We stopped by Naan Cafe on our way back home because I was hungry around 5 and really wanted something tasty and flavorful. I'm so glad we came by, because the food hit the spot! The place was also surprisngly packed on January 1st at 5PM. I ordered the two item plate with palak paneer and mixed vegetable, and it also came with rice, raita, and garlic naan. The palak paneer was okay- not as well blended as I normally like it and not enough paneer in my plate, but still good. The mixed vegetable was also really good- the curry was really tasty. The raita was extremely salty so I didn't eat it. The rice was good and it came with a lot! Finally, the garlic naan... I don't have enough words to express how good the naan was. Very clean cute place! We were in the area getting a Christmas tree at Live Oak Tree Farm and I searched "vegetarian" and "Redlands, CA" and this is what popped up. What a little gem! When you walk in, you are immediately are greeted with friendly service and the place is spotless. Their food is more akin to fast food and so is the seating. The service is super quick and the meal special is two entrees, rice and a pickled side for $6.99! This is such a good deal for delicious indian fare. The owner also brought over lentil soup for us to try. I tried their lentils and chick peas. The chick peas were spicy but awesome. Stopped by to pick up grub after my workout. This is my 1st time here. I was going to eat at Panera Bread but decided against it figuring Indian food sounds better. Man, did I make the right choice?! The aroma of hot garlic naan mingled with curry, tikka masala, saffron rice & everything else was intoxicating. I decided on the 2 item combo for $7.49. The combo came with rice & naan and 2 items of your choice. Oh man, the chicken tikka masala and chicken curry were delicious! The garlic naan had a generous spread of garlic on it. First mom and pop restaurant I tried in Redlands and Yelp reviewers are not wrong, it's really good! I came in around 4:30pm and it was empty but that didn't drive me away. I have no problem with the premade food in the steam line because I think curries and sauces are meant to marinate for longer than the 10 minutes it would be sitting if made fresh. I had spicy lentils, some chicken in a bell pepper and onion sauce; it came with rice, yogurt and garlic naan. The spicy lentils were truly spicy, which made it awesome. Came here on whim to try it out. It's more of a cafeteria style ordering, where you order your food and then grab a seat or take it to go. The menu is pretty extensive, with various options and combinations. The plates are fairly large, so we shared one which was a perfect amount. Overall - food is tasty and fresh. Ordered paneer tikka masala, and there was no skimping on the paneer, which was very much appreciated. I did have to wait for my dish, but that is because it was being made to order. The only downfall was when I heated up my leftovers a couple of days later. There was literally a puddle of oil with a side of paneer tikka masala. I've never seen so much oil in a dish in my life. It felt a little gross to be consuming THAT much. I simply just love this place! I typically get chicken masala and rice with garlic naan. The vegetarian option is also full of flavor and explosive amounts of spices in your mouth. Truthfully that how all of their food taste in my mouth. Indian food is one of my favorite dishes and I've eaten at a couple of places in Southern California. The name of the "restaurant" tricked me into thinking that it was a formal restaurant setting, but it's really just a kind of fast food style sort of venue. However, my friends and I weren't disappointed at all by the quality of the food. In fact, we left super bloated. Food: I got the 2 course combo with Tandoori Chicken and Vegetable Jalfrezi. It came with Garlic Naan and Rice. Portions were REALLY generous for the price--maybe a bit too generous, more so of the carbs. But you can't go wrong with carb overloading at an Indian restaurant cause then you'll miss out on all the scrumptious sauce. Anyhow, the tandoori chicken was tender and flavorful. The vegetable jalfrezi was a little spicy but awesome when paired with the garlic naan/rice. The mango lassi was full of mango and yogurt awesomeness. Definitely give it a try--but don't be fooled by the menu where it says that a drink with a combo costs an additional 99 cents. That only goes for the fountain drinks. Service: Cashier was nice, and a server brings the food to your table. Buffets can be a big miss but Naan Cafe cook small batches so it's only been standing a short time. Take out orders are filled from the same source so you know it's not been standing long. With 15+ vegetarian dishes, 18 chicken and 10 succulent lamb dishes the menu covers all tastebuds and degrees of heat. All meats are fat free, hearty in size and ultra high quality. Highlights: Chicken Tikka Fries - boneless chicken with big, juicy fries and a sauce that will have you licking your fingers long after. Assorted Pakoras - Best in town, four flavors to try. The chick pea batter is brilliant, just right amount of spicing with some kick arse moments. Chicken 65 - Only place I know doing this. It's deep fried and served with mustard seeds, garlic and ginger. It's not Colonel Sanders it's much better. Matar Paneer - peas and cheese, in that special curry sauce that defines masala. Malai Chicken - great alternative to butter chicken for those who don't like it spicy. Lamb Vindaloo - the hottest dish and the best to show of the quality of lamb and the sauces. Vindaloo is often used to hide cheap, fatty meat but not here. There's just the right balance of sinus busting and mouth watering flavors. From the outside it may not look like much, but this is probably the best Indian food around. Definitely the best in redlands. Don't judge a book by its cover. They serve great food and are very nice. They have some buffet options but have an extensive a la carte menu which is excellent. Their vegetarian dishes are on point. Naan cafe has the best Indian food in Redlands. Their combos and Biryani are absolutely fantastic and totally worth it!! But if you go little off the regulars on the menu, the food is terrible. I have so far tried Paneer wrap, Vegetable Pakora both were substandard and today I dared again and tried a dish which claims to be "Chilli Chicken", it was ghastly and utter disappointment. I ordered the Vegetable Chow Mein and though i chose the medium spicy option, it make my nose run and eyes water with every bite. Way overdone! Bummed about our experience here tonight. We ordered yellow Dahl, which wasn't on the serving bar. When we got home, it was cold and super watery.
