I just ordered lamb curry dishes from Naan Stop and found them totally tasteless. Previously, I enjoyed their dishes so I called the restaurant and they absolutely refused to pick up the phone. The food is very good though the naan is sometimes dry and hard. I actually enjoy their Thai tea and but I will say that the lady who owns the place is often rude. I thought she might be having a bad day at first but if she's been rude more than once then I'd say it's just the way she is. The chicken tikka had no flavor what so ever. The curry was watery, bland, and lukewarm and the chicken was stale, dry, and under seasoned. The naan, as it's name sake, was dry, stale, and hard. Indians would be disappointed in what this place is serving. read more

We had taken a long tour at UC Santa Barbara and were craving Indian food afterwards. We did a Yelp search and found this amazing place Naan Stop. As soon as we entered , the owner Sonny greeted us with a polite hello and welcome. The menu selection was amazing. My son ordered a butter chicken with Naan. I ordered a fish curry with rice. Both were amazing tasting. I needed another order of rice and Sonny gave it complimentary. The service and quality of food was terrific. If there were more stars, I it add on! This place is out of this world! The garlic cauliflower is to die for. We also tried the amazing Dal, vegetables of the day and the garlic naan bread. Naan Stop's food isn't too bad, but they also don't serve the best and most authentic tasting Indian food. I always get the chicken bowl and get either the Chicken Masala or the Spicy Chicken(?? I think that's what it's called) for the meat option. The portion of meat that they give became smaller since the first time I tried it about 3 years ago. When they are running out of meat, they fill it up with more sauce to make it look like there's more food. I also wish the quality of their food was more consistent. I always ask for a sample before I choose between the two dishes I listed above because there have been many times when their food wasn't seasoned well and tasted bland. Their garlic naan is good and comes out hot and fresh. The mango lassi is also good but I wish they would fill it to the brim. They always cut you about 1/2-3/4 inch short from the top. There's this one guy who's been working there for a while, but he isn't the friendliest person and doesn't smile at all. There was one incident where I heard someone asking for a garlic naan, but he brought a regular naan out and kept arguing that the customer never asked for a garlic naan. I guess I would say that he's kind of stubborn. I go here once in a while when I crave Indian food, but would probably go more often if they fixed up some things. read more

Straight fire. 10/10. Authentic Indian food for sure. The owner, I believe, was really friendly and provided great service. We asked for military discount and unfortunately they weren't able to give it and we were ok with it too, but instead they came through with little cup of samples of 4 different dishes, plus dessert.. Now that's genuine. Also, the prices are ridiculously reasonable. Try everything! You won't know how amazing the food is until you actually try it. I am embarrassed to admit that I found Naan Stop on DoorDash one-night. Without a kitchen and in desperate need of Indian food, I found this restaurant on DoorDash as a popular recommendation. Since then, this has quickly become my go-to for a special dinner in Santa Barbara. After my discovery, one of my good friends provided me with an additional recommendation. So aside from the word of many people on DoorDash, I also have a direct referral to this spot. While I have tried several things on the menu, my absolute favorites are The butter chicken, The Chai, and the papadum with pickles on the side. Fun fact: you don't actually need cutlery to eat the butter chicken from a to-go container. You can just drink all the delicious sauce, and then precariously eat each piece of chicken. So what if it gets messy! It's amazing! Seriously... If you are in doubt between the tandoori chicken or the butter chicken, just go for the butter chicken! If you don't like it, feel free to deliver it to my address and I will eat it for you. My only complaint is that their food is so popular that they often run out of items, but as long as I've got at least one of the entrees I am happy. Yum. read more

Was starving post night class session and decided to try something new for once, boy am I glad I did! For one the name is deliriously punny and I definitely tend to judge a book by its cover when it comes to restaurant names, so that instantly hooked me. The inside decor was nothing eccentric but definitely a comfortable environment, other than the strong potent smell in the air. (I got my order to-go because of this.) The food layout was also not that incredible looking but I went out on a limb and ordered the Chicken Tiki Masala with Garlic Naan judging by faith not by sight, and lord almighty it was worth it! Probably the best curry chicken I've ever had, and I've been to India before. The garlic naan was freshly made and looked very fancy with all its ingredients artfully spread atop. And the combination of the 2 foods was sensational. I will be stoping by Naan Stop probably non-stop for a while! read more

Now the only Indian restaurant remaining in the Goleta area, this one does not disappoint. You can smell the delicious aroma even outside the restaurant. I love Indian food and I have thought the food was very good here since I tried it my first week as a student. No fancy artwork or service here, but c'mon, it's a pick pick. They actually have made some upgrades interior-wise. The naan yesterday was not bad, a little thin and could have had more garlic. The tikka masala had huge chunks of juicy roasted chicken. It was creamy but still had lots of spice. The samosa was filled with flavorful spiced peas and potatoes. It had been sitting out a while and wasn't hot but the filling was really tasty. Something felt lacking in the chana masala, too much of a tomato sauce. I recommend the saag paneer; it was mild and had a thick texture with chunks of the curd cheese. However, the big problem is that it is WAY too expensive for the amount of food I got! The food is absolutely amazing and flavorful. Those who claim the Saag Paneer is actually Tofu have no idea what Paneer cubes are. I had the most wonderful Saag Paneer with actual Paneer (indian cheese).. Chicken Curry with mixed vegetables was great. Chicken Tikka Masala was great as well.. Naan was chewy as it should be. First time trying Naan Stop and was recommended from friends. I was hearing good reviews and don't get me wrong it wasn't bad food. However, I wasn't expecting such small portions when I ordered A la Carte. I got the chicken tikka masala, chicken curry, and the saag paneer. It was good food, not the best, but I wouldn't say it was the best bang for my buck. We recieved a small cup size per item and half of the cup of the chicken masala was sauce. I would have chose the rice meal, but I wanted more chicken and not rice. I don't think I will be eating here again unless it's in person so I can see them pouring the chicken. read more

But here are the extra special unique items about this restaurant. First, they have the widest selection of milk teas / boba around. There are other places in town with boba, but Naan Stop offers the most variety. And the price is around $3. Second, they serve dosas! I am not aware of any other place in town that sells them. For the uninitiated, a dosa is typically southern Indian, similar to a crepe, with savory fillings like spiced potatoes, and served with chutneys. Unlike the curry food service that's made beforehand for speedy service, the dosa is cooked fresh to order, hot and crisp. It can take 5-10 minutes to prepare, keep that in mind if you're in a hurry, or if the rest of your dining party got curries, they may be halfway done with their meals before your dosa arrives. The dosa menu is not easy to spot, it's not a part of the big printed menu of curry combination dishes with handy photos for reference. The menu is a simple 8x10 sheet with plain text. But if someone's ordered one ahead of you, and it's sitting on the counter for pick up, you cannot miss it, because the dosa is bigger than your head! Possibly my favorite spot in IV! It is also a favorite among my friends who live in IV so Naan Stop has definitely built a loyal following (and rightfully so). Their chicken tikka masala is always delicious, I recommend pairing it with the garlic naan and spicy tamarind sauce! Plus it is family-owned and very community-oriented. We discovered this place in May while spending a week at the Ritz-Carlton (their food was mediocre and overpriced). So we came to the nearest town by Santa Barbara and found Naan Stop. Their food are authentic, mango lassi and masala chai is to die for. Everything is so delicious. The owner is so kind and down to earth , he takes pride in his business and customers. We really like the food but if you order online for delivery, keep in mind that the portions are really really small. They don't tell you how many ounces you're getting and when you pay $18 for an entrée you think it's going to be more than half a cup. It was my first time here and the food did not disappoint me... one of the new place that I have found to get Indian food in the future for sure... over the past 4 months from when the COVID has started, the food quality of other Indian cuisine restaurants in and around Santa Barbara and Goleta has deteriorated to such an extent that when you order chicken biryani you are served with chicken pulao... so I ordered chicken biryani in Naan Stop as me and my wife were craving for it since a long time... and it was Authentic Other things that I ordered were Chicken coconut curry (my new fav) , veg korma, Dal Makhani, Eggplant dish, Rice (was so good).
