Was deciding on what to have for dinner tonight and Indian cuisine immediately came to mind. Tandoor has been a local fave of ours for quite some time so the decision was fairly easy. I had a craving for goat so I ordered the goat curry (medium spice) and my wife ordered the chicken korma. The goat was so tender and flavorful and they gave so much meat that I actually had leftovers (which almost never happens)! Also, just a tip: that medium spiciness has a kick! Local gem!!! Went yesterday afternoon and dined-in for a change. Our server was amazing and attentive, making sure we were happy with our seat and food. Chicken Tandoori would have been good if the chicken had actually been cooked in the sauce. The sauce was great but the chicken was unsliced and not tender. It was as if steamed, unseasoned chicken was thawed and dumped into the sauce and merely put in the to-go container. The vegetable pakora was good but the chicken was the reason i ordered the food. Amazing orange aroma curry. I love this Indian food. It's a new cuisine for me. That orange sauce with all the aromas coming out has the most flavorful and tasty and juicy chicken ever coming in assorted shapes and sizes. The red chicken on the bone is great too. . Chicken Tikka Masala: super good and yummy! No complaints. I got mild spice and it wasn't spicy at all. It was actually more on the sweet side but still tasted really good. Make sure to order with rice or garlic naan. I got the garlic naan and it fit perfectly with the tikka masala. My friend got the chicken biryani middle spice and it also wasn't that spicy. We do have higher spice tolerances though. We came at lunch time when they were closing in an hour to get ready for dinner. The server was so polite and helpful! He recommended us food, constantly checked on us, and checked that the spice level of the food too. He was very attentive to any water/napkin needs! The ambiance is a great place to go for both dinner and lunch. I definitely recommend going for dinner and it's a nice dinner date spot too! When they first opened, this was our go to place for Nepalese/Punjabi cuisine. Nice balance of spices, aromatic, and servicing sizes that more than we could finish in a single sitting. I personally like the lamb curry as there's the meat is cooked with a toothsome texture, something I can bite into, although my wife would disagree, she likes lamb to fall easily apart. If you're able to get a table along the back window, there's pretty good views extending all the way out to San Pablo Bay. Decor is nice and it's a pretty nice ambience altogether. Wait service is top notch, someone was checking in on us, but in a way it's not intrusive, nor to a point we're looking around for someone to wave over. Over the years, several other Punjabi restaurants have opened closer to us on San Pablo Dam Rd, and we haven't visited in a while. We were in the neighborhood and wife was craving South Asian cuisine and opted for lunch. It was nice to rediscover why we came so often in the past. Came late on a Wednesday to have dinner and we were graciously welcomed in and serviced. Inside was spacious and clean, with Indian music playing. Menu had some vegan options - since it was my partner's birthday, we were going to have an all vegan meal. We had an Indian friend with us and he noted to the server to make the dishes "desi", which was the authentic way to indicate that we wanted the "Indian spicy." The most flavorful (and super spicy!) Dahl lentil dishes and Chana masala arrived in beautiful traditional serving bowls. The rice and garlic naan arrived shortly after- I'm a sucker for garlic naan and it didn't disappoint! Everything tasted delicious and even our Indian friend said the place was legit. My vegan partner also loved it and we even had enough leftovers for a snack the next day. We got there early so had a nice table with a view. I had the chicken coconut curry. It was good, but since I've never ordered that dish at other restaurants, I don't have a basis for comparison. I give the wait staff appreciation for checking on us frequently, but it got to a point where they(2 different waitresses) were checking on us so frequently that it killed the vibe with my date. They kept coming to the table to clear my plate before I had actually finished, like they were in a hurry, even though there were plenty of empty tables. I have been craving Indian food for a while now and a friend mentioned this restaurant and was telling me how good the food was here. So, I decided to order from here after work. I ordered online and food was here quickly. Everything was freshly made. Here is my experience here. Chicken tikka masala: 5/5 stars One of the best Tikka Masala that I have ever had. The spices that they used, the creaminess of the sauce and the flavor of everything together was EXCEPTIONAL. Also, I love that they do not skimp on their chicken. They put a good amount of chicken in this dish, so you're definitely getting your money's worth. Naan bread: 5/5 stars I ordered two different kinds of their naan bread. The garlic one and the cheese stuffed one. The garlic was by far my favorite one, it was so good dipped in the tikka masala sauce. The cheese stuffed one was also very good too. Lamb biryani: 4/5 stars I LOVE lamb and love biryani and have actually tried lamb biryani at another restaurant in the past. I must be honest, I did like the lamb biryani from the other restaurant a little more than this one.... But the lamb biryani here was pretty good. The flavor of the rice with all the spices was so delicious and the lamb was very flavorful as well. Samosas: 1/5 stars... I have tried samosas at another Indian restaurant and they were delicious. Sadly, I did not enjoy the samosas here and probably wouldn't order them again. Sauces: I received three different sauces with my order. Two of them were for the samosas, the tamarind sauce and another green sauce.... I believe the third sauce was a yogurt sauce, it also had some chunks of cucumber in it. I wasn't really a fan of either sauces. My favorite part of the meal: My two favorite things was the garlic naan and the Chicken tikka masala. Both of them together was exceptional and was like a flavor party in my mouth. Overall: 4/5 stars I can't wait to try their food again and maybe try different menu items next time. The chicken tikka masala and naan are definitely a must. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others who love Indian food and are open to trying different culture foods. Hands-down, the BEST place to get your Indian/Napalese fix. Their customer service is extremely friendly, kind every single time. They have never ran out of any items on their menu, and the flavor of each dish every single visit is CONSISTENTLY FRESH, FLAVORFUL, and great portion. Never bland! We used to visit another Indian place in the area, but this place officially has our heart for the past 3 months. We plan to come here for as long as we can now that we live in the area. Their chai tea is so yummy. They also have lots of sugar-free packets. Chicken tikka Marsala, Chana Marsala, and their Baingan Bharta is our usual. Aloo gabi is yummy as well. The staff who I spoke with over the phone was really friendly and seemed really appreciative. We ordered the shrimp tandoori, coconut lamb curry, garlic basil naan, and vegetable samosas. Once again, my wife and I ventured out to try a new place. Tandoor Restaurant has both Indian and Nepalese dishes. When we walked in, we immediately liked the quiet and elegant atmosphere. Lots of windows and light here! The menu has a good variety, and the prices are very reasonable. The servers are polite, and quick to bring anything you ask for. When we got our order, we were delighted with the flavors each of these dishes. You could actually identify individual herbs and spices with each bite. The naan is fresh and delicious (my wife's favorite), and the masala sauce is amazing. I stand by my review! Solid solid Indian and Himalayan food. I LOVE the veggie biryani rice..sometimes it can be a little spicy. My hubby really likes the tandoori chicken, but the last time he got some weird bone fragments probably from chopping the chicken legs with a cleaver or something. I love the butter chicken and wish they gave a slightly bigger portion. I eat it with the biryani rice. We got chicken Momo's, and they were a little plain.
