But, anyway, it is hard to eat in the parking lot because of tiny little plastic utensils and a plastic takeaway container, but the food and service is always great. It is a unique flavor and the meat is pretty tender, especially the gyro mixed meat. The gyro may be the most tender. The green hot sauce is pretty darn unique to me, too. But anyway 5 stars because they respect a schedule and the food is hot and the portions are large. The falafel are kind of off to me, not bad just not great. Maybe skip the falafel. read more

This place rocks! The food is amazing! I travelled extensively through Greece and Turkey in the 1980's and this is authentic. Halal is very similar to Kosher in that safe food handling is paramount. I had the gyro salad as I am gluten intolerant. 2 meals at least from one order. They are practicing covid safe protocols and felt entirely safe while waiting for my order. Decided to pick up lunch for myself and a co-worker. My husband loves gyros and when he heard me talking about it, he insisted I order him something as well. The restaurant is located in a strip mall with Home Depot and Big Lots. They have a good spot because everyone drives right passed it, which is how I found out about it. We all wanted the traditional lamb gyros, but we ordered it the 3 different ways: as a plate, a halal bowl and the regular sandwich style on pita bread. Since they are minutes from my house I tried to call in the order hoping it would be ready when I got there but no one picked up, so I just took a drive over. There was no line and as the norm with SIP, food was only available for takeout or delivery. When I placed my order the man (possibly owner) let me know it would be 15-20 minutes so I left and came back. The food was nicely packaged and it was easy to tell which items were which, so I didn't have to go opening everything. As other Yelpers suggested, I asked for no veggies on my bowl because I wasn't going to eat it right away and didn't want warm lettuce. Mine came with a white and red sauce but they left the red sauce on the side since it has quite a bit of heat. I appreciate that they did this on their own because I didn't even think to ask. My co-worker ate the sandwich about an hour after I gave it to him and he could not stop raving about the meat. Sometimes the lamb can be overpowering but not here. I could have served it to my kids and they would not even notice. My favorite part is that they cook the gyro meat the traditional way on the vertical rotisserie. To me, this makes a big difference. The meat doesn't dry out and you get one side with a nice crisp. You know a place is legit when they have the equipment to make it traditionally. read more

Dishonest and horrible food. Went to get some falafel. Asked them if they had some as a side. He opens the menu he has on his counter and points to "side of falafel $1". I order 3. Should be $3.10. I get the falafel then I double take at the receipt that charged me $6.50. I ask why and he says "oh that's our old menu prices I showed you." Then why the F do you have it center counter ready to show your customers? And not tell them prices are 100% higher than the price you just showed them? And totally unrelated to scam above, the falafel was the worst I've ever had. Horribly dry and flavorless like cardboard overcooked in a microwave. Will never return. read more

I ordered online, then drove to Hercules to pickup the food. At first the app said pickup in 10 or 20 minutes. Then the app said a half hour to 45 minutes. I sat for a minute in the car and decided I should let them know I was there, so I went inside. Clean and strong smells of lively spices. I was noticed right away and greeted and I told them my name and pickup. The gentleman said Your order will be ready right away, 5 minutes. About 4 minutes later he walked the bag of food out and asked me to help myself to a drink from the cooler, since I ordered a combo wrap. My wrap came with a good drizzle of sauce and nice portion of meats and greens. The waffle fries were large and well done and crisp and tasty. The Tikka chicken had a wonderful odor and amount chicken with rice. We will definitely be back! read more

I wanted to leave a good review solely on the fact that I had a good tasting baklava YESTERDAY. My poor review today is based on terrible customer service. I came in today because I wanted the same tasty baklava from yesterday. I get in there, no one's at the front. That's ok, I wait until until I get some help. The guy comes to the front asking how he can help me. I told him I just wanted to grab one baklava. He opens up the container while I pull out my wallet. He sees me pull out my credit card and he said he's not taking card as payment for baklava. I told him that I did the same exact thing yesterday and he was the one who ran the register. He gave an even more rude response and said "I'm not taking credit card for baklava." Not even a sorry for the misunderstanding from the day before. I asked him what the difference was. Duuuude! I haven't had a decent gyro is a while! I was craving that salty flaky texture of the meat contrasted with fresh veggies and tzatziki on a fluffy pita pouch. I had a serious de javu moment walking into this spot. I've been here before! No not from another dimension nor a weird ibuprofen induced dream... alas this place use to be an Indian buffet with those weird metal slotted trays from mars or Mumbai. The dead giveaway was Bollywood videos playing on a strategically placed flat screen behind a counter where many trays were set up. That and the tangerine dream colored walls. Oh well, halal gyro? Interesting that they describe the menu items but there was no price affixed to anything. So I was a bit shocked when my order of 3 gyros and two fries came to 40 bones. I got em to go to take home to enjoy with #2 son home studying for his last financial series exam. It seemed to take an extremely long time but they bagged it up with extra sauces napkins and plastic forks. We got 2 traditional gyros, one each and the Philly one to share just for the novelty of it. While we both liked the traditional lamb gyro adding a bit of extra tzatziki and spicy sauce. The actual Star was the philly lamb cooked to crispy outside tender juicy inside but along with grilled onions and peppers made it quite delectable. Even tho it was a half cause we shared. Neither gyros lamb seem to come from an authentic rotating tower, like I'm used to. That cost them a star and a half. The clear cut strips of meat shaved off the side of the rotating spit was not evident but it was flavorful nonetheless Really fresh hot crispy plump cross cut fries dunked in catsup and spicy hot sauce they provided. So assuming you want a solid tasting Gyro although not exactly authentic Greek version this is a solid choice, but since we aren't talking authentic, get the philly version over traditional. A good cross between a Phillies cheesesteak and gyro. Ah thanks for the correction! So the meat is roasted on a vertical rotisserie! I'm upping my review to 4 stars. Great! read more

An Indian Restaurant used to occupy this space. I tried their AYCE lunch buffet once. That was also the last. (I never came back simply because it was horrible, even with the not-worth-it "bargain" price.) So, I was naturally curios to see what took its place. When they finally opened, Hubbers and I were delighted to learn it's a Mediterranean foodie spot. Hubbers was working from home as I was set to run a buncha errands for the day. Part of those errands was to grab lunch somewhere since cooking wasn't an option (there simply wasn't enough time.) He asked to give him choices: there's the usual Asian cuisine (which dominates the general Hercules area), Italian (there's a few of those around, too) then I mentioned, "There's a new Mediterranean place that opened a few weeks ago." We're both up to try new places, so Mediterranean it is. He put in a phone order as I finished up some of my tasks for the day. I asked to put in an order of lamb gyro. He went for the beef and chicken kabob combo. Got lucky with up-front parking. Our food was good to go by the time I came in. Hubbers reminded me to get him hot sauce. (He mentioned most Mediterranean places he's been to has a special one.) They were more than happy to provide it. Paid for the stuff and bounced outta there in no time. Food was still warm by the time I got home. First thing I noticed once we unpacked our food: QUANTITY. It was A LOT of food. We didn't expect our orders to be so much. They were generous with the amount of meat my gyro came with. It was delicious, for sure, but I think I would have liked them sliced a little thinner with a little burnt finish in the end as I feel it would have elevated the aroma as well as the flavor. But delicious, overall. I had plenty of leftovers for a 2nd meal. Hubbers enjoyed it as well but mentioned both meats were more on the dry side of things. He also said he'd hoped their hot sauce was something more on the Mediterranean seasoning and essence, but came off nothing better than a regular table bottled sauce (not sure which he compared it to - tapatio, sriracha, regular hot sauce, etc...) Still, he enjoyed it anyway. And like my gyro, he had plenty of leftovers for later. FOOD: 4. (They're new and I'm sure there are possibilities of improvement.) SERVICE: 5. No complaints. Food was ready when promised and they gave us extra sauce (green and white) without having to ask. VALUE: 5. Plenty for what we paid for. PARKING: Private lot shared with a lot of other businesses. Not an issue. OVERALL: 4.5. Pretty good for newbies and already building a fan base. I'm sure they're always open in finding ways to make themselves even better. I used to come here very frequently before the pandemic and loved it. Today was the first time I was disappointed. I ordered a lamb kabob plate and a couple of falafel patties. The lamb was so overcooked I could barely eat it. It was tough and dry with very little seasoning. The rice was also plain and somewhat dry. It came with a tiny salad and 2 quarters of a naan. Today I came to a conclusion. Ohh yes for many years I had sporadic interludes with Gyro sandwiches. In fact I even enjoy the ones Arby's serves but today my mouth was reawakened to what a Gyro really should taste like it was wonderful meaty juicy crunchy and infinitely satisfying. I had been living in a Gyro desert. I had the falafel which and humus which was also wonderful. We have been getting Naan Stop to go once a week for 4 months. I am a seriously picky eater when it comes to meat... because my stomach basically hates me.... but I have nothing negative to say about this place. Nothing. I get the combo chicken/lamb rice bowl and my boyfriend gets the lamb rice bowl. The meat is tender. Perfectly cooked. Perfectly seasoned. The rice is to die for. I don't know what they season it with but I'm a fan. The cucumber/tomato mix on top is fresh and crisp. I call ahead so I can pick it up on my way home. Their customer service is great and you definitely get a locally owned business vibe. We live in Napa and there's a lot of places here to eat but hands down nothing even remotely close to Naan Stop. Naan Stop Kabob used to be the only decent "fast food/take out" in Hercules but that has changed. The gyros were fresh, the meat was tender and the taziki sauce was so good. The last time I ate there it was completely the opposite. The gyros was dry, the taxiki sauce tasted like watered down ranch sauce. I didn't even finish the gyro.
