Arabian theme going full with foreign McD's posters shot full of holes. I hear the Scenario Field has a Mid-West theme going. You get a discount for going early on weekend mornings, or if you are military/ industry. I love playing with real buildings, where you can climb stairs, hide behind abandoned cars, and hide behind curtains. It really adds an element to the gameplay. Even the staging area has vehicles and pipes for a military feel. It's also great how they have enough refs to keep games going, constantly. They are good at having game after game after game. I didn't like how they had Scenario games, in the middle, and closed off Combat Center for half an hour, though. I took a nap during this time. It is also a very woman friendly, and kid friendly park. I love seeing female refs, and clean facilities! Great job on being equal opportunity, and representing all groups! I did not enjoy how around 3:00-4:00 the park started getting really crowded, and they started doing campaigns where buildings were off limit. It's really much too crowded to limit where people can hide. It ruins gameplay. Most recently, I went on a Saturday, and the cheating was incredibly bad. Switching fields did not help, and the refs did not seem to know how to stop it. After a bunch of people left because of how bad the cheating got, the ref closed off all buildings. THIS DEFEATS THE PURPOSE OF GOING TO COMBAT CENTER. It became UNPLAYABLE because bands were not calling hits. I had experienced team members, and industry members, and there was only 1-3 people on the other team calling hits. Some of us hit some of their members multiple times in the same game, and those people kept playing, and when we complained to the refs, they told us "oh no, them again?" like they weren't sure what to do about it.

The prices are very reasonable as well. The inside is clean and the bathroom. They are cool with letting you bring boba in which is cool because they have two boba places in the same plaza. Good community of gamers each time i've been which is nice because sometimes the crowd can ruin the experience. Parking is never an issue either.

10/4/25 Saturday We…read morearrived around 6:45 PM and stayed for about an hour. There were a lot of vendors, but only some of them served dumplings, so the event name is a little misleading. The $60 pass only gets you unlimited beer, not dumplings. Only tried one dumpling truck and it has mostly typical flavors we could get elsewhere. Not to mention it took one hour for us to get our food. Parking near the venue filled up quick, but there is another lot a short walking distance away with plenty of spots. However, the entrance and exit is the same spot and only allows one car to pass, so be careful. Free performance near the blossom hall and on the other end of the festival, there is a live DJ and Kids Zone. No entrance fee for this festival, thankfully.

He spent time helping the kids, teaching them how to play different games, and making sure everyone felt included and had fun. His enthusiasm and patience really made the experience special. The arcade itself is amazing, with something for everyone--PlayStation, Nintendo, retro arcade classics, Guitar Hero, VR experiences, and so much more. The variety kept the kids entertained for hours, and even the adults found themselves jumping into the fun! Crossing my fingers that they keep the SGV location since there's so much free parking nearby (residential parking or in the large shopping plazas nearby) and SO SO MUCH good food and shopping all around (I mean you'd know this if you attended my panel or checked out my collection list!). I'm going to preface this with the fact that I've been going to PMX since it was held at the LAX location and I still have memories of that weekend that I cherish until now AND some friends that I have made there that are still my friends up until this day. I will say, PMX was my favorite convention in the past since they ALWAYS had really great guests and programming. They had visual kei and J-rock musical guests that had me excited to attend each time (UchuSentai:Noiz, D, Moon Stream), as well as many overseas fashion designers (Gashicon of Hangry & Angry, Atelier-Pierrot, Baby the Stars Shine Bright, Alice and the Pirates, Takuya Angel, Juliette et Justine, etc.). I remember getting endless free boxes of strawberry Pocky, going to Animaid's shows, finding affordable treasures at their regular AND fashion swap meets. The early 2010's was truly a golden age. FUN FACT: Ai Cherie was one of the PMX musical guests and is the same Cherie on the Netflix series, "Bling Empire"! I'll be honest and say that the move to Pasadena Con Center and subsequently to the even smaller Glendale hotel location really did damage their attendee count and a lot of interest in attending. Especially the year in Glendale when they had less than 10 vendor & artist tables and no fashion guests (fully decked out lolita with no panel or anything to go to just sat in the lobby in confusion). However! Seeing all the effort that this year's organizers put in has really made me hopeful that PMX will be restored to its prime and beyond! Although PMX has gone back to its roots as a small hotel con, there was a good amount of vendors and artists that filled up the hall, interesting programming, a GOOD amount of fashion designers, and enough entertainment to have something going on at all times. On the last day, the vendor's hall was open to everyone after 2 PM regardless of having a badge or not and the itasha display on the garage floor was a great touch and smart idea to handle the use of space. Having it in the swanky Sheraton definitely helped as well. Hoping to see more fashion guests from abroad and to bring some J-rock/Visual Kei bands from overseas as well (if any PMX organizers are reading this COUGHCOUGHNUDGENUDGEWINKWINK) and the revival of their swap meet. Definitely a fun and affordable con with lots to do there and around!

This convention just keeps getting smaller. Now, that's not to say that I haven't found it fun each time for one reason or another. PMX also offers little cosplay and anime-related gatherings throughout the year, which is more than most cons can say. As I recall, PMX was started as a direct competitor with Anime Expo, being held Memorial Day weekend in 2004 in Anaheim (in the same venue AX was held annually). Unlike AX, which of course focuses on Asian animation (though they've been known to host their share of video game and J-rock/J-pop industry folks), PMX opened it up to all Asian and Pacific Islander arts and entertainment. It's the only convention I've ever attended that opened the floor to the independent Asian-American film circuit, and that's definitely something special. They frequently bring in anime creators and voice actors. Nabeshin has definitely been a fan favorite. For the last few years they hosted a Filipino fighting competition that gets rather exciting to watch. They hold many concerts, panels, fashion shows, and other events. This past year they were excited to announce attracting Korean entertainers and movie exclusives (gave a REALLY long preview of "The Warrior's Way"). PMX, despite its shrinking, still attracts a good number of cosplayers and artists. It has a MASSIVE lolita following. Their dealer hall is definitely much, much smaller than it used to be. What once took up the space of an airplane hangar is now housed in a tiny ballroom that seems smaller than that which was available in the LAX Hilton. PMX is a decent con to attend if you're not interested in the crowds you might find at AX. With how much smaller its gotten its more on par with Anime Los Angeles, held in hotels in the LAX vicinity. It's going in reverse of your typical con it seems. It started out in the convention center with the crowds curious about the big con feel, and now it's taking up hotel ballrooms, building a fanbase of tight-knit groups of otaku and fan organizations. In a way, it's nice. It's well-established, and yet personable at the same time - small con feel with bigger names coming to visit.

As much I like the idea but I think I just too old now and don't had enough time to play the console games as before. I when to this year (2019), I am surprised to find there's really no mobile game in the expo and still dominated by transitional console and pc games. I not too impress with the graphic of today and near future game that they reveal like the FF VII remake, the playable demo graphic feel like a bit out dated graphic or can be the tv screen that they used just simply isn't match as the nice quality of many flagship phone that our screen had and is the screen ratio is much better on most phone. Most of the playable demo had long line especially the exclusive game like Final Fantasy. They open to public since last few year and definite had increase volume of traffic and actually the experience less pleasant and I just don't think justified with the $150 plus ticket for the general public.
